Mount Vesuvius in 8 Frames

Rate this book
These poems are a response to a series of engravings by the Scottish artist Peter Standen. They explore the metaphorical connections between the processes of fixing the fluidity of artistic vision in the physicality of the engraving and the freezing of life in the moment of the volcano's eruption. Underlying both poems and engravings is the human story of the fate of a newly married couple on their wedding night.
