A family secret kept hidden has been exposed, and the consequences could be deadly.

The only bright spot in this nightmare was meeting Mason. But, is she in love with the enemy? Lilyann is in a race against time to save her town and coven. Will she survive the coming dangers, with her heart and neck intact?
Okay, so I'm supposed to tell you about me... Seriously, if I wrote a book about myself it would take you 10 minutes to read and you would be bored stiff after the first 2! LOL
I'm a full-time writer, wife, and mother. Which basically means there's always a surplus of pencils lost somewhere in my hair, I usually have some place to be(I'm always late), I have a bad habit of calling family and friends random character's names (from my books), I talk to myself because no one else listens to me, and I can throw together a mean dinner for 8 with only 10 minutes notice and four ingredients in the pantry, LOL.
If you can't find me on the sidelines of my sons' football games, online, cooking, cleaning, shopping, at the local coffee joint or on the phone wandering aimlessly throughout my house then I've probably hidden myself in my "bat-cave" to write.
I have a positive attitude, and absolute fun-loving approach to life. That makes it easy for the voices in my head to take over on a regular basis providing endless hours of entertainment for my pleasure, and hopefully yours.
Random facts about me:
~My favorite color is pink ~I have a Bishon Frise puppy named Cullen Edward ~My favorite music is hip-hop ~I have a severe addiction to coffee. So much so, that those in my inner circle refuse to speak to me before caffeine O'clock! True Story
ARC for Review. I LOVE THIS BOOK!! An awesome tale of self-discovery and young love!
I was given the opportunity to Read~N~Review this book… OMGosh I loved this amazing self-discovery read!
Vampires, Witchs’ and Ghosts ~ OMy! Lily Moon’s family has a secret ~ one that could get her killed!
WOW! What a wonderful story. Lily Moon has a destiny to fulfill, one that is unknown to her until a beloved family member passes. I really identified with this character in that, I lost my mom at age 12. The physical pain she feels, just made me love her more.
Kymberlee has created a compelling world of self-discovery, self-confidence, first love, family secrets, and coming to terms with responsibility and one’s own destiny.
The characters are well developed, believable, lovable and yes, even some I love to hate! Imagine yourself surrounded by vampires out for your blood! Would you stay and fight?
Suspense and mystery kept me flipping pages on my phone, I had to know what was gunna happen next. Her twist on vampires is refreshing and the way she describes Mason, M~M~M!!! The humor within had me smiling to myself a lot!
I recommend this for all YA Readers out there, this is an awesome twist to the Paranormal Read.
This book has Witches, Vampires, Ghosts, and a family secret. All of which make for fun and page turning ride.
Lily Moon has just lost her grandmother and soon afterwards finds out she is a witch along with all her cousins. Not only that but they are the most powerful Coven around. They have to learn the craft fast before the vampires close in and kill them all. But with the help of the sexy vampire Mason they just might be able to handle their new destiny and prove to everyone why the Moon Coven is so powerful.
Kymberlee writes an amazing world that will have you falling in love with all the characters even the bad ones. The details in this book are so good. You are never lost with any of the characters and what they are going through. We are left with unanswered questions and I can't wait to see how they play out. I love all the characters especially Lily, Mason, and Izzy the cat. I can not wait for the next book to see what happens with the Coven and the Vampires.
Through first love, family secrets, destiny, self confidence, and everything that ties a strong family together. Compulsion will leave you wanting more. 5/5 stars
Although the new cover of “Compulsion” isn’t really my taste, the blurb did entice me to sit down and see what the story is all about.
I finished the book in no time, as the author’s writing is very simplistic and uncomplicated. She takes you into the lives of likeable characters who each discover their powers, grow as persons trough out the book; and a family whose bonds strengthen as they work together to face the dangers that threaten their lives and their very existence as a coven.
The author isn’t sparse with details on the characters’ every move, emotions and their surroundings which allow the reader to experience the warmth and closeness of the Moon clan firsthand. Lily, the main character, has a personality perfectly suited for the role she is given to defend her coven. She is strong, assertive and brave, but at times also emotionally vulnerable. Mason, who would give his life in a heartbeat to protect Lily, is every girl’s dream guy, and by himself a great reason to grab and devour this book. My favourite of course was Izzy the cat!
