The time for pretending is over. The Shackleton Building has been turned into a concentration camp, and the last free people in Phoenix are forced into hiding. The fight is over unless Jordan and Luke can figure out where the Co-operative is hiding Tobias. And Jordan has to find a way to protect Luke before Peter rages out of control … or else history is doomed to repeat itself. With only weeks left until Tabitha is released, Phoenix’s biggest secrets are still yet to be revealed. And the clock is still ticking. There are 35 days until the end of the world.

New best book in the series. I did not see the plot twists coming! The end of the world is starting to feel a little dragged out now though. I look forward to reading the final book and finishing the series.

The fifth book in the series, Fallout was once again a great book. I picked it up and set it back down the same day.

Once more, the series switches points of view to Jordan. After essentially skipping three weeks, Morphew introduces us to Luke, Jordan, Reeve, and a few others raiding a weapons storehouse with 14 days until the end of the world. On the second floor, they find helicopters. Kara, being the only one with a pilot’s license, takes herself and Luke’s dad in one of them and avoids missiles and escapes to find more help. When the rest of them get back to the Vattel complex, Crazy Bill has woken up. He has a pickaxe and a miner’s helmet and is digging for an unknown reason. Mike, Cat, and Tank are down there as well. Tank decides that Reeve is his new boss and does what Reeve says. Mike, on the other hand, is still convinced that Soren is a powerful “overseer” and obeys him. When Luke and Jordan find Mike riding away on a skid they stole, they follow him to find that he blows up the security center, taking down the cameras with it. Everyone’s emotions tell them to lock Soren away, but Reeve takes advantage of the Co-operative’s blindness. Many of the group go to the Shackleton building to find Tobias and get more security guards on their side. In the end, they come very close to failing. When they get back to the Vattel complex, Jordan’s baby brother has been born. When he is named Abraham after his father, Jordan’s sister, the mind-reading Georgia, says his name is Tobias. We are left with an image of a huge electric grid enclosing the town of Phoenix, ensuring that nothing gets in or out.

Luke Hunter is the last person to have intentionally come to Phoenix. He is the reason the countdown began. He has a noticeable crush on Jordan. Peter does not like this and uses often insane actions and reasoning to try to convince Jordan to like him. Jordan does not like Peter, but she still tries to help him in any way possible. She serves as the “glue” for when the group has disagreements about anything. At the head of the entire Tabitha project, Noah Shackleton is one of the last people you would like to meet, right beside security officer Bruce Calvin. Shackleton wants to keep Luke, Jordan, and Peter alive just to see how far they can get, but Calvin wants them dead and will go behind Shackleton’s back to do so. Kara and Soren are the only survivors of the collapse of the Vattel complex 20 years before. They are the ones who have been watching Luke, Jordan, and Peter their whole lives.

As we recently found out, all of this has happened before and is bound to happen again, so there is no exact year this happened. We do know that the countdown started on May 5 and doomsday is August 13. The town of Phoenix is hidden in the middle of a forest, enclosed in a huge wall, in an Australian desert at least a "thousand miles from anything."

I would recommend this series to everyone. It's age and gender neutral, but I feel it is aimed more towards teens. Be sure to keep a few hours of your day free because you won't be able to put the book down. Morphew does a great job of leaving cliffhangers at the end of most chapters, but especially at the end of each book.

Yet Another exciting Sci-fi thriller in the series. Probably the most exciting one yet. I would recommend this book for anyone who loves stories with suspense.

3.75 stars.. Another action packed book. Lots of answers and it is almost time! This book is from Jordan's POV. At times Jordan was too impulsive and understandably, but annoyingly overprotective over Luke. And I can't believe how much they humor Soren, even with his erratic, aggressive behavior. This book explains why the guards are still following Shackleton's orders. There was actually less adult guidance again.

I noticed the cover art in the series at Book #3 and I am very impressed with the seemingly innocuous covers, that foreshadow the relationships between the gang.

