Why Should I Recycle? by Jen Green is a informational book about why it is important that we recycle. The kids teacher Mr. Jones separates their trash and makes a recycling bin teaching the kids the importance of recycling. He then takes the class to the local recycling plant showing them the impacts of not recycling and how we can help our Earth by recycling. Valuing the importance of recycling the kids start their recycling journey making the Earth better just by using it in their classroom.

I gave this book 4 stars because it teaches kids important lessons in life and the book teaches the important values of recycling and the benefits that our country will have when changing our lifestyles to be more eco friendly with recycling. It is important for kids to learn about recycling because they are the future and we want them to help save Earth as much as they can.

Why Should I Recycle? is a great informational book that teaches the readers what they can recycle and why it is good for the environment. The book starts our with a couple of kids saying that they didn't always recycle until one day their teacher Mr. Jones taught them the importance of recycle and what it can do for the world around you. The main character of the book is Mr. Jones who is the one teaching his class about the importance of recycle the garbage in his students houses.
My overall thought of the book is that it is very brightly colors and very well detailed in the illustrations. I think it is a wonderful lesson that any child could learn. An opinion that i have for the book would be maybe to have thrown in a couple of "funny" options the the teacher can say is either recyclable or not. The books overall theme was a teacher teaching kids to recycle and how important it can be. The book also contained speech bubbles that were in the actually text of the book it just brought on a personal effect to the informational book.

-Pre-K-2nd Grade

-Why Should I Recycle? is a story about a teacher named Mr. Jones who loves to recycle. He shows his class how recycling works by taking them on a field trip to a recycling center which encourages them to recycle the proper way.

-This book is a great example on how to teach children how to recycle and explains why it is important to us and to our environment. It is also a great way to encourage children how to protect the environment from pollution and even littering so that we can live in a world where it is clean and free from anything that can ruin this planet. It also shows how products can be reused again if we recycled.

-There are a lot of fun activities for the children to do that evolve around recycling, such as writing out what the difference between waste and recycling and what things belong in each or like in the story, taking a field trip to a recycling plant to show how recycling works

This book demonstrates the importance of protecting nature. Mr. Jones sets a good example for his students by always separating his trash for recycling. They soon go on a class field trip to a recycling plant to learn the importance of recycling. I really like this book because it teaches the students to be conscious as to where their trash goes. Out of sight is not always out of mind. This book also shows the valuable role of a teacher to model these good life skills. I think that this book could be paired with a video of all the plastic in the ocean. This could help students to see where trash will go when it is not recycled. They will see how it pollutes the earth and harms environments. This could lead to an activity where the classroom organizes a community/school wide recycling event or fair. This text could be used a mentor text for the students to inform other members of the community or school about recycling. It could be used as a model for an informative piece of writing.

Why Should I Recycle? by Jen Green invites children to learn about taking care of the earth in a fun way. A teacher, Mr. Jones, takes the children on a field trip to a recycling plant, and teaches the children the value of recycling and taking care of the planet. I really enjoyed this book surprisingly. Initially, I assumed that an informational book would be boring, but the book put a fun twist on educating children about an important issue that can be solved if everyone contributes.

In a way, this book had a lot of dynamic characters as all of the students in class became more educated about recycling. However, Mr. Jones basically stayed the same. The book had a closed ending, and I am assuming that most informational texts probably do as well. Furthermore, the illustrations in this book were extremely colorful and would most likely be considered a cartoon.

Why Should I Recycle? is all about the importance of recycling and eliminating waste. This book is an informational text, as it's written to teach children about the natural and social world.

This book would be a solid mentor text to show students a good example of ideas. The story takes the reader throughout process of recycling and all the ways it impacts the world around us. Some of these ideas seem to be a stretch, especially for young kids, but the fact of the matter is that these expanded ideas help in the argument of why it’s important to recycle.

This would be a good book to use during a social studies or science unit when studying the social responsibility we all have to our Earth, or with talking about renewable and non-renewable resources.

