I really enjoyed this collection of Christmas novellas, and how the red gloves were a part of each novella. Each story had a magical feel, and even caused my eyes to get a little misty. These were poignant stories that encouraged me to be a better person as a neighbor, mom, wife, and friend. Each novella also had the perfect amount of faith interwoven into each story. I wouldn’t mind rereading this collection during future Christmas seasons. Gideon’s Gift was my favorite of the collection. 5⭐️ Maggie’s Miracle 4⭐️ Sarah’s Song 5⭐️ Hannah’s Hope 4⭐️ I also really enjoyed the author’s note at the end of the collection that gave idea’s to partake in your own little Christmas miracles that were similar to the charity shown in the stories. I thought they were wonderful ways to go out into the world and make a difference in other people’s lives.🎄
Through out four stories, miracles are shown through the symbolism of red gloves. Involving the homeless, the lonely, the elderly, and the soldiers, miracles happen when one believes.
The novellas featuring Gideon, Maggie, Sarah, and Hannah have warmed hearts each holiday season. Each book has a character striving to overcome a particular obstacle and difficult circumstances. The Red Gloves Collection compiles all of these books into a beautiful hardcover making the stories easily accessible so they can be experienced again and again.
Gideon's Gift follows Gideon, a young girl struggling through leukemia. After she meets a homeless man, a gift of red gloves changes both of their lives. In Maggie's Miracle, a little boy asks for a father for Christmas. His mother Maggie's concern leads her to find him a mentor, Casey, and relationships grow between all of them.
Sarah's Song explores the life of eighty-six year old Sarah, in a nursing home, trying to make her last days meaningful. She shares her life story with Beth, and the telling helps each of them in different ways. The final book, Hannah's Hope looks at a little girl who feels abandoned by her political parents and discovers that her true father is actually in the military. Their discovery of each other brings healing to everyone involved.
Each story originally included ideas for Red Gloves projects, and these are consolidated at the end of The Red Gloves Collection. Ideas are offered for helping the homeless, children without intact families, those in nursing homes, and people in the military. A light Christian Christmas message is included, but is not obtrusive. This collection is uplifting - perfect to share with the entire family during the holiday season - and would also make a wonderful gift.
I chose this eating because at the time I read it it was Christmas time. It may become my Christmas read they are short stories and just put you in the Christmas spirit and during a crazy time like December when you really don't have time to curl up with a long novel these are perfect.
This book is an excellent read and all four stories are outstanding. I’d been planning to read The Red Glove Collection for a few years, but it took me a while to get started. I was not disappointed—just the opposite. What a joy it is to read! I'm sure I will always remember these stories and perhaps I will read them again in a year or two.
Four stories written about Christmas miracles the power of love. These inspiring stories end witb"Red Glove projects for you, your friends, your church and your community. Read the books and embrace the power of the Red Gloves.
I love Karen Kingsbury's books. I just finished The Red Gloves Collection and it was so hard to put down. Her writing is so good. It captures your interest and makes you keep on reading. Each story is tied together with red gloves.
Too much like a Hallmark movie with predictable endings and story lines. Plus too much talk about miracles happen at Christmas and you just have to believe. I usually like Karen Kingsbury but this was a big disappointment.
