Rate this book
The highly anticipated third novel in the This Woven Kingdom series, full of explosive magic, searing romance, and heartbreaking betrayal, from the award-winning and bestselling author of the Shatter Me series. Perfect for fans of Leigh Bardugo, Sabaa Tahir, and Tomi Adeyemi.

As the long-lost heir to the Jinn throne, Alizeh has finally found her people—and she might’ve found her crown. Cyrus, the mercurial ruler of Tulan, has offered her his kingdom in a twisted exchange: one that would begin with their marriage and end with his murder.

Cyrus’s dark reputation precedes him; all the world knows of his blood-soaked past. Killing him should be easy—and accepting his offer might be the only way to fulfill her destiny and save her people. But the more Alizeh learns of him, the more she questions whether the terrible stories about him are true.

Ensnared by secrets, Cyrus has ached for Alizeh since she first appeared in his dreams many months ago. Now that he knows those visions were planted by the devil, he can hardly bear to look at her—much less endure her company. But despite their best efforts to despise each other, Alizeh and Cyrus are drawn together over and over with an all-consuming thirst that threatens to destroy them both.

Meanwhile, Prince Kamran has arrived in Tulan, ready to exact revenge. . . .

Layered with exquisite tension and heart-stopping romance, All This Twisted Glory is the explosive third book in the captivating, bestselling Woven Kingdom series.

everyone’s getting pasta and lobster but me

cyrus you have outdone yourself sir!! no one has been as desperate and down bad for a woman, that’s not even his women yet, than mf cyrus.

“he seemed to sink into the grass as he gazed at her, the world blurring beyond the space she occupied” now that’s the look of mfing LOVE!

not much happened in this book. lots of telling and not showing however the multiple rounds of romance and banter we got made up for it.

i don’t wanna spoil anything obviously but the storyline the author is weaving for Kamran..is actually interesting. like i’m not annoyed at this mf anymore.

there were lots of blushing moments and interesting dialogue between the characters. this series is finally getting somewhere serious and i’m in desperate need for the next book.🫠

4.15!

“But life cannot be experienced one emotion at a time. It is a tapestry of sensation, a braided rope of feeling. We must allow for reflection even when we suffer. We must reach for compassion even when we triumph. If you spend your days waiting for your sorrows to end so that you might finally live” – he shook his head – “you will die an impatient man.”

I kind of want woven four more than watch me right now 👉🏻👈🏻 I feel like tahereh' s writing was so enjoyable to read, I love the quotes in this book and I read like the atmosphere she created but much like book 2 this feels like a filler with a bit more plot work than book 2 but there's one thing that I like, it's how she still makes the book enjoyable like ok sure it would be a little slow and confusing at times but I would never be bored and I feel like the length of these books are so good 400-450 is honestly perfect. I like that she didn't drag this book and omgg the last 30% of this book was hands down one of my favourite moments in the entire series.

“He wanted to make her laugh. He wanted to hold her hand. He wanted to bring her tea and walk with her through the seasons. He wanted to watch her conquer the earth.”

Alizeh, I don't really have much to say about her role in this one because she was not present for a considerable portion of the book but there are so many questions surrounding her and her arc in the next book would be so good and fun to read also I love how she friendzoned Kamran because 🙄 deserved and obviously CyrusAlizeh on top 🙂‍↕️

“You can’t lie to me forever, Cyrus. I’m going to find out the truth about you, and when I do, I promise you this: I’ll ruin him. I’ll make the devil regret the day he was born.”

Cyrus, the man that you are. I have never ever in my life read about a character who is this downbad for his girl ( not his girl technically but 🫳🏻🫴🏻) he did everything for her and he literally SWORE 😭😭 I LOVED THAT PART SO MUCH! Because he knew what it meant and he still did it. I love how it went from enemies to attracted haters to potential lovers 🤭 I honestly would not quit this series ever if Cyrus is alive and well. Also the way he humbled Kamran 🤭 loved it!!

“Fiction or not, she'd embedded inside him, replaced the air in his lungs. That she'd proven to be real--more exquisite than he'd dreamed--and entirely ignorant of him, had been more than he could bear.”

Kamran and his court 🙄 this is the most foolish, dumb, and unrealistic court that I have ever seen. Huda, Omid and Dean need to shut their traps. HAZAN, I love him. Kamran 😒 he's the nastiest bitch to ever exist. Look, I liked him in book 1, he was alright in book 2, but him in this 😤 nah uh jail to you bitch because there's no way he'd say and manipulate and think with his delusional ass that he still has a chance with alizeh while she literally declined him and he literally didn't even care about her. Not to mention what he did to her at the start.

“He came to life when she smiled, drew breath when her eyes brightened, died when she left a room.”

The romance 🙏🏻LOVE IT. Easily my favourite part of this book like how much slow burn is too much slow burn ma'am 😾 like three books and not even one kiss 😒 only Cyrus's wet dreams 😭 but the end broke my heart sooo much. The thing that happened at the end made it soooo much better and shaped book 4 to be amazing also CyrusAlizeh confirmed 🤭😋

“He wondered if she had any idea what he'd do for her, the worlds he'd destroy for her.”

As for the plot, not much to say but I know the next book will be more plot focused since this was mostly just build up.

Overall, a filler but a very enjoyable one!
___
Me and Roxy so have been consumed by this series 😭 we NEED CyrusAlizeh to be endgame 🙏🏻 and since the next one is coming out this year we need to get to this 🤸🏻

God, he’d wanted her. He’d wanted her with an all-consuming thirst, with the desperation of a man waiting to die.

CYRUS OF NARA, THE MAN THAT YOU ARE.

this entire book was him being #1 simp for alizeh and i'm not mad about it. i'm loving the rag tag found family vibe developing. i've been a hazan/kamran shipper since book 1 but other things may be developing 👀 and i like it.

i do think more could have happened plotwise in this book, but for the cyrus content she gave me i don't even care. i'll read 6 books of him pining for alizeh. also this got SURPRISINGLY steamy, ok tahereh!!!!

“Do you think I’ve been lying to you?”
“Yes,” she said, and paused. “Except that I have the strangest feeling you might be lying about how horrible you are.”

She was a fool to think otherwise. He was a fool to think of her at all.

