About the author

Thomas Stearns Eliot was a poet, dramatist and literary critic. He received the Nobel Prize in Literature in 1948 "for his outstanding, pioneer contribution to present-day poetry." He wrote the poems The Love Song of J. Alfred Prufrock, The Waste Land, The Hollow Men, Ash Wednesday, and Four Quartets; the plays Murder in the Cathedral and The Cocktail Party; and the essay Tradition and the Individual Talent. Eliot was born an American, moved to the United Kingdom in 1914 (at the age of 25), and became a British subject in 1927 at the age of 39.

Bummer. This is not Collected Works at all. So disappointing... Not T.S.Eliot, that is, but Kindle, having allowed this edition on Kindle. And, my bad. I should have read the reviews on Amazon, which stated that. I just couldn't imagine this could be the case. ) Ah well. Fake editions (such as B0CR9Y1CQR) come and go. Great poetry persists.

eliot writes with astounding clarity of mind and prose. he weaves these images which make you feel both beyond and in the midst of the scenes he is creating.

I begin with the simple confession that T.S. Eliot is one of my favorite poets. His Waste Land, Choruses from the Rock, and above all, The Four Quartets, resonate with me. He is not easy to read, not at all. He is obtuse and I am only beginning to discover his references to other works in his poetry.

All his poems are not great and any body of collected works will has some poems that aren't as good as others, but this is an excellent collection.

Not the Collected Works!

Does not contain Ash Wednesday, The Hollow Men, Old Possum's Book of Practical Cats, Murder in the Cathedral, or any of Eliot's other plays. Disappointing.

Gave this my best shot. Enjoyed many of the poems but became bogged down a few times. I'm glad I read the book and I will continue to dip in and out. I give the book a three star rating when of course it should have a five. But I found way too much to understand at one reading, hence the rating.

I love his poetry but those essays are impenetrable.