This is a great book that explains recycling in a fun way that is easy to understand. This book brings awareness of the importance of recycling to young readers. Children see both trash cans and recycling bins in their classrooms, and they should be informed about the difference! I like how the students learn all about recycling from the teacher in the book, and how he asks questions. When reading this book to a class, it could be fun for them to interact with and answer the questions that the teacher asks in the book! Overall, this is a great book that explains how and why we recycle!

Why Should I Recycle follows a young child and his recycling journey. On his way to school one day, he witnessed his teacher recycling and became curious as to how it works. Mr. Jones, his teacher, explains how recycling works, and how it helps better our environment.
The bright images and details in the book make it interesting for students and they have a lot of details to focus on. The lettering is big and easy for younger readers to follow, but also for older readers to use for something like a book report.

I think this book is great because it teaches kids about recycling and what it is. I think the teacher in the story Mr. Jones does a great job explaining what recycling is and why  kids should recycle. As a future teacher I would use this book in my class and read it to them. I then would teach them about recycling, and then take them on a field trip to the recycling plant like Mr. Jones does in the story.

I gave this book 4 stars out of 5 stars because the influence it can have on our future and the creative illustrations.

A little boy passed by his teacher, Mr. Jones', house and noticed he was carrying a box of cans and bottles. Later that morning, Mr. Jones explained what recycling is and took his class on a trip to the recycling plant. Students learned the importance of recycling.

In this informational story, students can make text-to-self connections. Green uses speech bubbles that contain common questions and misconceptions from the perspective of a child. Students will learn the value of recycling.

Theme: Recycling, garbage and the processes

My favorite part of this book was when he went to the store with his mom and dad. He was then more educated on recycling and garbage. He knew some of the important things you should do. It has a lot of good information and breaks it down so it's simple for students to understand. I would read this to my class to show the importance of picking up after yourself and sorting your trash.

I like this book because I think the students can really relate to it. This book takes place in a classroom and the students ask their teacher why they should recycle. I would introduce this book within my classroom at the beginning of the year so that my students know that we will have different bins for recycled products. I think that it is important to keep our Earth clean.

“Recycling is kind to nature. Its saves money— and its fun!”

Jen Green’s informational text, Why Should I Recycle?, is a wonderful read for children. She hones in on a very important job we must do to keep our Earth healthy and clean: recycling. The book starts off with two children explaining how their family used to always through everything in the garbage. This all changed when they saw their neighbor, Mr. Jones, recycling his cans, bottles, and papers. Mr. Jones also happened to be their teacher; and therefore, was able to explain the importance of recycling to them in class. One day, he took all his students to a recycling center where the children explored the many different containers old material was placed to make new material. He explained how the cans can be melted down and recycled into new metal objects such as bikes and scooters. The field trip turned out to be a great success because the students wanted to educate their own families on the importance of recycling. The book shows examples of families buying recycled items from the store and even turning old food items into compost to be used at home. In the end, recycling was turned into a fun family responsibility they would continue to do.
This informational text is a fantastic read for all elementary ages K-5. Not only does Jen Green include the importance of recycling, but she also includes multiple ways that families can recycle together. It is incredibly important for children at a young age to learn how and why we recycle for the health and safety of our planet. Sometimes, we might get lost in thinking recycling can be too much of a hassle, but Green includes fun ways for families to do it together. I truly liked how the book also shows a teacher involving his students in the importance of recycling and how he explained the actual process at the recycling center. Teachers can use this book to relate to their own class by comparing themselves to Mr. Jones and the students to those in the story. Teachers can even have their students create other engaging ways to make recycling fun! I highly recommend this story for the sake of teaching students the importance of recycling and why we must do it to keep our planet safe and healthy.

