Two decades of America’s invasion and occupation of Afghanistan The Lexington Herald cartoon says it with sardonic simplicity. What it leaves out – deaths over 20 years, most of them innocent, trillions spent – hardly needs mentioning. Or remembering.
Simply put, it was an abject failure. But so too, it’d seem, is the American experiment in democracy.
And the American Dream – which is what my story touches upon!
