An evocative feast for all the senses, A Taste of Old Cuba combines a Cuban expatriate's charming and vivid memories of a childhood on the idyllic island before Castro's revolution with more than 150 recipes for delicious, authentic, and traditional Cuban dishes.
Has many recipes for foods that I grew up with and some that I will need to try. Includes pictures and family stories of Cuba in the early part of the 20th century. Gave me a glimpse into my grandparents' Cuba.
Not a bad cookbook. Most of the recipes are more broadly Latin American, with very few typically Cuban dishes. If anything, the dishes are called by their Cuban names, but are found in L.A. and in Spain. The author was a member of the upper class in old Cuba, and includes various vignettes of her life, there in the 1930's-1950's. I can't help but think that there must be something better out there.
