Horace Edward Dobbs (1933-) is a British scientist, researcher, author, and television producer, who is regarded as an expert on dolphins and their behavior. In 1978, Dobbs sets up the International Dolphin Watch. He also founded the Oxford Underwater Research Group.
The story tells of Dilo the Dolphin, who grows up and learns of the wonderful underwater life in the sea. Somehow the relationship between Dilo and his mother rather reminds that of Littlefoot and his mother in The Land Before Time. Although the book ends rather sadly, we are left wondering about what will happen to Dilo and how he would continue to survive in the vast world of the sea. This is a truly good read, and one that adults can enjoy reading to young children.
