I stumbled on a you tube video showing this technique and I wanted to learn more. I thought it would be helpful with our cats and the rescue cats. I already to kitty massage but I always want to learn more.
While the book has adorable photos and lots of information, it is not all information that you can grab onto and use. I felt that it was too busy assuring us that TTouch is wonderful and can work miracles but not enough step by step information on how it is put into practice. It would probably be better for someone who had a working knowledge of the touches already but want to center around cats.
With that being said I think if you are familiar with cats and how they work it's not very hard to learn the different touches and try them out adjusting to what works for your kitty friend.
The book is a little fluffy (pun not intended) spending a lot of time on how wonderful the technique is and how it will almost always work, but if it doesn't it is just the cat. Ultimately though you do get a fairly practical explanation of the techniques, with a handy quick reference in the back. That would probably only get it two stars, but I'm a sucker for cute cat pictures, and there were a lot of those.
This isn't the kind of book you have to read cover to cover, you can look up techniques. It helped me gain the trust of a scared blind cat. I am very impressed.
Although my 14-year-old Smokie (see my profile pic) is a very affectionate and overall seemingly relaxed kitty, I'm anxious to apply some of these therapeutic massage techniques, especially as I begin to "brush her teeth"! Although I'm not wild about doing this, It needs to be done to help prevent any further mouth/tooth infections, etc. plus I'm sure that just as with humans, this will be beneficial to her overall health, enabling the body to heal itself, as with any massage therapy and/or energy work! I love the testimonials and vignettes included in this book, as well as the very detailed instructions! I believe there may be some Christmas gifts for my friends with furry four-footed companions!
I had really hoped that some of these might work on my cat, Molly. She is a real handful and even though she is now long past kittenhood, she is still wild. Unfortunately, none of them made any difference - she is still as wild as ever.
This has been a great way to learn ways to bond better with cats and help overcome cat behavior issues. I've been practicing on 2 of my cats and doing the 1 1/4 circle in the field for a new stray living in our garage.
All about soothing, comforting, calming touches to use on your cat. Some of them are really weird, like rubbing inside their mouth, but I've found my cat to be receptive to them. Lots of pictures.
