Amedeo Clemente Modigliani, an artist of Jewish heritage, practiced and pursued his career for the most part in France. He began his artistic studies before moving to Paris in 1906. Circle of friends and associates, a range of genres and movements, and primitive art influenced nonetheless unique and idiosyncratic œuvre of Modigliani. Poverty, overworking, and an excessive use of alcohol and narcotics exacerbated tubercular meningitis, from which died young in Paris.