“Compulsion” is Kymberlee Burkes-Miller’s debut novel and is an enjoyable, easy read which will appeal to the imagination of young adults across the spectrum. After finishing the last chapter of this magical book, the reader is left eagerly anticipating the release of the author’s next novel in this series.
I am pleased with how Compulsion turned out. I'm proud of my achievements thus far. However, don't mistake that for, "WooHoo. I'm in love with this masterpiece that I have written!" That's not the case. Compulsion is my debut novel, and I'm very pleased with my progress as a writer. I love the fact that daily, I learn something new from another author. A new technique on how to make my stories flow with more ease, or an awesome tip about how to explain to the reader EXACTLY what I see in my head. My developement as a writer and this particular story's growth is something that astounds and amazes me daily. Thank you for joining me on Lilyann's adventure. Thank you to all of the reviewers. I have been lucky enough to have wonderful people that are honest about my writing. I hope that you enjoy the ride~Kymberlee
Compulsion is a simple read in that you don't have to have a dictionary next to you to understand it. That makes it easy to sink into it with ease and allows the reader to experience the different layers of the characters.
The story opens with Lily losing her grandma and from there she is whisked into a world of magic she doesn't quite fully understand. The entire levity of the opening scene really pulled at my heart strings and made me appreciate the depth Lilly had, from the start.
I love the way author Kymberlee Burks-Miller added the details of the characters and the surroundings and the many layers she added to not just one but all her characters, thus making it easy to know who was speaking and able to actually picture them.
The world of magic mixed with vampires is not a new concept, however she was able to bring fresh life to that world and make it her own. Bravo on that.
The one thing I loved most about this book was the message of family unity and how it never seemed to be the last thing on the characters minds and hearts. In a society filled with brother against brother and sister against sister, it is nice to see that the main theme of this novel for the YA crowd is all about maintaining the unity of the family.
I look forward to allowing my daughter to read this book and can't wait to read what she has coming in the future. Bravo on your debut novel!! It is amazing!!

I bought this book on amazon~~ Compulsion by K.B. Miller
WOW this is the second book I have read by KB and her writing keeps getting better with each book I read. I love her writing style and love the characters. I think my favorite is Declan and Lily. I had a hard time putting this book down and when had to do motherly duties I kept thinking about the story that had me so enamored. The ending is left at a climax and I with the Lily when she is thinking WHO? WHAT? I'm excited to read the next installment to this fabulous witchy series Harvest Moon! I love how the characters grow in maturity and in powers right before your eyes and you can connect with the characters. This is such a great read!!
When Lily's grandmother dies unexpectedly, her grandmother leaves clues everywhere to uncover a family secret that will unlock the past and send them into a better future. Lily is thrust in the world of the supernatural without a moments notice and is barely hanging on trying to cope with her new witchy powers and the vampires that are out to eat her. With the help of her new coven, can she protect them and defeat the oncoming enemy? I give this a very witchy 5 star review~~!
I enjoyed reading Compulsion very much. I finished it in about 3 hours. I found all of the characters to be engaging and interesting particularly Lily. I understood why she got angry with Mason but when she finally forgave him I cheered. Dax and his brother were so wicked but they served their purpose of making the story exciting for the reader. I am seriously hoping that there will be a sequel so I can get more of Mason and the rest of the Moon clan. I also want to see what Dax has planned next.
Compulsion is a novel enchanted by the imagination of a wonderfully magical author. There are many good things I could tell you about both this author and about this paranormal romance. But because there is only so much time in the world, I will stick with my top three reasons for loving this novel. And as I am a list girl (just look at the title of my blog and page) I've compiled a list. 1: This one is simple. My main reason for liking this novel is the characters that Miller has created. Lily is a fun character with quite a fierce personality. She has character flaws, as a good character should, but she is also very lovable. Mainly, she as well as the other characters in this story are realistic, and far from the idealized perception of perfection. She's selfless, gorgeous, overly loving and outspoken at times. But she is also extremely stubborn, unaware of her own potential, and to a point, her selflessness and strong will could potentially hinder her. These qualities will only make you love her more.