⚔️"A cursed crown, a burning fate—where love must choose or rule must break.
In shattered oaths and shadows deep, even kings and jinn must bleed to keep"⚔️🔮

Where kingdoms burn and names are reborn, the soul’s true face awakens... 🍽️Cooked by Tahereh Mafi. Garnished with pain. Served with a dagger to the heart 🗡♡ Tahereh Mafi’s Secret Recipe: “How to Emotionally Destroy Readers in 17 Chapters or Less”
- By Head Chef of Pain & Poetry, Tahereh “I write like my pen is dipped in yearning” Mafi -

🪄Ingredients:
-1 hauntingly beautiful writing style
(Delicately poetic. Every sentence a knife. Every metaphor a scream.)
-1 morally grey, strategic mastermind
(Cyrus, baby. Smirks in pain. Soft hands, sharp mind, 100% ruin.)
-add a queen-in-hiding with the weight of a thousand lives on her shoulders (Alizeh, you ethereal icon)1 resilient, layered, intelligent heroine (Not here to please, here to burn empires.)
-and toss them both into a realm of political games, dark bargains, and aching what-ifs. -A dash of magical realism (Diviners, flying birds, blood oaths) -A gallon of “what we could’ve been”
(Serve chilled and heartbreaking. Sip slowly or die fast.)
-7 spoonfuls of politically loaded conversations
(But the subtext? All “I would bleed for you” energy.)
- forbidden touches (Brush of a finger. A glance. A silence louder than war.)
-98% concentrated yearning for a girl he saw only in dreams -whole pages of internal screaming
(From the characters and the reader.)
-A dash of “I hate you”
(Which really means “I want to devour your soul.”)
-6 heaping cups of unspoken longing
(Tahereh doesn’t say it. She lets your bones feel it.)

🧙‍♀️🫕Directions:
Start slow.
-Mix enemies, history, unresolved tension and a room too small for two people with this much chemistry.
-Add knife-sharp dialogue & power plays.
Make sure to flip the script every few chapters. Trust? Never heard of her.
-Bake until you're clawing the walls and whispering "Just kiss already."
This takes time. Cyrus is a perfectionist. He needs to suffer before he loves.
-Let it cool with a soft moment in the dark.
He’ll brush a tear away or press his forehead to hers like it’s oxygen. You’ll cry. He won’t. (But he felt it.)
-Serve hot. Real hot. Possibly illegal.
Best consumed in one sitting. Do not attempt to be normal about this man. It’s impossible. Serve while sobbing under the stars, wondering if blood oaths are sexy or just tragic ✨Final Result:
You now have a novel that’s:
-Rich in enemies-to-lovers spice 🌶
-Drenched in yearning 🍷
-Layered in heartbreak and hope 🖤
-And sealed with a smug, brooding, "I’d raze the world for you" type of anti-hero that RUINS YOU.
Serving Suggestion:
Serve with a side of heartbreak, and garnish with the tears of readers still screaming “𝘐 𝘞𝘈𝘕𝘛 𝘛𝘏𝘌𝘐𝘙 𝘌𝘕𝘋𝘎𝘈𝘔𝘌!"
🧝🏻‍♀️-AHH!!cyrus cyrus cyrus cyrus cyrus cyrus cyrus cyrus cyrus cyrus cyrus cyrus cyrus cyrus cyrus cyrus cyrus cyrus cyrus cyrus cyrus cyrus cyrus cyrus cyrus cyrus cyrus cyrus cyrus cyrus cyrus cyrus cyrus cyrus cyrus cyrus cyrus cyrus cyrus cyrus cyrus cyrus cyrus cyrus cyrus cyrus cyrus - my anthem!!!!

⚠️ ATTENTION ⚠️

Brace yourself. This is not a drill.
I’m about to go absolutely feral over Cyrus of Nara, King of Tulan, breaker of peace treaties, stealer of girls, murderer of monarchs, and certified tragic poetry boy..

ᯤ -Now playing: Ancient Arabian fantasy music with heavy drums, echoing flutes, and a cursed wind blowing through the throne room.

“𝙃𝙚 𝙘𝙖𝙢𝙚 𝙩𝙤 𝙡𝙞𝙛𝙚 𝙬𝙝𝙚𝙣 𝙨𝙝𝙚 𝙨𝙢𝙞𝙡𝙚𝙙, 𝙙𝙧𝙚𝙬 𝙗𝙧𝙚𝙖𝙩𝙝 𝙬𝙝𝙚𝙣 𝙝𝙚𝙧 𝙚𝙮𝙚𝙨 𝙗𝙧𝙞𝙜𝙝𝙩𝙚𝙣𝙚𝙙, 𝙙𝙞𝙚𝙙 𝙬𝙝𝙚𝙣 𝙨𝙝𝙚 𝙡𝙚𝙛𝙩 𝙖 𝙧𝙤𝙤𝙢.” >>>

🪶Ohk now—brace yourself.
Because I am about to introduce you to the King of Tulan.
Yes. Cyrus of Nara. Alizeh’s pre-destined simp. My current mental illness. The man who made my atoms sing. My bones melt. My brain short-circuit.
My fav game character is Sylus from love and deepspace - but I keep calling him Cyrus now??? That's the chokehold. That’s the delusion. 🤭🔥 Cyrus?? He’s not a man. He’s a menace. The man tormented by Iblees, the literally evil. He doesn’t flirt—he psychologically unravels you.He doesn’t touch—he brushes a knuckle and you’re pregnant with emotions. He doesn’t love—you spend 500 pages begging for a crumb of eye contact.
I’d let him choke me with his royal decree and call it foreplay.🫠
~Let’s rewind
Book 1 (This Woven Kingdom): this menace shows up in the climax, murders his own father (casual), slaughters diviners (love that for him?), kills King Zaal, and then… kidnaps the protagonist, Alizeh. Like ??? Bro what happened to courtship?? Ever heard of a “hello” before homicide?? But also—WHY is he so magnetic??? Why do I want to psychoanalyze him and then marry him???Everyone: “Who the hell is this guy??” Me: “I fear I might love him.”
Book 2 (These Infinite Threads): Now we’re in his mind, and it’s giving ✨ burning guilt, mommy issues, and poetic yearning ✨. He spends half the book fighting himself and the other half falling in love with Alizeh like she’s the last drop of water in a desert and he’s been thirsty since birth. Meanwhile, Kamran’s running around with angst and swords, and I’m like: “Sir can you move, I’m busy studying Cyrus’s emotional damage.”
Book 3 (All This Twisted Glory): THIS is where the unravelling happens. His backstory? Gut-wrenching. His relationship with his mother? Toxic. His kingdom? Crumbling. His feelings? Messy, repressed, loud. He’s literally holding the entire story in his hands and dropping it dramatically like “I am the tragedy. I am the prophecy. I am the boy with a crown and no peace.”
AND I ATE IT UP. LIKE A STARVED WOMAN..

“You don’t know what I want from you.”
BABE I DON’T BUT TAKE IT. TAKE. ALL. OF. IT.

