When Gabriel Blackstone, a young man living in Salem, Massachusetts in 1692 is sentenced to death for the crime of witchcraft, a mysterious man appears to him, just before death comes to claim him; promising to change his fate if he will only agree to take his hand and go where he leads.
Miraculously, Gabriel is transported to 21st century Salem where, he not only escapes his fate, but meets his destiny! He falls in love with Lily Snow, a descendant of the very family that falsely accused him of witchcraft! They both know theirs is a forbidden love, but they cannot deny it!
Gabriel is shocked to learn that the man who saved his life is, in reality, an evil Fallen Angel, named Lucien, who wreaks havoc on the city of Salem with his unbridled lust and violence. He wants Gabriel’s very soul and will do whatever it takes to get it, including going after Lily!
Gabriel and Lily’s story is one of love that defies all boundaries, as they come together in a steamy passion neither of them has ever known and a love that transcends time, brutal injustice and evil itself!
Forbidden Passions Book Reviews: I loved reading this book as you actually felt you were a part of the story. The characters grew so much in details and also etched a place in my heart. I cannot wait to see what happens to these characters in the next installment in this beautiful series.

Gabriel and his sister are accused of witchcraft in Salem in 1692. The thing is, an entity named Lucien did use power or magic to kill the deer Gabriel was accused of killing. As he is being tortured by the crushing weight of stones, Lucien takes Gabriel away to the future Salem. Lucien is a very powerful fallen angel and the only thing to stop him is the power of Gabriel's love.
Very interesting read. Gabriel is a very likable character as is his future love, Lily. I look forward to see what happens in book 2 of the series.
Have you ever finished a book and really liked it, but there was just something about it that kept you from loving it? That's where I was at the end of Salem Moon.
I think Scarlet Black did an amazing job of bringing the reader back to 1692 Salem. The history of the witch trials through first hand experience was gripping and horrific. The irony of the world that Lucien transports Gabriel to made for a fantastic story. It really was a wonderful concept and parts of it flowed quite well. I didn't feel like the relationship between Gabriel and Lilly was forced. I actually liked their connection. It was magical, as it should be. I also didn't have a problem with the evilness that surrounded Lucien. Yes his actions were awful and what he did throughout the book was unforgivable, but he was evil incarnate. He acted pretty much how I expected him to. That doesn't mean I accepted his actions, it just means that I know evil exists and sometimes it appears in the books that I read.
So, what didn't I like about Salem Moon? What exactly kept me from loving it? I guess if I had to put my finger on it, I'd have to say that some of the situations and solutions were just too convenient and lose ends that I didn't feel were tied up enough by the end had a lot to do with it. I know that this is the beginning of a series and some of this will probably be resolved in the next book, but I would have liked to have felt just a little less 'lost' at times.
Having said all that, I still really did like Salem Moon. I will probably pick up the next book in the series and not just because it ended in a huge cliff hanger. I honestly want to know what happens to Gabriel and Lilly.
This is a fun, fast read I would recommend for anyone who likes more than just romance in their, well, romance. I read this book when the author was featured author in one of my Goodreads book groups. Her book sounded like a romance which isn’t normally my thing- as a genre but of course I like a little romantic storyline. Then, I started reading and saw that it was centered around the Salem witch trials of 1692. One of my favorite times in history not because it was nifty, but from a psychological level this is a strange phenomenon we thankfully don’t see often. Anyway, the book jumps time and up we come to Salem in the present and we get to follow a very original storyline and some very likeable characters.
There were some editing issues but nothing that was too distracting. I really enjoyed this book- I read it in one sitting. Oh, and there will be a follow up that is definitely on my radar.
Gabriel and Lily share a love that spans the barrier of time. Born centuries apart in Salem to families who hate one another, they meet after Gabriel's family is destroyed in the past after being accused of being witches. On his dying breath he is brought forward in time to modern day Salem by a fallen angel who is determined to use Gabriel's pure soul to gain his own earthly freedoms. The battle that ensues is deadly and leaves Lily no choice but to use the secret magickal powers she has concealed her entire life.
