Radio producer Jamie MacMahon is in over her head with ex-hockey player-turned host Drew Milan. She’s attracted to the man who earned the nickname “the Beast” during his playing days from the moment they meet, but he’s her boss and she loves her new job. She’s made plenty of mistakes with men and loathes the thought of being yet another plaything for Drew, a man who sleeps with women but doesn’t date them.
Drew doesn’t want to lose a great producer and knows Jamie deserves a real relationship, but can’t stay away from the sizzling chemistry they create every time they’re together. Jamie’s insecurities and the very real prospect of having to leave a great job if this thing doesn’t work out clash hard with Drew’s fears about opening his heart and the possibility of losing his first competent producer. Nothing's going to get resolved if one of them won't say it: "Come on, baby, talk to me." Publisher's Note: This book contains explicit sexual content, graphic language, and situations that some readers may find objectionable: D/s elements, fetish, spanking, strong language ("dirty" talk).
Cassandra Carr is a multi-award winning romance writer. When not writing she enjoys watching hockey and hanging out online. Cassandra's books have won numerous "Best Book Of" awards and her novella Unexpected Top was nominated in the E-book Erotic Romance category of RT's Reviewers' Choice Awards.
She thinks the best part of being a writer is penning stories about love and sex while most others struggle with commutes, micro-managing bosses and cranky co-workers.
This read is going on my favorite list! Talk to Me is a sexy hot read and seriously Drew is a master at dirty talking! What made this read even better for me is when he discovers that he has a fetish of the non sexual kind that is near and dear to me! No spoilers here, you'll just have to read it yourself. :)
First let me say that the explicit erotic scenes were truly outstanding and very well written to the point I could actually visualize each scene and due to that I plan on reading more of Cassandra Carr’s work. The story in itself was just ok for me, not that it wasn’t any good, it’s just I really don’t get into the male dominance role but for those who love that type of male than this book is perfect for you.
However, I can say that I felt the chemistry connection between Drew and Jamie was very hot . Drew had his sweet moments when he finally came to his senses in the end. Jamie on the other hand even though she was a sweet and sexy lady that has everything going for her could have had a harder stance when it came to her own sister and told her where the cow could eat the cabbage – that part between the sisters was annoying to me. I think I would of bitch slapped any sibling of mine who told me I was a constant fu@k up and always put me down.
The story revolves around Jamie, the new producer for a NYC radio sports talk show, and Drew, a former professional hockey player and host of the sports talk show. Jamie is a new comer to New York - she’s gorgeous and perhaps a bit shy....and she has a fetish for great shoes! Drew is a hot hunk of a man....known as “the Beast”, and that moniker doesn’t necessarily refer to his behavior on the ice, either.
At first, Drew and Jamie keep their relationship completely professional. But they can’t fight the attraction they feel and eventually Jamie gives in. Drew catches her, um, alone....listening to a recording of his voice. Sexy!! And it makes Drew realize that maybe he underestimated his new coworker. Maybe she isn’t quite the blushing flower that she appears to be. And the hotness only goes up from there. There’s lots of sex....smoking hot sex. But with that comes confusion and miscommunication between the two of them. You see, both Jamie and Drew have a gotten hurt in the past. Jamie has a habit of making bad man choices and Drew has walled off his heart for fear of it getting broken again. But neither of them can deny that this relationship isn’t “just sex”....even though they both tell themselves that’s all it’s going to be.
*SIGH* I will always love a book that features a strong, yet tortured Alpha-male and a strong female who doesn’t put up with his bullshit. At the core of this story, there are two people who have both suffered due to previous relationships and both are scared of history repeating itself. And maybe, just maybe, this thing they have is real and can help them both heal up the scars that the past has left behind.
Part of me wants so badly to label Drew as a possessive asshole who is just using Jamie. But I can’t. Despite his douchebaggery, he’s really just scared. His saving grace is his constant inner-monologue that acknowledges his douchebaggy ways. He knows he’s being a dick and that he is handling his relationship with Jaime the wrong way....but he just couldn’t help himself. (Hey, at least he’s self-aware!) And yes, his actions kind of border on caveman at times....but, it’s kinda hot. Who doesn’t want a man that wants you so bad that he goes a little crazy? We’d all be lying if we said we didn’t want a man to fight and beg for us. It’s not like he’s clubbing Jamie over the head and dragging her back to his cave. Maybe he’s not perfect, but that’s what makes his character so real and ultimately, so lovable. And when Drew’s walls finally do come down, my insides melted. It was just delicious.
