"You can interact with people through the books you read, as though they were there physically. This is because what you're doing while reading a book is sharing the opinions and thoughts of the authors, rubbing minds with him. Every book you read is the author's thoughts in print. So when you read his/her material, you're keeping company with him/her, and sharing his/her thoughts, and in no time, you will start thinking the same way. So, just as your physical friends are important, the materials you read are equally important." (David Oyedepo, Towards Mental Exploits)

If I could give one Scripture to summarize this book it would be:
"For as he thinks within himself, so he is..." (Proverbs 23:7).
Thoughts become things. One of the definitions of "exploits" is "to do great and mighty things." Therefore, if you have the right software in your mind, it will cause you to do great and mighty things. One of the best software's for your mind is the Word of God. How do you download this software into your mind? By meditating on the Word of God. Then you shall make your way prosperous and have good success. You will be like a tree planted by streams of water which yields its fruits in due season, and whatever you do shall prosper (See Joshua 1:8; See Psalm 1:3).

The topics and chapters this book covers are:

1. Understanding the mind,

2. Functions of the mind,

3. The reality of the supernatural,

4. Your mind is the seat of wisdom,

5. Products of divine wisdom,

6. The place of inspiration,

7. Creating the right atmosphere,

8. Exercising the mind for mental excellence,

9. Obstacle of mental excellence,

10. Set for mental revolution, and

11. Now you know...

I think we can all agree that our minds have untapped potential. The author shares insights into the Word of God for releasing this potential. He shares practical things we can do to release this potential like reading books and associating with intelligent people. One of my favourite excerpts from this book that deals with this:

"Wise company is a conducive atmosphere for mental development. The Bible says:
He that walketh with wise men shall be wise: but a companion of fools shall be destroyed.

Proverbs 13:20

Having wise friends, walking with wise people and connecting with wise associates enhance your mental development.

The good thing is that they don't have to be there physically. You can make friends through materials like books and tapes. You can make the authors and preachers your friends in absentia, people you relate with in the school of knowledge.

Someone said, "You'll remain the same way you are today in five years, except for two things: the books you read and the people with whom you walk."

Also, in addition to the practical things you can do to unlock the potential of your mind. He also talks about how as believers we have the Spirit of Wisdom living on the inside of us. The Holy Spirit was in giants of faith like Jesus, Joseph, Daniel, Peter, and others. The same Spirit lives in you and you can do great mental exploits unheard of for the praise, glory and honour of the Almighty God! Amen.

An amazing book that helps believers to see why they need to use their minds on the pathway to success. Being spiritual is not enough. One has to actively use the mind to do great things