Throughout the novel we get to see this 21 year old grow into herself and into her capabilities. And she isn't the only one. Reading about the Moon family was an experience that make me laugh, gasp, and read the story page after page. From Ciaran to Rionna, the twelve young people of the Moon clan will draw you in. Besides her family, the events that occur with Lily's best friend Cam turned out to be a shocker, and Mason, the handsome paranormal in Lily's life, will make you salivate and daydream about someone like him being destined for you. I did, and for those of you that happen to live on the Eastern shore of Maryland, as I do, the story will entice you even more as Lily's adventures take her in locations recognizable, much like many of David Levithan and Rachel Cohn's books do for New Yorkers. Few books have done this for me- in fact I have a four book list of books I've read set in my location. Rambling over (which is a quality I happen to share with Compulsion's herione), I'll move onto the 2nd reason I loved reading Compulsion.
2: The writing. I mean this seriously, and I'll be brief but my number two reason for liking Compulsion is the style with with Kymberlee writes. The writing is light and fun. It is written in Lily's POV, and it makes me think of her actually telling us the story of what happens in her life piece by piece. So as days pass it seems to me like she is describing the events of her day all at one time, day by day. This is actually amazingly effective because Miller's way of making it seem like Lily is talking to the reader made me feel like an unspoken character in her journey. She writes Lily's words the way a young female would talk to someone close. This made me feel the happiness Lily felt, the sadness she felt, and understand her decisions even if they were decisions I wouldn't agree with.
3. The last of my top three reasons for loving Compulsion is the plot and the way in which the storyline played out. Seems simple, right? Every book has a plot. The difference is how it is written. Now I obviously can't tell you guys the plot. That would spoil the story, but just know it is a story filled with intrigue, twists, and an underlying humor. There is love that is both unfamiliar and familiar to us, the paranormal romance that we'll not be able to experience (unless, you know something I don't) and the familial love we feel for those we care most for. There is anger, and resentment, sadness and hate, happiness and forgiveness. This story is one filled with the magical aspects many humans don't believe in but also filled with the huge range of feelings many of us believe make a person human. I am hoping for a second to this novel as the first hinted that another could come.
There you have it. That's my list. I think it's obvious that in my opinion this captivating novel is a must read. In the end, one of the best things I can say about Compulsion is that it will indeed compel you. So, brava to Kymberlee Burks-Miller. She not only weaved a completely lovable novel, but she picked the perfect title for the book. Who knows? Maybe the person meant to be compelled WAS in fact the reader.
Happy Reading everyone. I give Compulsion a 4.5/ 5 stars.
Lily's grandmother dies in suspicious circumstances, and Lily's world is turned upside down when she finds out that she is from a long line of witches. Along with her eleven young family members, Lily will have to learn how to wield this new found power, and learn fast. Lily is the most powerful witch in over five centuries, but she is untrained and uninitiated. The vampires have found out about Lily and her family, and they are coming to claim the Moon's blood. Lily's only saving grace is when she meets Mason, but has she fallen in love with the enemy? Can Lily save her coven? And can she survive with her heart and neck intact?
As I began to read this story, I was surprised to find out that Lily was 21. I had her "voice" in my head as a teenager. She came across as a bit flighty (in my opinion), and used too many exclamation marks in her thoughts and words. However, Lily undergoes a life changing event with the death of her Grandmother. As I read further into the story, she begins to mature and become more adult. By the end of the book, she had truly become a force to be reckoned with! Mason is a great character. I think I've fallen for his green eyes! The rest of the cast of characters are well written too - the vampires scare me! There is a lot of action that will keep you glued to the pages. The ending sent chills up my back, and now I'm wondering when the sequel will be released, as I would like to know what's going to happen next! This book seems to be aimed at the teen reader, but I recommend this book if you like reading about witches and vampires.
I first met author KB Miller online last year. Her vivacious personality and the relationship she shares with her readers drew me in. I recently re-read Compulsion, the first in The Moon Coven series, and Haunted Moon, a novella. Again, the Moon family’s core values resonated with me. I enjoyed KB Miller’s light writing style and her presentation of strong, family oriented cast of characters. Lilyann Moon, the main character, discovers her witchy-twitchy heritage and meets her love interest, Mason. I love that these stories are ones I’m comfortable sharing with my daughters- the battle scenes provide emotional impact without unnecessary gore, and though the couple shares lots of kisses, the author leaves a lot behind closed doors(and thus, lots to the imagination!).
