Based on a true story, Samuel a young Amish Boy gets caught up in a machine on his family's farm. This accident changes his and his family's life forever. The Amish live a very simple life and having this accident happen, placed the family in very unusual situations for the Amish. Having to have Samuel hospitalized and then seeing the rising medical bills of which they could not afford since the Amish do not believe in insurance, gave the family a whole set of life rules to live by. Thanks to the generosity of both the Amish community as well as the non-Amish community the bills were paid for and Samuel received the best medical care while at the same time teaching both the Amish and Non-Amish communities around them a thing about each others cultures. It is a very sad story but at the same time beautiful in how the community rallied around helping this family and most important of all, Samuel.

This book is a heart felt story about how two totaly different worlds can come together and help each other, even though they may think otherwise. I have read this book more than once and I REALLY LOVE IT.

If you want to know how to deal with trials in your life, this book is for you. How do the Herschbergers do this? Lots of faith and help from people inside and outside their Amish community. It was also interesting to get an insider’s view of Amish life. Enviable in many ways. A lot of good can come from people of different faiths and backgrounds coming together for a worthy cause.