💅✨ THE VIBES:
Imagine if Mr. Darcy was an immortal crown prince, had trauma, said “angel” like a deadly confession, and could kill you with one glare—but instead, he lets you live because you smiled at him. Yeah. That’s CYRUS. 🫠Me, every time he appears on page: 🧎🏻‍♀️ “Your Majesty, how may I serve?” The plot? Glorious. But also, who cares. I was just following Cyrus's voice around like a lost soul in the desert.Alizeh, my queen, you are strong and beautiful—but move, I want to see what my mans is thinking. He calls her angel and now I answer to it🧎‍♀️ He’s not the hero. He’s not even the villain. He’s the plot twist you end up simping for...
“𝘼𝙣𝙜𝙚𝙡,” 𝙝𝙚 𝙗𝙧𝙚𝙖𝙩𝙝𝙚𝙙. “𝙈𝙮 𝙖𝙣𝙜𝙚𝙡.” 𝙄 𝙬𝙖𝙣𝙩 𝙞𝙩 𝙖𝙡𝙡, 𝙖𝙣𝙜𝙚𝙡. 𝙉𝙤𝙩 𝙟𝙪𝙨𝙩 𝙮𝙤𝙪𝙧 𝙟𝙤𝙮 𝙗𝙪𝙩 𝙮𝙤𝙪𝙧 𝙨𝙤𝙧𝙧𝙤𝙬. 𝙉𝙤𝙩 𝙟𝙪𝙨𝙩 𝙮𝙤𝙪𝙧 𝙝𝙤𝙥𝙚 𝙗𝙪𝙩 𝙮𝙤𝙪𝙧 𝙛𝙚𝙖𝙧, 𝙄 𝙬𝙖𝙣𝙩 𝙮𝙤𝙪𝙧 𝙖𝙣𝙜𝙚𝙧 𝙖𝙣𝙙 𝙙𝙞𝙨𝙙𝙖𝙞𝙣, 𝙮𝙤𝙪𝙧 𝙛𝙧𝙪𝙨𝙩𝙧𝙖𝙩𝙞𝙤𝙣 𝙖𝙣𝙙 𝙘𝙤𝙣𝙩𝙚𝙢𝙥𝙩—- and I want Him 😭 ”

Oh, it’s been a while since I felt like this.
Since a character sunk his claws into my soul, made a home in my bloodstream, and left my heart on its knees.

-Since Aaron Warner, really. That man owned my romantic delusions for a decade straight. The gold chair? I built it for him.But I have to make room now. Because Cyrus? He’s not just a new era. He’s a damn apocalypse wrapped in longing and layered in grief.
My atoms? Singing. My soul? Sold. My standards? Elevated to celestial heights. And I’m never coming back. 🧎🏻‍♀️👑✨
“More than that, he wanted to fall to his knees. This tremble inside him, this madness in his heart—it was all for her. All for her. He could hardly look at Alizeh without losing his mind; nearly four weeks he’d seen her only in his dreams, and he’d all but forgotten how finely wrought she was in real life, He came to life when she smiled, drew breath when her eyes brightened, died when she left a room. She’d smelled like roses. His roses.”

🧞‍♀️👑Alizeh of Arya — The Ice-Blooded Jinn Queen Fated to Rise.. — the long-lost Jinn queen, born of prophecy and fire, yet cursed with ice in her blood. Born of royalty, orphaned by fire, and hidden in plain sight — Alizeh is no ordinary girl. She is the prophesied Jinn queen with ice in her veins, shifting eyes, and a soul forged by grief, survival, and hope. Raised in secrecy after her parents were murdered on royal command, she wanders through kingdoms working menial jobs, never revealing her true self — until fate collides with love, politics, and prophecy.
“𝙏𝙚𝙡𝙡 𝙢𝙚 𝙬𝙝𝙖𝙩 𝙝𝙖𝙥𝙥𝙚𝙣𝙚𝙙,” 𝙨𝙝𝙚 𝙨𝙖𝙞𝙙 𝙦𝙪𝙞𝙚𝙩𝙡𝙮. “𝙒𝙝𝙤 𝙙𝙞𝙙 𝙩𝙝𝙞𝙨 𝙩𝙤 𝙮𝙤𝙪?”

But destiny twists again in These Infinite Threads when she’s swept into the rival kingdom of Tulan — into the path of Cyrus, the tortured king with dreams full of her and a pact with the devil himself.

Torn between the prince who once vowed to protect her and the king who bleeds for her, Alizeh's story unfolds across fire, frost, betrayal, and impossible choices. She’s a contradiction in motion: frigid to the touch, yet warm-hearted; meek in status, yet regal in grace. Alizeh's presence is ethereal — haunting even — with eyes that shift like a storm, flickering between the burnt umber of sorrow and the piercing ice blue of vengeance. A gaze like that doesn’t just see — it remembers.
A girl who can vanish at will, but still chooses to stay and heal the broken. A girl raised in ashes, now destined for thrones. She isn’t just a girl anymore. She’s power. She’s prophecy. She’s a queen born of ice — and her crown is coming. ✨Alizeh: "I don't need a charming prince..."
👑 Cyrus: emerges from a cursed dream in gold armor, sweating guilt and seduction
✨Alizeh: "...but I wanna chiggy-wiggy with you boy."
They weren’t just a love story. They were cosmic punishment.

Very mixed feelings about this series after this book. I don’t think I care to continue beyond this point. Tahereh Mafi’s writing is beautiful as ever and very charming. Her character interactions try to still be entertaining. I loved the first book in the series and enjoyed the second, but finishing book two, which I read as soon it came out a year ago, left me feeling nothing but dread at the time for where it seemed the narrative was headed and it had me worried since. Unfortunately, my fears were indeed warranted. The way everything in this series is being executed is just absurdly cliché, juvenile, and mediocre. Particularly for such an experienced author. The plot has literally progressed maybe 5% over the course of three whole books and that’s not even an exaggeration. I was disappointed, but not surprised.

That’s the short of it. In-depth review/rant ahead!

I had multiple issues with this book, and thus, have multiple issues with this series as a whole now.

A love triangle was introduced with our heroine Alizeh at the center in the previous book. The candidates being the book 1 love interest (Kamran) and a character who was introduced towards the very end of that same book (Cyrus). My reaction was: oh no, don’t do this. Not simply because it’s a love triangle. That’s not inherently a problem for me. More because Tahereh did a love triangle in her extremely popular Shatter Me series. But I thought, or hoped, that surely she isn’t going to do the same thing she did in her last series. There’s no way she’s going to switch love interests AGAIN by suddenly ruining the character of Kamran (the initial love interest) and writing Cyrus (new love interest) as some misunderstood sad boy saint with the most tragic life imaginable who deserves our every sympathy, does and says literally all the right things, and therefore deserves the love of Alizeh. Mafi won’t be that predictable. There’s no way she’ll be that stale and boring… right? Right?!