I recommend this series to the paranormal-loving set that enjoys a frothy, romantic read. All the better if you curl up with some of Paula Deen’s Pumpkin Bars(recipe here) and a cup of java. (Warning: Lilyann’s love for all thing caffeinated will have you jonesing for your favorite beverage)
Compulsion is the first novel by writer Kymberlee Burks-Miller. This book is filled with witch craft, vampires, romance and family unity. The novel follows Lilyann Moon as through a tragedy she is forced a destiny she is completely uncertain of. Through her family, friends, and a surprise love she finds her way and saves more than herself. I love the way the book was written and fell in love with the characters. I had a hard time putting this book down. It was a great read. I felt a personal connection with the novel because of my own closeness to my cousins. I also love that the end was left open for another novel and the possibility of a series. I can’t wait to read more about Lilyann, Mason and the entire Moon Coven. I also can’t wait to read more from the amazing Kymberlee Burks-Miller. I would defiantly recommend the book and give it 5 of 5 stars.
K. B. Miller has done it again! Wow!!!!!! I fell in love with her writing while reading Haunted Moon (A Moon Coven novella), & I've been anticipating the re-release of this novel every since! Miller's a mastermind at drawing us in & refusing to let us go! I loved every bit of it...the characters, the jokes, the relationships, the action packed stake throw downs, & especially the flame throwing! :) Honestly, once I opened it up I could not put it down! And...I think I may have a slight crush on Mason! ;•} Compulsion is 5 Star!!!!! ***** Now I need MORE!!! :) Eagerly awaiting your next release, KB!! <3
I absolutely LOVED this book! It kept my attention on page one and I couldn't put it down!! A witch and a vampire...Who would a thought!! This book is full of suspence, magic, vampires, witches, love, loss, family ties to the past and present, protection, secrets, and kids just trying to be kids in a supernatural world!! I give Compulsion by Kymberlee Burks-Miller 5 out of 5* for this fantastic book and I suggest it be a MUST read!!
Just finished re-reading Compulsion and it's just as good the 2nd time as it was the 1st!!
I really enjoyed the Wiccan facts and rituals that Kymberlee weaved throughout this fast paced story. They were accurate and had me wanting to be a part of the Moon Coven! :)
Ebook: Compulsion (A Moon Coven Series) Author: K.B. Miller Fiction, This review may contain spoilers I was given this by the author for an honest review Summary: A family secret kept hidden has been exposed, and the consequences could be deadly. A world they know absolutely nothing about. The town of Hampstead, Maryland has no idea of the monsters that lurk in their midst. The only bright spot in this nightmare was meeting Mason. But, is she in love with the enemy? Lilyann is in a race against time to save her town and coven. Will she survive the coming dangers, with her heart and neck intact? It all comes down to this one night... All Hallows Eve. **Compulsion has been re-edited and new material has been added** The Review I loved Haunted Moon, so loved it when Compulsion was finally re-edited and released, I was not disappointed, Compulsion has lived up to all my expectations and more from this author, The characters each had their part to play and the author portrayed them beautifully, I loved the family dynamic even when they were under attack, Lilyann Moon didn’t understand why she was left the farm from her beloved grandma, why were they all given the jewellery? I Loved the action packed into the All Hallows eve scene, I adore Mason, can’t wait to read more about him, the plot line was fantastic, it had you on the edge of your seat, I am really looking forward to the next one in this series, I would highly recommend this to everyone, my daughter will be reading it as soon as she has finished the book she is on 6/5
Compulsion is about a family thrown into a heritage they did not know they had, a girl who must step into her destiny and lead her family against an ancient enemy, do her best to keep the family safe, and try to figure out what it is she needs to do to save them before it is too late. It seem ever since Lilyann Moon has found out she is really a witch, actually one of the most powerful witches ever to walk the earth, the supernatural just keeps getting more apparent in her life. Her best friend starts to see ghost, her boyfriend may be something of the supernatural, I mean he is fast, strong and has excellent hearing, and there are menacing vampires out for their blood, Lily’s blood! Oh and did you know there are good and bad vampires? Wow all this to deal with is a short period of time. Why a short period of time you ask, because the Moon family has only until Halloween to figure out how to use and harness their magick, learn the initiation ritual and perform it correctly so they can take their rightful place as a coven, and figure out how to re-raise the wards on the family property to keep the deadly vampires out. K.B. Miller is a very talented writer. She knows how to weave together a great story. She is one of my favorite authors .I loved Compulsion. It kept me captivated by the continue action and secrets that are revealed throughout the story. The story is well written and well put together. It flows flawlessly through the story. There was not one time that I wanted to put the story down because it lost my interest, actually just the opposite; I lost sleep because I couldn't put it down. I have to find out what was going to happen next and if the Moon Coven was going to succeed against all odds. Of course you will have to read it yourself to find out if they do or not.
