Bigger, better, and Joy Sikorski and Nick Sunday have a new and improved format for their fun follow-up to How to Draw a Sailing Cat . Young readers will embark on an imaginative (and not too spooky) Halloween adventure with Little Man, a bold and curious cat, as he slips through the woods to a wonderful party for costumed trick-or-treaters. Lively pastel-and-pencil illustrations demonstrate how to draw more than 100 things encountered on the journey.well as in trade bookstores.
I stumbled on this in the children's nonfiction section of my library, which was near the adult books. The cat looks like a soft piece of origami, and I wanted to see more pictures of him. He goes for a jaunt in the moonlight and attends a Halloween costume party where almost everyone is dressed as an animal, and a witch makes him a plate of escargot (the recipe is included in French and English). My favorite page is "how to draw a moth and a lightning bug."
advanced PreS-gr2/3 This is one of the cutest (in the best sense of the word) drawing books I've ever seen! It has a story about a cat named Little Man, and as Little Man meets different animals etc., the reader learns how to draw them. The directions are simple and clear, and with the color shading, the reader is introduced to a whole new idea about coloring. Both boys and girls will enjoy the variety of animals and occasional halloween creature. This would be great to pair with the other Halloween drawing book for a program.
Oh. I loved this drawing book! Not only is it unbelievably easy and fun and thorough, it's cute. And I can finally draw cats that actually look like cats and are also really cute.
I got it because I wanted a Halloween drawing book (which it is and a good one!) But I ended up actually buying it for the adorableness of Little Man and his adventures.
This book is adorable. Came across it while wandering the children's non-fic section one day and fell in love. It's like a storybook/how to draw hybrid, and the art is so, so cute. Time to get drawing! :D
Very fun... but harder than it looks (especially if you try and use pastels like the author does). I'm interested in trying out other drawing books by this author, though.
