When Aldo McPherson was 12-years old a car accident left him in a coma. While in the coma, he had a supernatural experience where he went to heaven, saw God, the angels, Moses, and Abraham. Aldo came back with one “Jesus is Alive!” This book challenges the complacent. Is God still your first love? Are you sold-out to Him? Filled with Scripture references, and direct quotes from the Bible, A Message from God will ignite the sparks of the Holy Spirit in your life and bring you closer to God, while Aldo's letters in his own handwriting give a sense of authenticity not often found in miracle stories.
Reporting after-death experiences seems to be a popular genre of books these days among Christians and non-Christians alike. A Message from God rises above that crowd by reporting a clear communication(for Christians) resulting from such an experience. Clear and well-written. Good scholarship as well as intense honesty.
Make no mistake, this book is only for Christians. Non-Christians, doubters, or seekers, etc., will find it confusing, if not offensive. Christians will find it (at least) challenging.
I understand that authors have little say over book covers, but as a former "image consultant" (whatever that is) you'd think Retha McPherson would have blocked use of that hideous photo. (All other representations in the book show a her to be much better looking, not to mention not smiling-through-the-pain that the cover shot apparently portrays.)
"Message from God" is about 12-year-old Aldo Mc Pherson who sustains severe brain injuries in a near fatal car accident. The book tells how God miraculously first heals him and how today speaks to him through the Holy Spirit. It also contains letters and journal inscriptions from Aldo in his own handwriting as he tries to convey the central message that Jesus is alive and coming back for His bride! The first part of the book is a powerful testimony of God's healing power and love for His children, while the last section of the book teaches the principles for living an abundant life. "People don't know or recognize the power of God anymore," says Retha Mc Pherson. "Whenever God's awesome power is manifested and miracles happen, people are skeptical, asking, 'What church do they belong to?' But, I want to tell people that God still performs miracles today. He still talks to His children and He cannot stand lukewarm Christians." Retha explains that God wants our all. "He wants your entire life! Not just your heart," she explains. Filled with Scripture references, and direct quotes from the Bible, "Message from God" will ignite the sparks of the Holy Spirit in your life and bring you closer to God. Aldo's letters, describing his experience, gives a sense of authenticity not often found in miracle stories. This book challenges the complacent church to be introspective. It asks: Is God still your first love? Are you sold-out to Him? These and other pertinent questions have started the debate in the church about its Christ- expectancy and are causing a stir among people from all denominations who seek God's face in earnest.
I finished this book last night. I’ve started their new one HEAVEN & HELL. The LORD GOD ALMIGHTY has an amazing plan for the lives of His people. Reading this book gave me such a boost. Just knowing from scripture God has no favourites; that He loves me the same as Aldo, amazes me. I love Aldo more than I love myself. He’s a remarkable young man. Full of hope and faith. Anyone who reads this book will no doubt see the mighty Hand of the creator lovingly comforting and working through His children to reach a lost world desperate to show them THE AMAZING GIFT OF SALVATION BEING OFFERED TO THEM THROUGH HIS HEIR, JESUS CHRIST. ❤️🔥❤️🔥❤️🔥🙏🏼
At first I had problems with the way Mrs. McPherson wrote. As a member of another Christian church, we have our own different ways of talking about our religion. I soon found my real problem was that her views/experiences were causing me to question my own motives and allegiance. The book is real. You may feel as I have come to feel that she and her son's experiences are real, and their testimonies genuine. I'm glad I read this book. I feel it has helped me grow and learn.
I really enjoyed the story of Retha and her son Aldo, and how the car accident changed their lives. Aldo's journey from near death to recovery is very inspiring, and Aldo's faith in God through it is very pointed and deep, and unequivocal. Retha writes her story very honestly and outlines her struggles with Aldo in frank terms. Retha shares a very biblical way of living the Christian life, with a whole heart, and without compromise. I recommend this book, it is very good.
A spiritual inspired book about hope and faith in times of tribulation.
I loved reading this book and found it very inspiring in my own journey of spiritual growth. As we approach the end times trials and tribulation increases and some people are loosing faith and hope. I rated this book as a good book because it inspires people to hold on to hope and faith and to get to know God and to have a living relationship with Him.
I have very few words to describe this book. You must read it for yourself to find the words but it will truly satiate your hunger for divine guidance. You will find inspiration on every page from both Aldo and Retha. Thank you both for the guidance and inspiration I truly needed. I pray that God continues to bless you and keep you in His light.
I found so much encouragement in this story of this family's tragedy and experiences with our Lord and found myself wanting to have a more intimate relationship with my Lord and Savior too! Thank you for sharing your story and so many personal details which really helped me in my walk.
Although I found some repetition annoying, I couldn't get enough of the message that God is love. I was reminded of my Christian responsibilities to God and not myself. Excellent read to enhance your faith.
Very inspiring and insightful of this family's journey and of how relentless faith in God and the miraculous things that He can do in ones life when one would least expect it. Definitely would read again.