Hi y'all Anne here and I've just finished reading this fun and interesting story Compulsion by Kymberlee Burks-Miller and let me tell you what a fun read this was. Kymberlee has taken a tale and combined witches, vampires, and ghosts and thrown in some top notch action and heated passion to come up with this story. The story is great and intriguing, from page one the author lures you in with twists in the story and dangles details in front of your face to keep you constantly turning pages. Her attention to detail is amazing considering the amount of characters she is bringing to life in this book. She brings each character to life, and describes their purpose and their individuality to the story as it unfolds. The main characters are beautiful and passionate, they walk the story along from sweet into passionate, from suspenseful into breath taking. I really enjoyed the details in which the witches were described, it made the events and people seem so there and in your face. Everyone can find a character in this book to relate to, if your quirky, fun, sassy, strong, weak, unsure, or just you, you'll find a character in here to fall in love with. Speaking of love lets dip into this preordained connection between Lily and Mason, their love is quick and deep but never faltering. They love with their whole heart and it shows in their protectiveness and passion for not only their selves but the new coven and extended family. I adored the pace of this book it was fun and easy to delve into, get lost in the story of love, magick, and history. I highly recommend this book to any and everyone that enjoys a great paranormal read. 5 out of 5 stars for Compulsion by Kymberlee Burks-Miller I can't wait for book 2 in the series.
I was gifted this book by the author for an honest review.
I just finished Compulsion and I absolutely LOVED it!!!!!!!!! It has just the right combination of supernatural and love story. "I should have totally freaked, but I could count the number of times that a sexy man had stalked me anywhere on absolutely no hands. So, I wasn't going to gripe." -Lily Moon
Not just boyfriend/girlfriend love but love for family. I, like Lily Moon, can sometimes be driven crazy by my family but I wouldn't trade any of them for the world. "Glancing up at the house, tears continued to spill down my cheeks. I sucked in all the air my lungs could handle, and began walking toward my own personal hell on earth. -Lily Moon"
I enjoyed the story of the Moon family's destiny and can't wait to find out how it ends for Lily and her coven. I mean being the most powerful witch in your family's line has to come with some perks right?
I love the whole family. They are all pretty bad ass in their own way and bring strength to the coven. Hope to read some romance for them too in the coming book/books.
Witches and the Craft I think will be my new obsession...but it's a good thing the vampires are also present. They'll always be a fave to read about. Lol.
Download and read this TODAY. you won't regret it. :-)
The book starts with the Grandmothers death and the unveiling of the family secret to the grandchildren-they're witches. Their parents had turned their backs on the craft and were hoping that their children would never find out about it but a life threatening supernatural problem scuppers that.
It had good flowing dialogue although i thought some of it could have been abbreviated to make it more modern but it didnt bother me. It has a very up beat feel with the family unifying together to learn witch craft in a short space of time. The Heroine of the story Lilyann Moon has strength, courage and determination. All the things a main character should have but she does Martyr herself a little
Her love interest the mysterious Mason comes into her life and a world wind romance ensues. I'm not really into romances so I found myself wanting them to have a screaming fight or something, lol but thats just me and my style.
It's a unique read and feels very fresh with a market saturated in just vampire novels. This has abit of everything for everyone. I give this a 3.5 because it just abit too lovey for me when im used to reading Adult content paranormal romance fiction but did definately enjoy it and cant wait for the next one!
I received this book for free from the author in exchange for an honest review. Ever since reading the novella "Haunted Moon" I want to jump right into Compulsion. This book takes place in the present day following around Lily Moon, who recently found out that she is a witch and must lead her coven against an evil gang of vampires. Also Lily is trying to keep her relationship going with a good vampire. I enjoyed the character seven though there were a lot of them. I hope that in the next few books that we learn more about each character. I really liked Lily. I found her to be a great leader and even when she had no idea what she was getting herself into, she gave it her all. Mason seems like a very swoon worthy love interest. I can't wait to see where that leads. I really want to find out more about Lily's best friend Camden, and I wan to know if her baby will be able to see ghosts too. Needless to say, this was a great book. I can't wait for the next instalment. I want to see if Dax gets his dead, clammy hands on Lily. Thanks K. B. Miller for the chance to read and review such a great book.