Why Should I Recycle is a children’s book that focuses on the importance of recycling for the environment. It is a story of a little boy who learns what is recyclable and why he should recycle to make the earth cleaner. He teaches his friends to recycle and learns to make it fun!
The author used a lot of color and detail to create a dramatic setting. I think the author did this to try to emphasize the importance of recycling for the environment and how it can make the world better. The character was very enlightening, fun, and adventurous. It is quick and straight to the point which keeps the child’s focus and helps them learn the most important aspects of the book. The author provided many useful tips that children can relate to their own personal lives.
This book qualifies as an informational book because it is all factual. It creates a simple way for children to understand the topic. The illustrations are creative and uses the reader’s imagination to make it more relatable. It provides tips for the reader to try at home and why it will help the world. It creates awareness to the benefits of helping the environment and encourages readers to become better recyclers.
I was surprised by this book. Initially, I thought it would be a boring read but it was very high quality and interesting! I liked the way the author emphasized the importance of recycling for children so we can try to build those habits early on. This book makes it fun for children to recycle and will motivate them to recycle more often. If a child has never recycled, it gives them the incentive to start and tell their families of the benefits.

Why Should I Recycle is a fun informational book that incorporates common children's book elements with information. In this book, children go to school and hear from their teacher Mr. Jones the importance of recycling and what items in the trash can be recycled. Mr. Jones also explains to them how to recycle certain things and takes them on a field trip to the Recycling Center. Something I loved about this book was how the children told their parents about recycling. Children can learn from this book and it is an entertaining book to read as well. It does not overburden students with too much information, but gives them simple and important ways to help the environment and prepares them for deeper science or environmental lessons. This book also uses a fun font and speech bubbles to engage the reader.

A Childs family used to throw everything away until one day when they saw their teacher Mr. Jones separating his trash. Later, at school Mr. Jones teaches all about recycling and how some trash can be reused. The class went to the recycling center and was taught all the different things each material can me reused into. Later on the girl told her parents all about recycling and why it should be done. Now her family recycles so much they barely have any trash and they are very happy. This book is full of great information about why you should recycle. I believe this the author did a great job of creating an educational book that is also very entertaining. I gave this book five stars because it is a very educational book and does a great job of teaching children about recycling and how it can help our environment.

I chose this book for my fictional informational book because of how important recycling is. This book does an incredible job at explaining to children, in a way they will understand, what recycling is and how important it is. This story explains the different types of recycling and how garbage can be turned into things like comic books, clothes, and bikes. The illustrations are easy to understand and are very fun to look at. The kids will love the illustrations (especially the one where the character is plugging her nose because of how the garbage smells). This book provides a great learning opportunity for children and will encourage them to help the planet. This is a great book for Earth Day and Jen Green has other books that would also be great for learning opportunities like "Why Should I Save Water?".

Why Should I Recycle! Is a great book, for younger elementary students I would suggest this book for students for students k-2. I personally enjoyed this book about Mr. Jones who is the students teacher who leads to his students by example by separating the trash from the recycling in his classroom. Mr. Jones his students on a field trip to a recycling plant, where they learn the value of recycling. Mr. Jones students were so intrigued by their field trip. This was a WOW book for me because, i feel as though every citizen should know the importance of recycling and how this helps our environment. If you start when students are young by informing them on this information this will be a lifelong obligation. This text was my personal e-text.

3. This narrative-type story explains the importance of recycling and preserving our environment through the tale of Mr. Jones' class trip to the recycling plant.
4. I like this story because of the message behind it. It's important for our young children to learn abut recycling and environmental preservation so that they will still have a nice place to live when they grow up. The cartoony pictures and literary nature provides an easy-reading platform for sharing big concepts like the importance of recycling.
5. This book would be perfect for an environmental unit, especially on Earth Day. This could even (if available) provide an opportunity for a real field trip to a recycling plant to be able to see what Mr. Jones' students saw in the book.

Why Should I Recycle is a book written by Jen Green. It talks about a little boys family and how they recycle. He never used to recycle until he saw Mr. Jones recycle. In class Mr. Jones talked about why the children and their families should recycle. Mr. Jones took them the a recycling plant and tells them all the benefits about recycling. After learning the bad things that can happen to the environment if people don't recycle, the young boy tells his family and they start recycling.

I rate this book a 5/5. The pictures are very colorful and parallel to the plot of the story. It is important to use this book to teach kids about recycling. Teaching the future generation about recycling will help the earth in the future.

This story encourages children to take action and work together for something bigger than them. The illustrations are detailed and colorful with cute little borders. The language is easy to read and descriptive. This would be a great book to use in the classroom to teach children the importance of recycling and the true impact it has on our planet.