WRONG! That’s exactly what she did and that’s exactly what she is. She LITERALLY has Alizeh call Cyrus “sad boy” in an endearing way and she even went as far as having Kamran accidentally shoot Alizeh in the back with an arrow, just to be saved by Cyrus. Oh brother. Kamran was a drastically different character in this book. Mafi was doing whatever she could to get us to root for Cyrus and paint Kamran as suddenly undeserving of Alizeh’s love, or plainly the wrong guy for her. Alizeh and Cyrus have known each other for TWO (2!!) days and they already can’t look at each other without being overcome with desire and lust. They simply can’t not imagine being in each other’s arms. They can’t not think of each other’s eyes, and hair, and every corner of their bodies. It’s unbearable for them. So strong is their desire. So strong are their feelings for each other. After TWO days, when half that time they thought they were mortal enemies.

Let me be clear: I could’ve totally been on board with Alizeh falling for Cyrus, IF it had been executed properly with real and convincing development. She quite literally knows nothing real about him, but she’s already willing to defend him against the few people she knew before meeting him and run in front of an arrow for him??? Mind you, this is a girl who has every reason to be untrusting and suspicious of everyone. She has been in hiding and has been hunted her whole life. She has everything to lose and he literally kidnapped her. Not to mention she knows he has a deal with the literal devil.

And yet, we have several moments where Alizeh and Kamran are suddenly realizing that *they’re* the ones who don’t actually know each other. It’s comical, really. And I’m going to say it again: she’s known Cyrus for two (2) days. And it’s not as if all that time was spent living like some romantic fairytale. There’s been nonstop drama. When, how, and why has Alizeh developed such strong feelings for this man that it literally aches her heart every time she hears his name??? I sure as heck don’t know.

Enough about the ridiculously unconvincing romance and the drama that surrounds it. Let’s say, we wanted to ignore that aspect and just focus on the plot. Of course we can’t because the “plot” is mostly just used as a backdrop so far in three whole books! In a world that seems so rich and interesting with history, lore, and cultural mythology. This was something I was so excited about from the first book but nothing’s been done with any of it. There’s barely been any action. The minimal progression of this story has 98% hinged on character interactions/banter. A whole lot of back and forth talking about the same drama and very little DOING. Nobody’s making any significant moves. Where is the ACTION??!? This is supposed to be a world of magical people and devils! There’s just been banter and falling in love, with some sprinklings of what is supposed to resemble an actual story here and there. In three whole books barely any time has passed until we randomly get a MONTH time skip offscreen, during which time Alizeh was unconscious, and we had to be told all that transpired in recaps from other characters. But guess what? Barely anything significant happened anyway. The plot progression feels absolutely stunted. It’s moving at a snail’s pace.

It’s actually incredible that the book manages to still be somewhat engaging despite all that. It’s a testament to how magical Mafi’s character interactions and dynamics are.

the fact that this series is not as popular as Shatter Me so many people won't know that Cyrus is as much of a king as Aaron Warner hurts me on a daily basis. like - these two invented being desperate kings.

things my husband can do/has include:
- is amazing at magic
- is gorgeous
- is amazing at fighting
- grew flowers all over his city in honor of the fmc (cryingg)
- is desparate af
- is pathetic and hot
- has a tragic backstory which we still don't know
- can break my heart by using a single line
- is so down bad for his girl he can't think straight
- has copper hair (who knew imma simp for a man with copper hair one day?)
- wears a simple black attire 24/7 🤸🏻‍♀️
- hates everyone but her
- is a king, hello?
- has pet dragons
- can talk to animals
- is an amazing king cause all his people love him

˗ˏˋ ꒰ the writing + world building ꒱ ˎˊ˗

the incorporation of persian mythology is so good, and idk what it is about this world, maybe it's the jinn's, the magic system, the mystery surrounding everything - i just love love love it. and as for the writing - it's so flowery but in the best way possible.

˗ˏˋ ꒰ the plot ꒱ ˎˊ˗

the plot is moving at a snail's pace ffs 😭😭😭 the entire book takes place over a course of 2-3 days (and there's a time skip) and seriously 2 or 3 important, actual things happen. i'm not even joking. pls TAHEREH PLS MOVE THE PLOT FORWARD.

i wanted to rate this book 3 stars but the writing + my interest in the world building + my love for alizeh/cyrus + my love for cyrus didn't let me.

˗ˏˋ ꒰ the characters ꒱ ˎˊ˗

as for the characters: i love alizeh. i love cyrus. i wish i could write a thesis on how much i love them. idc what anyone says.

- Alizeh is so so compassionate, is LOYAL towards her duty and i love to see that. she is actually considering her role in everything, not just taking the backseat, isn't simping 24/7 about the two men but is ACTUALLY thinking about her kingdom, what she needs to do to become a better queen, cares about her people sm 😭😭😭 my sweet summer child.

- Cyrus of Nara 🤝🏻 Shifu of Nara. need i say more? he is so sjdhfgdfjknkwuoterkhjgbdjkfgkjhjajajajajaajjaajajaajjaajjsdsufhdjbgnmduiteahsgfjkbn HE IS SO GONE FOR ALIZEH it's not even funny. everytime that man said something about alizeh, i wanted to cry - like he loves her, but knows that he will never have her. we love men who are a menace for their world but are so down bad for their girls (aaron 🤝🏻 cyrus) 🎀

- Kamran? i will murder him pls. how dare he talk shit about Cyrus. other than that, i don't care much about him. altho i do think he's overhated.

- Hazan? invented loyalty. i love him.

- couldn't care much about remaining characters #sorrynotsorry

˗ˏˋ ꒰ the rating ꒱ ˎˊ˗

this book is so hard to rate because i dislike the pace (i love the book but i just wish more stuff actually happened in it and i could rate it based simply on the story rather than it cashing on my love for the characters), i acknowledge that out of the total of 400 pages - important stuff that actually moved the plot happened in only like a 100 of them, but i will still end up re-reading it cause alizeh/cyrus mean everything to me 😭😭😭💕💕💕🎀🎀🎀

anyhow, here's my quotes collection (mainly of cyrus being a hot, desperate mess):
No one had ever looked at her the way he did, as if the sight of her might be fatal

He was terrified she’d go and do something brutal, like smile at him.

He only closed his eyes against her hair and fought the desperate crush of his chest, the violence of his affection for her. How she managed to disarm him even now, on the brink of death, he could not understand.

She’d shown him more loyalty and tenderness in two days than he’d ever felt in his life, and he knew then, with a force that drove the air from his lungs, that he would never survive her.

He was staring at her with the awe of an idiot perceiving the sun for the first time.

No one had ever cared for him as she did.

“You could probably kill me and I’d thank you for it.”

Indeed she often felt that her parents had vanished to all but her. True, she could no longer see them, yet she seemed to carry their bones on her back, their pain on her shoulders, their hopes in her heart.