I loved absolutely everything about this book. The characters - the hot monkey sex - the ending - and most importantly....Drew turning out to be the man we hoped he was all along. *Swoon.....* This will be one of those go-to books that I’ll pick up and read bits and pieces of when I want to feel all melty and swoony. I’m pretty sure swoony isn’t a word....but you know what I mean.
And PS....just in case you didn’t know - hockey players are the hottest athletes.
The chance of producing a radio show for Hockey legend Drew Milan is a fantastic opportunity for radio producer Jamie. Determined to make a good impression, she tries to act all professional around the sports hero who earned the nickname “The Beast” during his hockey career. However, within an hour of meeting him she realises the combination of the man’s voice and sexuality makes her insides melt. Drew is the ultimate playboy. Afraid of being hurt, he has vowed never to get involved with another woman again outside of the bedroom. He can only offer Jamie sex, and she is too good a producer to lose for the sake of a quickie, so he decides to steer clear. With both of them determined to ignore the growing sexual tension for the sake of the show, both of them are left aching for sexual release. After a particularly intense recording session, Jamie finds she needs to take matters into her own hands before she explodes. Unfortunately, this is where Drew finds her: with her hands down her trousers, masturbating to the sound of his voice. Drew is only human and the sight of the woman he has been lusting after for weeks getting off on the sound of his voice, tips him over the edge. But no one warned Drew that once you let the genie out of the bottle, it’s almost impossible to put it back in. Can he stick to his no-strings sex rule with his lovely but sweet producer? Moreover, will she let him, whilst still managing to work for him?
Drew is the typical ex-sports star; he keeps in shape, women throw themselves at him and he gains media attention wherever he goes. He has functioned for years by keeping women at arm’s length, using them only for sexual release and then discarding them. When he meets Jamie, his entire reality is thrown off balance and it was fabulous to see the mighty man-whore fall. I loved his slightly smarmy playboy attitude because it made me giggle, but most of all I loved that he took such attention over Jamie’s sexual pleasure. The main attraction for her was his voice, so he talks dirty to her for most of their time together (this was very very very hot!). He is determined to make it as good for her as it is for him, probably thinking that this will lead to less awkwardness when they part. However, this all backfires, as Jamie isn’t like his other bedroom playmates. She’s smart, funny and attractive, which are qualities that he isn’t used to finding in one package. More importantly, they work together so, once they know they have explosive chemistry in the bedroom department, their time together on the show is just slow, torturous foreplay. For the most part, I liked Jamie. She was fun, smart and really didn’t what to do with her attraction for Drew. Unfortunately, her character is also the reason this book got four stars rather than five because at one point, she goes all single white female on him, and it set my teeth on edge. Although I understood the reaction, I felt the way she dealt with any misunderstandings she had with Drew (and there were many) was incredibly immature, and I lost a tiny bit of respect for her. Together, they scorched up the sheets, but as individual characters, Drew definitely outshines Jamie.
This is definitely an erotic romance. There is lots and lots of sex, and it all was incredibly steamy. There is limo sex, office sex, sex with food, bath sex...you get the picture right?:D This is a story that starts with sexual attraction, and the feelings grow from there. If you like erotic romance, this is a good read for you to try. I have read other reviews that say that the ending seems rushed and I agree. It didn’t lessen my opinion of the book; it just tied everything up in a nice neat bow. This is a very hot read about a man and a woman who let lust overrule common sense and have a very steamy affair and I enjoyed it...a lot! :D

Talk to Me by Cassandra Carr was extremely good for it was: a hot, steamy read that was based on sex. Unfortunately, I was looking for a little bit more than that. Whether or not I’d recommend this novel depends entirely on what you’re looking for.
I recommend Talk to Me if you are looking for a smutty, steamy, mindless read. I don’t recommend Talk to Me if you are looking for a riveting plot, an intense romance, or a strong emotional connection with a story and the characters.
Personally, I expected more from the plot, the characters, and the character’s relationship. I wanted to see the characters get to know one another better “outside of the bedroom”. It seemed like the plot and the characters entire relationship was based on sex. The beginning of the novel is about them fantasizing about having sex with one another; the middle and end of this novel is them actually having sex with one another. (Sorry if that spoiled anything!) The sex scenes were smokin’ hot, but I wanted MORE.
The characters in this novel were okay. Honestly, I didn’t get to know the characters well enough to describe them thoroughly. Jamie was very blah; I really don’t even know how to describe her. Drew was an alpha male; he was very domineering and possessive. I can say that the tension and attraction between Jamie and Drew felt real.