What you and family do if one day you woke up and found out you were all witches? After the passing of her beloved grandmother, Lilyann finds herself the proud owner of the farm and that’s not just all. Lily and all of her cousins have just discovered they are actually a coven of witches! And to top it off Lily’s new boyfriend isn’t quite what he seems to be. Witches, Vamps and ghosts…OH MY!
I was giving this book as an ARC to review. I must say really enjoyed the story. The struggles that the family share and bring them even closer together than before is wonderful. It’s nice reading a story where there is no family strife. The context makes this suitable for YA but nicely done that even an adult can enjoy it. The characters are all likable without coming off as insincere. I liked the fact that I could sit back and enjoy it without anticipating the next event. I was nearly finished with the book before I realized it was a series. I’m looking forward to reading the continuing story.
I am so happy that I got to read this amazing book!! I have just started reading witch books since I read vampire books always...But this book has opend my eyes to wonderful world of K.B.'s Twitchy Witchy witch's :). I loved this story, every part of it! Lily has a great lead character, she is strong, brave and loves fashion. At first I just thought "Ugh not another girly girl" LOL but in away I liked her for it. I fell in love with the whole Moon family, pluse all the non related members aswell. Mason? We could talk about Mason all day!! At the beginning of the story, when Lily first spotted Mason at the Coffe Shop, he was very creepy :)but with the first words out of his mouth I think I was in love!!!! Not to mintion he likes John Wayne...That stole my heart, I love anybody who loves John Wayne. I am glad that I read Haunted Moon first and got a better look at Granny. I recomend this seired to everyone, so please show K.B. some love and suport and read/review. She has done an amazing job!!
Not only is Kymberlee Burks-Miller one of the sweetest people I have had the pleasure to meet but she is also one amazing author! I'm so hooked on her wonderfully creative The Moon Coven Series! If your a Paranormal Romance freak like I am then you will be trilled with this book! This book has it all Witches, Vampires and Ghosts. Not only is the lead character Lilly amazing but we have a whole family to get to know and love. Miller's unique writing style and loveable character will leave you wanting for more. I am very much addicted to this series and look forward to the next chapter in this wonderful series! I feel that anyone who reads this book will feel the same way. I know my dear friend Kymberlee will one day become a big name in the writing world and she is well on her way! Don't miss out on this amazing author and just brush it off if you do believe me you will live to regret it.
I know this review is short and sweet but that's just the way I like it.
Lily has inherited her grandmother’s farm and all that goes with it. Her grandmother comes from a very powerful witch past and now Lily has inherited all the powers as well as her family members. She meets a wonderful dream man named Mason and finds out that he is a vampire that knew her grandmother. Lily and her family have to work together to protect each other from the evil that is Mason’s brother. As a family, will they be strong enough to save everyone from the evil that lurks around them trying to take Lily from all she loves? I’m curious to see where the Moon family takes us as I’m sure there is to be a second story to this.
I loved this book. I loved the sense of family portrayed and the strength of the characters. So often, vampire/witch book are about someone who is isolated and finds a new world t fit into. This was a refreshing change of pace. I also loved that the wiccan pieces were not made up to fit conveniently in the plot, but were actually well researched. The love story was strong, but not over powering of the overall story arc. I read the unedited edition, not the newest one, so I can not comment on that aspect of it. I will be buying this in print when it is released on February 9, 2012.
A really great book full of all your favorite supe's...witches, vamps, ghosts and more.
Lily is NOT your typical witch, in fact she didnt even know she was one until the untimely and mysterious death of her beloved Grandmother. And the plot only thickens when it is revealed that every member of her family is a witch too!
Compulsion really is a great read that takes you on a journey of self discovery, love and loss, danger, secrets and excitement.
Loved this book! The characters were so real! Totally fell in love with Mason! :-) Can't wait for the next book to come out!! If you love the paranormal and romance plus some adventure then you will love this book!!!!