Her heart pounded dangerously as she looked around the room at the infinite blooms; the endless, devastating beauty. Her words were a breath when she said, “Cyrus did this?”

Alizeh felt suddenly desperate to see him, felt this need inside her like a physical ache.

He came to life when she smiled, drew breath when her eyes brightened, died when she left a room.

She’d smelled like roses.
His roses.

There was something so gentle about her presence, something that reminded him of magic: all curves, no edges. He wanted to press his face against her neck, wanted to breathe in the fragrance of her skin, the perfume of the flowers he’d grown himself. He wanted to make her laugh. He wanted to hold her hand. He wanted to bring her tea and walk with her through the seasons. He wanted to watch her conquer the earth. He wanted to glide his hand down her naked back, wanted to taste the salt of her, wanted to bite her bottom lip and lose himself inside her.
God, the things he wanted.

He wondered if she had any idea what he’d do for her, the worlds he’d destroy for her

”angel,” he breathed. “my angel.”

i love tahereh and her writing is beautiful, but this series is getting so disappointing. as much as i love the little bits of alizehcyrus, the plot and romance is going absolutely nowhere.

alizeh
she annoyed me a lot in this book. don’t get me wrong, i loved her in the other two, but she made me so mad in this one. she needs to make her move already omg.

cyrus
he is the loml. nobody could ever make me hate him.

kamran
ughh he should have been killed off already! his character pisses me off sm and i hated having to read his chapters 😭 also ik what tahereh is trying to do with him and huda and i don’t support it, he literally compares her and alizeh so much and you expect me to root for them?

”she’d shown him more loyalty and tenderness in two days than he’d ever felt in his life, and he knew then, with a force that drove the air from his lungs, that he would never survive her.”

the plot is driving me insane. like this book literally had no development? alizeh was literally asleep for half the book which was so so stupid, and the blood bond was so UNNECESSARY!! it actually is making me so mad 😭 if a book is 400 pages long, it should at least have some plot development.

i love alizehcyrus with my heart, but tell me why they were only alone together once or twice, and their romance didn’t develop at all? like girl i know you still don’t have feelings for kamran, right? RIGHT?!

(i’m trying to cope with the fact i’ve waited this long for it to release and there was still no confession or anything 😔)

one star for alizehcyrus and half a star for this gorgeous cover 🫶

What have I done?

Why did I start this series even though I KNEW it was incomplete? Why didn’t someone stop me? But even then—I never expected this. I didn’t expect it to haunt my dreams. I didn’t expect to finish reading and then just… stare blankly at a wall, unable to function.

Where do I even begin?

⋆౨ৎ˚⟡˖ ࣪ First, many thanks to évieane for reading this with me. I genuinely don’t think I would’ve survived without being able to trash-talk Kamran with you. I might’ve gone feral.

⋆౨ৎ˚⟡˖ ࣪ Speaking of Kamran… I have never found him more insufferable. Was I annoyed by him in the previous books? Yes. Most definitely. But in this one? I wanted to repeatedly punch him in the face—and trust me, I’m not the violent type, so that was a new and startling development.

Who does he think he is? All he cares about is himself. He thinks he’s SO great. That the world owes him something. That Alizeh owes him—when it was his grandfather who wiped out her entire family and consistently tried to wipe her out, too. And now he’s mad at Cyrus for killing said grandfather, so he wants revenge? What a troll. What a joke.

I was just sitting there hoping someone would scream at him, “BRO. YOUR OLD GEEZER WAS A DISGRACE. Literally NOBODY mourns his loss. GET OVER IT.”

⋆౨ৎ˚⟡˖ ࣪ You know who’s NOT insufferable?

Cyrus.

This man… I have no words. Wait—no, actually, I do:

Alizeh, in his mind: “𝙎𝙝𝙚 𝙬𝙖𝙨 𝙡𝙞𝙠𝙚 𝙖𝙣 𝙖𝙫𝙚𝙣𝙜𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙖𝙣𝙜𝙚𝙡 𝙘𝙤𝙢𝙚 𝙩𝙤 𝙡𝙞𝙛𝙚, 𝙩𝙚𝙣𝙙𝙚𝙧 𝙖𝙣𝙙 𝙢𝙖𝙜𝙣𝙖𝙣𝙞𝙢𝙤𝙪𝙨, 𝙨𝙚𝙧𝙚𝙣𝙚 𝙚𝙫𝙚𝙣 𝙖𝙨 𝙨𝙝𝙚 𝙨𝙡𝙞𝙩 𝙮𝙤𝙪𝙧 𝙩𝙝𝙧𝙤𝙖𝙩.”

My boy is a desperate king. He is desperate for Alizeh. He cannot think when she’s near. It pains him to look at her. He yearns for her so beautifully-

╰┈➤ “𝙃𝙚 𝙬𝙖𝙨 𝙩𝙚𝙧𝙧𝙞𝙛𝙞𝙚𝙙 𝙨𝙝𝙚’𝙙 𝙜𝙤 𝙖𝙣𝙙 𝙙𝙤 𝙨𝙤𝙢𝙚𝙩𝙝𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙗𝙧𝙪𝙩𝙖𝙡, 𝙡𝙞𝙠𝙚 𝙨𝙢𝙞𝙡𝙚 𝙖𝙩 𝙝𝙞𝙢.”

When she was injured and unconscious, he spent his days growing pink roses around the entire city because she loves flowers. And now there are so many roses that the streets are like a pool of pink petals.

He intrigued me in the first book.
He confused me in the second.
And in this one? He destroyed me.

“𝙎𝙖𝙙 𝙗𝙤𝙮,” 𝙨𝙝𝙚 𝙨𝙖𝙞𝙙 𝙨𝙤𝙛𝙩𝙡𝙮. “𝙒𝙝𝙖𝙩 𝙖𝙢 𝙄 𝙨𝙪𝙥𝙥𝙤𝙨𝙚𝙙 𝙩𝙤 𝙙𝙤 𝙬𝙞𝙩𝙝 𝙮𝙤𝙪?”
“𝘼𝙣𝙮𝙩𝙝𝙞𝙣𝙜.”

My precious, precious boy. He suffers so quietly. He tries so hard to stay strong, to seem composed. But inside? He’s sensitive, soft-hearted, eager to please.

Anyway. Point is: he’s 100% whipped. And you all need to read this series.

“𝙒𝙝𝙖𝙩’𝙨 𝙬𝙧𝙤𝙣𝙜?” 𝙨𝙝𝙚 𝙖𝙨𝙠𝙚𝙙.
“𝙉𝙤𝙩𝙝𝙞𝙣𝙜,” 𝙝𝙚 𝙨𝙖𝙞𝙙. “𝙒𝙝𝙚𝙣 𝙮𝙤𝙪’𝙧𝙚 𝙝𝙚𝙧𝙚, 𝙣𝙤𝙩𝙝𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙞𝙨 𝙬𝙧𝙤𝙣𝙜.”