Incredible! I heard this woman’s testimony over a video on YouTube and I HAD to read her book to hear more! Retha openly and honestly walks through the tough heart shifts that God created in her through the process of her son’s tragedy. She also shares all of the AMAZING messages and letters her son writes after he spends time with God. It’s a powerful story that I believe lines up with scripture and causes us to take heed to give God every part of our lives and live truly for Him alone. I will be reading this again and again and reading it to my children, too!
Powerful testimony of a mother and sons journey in his recovery. God transformed their lifes and it's very encouraging. It will give you revelation into Gods heart.
Read this book in a day. I found Retha's account of the severe injuries to her 12-yr-old son and the good changes that came about in this family as a result of the tragedy to be genuine encouragement for tough times. We all have tough times; not all of us see the hand of God so clearly in the midst. Retha's account is honest, easy to understand, and very touching. Her son Aldo was severely injured in a car accident, died, went to Heaven, by prayer his spirit returned to his body, and then he (and his family) had to face months of rehabilitation. He saw divine healing in most of his body (almost entirely injuries to his brain), and his family is believing for the remainder of his injuries to be divinely healed.
I wanted to give this book five stars because I found it so engaging and informative. But on the part of the writer there is a bit too much repetition--not a lot, just enough to slightly annoy. This was minor enough that I was was leaning toward giving it five stars. But what caused me to finally make the decision to drop an entire star is that the editing is so poor. Typos, misspellings, and gobbledygook inserted into the text that is so nutty you have to read the line several times before you realize what the writer meant to say. And this book is published by Destiny Image? Some editor was having a really, really bad day.
Liked it until I realized that this is the future anti-christ. According to Revelation, blind in one eye, wounded in the head, and maimed/limp arm, perfect description of the anti-christ! Do NOT be fooled.
View all my reviews erfect description of the anti-christ! Do NOT be fooled.
I can't put my finger on why I didn't relate to this book very well. Maybe it's because my expectations were very different from what this book was in fact actually about. I believe Aldo was seeing and hearing words from God but I do feel there was far too much emphasis on scripture and the beliefs of his mother. Sadly, I felt the book is mostly about scripture and not the experiences of heaven as I had anticipated from the blurb. Something does not sit right with me regarding the mother. She is almost fanatical in why we must give ourselves to God. "that we must die unto our ourselves.." Has she not heard about grace and forgiveness? Her fanatical Christian ideas are rather alarming and do not correspond with my idea of a loving and forgiving Father. I am sorry if this offends anyone but the book went in a very different direction to any of the Christian ideas I hold about God. I hope Aldo did make a full recovery from his injuries. That I do believe is possible!
This is a stop, take stock and make changes book. An incredible story of personal discovery through tragedy, the depth of personal sharing is moving. I did not give it five stars because it wasn't a book about Heaven in the sense of describing it in detail or reviewing experiences there. I have no doubt of the reality of what is shared in the book, or the lessons learned by Retha and Aldo. However, if you are expecting a book like "Heaven Is For Real", you will not find such accounts here. Based on the descriptions about the book, I expected more of that approach.
IT WAS HARD TO PUT DOWN AND I READ IT IN A COUPLE OF SETTINGS. I LOVE THE TRANSPARENCY OF THEIR STORY. I HAVE NO TROUBLE BELIEVING ALDO'S STORY. "AND A LITTLE CHILD SHALL LEAD THEM." WHAT A BEAUTIFUL FAMILY THEY ARE. THEIR BEAUTY ONLY ENHANCED THROUGH THEIR SUFFERINGS. I AM SURE GOD WILL USE THEIR TESTIMONIES GREATLY. EACH OF THEM HAVING THEIR ON PART TO SHARE.
I fell in love with this book. Retha is so right that there is a heaven and a hell....Jesus believed in heaven and hell and taught about both of them . We only have this one life to choose whether we're going to live it for God, the great I AM or for our selfish selves.
Blessings on Retha, Aldo and all their family. Keep spreading the Word and God bless you!
A good read and poignant. Not quite to the level of "The Boy Who Came Back from Heaven" or "Heaven is For Real" as both of those focused more on the kid's experience in heaven than "Message" did. This book was more of a treatise of a traditional evangelical admonishing to straighten up or else. However, I believe the kid was sincere.
I enjoyed reading this as I am always interested in ways God communicates with children. Aldo seems to have had a unique experience with God. It tells of the family being in an automobile accident and Aldo was critically injured with swelling in his brain. While he lay in a coma he visited God and God told him many things to tell his mother to tell people. That is why they wrote this book....
Very inspiring uplifting experience. Surely something I will study. Try to understand and lay down my life for for the Lord Jesus Christ.
Very inspirational, uplifting. we need to forget about our selfish needs. listen to God's needs from us. To remember who the one true leader is in our world today. I truly would enjoy more books of this nature.
I truly was blessed ready this book .it has shown me a whole new way in of who I thought I was on Christ .I want to be all that God need me to be in Christ. I know now I want to be soul out for God.
This book is a life saver to many .it truly has allowed me to examining myself .I give the book a 5 ! It is a wake-up call to me.
This is a powerful Word of God for all people at a time like this. God's healing, redeeming, restoring, empowering, emblazoning Word is revealed on every page...a testimony to how God works moment by moment in and through our lives...a vision of abundant Life....an intimate experience with LOVE.
