I Have a Name and It's Not George!

Rate this book
Like the lacy hem of a turquoise Victorian ball gown, frilly waves lap the white sandy beaches of Barbados— a green dollop in the Caribbean Sea. This leeward island, as other isles there, glories in its uniqueness with its own spin on regional food and a particular slant on English. To the uninitiated or casual visitor, the language of the Bajans is barely recognized as English. Sometimes the locals play the game of “gotcha”. As you snobbishly conclude they don’t understand or can’t speak in proper fashion, they switch to Queen Elizabeth’s tongue as smoothly as a professional driver shifts gears of a high-performance car. But each year, the quirkiness of the language, island rum, warm sun and the chance to buy local trinkets lure people from around the world to this slice of tropical paradise. But in this fictionalized life of Julian Carlton who brutally killed Frank Lloyd Wright’s mistress, her two children and four of his workers on a hot August day in 1914, the author has young Carlton leaving this idyllic setting, a domineering mother, and a soon to be discovered crime to eventually end up as an ax-wielding murderer in Wisconsin. She researched the areas where Julian purportedly lived, the social climate and attitudes that existed and situations he likely encountered which could have served as a catalyst to the heinous acts he committed.