Day 87 - 99

Likes:
* Covers are telling a subtle story
* Noticed 3 other series books are really compilations (Book #1 & 2: Man in the Shadows; Book #3 & 4: Blood in the Ashes; Book #5 & 6: Life in Flames)
* All parents are still married, only Luke's mom is divorced and alone
* Finally more answers

Dislikes:
* Town named Phoenix keeps bringing Phoenix, AZ to mind
* Peter's jealousy and anger
* Jordan's impetuous behavior, especially in dangerous situations
* Awkward unreciprocated teenage crush
* Sworn to secrecy
* Another cliffhanger ending, still like parts of a continuous story, not individual books
* No cell phones, cars, internet or leaving
* Intra-city cell phone for select people
* Shackleton's original Elite 8: Principal Pryor, Noah Shackleton, Security Chief Bruce Calvin, Victoria Galton (manager of office complex), Louisa Hawking (Cathryn's mother), Aaron Ketterly (residential liason), Dr. Robert Montag, Benjamin More, Arthur van Pelt (manager of Phoenix Mall) & Brian Weir (Peter's father)

With-reservations:
violence, murder, torture, threats, bullying, end of world/apocalypse, mental illness, kidnapping

The action continues as the kids hunt down clues and keep a half step ahead of the Shackleton Co-operative. Torture, tracking, kidnapping, murder, and something is happening to the kids in this town that is not normal at all....

Luke and Jordan have only fourteen days left to save the world and with a mum in labour, a violent friend, a crazy guy, an unpredictable trigger-happy associate and just a rumour to go on for a plan, it doesn’t look like it will be easy. Luke and Jordan are faced with the terrible foreboding feeling that comes from having had a vision of Luke’s death, by the hand of their buddy, the ever-growing-more-volatile Peter. With the few free people remaining in Phoenix forced into hiding, it is up to them to put the fragmented puzzle pieces together and come up with a plan to stop the terrible plan to wipe out the human race known as ‘Tobias’. With only fourteen days left to save the world, there are more and more questions and mysteries that arise, and Luke and Jordan and the others have difficulty discerning who is trustworthy.

Like all the others so far, The Phoenix Files: Fallout is an exciting, fast-paced, page-tuning, nail-biting instalment. With every single page holding something exciting, you wonder how there will be room for a climax, but be reassured, there most certainly still plenty of room! The action and the dialogue throughout grabs you by the throat and shakes the living daylights out of you. It is so easy to read through, you get to the end of one chapter, and no matter how late it is, you think, I’ll just zip through another one.

There are many twists and turns where Morphew is still cleverly keeping us guessing and by the end, he has us well and truly on the edge of another proverbial cliff. We are left with one day remaining on the countdown and I'm looking forward to experiencing how this last day - ‘the end of the world’ is going to go down in the next book Doomsday!

In Fallout, the countdown will finally reach the day one, but that is at the end of the book. But, in the meantime, a lot of things happen in this story. The most shocking is that Jordan, whose eyes we see this story through, has a major problem. When she has one of her visions, her body starts to fade away. Luke is always there with her, trying to bring her back, but no matter what he does, he really cannot help her. Luke is afraid that during one of her episodes, she may completely fade away.

Jordan is worried about Luke. The old security cameras recorded Luke appearing in the past and Peter charging after him through a time portal. Peter then stabs Luke and leaves him to die. Jordan and Luke's relationship has grown and there is no way she is going to let Peter kill her boyfriend.

Meanwhile, Shackleton is doing everything in his power to find Luke, Jordan, and Peter. He plays an ever-increasing roll in this series and is really turning out to be a nasty piece of work. He will stop at nothing to see humanity crushed under the weight of his virulent virus with only the people of Phoenix surviving. How . . . you may ask? Well, everyone Shackleton picked to live in Phoenix is immune to the virus. . . everyone except Luke. Knowing he is going to die either by Peter's hand or via the virus, Luke knows he is fighting for his life, and for the life of everyone held captive in the town. With Jordan by his side, Luke and his friends battle for the future of mankind.

Once again, Chris Morphew puts pen to paper, well. . . he probably really just types it out on his computer, and weaves a magical story about the end of the world. He does a wonderful job at bringing the people of Phoenix alive and has created a tale of suspense and intrigue that is sure to get the heart pumping faster in every reader's chest. The action in plentiful and the storyline is exciting.

Overall, Fallout is a great addition to a series that is already pretty darned good. I got so wrapped up in the story that I had to read books three, four, and five all in a row. Generally, I like to read a few other stories between books in a series, but I just couldn't do it. I had to find out what was going to happen next! Man, I wasn't disappointed. The action grabbed me by the front of my shirt, twisted me back and forth, shook me around a bit, and then threw me to the ground. I knew I had found something special in this series. Wonderful! So, if you are also looking for that something special, try The Phoenix Files series today. I cannot wait to see how it all ends in Doomsday. Boy, that sounds forbidding.

I rated this book an 8½ out of 10.