⋆౨ৎ˚⟡˖ ࣪ Now. On to Alizeh.

My queen. My wife. The love of my life. She could step on me and I’d thank her for it. Cyrus would agree with me, by the way.

Cyrus to Alizeh: “𝙔𝙤𝙪 𝙘𝙤𝙪𝙡𝙙 𝙥𝙧𝙤𝙗𝙖𝙗𝙡𝙮 𝙠𝙞𝙡𝙡 𝙢𝙚 𝙖𝙣𝙙 𝙄’𝙙 𝙩𝙝𝙖𝙣𝙠 𝙮𝙤𝙪 𝙛𝙤𝙧 𝙞𝙩.”

How is she so kind, so wise, so soft and yet so badass? That’s the whole package. That’s cheating. Alizeh, please. Be my bestie.

Alizeh as a bestie: “𝙄𝙛 𝙖𝙣𝙮𝙤𝙣𝙚 𝙥𝙪𝙩𝙨 𝙧𝙖𝙩 𝙚𝙣𝙩𝙧𝙖𝙞𝙡𝙨 𝙞𝙣 𝙮𝙤𝙪𝙧 𝙥𝙞𝙡𝙡𝙤𝙬𝙨 𝙖𝙜𝙖𝙞𝙣, 𝙄’𝙡𝙡 𝙠𝙞𝙡𝙡 𝙩𝙝𝙚𝙢.”

⋆౨ৎ˚⟡˖ ࣪ One of my favorite parts of this book is how protective Alizeh is over Cyrus. Everyone else sees him as a monster—a mad king, a killer. But she sees him. And when people talk badly about him in front of her? She gets angry.

And she’s so gentle with him. So soft. So tender. I wholeheartedly approve.

╰┈➤ “𝙎𝙡𝙚𝙚𝙥𝙮 𝙗𝙤𝙮,” 𝙨𝙝𝙚 𝙨𝙖𝙞𝙙. “𝙏𝙝𝙞𝙨 𝙞𝙨 𝙣𝙤𝙩 𝙖 𝙙𝙧𝙚𝙖𝙢. 𝙄’𝙢 𝙧𝙚𝙖𝙡𝙡𝙮 𝙝𝙚𝙧𝙚. 𝘼𝙣𝙙 𝙄 𝙥𝙧𝙤𝙢𝙞𝙨𝙚 𝙄’𝙢 𝙣𝙤𝙩 𝙜𝙤𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙖𝙣𝙮𝙬𝙝𝙚𝙧𝙚.”

⋆౨ৎ˚⟡˖ ࣪ Also, one more thing that only occurred to me in this book…

Why is Hazan so fine?

Like…? LIKE??? They say he’s not traditionally handsome. I DISAGREE.
He has golden-brown skin, ash-blonde hair, and a freckled face. HOW is that not attractive? I was simping the entire time.

He’s so respectful and loyal, always addressing Alizeh as “Your Majesty,” always speaking to her gently. And when he kneels?? Please. I am on the floor.

Since I can’t have Cyrus, I want Hazan. Give him to me.

That's it. This is is the review.
I know. It’s chaos. I gushed. I ranted. But I’m too lazy to delete it all and write something polished.

So here you go.

“𝙏𝙚𝙡𝙡 𝙢𝙚 𝙬𝙝𝙖𝙩 𝙝𝙖𝙥𝙥𝙚𝙣𝙚𝙙,” 𝙨𝙝𝙚 𝙨𝙖𝙞𝙙 𝙦𝙪𝙞𝙚𝙩𝙡𝙮. “𝙒𝙝𝙤 𝙙𝙞𝙙 𝙩𝙝𝙞𝙨 𝙩𝙤 𝙮𝙤𝙪?”
“𝙏𝙝𝙚 𝙙𝙚𝙫𝙞𝙡,” 𝙝𝙚 𝙨𝙖𝙞𝙙. “𝙄𝙩’𝙨 𝙖𝙡𝙬𝙖𝙮𝙨 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙙𝙚𝙫𝙞𝙡.”
“𝙍𝙚𝙨𝙩,” 𝙨𝙝𝙚 𝙬𝙝𝙞𝙨𝙥𝙚𝙧𝙚𝙙. “𝘼𝙣𝙙 𝙡𝙚𝙖𝙫𝙚 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙙𝙚𝙫𝙞𝙡 𝙩𝙤 𝙢𝙚. 𝙄’𝙡𝙡 𝙢𝙖𝙠𝙚 𝙨𝙪𝙧𝙚 𝙝𝙚 𝙣𝙚𝙫𝙚𝙧 𝙝𝙪𝙧𝙩𝙨 𝙮𝙤𝙪 𝙖𝙜𝙖𝙞𝙣.”

“Angel,” he breathed. “My angel.”

-ˋˏ✄┈┈┈┈ I mean this in the most respectful way when I say: BookTok is a bitch.

It’s abominable that it manages to hype all the blandest romantasies, the most toxic of romances and somehow has the gall to keep this literal gem of a series hidden? I’m pissed, nay… offended-

Next time I see shit like Haunting Adeline on my recommendation page, consider me provoked ( ◺˰◿ )

Anyways, moving on to less controversial statements?

I would like to preface this review by saying two words: Cyrus. POV.

POV ain’t a scrabble word, dumbass (ᴗ_ᴗ.)

Remember those bleak days when Kamran POV was wherever you looked at? Hard to forget, amiright? And, are you a deeply disturbed soul who wants an out from Kamran’s bitching and moaning and general blegh-vibe? Well, worry no more. All This Twisted Glory finally tones down on the assault of boredom need I mention Kamran POVs one more time, I’ll resort to murders and gives you an insight into the head of a deeply desperate guy…

Yes, Tahereh Mafi is officially THE one when it comes to perfectly penning the Triple Ds. Let me educate you: the Triple Ds, my dears, make the flawless combination of characteristics that are universally admired in a typical book boy. They are, as follows:

⭑𓂃 Delulu (ง ◉ _ ◉)ง

⭑𓂃 Desperate (ง ͠ಥ_ಥ)ง

⭑𓂃 Devilish (≖⩊≖)

You think it started and ended with THE Aaron Warner? Nah, sisters… you’re all in for a treat ¬‿¬

⋮ ⌗ ┆ ᎷᎩ ᏖᏂᎧᏬᎶᏂᏖᏕ ⋮ ⌗ ┆

: ̗̀➛ 🅛🅔🅢🅢🅞🅝 ① 🅘🅝 🅓🅔🅛🅤🅛🅤: So, Cyrus has the villain mindset, in the sense that he thinks he’s the villain in everyone’s story. That nobody could love him, someone like him sir, hello? You’re the blueprint of all of my deepest darkest desires so SHUT UP!