Well-written and fast-paced with plenty of realistic historical background on Salem. It felt like really being there. I look forward to reading more about Lily and Gabriel!
I just finished Salem Moon, and I was locked in to this book from the opening chapter. The characters are full of exitement and the story line is the history of Salem, Ma and the surrounding towns. Gabriel, Abigale, Lily, Lilac and Lucien jump right off the pages. This book kept me up until I finished it. the final chapter is exciting, I can't wait for Salem 2. I could say more but I will not be a spoiler, instead I will let you read it yourself and remember Don't Tell Anyone how the first Salem Moon ends.
I thought this book was absolutely amazing. I won it in a contest I entered on this website. I could not put it down. the book had everything in it from suspense.. romance... magic... you name it. I didn't like the ending... not because it wasn't good.. just because I couldn't stand not knowing was was gonna happen next. I have to wait for the next book to come out... ughh. but I can't wait to read it!!! amazing job!!! thank you for the giveaway
This book is really interesting. It had a great story line and a really hot romance. In this book I had too put it down to calm myself at times. It's a real good read and can't wait for book 2. If you r having a lil dry spot in your love life this sire will get you in the mood.
The amount of information about the Salem witch trials of 1692 shows clearly that Scarlet spent a great deal of time researching for this book. Her description of events, are incredibly detailed and vivid. Some of the scenes of punishment and torture are so well written you can instantly put yourself in that time and place.
Gabriel is a likeable if rather naïve character who won my heart from the start with his ‘easy going’ and ‘kind’ personality. He makes it easy for you to both love him and want to take care of him as he struggles to cope with the death of his father and sister. (which happened for him only 2 weeks ago but in reality it’s been over 300 years)
The love story between Lily and Gabriel is interesting. The pair have plenty of issues to over come if they want their relationship to move forward….the family feud the Snow curse and Gabriel’s families fear of Lily’s powers as well as Lucien’s determination to take over Gabriel’s soul at all cost. Happiness does not come easy to these two.
Lucien on the other hand is everything Gabriel is not……..he commits rape numerous times and some of those scenes are quite graphic leaving little to the imagination with the wording being rather vulgar and crude. It is at times quite harrowing to read.
The ending was a disappointment for me………I hate cliff hangers and stories that don’t end, it ruins the reading experience for me. This was one of those endings, we are left with no answers just questions and I don’t know when the next instalment is due out. I can never quite understand why authors do this but I find it extremely irritating .
To Scarlet Black….BTW I read in one of the reviews that there was an excessive use of exclamation marks in the book……….I don’t agree I had no problem with the punctuation at all :)
Let me start out by saying that I really liked this book. It was a great premise for a story and it really sucked me in from virtually the beginning. However I only gave it four stars for a couple of reasons. First and foremost (and I know some of you may think this is petty and stupid) but, all the exclamation points in the book distracted me. Maybe I'm just ADHD or something, but every other sentence there was an exclamation point and it distracted me from what I was reading, so i would go back and re-read the sentence to see what all the excitement was about, even though I just read it. I never realized how much of a difference a period and an exclamation point can make.
Next, Gabriel & Lily fell in love just a little too quick for me. There was never really a connection between the two of them. It was just like oh hey, we're destined to be together.
Now that I'm done griping about the book I want to say that I can't wait for the next one to come out, and I really did enjoy the book. For once I read a book that took me more than an hour to finish and I really liked that. Maybe in the next installment there will be less use of exclamation points.
The characters are strong, convincing and believable, including some you love to hate. But, you'll have to find out for yourself! This author obvioulsy put alot of time and effort into researching the facts if the Witch Hunts of 1692 and present day Salem as well. The story line flows so evenly, I found it hard to keep the book out of my hands! I can't wait for the next installment of Salem Moon. As the author Scarlet Black says in her bio at the back of the book, "Buckle your seat belt, and enjoy the ride!" I would recommend this book to any reader, young or old, male or female. This book has it ALL, romance, (not for those under 18) time travel, action, the violence of injustice and pure entertainment!