I gave Talk to Me by Cassandra Carr 3 STARS (2.5 STARS).
Cassandra Carr's Talk to Me is quite a hot story that at the core is a very sweet story about two people falling in love. Drew Milan is a husky-voiced former hockey star who now hosts his own radio show. Jamie MacMahon has just been hired as his show's producer.
When they first meet, each is struck by that mysterious bolt of attraction, but each also has reasons for wanting to pretend that attraction doesn't exist. Jamie's move to the big city was prompted in part by a failed relationship, and she no longer trusts her own judgment about men, especially since her over-protective big sister constantly reminds her of her failing in this area. Drew's basically been a player (of women, not merely hockey) for nearly a decade ever since his fiancee's cutting betrayal left him emotionally scarred and unwilling to risk his heart again. He's used to spending his time with a string of sexy women who want nothing more than his buff body and his wallet.
Once these two hit the sheets, they definitely burn them up (and many other surfaces, horizontal and otherwise). But Jamie's insecurity and Drew's reluctance to even admit more than desire pose quite the problems...
Ms. Carr does a good job of setting up the characters and tension, and then of moving the plot along at a satisfying pace. It's a real pleasure to watch Jamie and Drew work through their issues and find their way to an HEA. Will definitely be reading more from this author!
This was such an enjoyable read! I quickly grew attached to the characters and quickly had an invested interest in the outcome of their pending relations. It was a nice, fun, light read that kept me turning the page with no regard for time or responsibilities.
The story was interesting. I liked the idea behind the talk show. While I've read plenty of athlete related romances, this was a slightly different spin since Drew was retired and spent his time following hockey and doing anything hockey related on his show. I'm not a big sports person so this definitely made it easy for someone like me (who knows nothing of hockey) to follow along and not feel left behind in different scenes.
What I liked most was that if you took out all the sex, there is still a great story going on. I've read my fair share of Loose Id novels and I think this is one of the best. I, being a hopeless romantic, love the story. The struggle to finally get together. Neither the story, nor the romance gets left behind in this book. A hot read that should definitely get picked up!
This has got to be 1 of the worst books I`ve ever read. Boring, repetitive, uninspired, embarrassing, and ridiculous. There is absolutely no plot to it. What little money it cost on Kindle, still wasn`t worth it. I`d actually like to meet anybody who gave it more than 2 stars....Honestly ladies....
Man, the writing was awful, like being pounded on the head with simile after metaphor after simile telling me how incredible Drew and Jamie were together.
Drew is a leg man and Jamie has a great pair of legs. Jamie is blown away by Drew's good looks and his voice that can melt a woman's panties. Mmmm......
It was lust at first site for the two but since they have a working relationship they both try their best to fight their attraction.
After Drew was cheated on by his finance years ago, he decided to never be in another relationship. So he is gun shy about letting anyone get to close to hm. On the other hand Jamie is too fast to get close to people and has been engaged twice only to have it not work out.
But as the two work together on the late talk show they get to know a little about each other and one night after the show their control breaks' leaving Jamie wondering if she is just another notch on Drew headboard. Talk to Me is full of hot sex and an emotional romance that had me routing for a HEA for Drew and Jamie.
If you are looking for a quick and steamy read with a solid plot and an ex-hockey player with a shoe fetish then you can't loose by read Talk to Me.
The first time radio producer Jamie MacMahon and ex pro hockey player Drew Milan lay eyes on each other, the attraction is mutual and the heat instantly flares between them. But Jamie, who has a history of picking the wrong men, fears Drew could be the worst pick of all. Drew, nicknamed “The Beast” by his fellow players, has rightfully earned his love ‘em & love ‘em reputation so Jamie so is determined to hold him at bay no matter how much he flirts with her—or how much she wants him.
But after she’s forced to listen to him on the radio night after night, it becomes increasingly difficult to resist the seduction of his sexy voice. When Drew catches her taking the edge off her desire to a recording of his voice, the attraction overwhelms them both. But Jamie remains a “hearth and home” kind of gal, and Drew, who’s been burned before, still fears commitment.
Cassandra Carr has written a romantic story loaded with hot sex and great characters. Jamie is sweet with an innocent quality about her even though she is not inexperienced. Drew is a macho, take-charge man who still presents an edge of vulnerability.
Talk to me is a delightful, steamy read. I can’t wait for Cassandra’s next one.