Fallout is told from Jordan's point of view. It starts with Luke, Jordan, Reeve, Luke's dad, Kara, Soren and a girl who is extremely fast named Amy, sneaking into the weapons warehouse to get more weapons and ammo. They find helicopters and Luke's dad and Kara fly out to get someone from the outside to help. Everyone else goes back to the Vattel complex underground. Crazy Bill wakes up and starts digging, but won't tell anyone why. Peter keeps getting worse. Tank has decided that Reeve is his boss and does whatever he wants. Mike still thinks Soren is a powerful overseer and follows him around. Jordan and Luke see Mike sacrifice his life to take out the security system because Soren wanted him to. Crazy Bill tells Luke and Jordan that he is Peter and that he never made it back to the present after killing Luke. And he also says that Jordan is the portal into the past and she blew up the Vattel Complex. Luke, Jordan, Reeve, and a couple others leave to find Tobias in the Shackleton building, but can't. Shackleton doesn't seem to know who or what Tobias even is. When they get back to the complex, they find that Jordan's mom's baby has been born. He was named Abraham, after Jordan's dad, but Georgia reads the baby's mind and he tells her that his name is Tobias. The book ends with an electrified grid stretching out to the wall, completing the final lock-down procedures.

Luke is having a rough year. When his parents split up, his mum drags him to Phoenix, a brand-new town in the middle of nowhere. But Phoenix is no ordinary town. There are no cars, no phones and no internet. Luke thinks this is as weird as it gets. Everything is also really clean and sterile.Then he discovers that someone is plotting to wipe out the human race. Phoenix is suddenly the safest and most dangerous place on earth. And the clock is already ticking. There are 100 days until the end of the world Luke, Peter and Jordan (girl) take it upon themselves to try and find out what is going on. They set out on their bikes and discover a massive warehouse which is heavily guarded. After walking on further and climbing a tree, yo their horror, they discover that Phoenix is inside a great big fence but no-one knows. In addition, in the warehouses, there are all the goods the town needs including magazines which are dated for the future so no-one in Phoenix will ever know.

A review of all Books - Arrival - Contact - Mutation - Underground - Fallout - Doomsday

I Love YA and when I stumbled upon this series it was likened to Michael Grant's Gone series so I was definitely inclined to love it.
But I was initially disappointed... the first few books dragged and only because I love a series I continued.
I am thoroughly glad I did. Some of the "off" moments that I didn't understand in the early books came together. Not NEATLY mind you... there were some moments when I wondered "How did HE get there?" but ultimately it was an interesting, convoluted but intriguing way to conclude the final books. It made me realise why only writers get away with this. This stuff is pretty one off in the imagination stakes.

I applaud it and encourage people to stay in there for the conclusion of the series.

I loved this book! I mean, before this book, it was not the best series in the world, probably like 5.5/10... then this book. This book. I'm just... it's so great. It's a lot more action-packed, and there's a twist. A ginormous, brilliant twist! Oh it's so great, so great, IT'S JUST SO GREAT. The twist, on its own, made the book a clear 7/10! I don't think I've ever been so surprised and delighted and happy and... slightly confused, but then I made sure it made sense, and... and... ASRRGGGH. Read this book. Do it.

The phoenix files by:Chris Morphew.It is a mystery or science fiction or could be adventure.Jordan and Luke have just 2 weeks to find the answer that will save the human race.Questions keep pilling up.Example where is Tobias? Can Jordan protect Luke from getting murdered? And how can they do anything to save the world when the town's guarded by a dense surveillance network. The clock is still ticking there is 14 days in till the end of the world.

I just finished reading this book. This book continues the constant battle between Jordan, Luke, their parents and the Co-Operative. Jordan and Luke are still trying to figure out what Tobias is and where it is. Will Luke and Jordan answer these questions or will they be to late and Co-operative from killing everyone?

Finished! I was so confused though by the whole time warp thing. Maybe its just my slowish brain that cant seem to process stuff. But ok, it was weird until... he stuck in an explanation that kinda did help me understand. But Luke. I am prepared to say goodbye...

Recommend! But is it bad I want to kill Shackleton.. Read the first 4 books first, though!

The fifth book in the series, this series is about a small town that no one can get out of! Soon the main characters find out that the leaders of the town are going to wipe out every person apart from the people in the town! So Jordan, Luke and Peter have to stop the evil leaders of Phoenix.

All the books in this series are constant action. Never boring. There's not a lot of character development, so I didn't really get sucked in emotionally, but I never wanted to put the books down because I just had to know what happened next.