-Larry S p.s. Thank God there's no vampires involved...and it's for adults!
After reading another piece of this authors work I decided to buy another one of her books.
This one didnt get me the way the other did. (The other is call The Wisdom of Evil)
I couldn't make my mind up whether I liked the characters or not, and to be honest I still can't. Sometimes I do, sometimes they bug me a little.
However, this book is very well thought out and the amount of research that much have gone into this is unbelieveable. I will be reading the next in the series, even though I'm not to friendly with the characters, I need to know what happens next.
I stopped reading this book and am happy to put it into my did not finish shelf. I thought this was going to be a great book about time travel and witches. boy was i wrong! this is what i would consider a soft porn book. the beginning of the book has a brother and sister wrongly accused of witchcraft. then there is a very graphic rape scene of the sister. i overlooked that and kept reading. but after coming upon another very graphic sex scene between a "fallen angel/demon" and a teenager, i called it quits. call me prude if you want to but i dont enjoy reading about rapes and teenage sex.
I would recommend and have recommended this book to everyone!!! I knew Scarlet would make a name for herself! Those years as teenagers heading to Salem, Ma to celebrate Halloween became the back drop for her successful future! I am honored to be a long-time friend of such a talented writer. Her skills are impeccable!
Salem Moon eclipses most of the historical fiction I've read that deals with the passions and prejudices of the early New England settlers and their self-professed puritanical personas. This Moon deserves five shining stars!
Awesome book! Keeps you sitting on the edge of your seat! Grabs you from the very first page. Cannot wait for Salem Moon Part 2!! Way to go Scarlett Black!
This entire review has been hidden because of spoilers.
It caught me from the beginning I could not put it down. WOW can't wait to see what happens next i need closure!!! Highly recommend if you like witches, magic and of course fallen angels.
I would have rated this higher except the the ending was horrible. I was disappointed that the ending was too abrupt and an obvious ploy to get the reader to buy the next book.
I loved the setting and the time travel part. I really did like how the author describes what happens around the Salem witch trials, she made it very believable. You get a couple of stories running at once, but they are easy to keep up with. I found this very book creepy and brutal with description going in to the brutally very clear, so you better be able to handle rape, killings and more. Now, about the rape the way they are written it’s not totally rape, but to me it is because the girls really don’t get a chance to say no. One of the girls is so scared by the evil angel she can’t say anything to stop what happens to her and let me tell you it’s gross, I had a very hard time reading it. I also found Gabriel and Lily’s coupling a bit too quick for my taste. Although Gabriel and Lily are teens in this book is definitely not for teen reading, it’s an 18 and over book.
I am not going into the storyline because the blurb says enough. I did like the characters even the villain plays a good part.
There is no HEA this is a continuing story. So, you’re left hanging.
I picked up this book hoping to like it, hoping for a historically fresh take on the witch trials we all know so much about. Maybe I was looking for some romance, something wistful and whimsical in the same way that DESTINED gives a unique twist to the sinking of Titanic. What I was not looking for was a violent, disgusting portrayal of sex abuse.
The character that was so descriptively violated was a young teen, a character that was presented as nearly angelic. For her to have to go through that, and the reader to go through it with her- shocking and upsetting, as well as a clear example of poor taste.
I understand that rape is a subject of some books and deserves its place as a topic needing public awareness. Yet, historical books such as Black Ships and Cleopatra's Daughter do a much better, much more tactful job at it.
In closing, don't read this book unless you want your mind assaulted right along with the poor character. This is a do-not-finish for me for sure. In fact, I need to delete it off my Kindle.
My Favorite Character is ღGabriel Blackstone!ღ A young man living in Salem, Massachusetts in 1692 is sentenced to death for the crime of witchcraft, a mysterious man appears to him, just before death comes to claim him; promising to change his fate if he will only agree to take his hand and go where he leads.