“Fate, he thought bitterly, was only romantic when one was destined to be the hero.”

You don’t see me having any remotely ROMANTIC thoughts about Kamran, the supposed hero ૮₍•᷄ ༝ •᷅₎ა

Because this man, is hopelessly in love with ALIZEH. And he’s freaking hopeless because he thinks Alizeh has no business choosing a gorgeous, gorgeous ethereal being like him. Alizeh would be a big bad fool not to! As someone who knows the ins and outs of her glorious mind, I can rely on her to make the right choice that’s not Kamran cuz BLEGH!

Where Warner was delusional in the hopeful way, Cyrus is delusional in … well, the hopeless like I’ve mentioned only a million times now way. I love how he used to pick on Kamran as the Melancholy Prince. How the tables have turned, you’re the Melancholy King now (◍•ᴗ•◍)

: ̗̀➛ 🅛🅔🅢🅢🅞🅝 ② 🅘🅝 🅓🅔🅢🅟🅔🅡🅐🅣🅔: He’s pathetic for her. I mean no exaggeration, by the way. I doubt my rudimentary description skills could encapsulate just HOW desperate he truly is so we’re back with a quote-fest (੭˃ᴗ˂)੭

“He was terrified she'd go and do something brutal, like smile at him.”

What’s brutal is the effect this simple sentence had on my already-fraying sanity ~

For reference, I banged my head on the wall an unholy amount of times

“He wanted to make her laugh. He wanted to hold her hand. He wanted to bring her tea and walk with her through the seasons. He wanted to watch her conquer the earth.”

If this ain’t desperation, then I don’t f***ing know what is ヽ(°〇°)ノ

“He came to life when she smiled, drew breath when her eyes brightened, died when she left a room.”

Cyrus, shut up before I do something insane like MARRY YOU! I have one too many book husbands already, as it is, and you’re making it hella difficult to be committed and loyal (¬_¬")

“For as long as he lived he feared he'd know the scent of her, the sound of her walking toward him. She was a fool to think otherwise.

He was a fool to think of her at all.”

Seriously stop, you’re bordering on being perfection. ATROCIOUS.

These were all his thoughts, so you can’t even begin to imagine what he could really do for her.

Hint: Grows pink roses across the city for her ಥ﹏ಥ

: ̗̀➛ 🅛🅔🅢🅢🅞🅝 ③ 🅘🅝 🅓🅔🅥🅘🅛🅘🅢🅗: Need I spell this out for you? Because I have to believe you’re new to the fangirl-zone then.

This, my loves, is a tale as old as time. It’s the classic, decades-old attraction females have had to a species of what they call the B-A-D-B-O-Y-S. If you’re in, you need only sign up •𐃷•

Flirts with smirks and winks, and they love killing in cold blood too ᕕ( ᐛ )ᕗ

Reference: Book 2 in it’s entirety (˵ ¬ᴗ¬˵)

⋮ ⌗ ┆ ᎷᎧᏒᏋ ᏖᏂᎧᏬᎶᏂᏖᏕ (ᏁᎧ ፈᎩᏒᏬᏕ ᏋᎴᎥᏖᎥᎧᏁ) ⋮ ⌗ ┆

Before you all accuse me of making an entire book review and only talking about Cyrus so what? He’s THE plot I would like to add some additional thoughts!

: ̗̀➛ 🅟🅡🅞🅣🅔🅒🅣🅘🅥🅔 🅐🅛🅘🅩🅔🅗: Alizeh is a woman of many virtues, but I hadn’t expected this in the dizziest of my daydreams. Gone is the woman who makes polite death threats at Cyrus don’t worry we’ll get more, I’m sure and in her place we have:

“You can’t lie to me forever, Cyrus. I’m going to find out the truth about you, and when I do, I promise you this: I’ll ruin him. I’ll make the devil regret the day he was born.”

You know what’s better than when he says “Who Did This To You?”… when she says “Who Did This To You?” or better yet, when they both say to each other… what’s a better way to confess love?

: ̗̀➛ 🅗🅐🅩🅐🅝: Hazan… was he made to be this attractive? Correct me if I’m wrong, but he was meant to be the Kenji counterpart in This Woven Kingdom, if Kenji were the tiniest bit more intense. So I guess I understand why I love him the way I do. I’m just saying, that Tahereh should stop. Making attractive MMCs is one thing, but making holy-shit-he’s-attractive side characters too, is a travesty too big ( •̀ - •́ )

I always loved Hazan, but I realised just HOW much, in this book. If I smell any secret betrayal, I swear to god I’ll ravage. #MaybeAHazanPOV?

: ̗̀➛ 🅑🅘🅣🅒🅗🅨 🅑🅞🅘 🅚🅐🅜🅡🅐🅝: I remember past me acknowledging that her bitch-boi senses were tingling, and here we are. I knew Kamran would get the Adam Kent treatment soon enough, but while in Adam’s case it felt the tiniest bit staged, for Kamran… the slow downfall of his morality this may come off as an exaggeration to some made sense. It was building up all this time, to wherever we are now, with Kamran. The urge to snap his neck was insane, and you know what? While in the early stages of this series, I actually enjoyed how snobby he was even in his thoughts. But in this instalment, he’s gotten wholly MEAN and that’s a no-go.

I also smell an enemies to lovers with a certain Miss Huda but oh well, that might just be me drawing unnecessary conclusions ( •᷄ᴗ•́)

HUDA. DESERVES. BETTER. PERIOD.

»»——★ fιnαℓ тнσυgнтѕ ★——««

➳ To think I would die of impatience. That’s what everyone will know from my tombstone. Well, at least lay down the fourth book’s paperback near my grave flowers will do too, I guess (ᴗ_ᴗ.)!

ㅤ ‍‍‍‍‍‍ ㅤ ‍‍‍‍‍‍ ⤿ the way this book broke me all over again, and I once again don't know what to do with my life...
Also, fuck you Kamran.

ㅤ ‍‍‍‍‍‍ I've literally been staying here for hours, trying to at least made myself start writing this review. And even as I am finally finding at least a slight piece of my thoughts and starting to write them down here, I still find it so hard to put them in order and to manage to create something that will be at least slightly coherent. This whole thing is, of course, a good sign, because this book managed to render me completely speechless in such a beautiful way that I am not even sure my review will grant it the deserved appreciation.
ㅤ ‍‍‍‍‍‍ But, as I am still struggling to find my words, I shall try to at least share some of my genuine feelings about this book and truly hope they will, at least, make sense for you.
ㅤ ‍‍‍‍‍‍

ㅤ ‍‍‍‍‍‍ ‍‍‍‍‍‍ ‍‍‍‍‍‍ ‍‍‍‍‍‍ ‍‍‍‍‍‍ ㅤ ‍‍‍‍‍‍ ‍‍‍‍‍‍ “He wondered if she had any idea what he'd do for her, the worlds he'd destroy for her.”