Hot hockey player hero. ...... do I need to say more? Well, this book was smoldering hawt! Their sexy flirtations, sizzling heated sex in the office, and the heros fetish for footwear combine to make it near perfect. I say near perfect just because I think Cassandra could have tortured her hero just a little bit more and I was really hoping for some on ice action LOL. With that said however, the spicey scenes at the radio station, in the limo and every where else, totally make up for my little disappointments. Cannot wait to see if Ms. Carr finds another puck loving man to put through his paces. I highly recommend this one for a sizzling hot beach read or in my case to have on hand while you are waiting in the car or in the arena on practice nights.
I loved this book, Cassandra Carr, did an excellent job, would recommend highly to anyone who loved their Erotic Fiction, our hero in this story is an ex hockey player who is now a radio DJ, who is a woman's man and the fact that he was a definite love em and leave em type, that turned it all around for love, made me not want to put the book down, Jamie our heroine is a radio producer who has major issues with love, she really wants the Beast (Drew our hero) but knows that he will just end up hurting her, Cassandra did an excellent job of detailing each and every scene, the sex scenes in this book were truly graphic. Not for those who just want a romance novel. I can't wait for the next Cassandra Carr book.
If you like dirty talk and a voice that is made for it, this book might be for you.
Jamie has made some bad decisions about men in the past, and is determined not to make the same mistakes again. She didn't count on meeting someone who turns her on just by speaking.
Drew, aka the Beast, had his heart crushed a decade ago and ever since has made sure keep all his relationships casual and short. He didn't count on meeting someone who makes him want to break all his rules, and suddenly he is obsessed with her shoes.
Their relationship is explosive, and for those of you who hate the insta-love trope - you will love this book. No insta-love, but there is a major dose of insta-lust. Hooray for insta-lust and dirty talk!
A good story about a couple who, despite their personal demons, end up falling for each other. His voice turns her on. He fantasizes about the shoes she wears and how they make her legs look.
I found myself smiling when they had one of those "what did I do?!?" "You know what you did!" moments. (Forgive the punctuation. Quotation marks confuse me.)
My only complaint is that once he tells her that he wants a relationship with her, the story seems to pick up speed and race to the end. It was almost as if the writer was trying to hurry up and make sure all the loose ends were taken care so that she could call it a night.
This book had me hooked from the beginning. Jamie is a person I could relate to immediately. Ms. Carr did a fantastic job of expressing Jamie's emotions and feelings. With Drew, he is truly an all american man with a great big heart. I also enjoyed how Ms. Carr touched on the relationship between Jaime and her sister. How Jamie comes to realize what a huge impact her sister has on her. The way these two characters come face to face with their feelings was a journey I thoroughly enjoyed. This is a definite read for those who enjoy an erotic romance with a great storyline!
I'm a sucker for dirty talk, so I loved this one! I'm also a sucker for a caveman alpha, so I absolutely enjoyed watching Drew fall in love. My only complaint was that I thought the whole thing with Jamie's sister Allison was not very helpful to the story overall, and she annoyed me. Other than that, it was great!
This is the first Cassandra Carr work I have had the pleasure to read, but it will certainly not be my last! From beginning to end, you're invested in the characters and what happens. Jamie is a fantastic heroine and Drew is friggin' hawt! The erotic scenes were intense and very detailed. A must read if you're into erotic romance.
At first I thought this book was (as an erotic read) going to be more about sex than the story line. The story line though became more apparant as I read on and I was drawn into the story. The sex, yes it's there, but you do want to find out what is going to happen between the producer and the star of the radio show. I finished it quickly it was an easy read.
The story line for Talk To Me had so much potential. It was short, repetitive and a little hard to get into . Carr really needed develop her characters a bit more, need to fill pages with new insights, rather then repeat the same lust filled thoughts. I wouldn't recommend this, other than for a rewrite.
Verrry sexy. I liked how they talked to each other and got to know each other. It wasn't just about sex, although there was plenty of that. I also liked the addition of her sister Allison. It wasn't a book solely focused on two people, but it didn't cut away from them either.
I received a copy from the author in exchange for an honest review.
It was okay. Slow to get going, and the two final chapters didn't do anything for me. It's about a retired hockey player who turned into a radio host, and he's interested in his new female producer. The misunderstandings that crop up from communication (or lack thereof) and the differences between the way men think vs. the way women think was very realistic.
Cassandra Carr's Talk to Me is a good read. Finding love in the workplace is something I can relate to. Although my cubicle has never seen the action that radio studio has. I was tortured (in a good way, of course) while Drew learned to break the wall surrounding his heart.