ㅤ ‍‍‍‍‍‍ ‍‍‍‍‍‍ ‍‍‍‍‍‍ ‍‍‍‍‍‍˗ˏˋ★‿︵‧ ˚ ₊⊹ short summary
ㅤ ‍‍‍‍‍‍ "All This Twisted Glory" by Tahereh Mafi is another beautifully written instalment in the This Woven Kingdom series, where the prose is so lush and lyrical, it feels like every sentence is spun from gold and sorrow.
ㅤ ‍‍‍‍‍‍ The book leans hard into heartbreak and emotional unravelling—particularly through Cyrus, whose inner turmoil and guilt practically bleed off the page. It’s heavy, raw, and often devastating in the best, most poetic way.
ㅤ ‍‍‍‍‍‍ Plot-wise? It’s a bit thin. Not a ton happens, and the pacing can wander, but somehow, you’re still hooked. The writing, the emotions, and the constant feeling that something tragic and beautiful is just around the corner keep the pages turning—even when the story itself drifts.

ㅤ ‍‍‍‍‍‍ ‍‍‍‍‍‍ ‍‍‍‍‍‍ ‍‍‍‍‍‍˗ˏˋ★‿︵‧ ˚ ₊⊹ honest thoughts
ㅤ ‍‍‍‍‍‍ ⋅ ☾ I feel like I started each and every review concerning the books from this series with the same thing, which is my insane appreciation for the writing and the genuine awe that fills me each time I read one more paragraph from this magnificent work. To be honest, I was, at one point, afraid that the writing would get slightly worse the more I got into this series, but the exact opposite happened; the more I read, the more beautiful the writing complements the world and the characters of the book.

ㅤ ‍‍‍‍‍‍ ⋅ ☾ I did feel like this book served as some kind of a filler book, but I did not mind it a single bit. I am usually the type of person that, if a filler-book is still written well and it feels like it was placed right in the progress of the entire series, I do not mind them at all. I enjoyed this book almost as much as I enjoyed the second novel in the series, and I have absolutely no complaints regarding the clear absence of a fast-paced and gripping plot.
ㅤ ‍‍‍‍‍‍ I feel like the scope of this book was to finally create and to deepen the relationships between some of the characters. And, in my opinion, since it did that perfectly, I did not really mind the absence of a clear progress in what concerns the action itself. But I can definitely understand why some people were disappointed with it. (If I am being honest, for me, this writer is in the habit of somehow "milking" her series as much as possible)

ㅤ ‍‍‍‍‍‍ ⋅ ☾ Despite usually being entirely captivated by a book that brings me insane action that would carry me all through the book's world and keep me on the edge of my seat concerning what will happen next, I also have a huge guilty pleasure: books that focus on feelings and transpire the world of 'words on a page' in such a way that they make me fall into the clutches of those tormented feelings myself. This is one of those books, and I will therefore never be able to talk against it. I love getting so absorbed into a book that I manage to feel exactly what the characters are feeling; and this is exactly what happened here.

ㅤ ‍‍‍‍‍‍ ⋅ ☾ I tend to hate the miscommunication trope more than a lot of other things in books, but if that trope manages to bring with it a yearning and suffering so exquisitely beautifully written, then I am entirely sold. The romance in this book made me feel like my soul was reaching Heaven, full of hope, before it was brutally yanked back down and thrown in the depths of Hell. REPEATEDLY. This is genuinely the only way in which I can describe it, and I will not elaborate more on this because I want to make you all read this series for yourself.

ㅤ ‍‍‍‍‍‍ ⋅ ☾ Once again, I am left utterly speechless with how a book that does not end in a cliffhanger in any way manages to make me desperate for the next book and pushes me to the limits of sanity while being forced to wait for the next release. All I know at this point is that the ending of this book made me want to lie down in my bed and stare emptily at my ceiling before I finally find an ounce of will to untangle my poor, battered and tortured thoughts; of such beauty is the ending of this novel that all I want to do is pick it up once again and reread it.

ㅤ ‍‍‍‍‍‍ ‍‍‍‍‍‍ ‍‍‍‍‍‍ ‍‍‍‍‍‍˗ˏˋ★‿︵‧ ˚ ₊⊹ characters
ㅤ ‍‍‍‍‍‍Now this is the part where some of the things definitely shifted for me in what concerns the characters; some of the things being something that I, personally, didn't really find myself enjoying as much as I wish I did.

ㅤ ‍‍‍‍‍‍ ✧ Alizeh - The truth is Alizeh is rather absent in this book, and when she is finally back to being an active part of the book, she seems rather changed in what didn't seem to be the best version of herself. Here, I am going to refer especially to the last part of the book where this extremely outspoken and bold character seems to rather lose herself in some strange sort of confusion. I did not enjoy that Alizeh, as a character, seems to turn into a slightly passive character, easily swayed by the opinions of others and incapable of voicing her beliefs and opinions as bravely as before. I did not enjoy this shift at all, and it all seems rather unnatural to her character development that we encountered so far. I am really hoping book 4 will manage to restore the brave, bold and impressive traits of her character.

ㅤ ‍‍‍‍‍‍ ✧ Cyrus - I think I genuinely have absolutely nothing bad to say about this man as a character. If I thought the previous book managed to break me with the yearning and pining this man exudes in everything he does and in his tormenting internal monologues, I was utterly unprepared for what this book will put me through. This man is anguish given form; the is the only honest way in which I can describe him. And when you add a small trope of miscommunication to the already suffocating pain and torment of this man, you get the perfect recipe for having your heart entirely shattered. But I would like to genuinely ask the author to put an end to this man's pain and give him a break; he's haven enough! 😭

ㅤ ‍‍‍‍‍‍ ✧ Kamran - All I understood from this book is that he is the type of man that will not understand that "no" definitely means NO. 😅 And that he is an absolute prick that lacks in both manners and basic politeness.
ㅤ ‍‍‍‍‍‍ I will just say that no, he did not suddenly change in this book and no, he wasn't written out of character. All his red flags (entitlement, lack of control of his anger, baseless possessiveness, superiority complex) were there from the very first book; they were all just amplified because he literally suffered a trauma with the death of his grandfather and he is currently on a childish revenge rampage where he treats everyone with complete lack of respect and decency.

ㅤ ‍‍‍‍‍‍ ✧ Hazan - Now I badly need this man's secrets to get uncovered as soon as possible; otherwise, I might simply combust from curiosity. He was an absolute protective king in this book, and I badly need him to open up to Cyrus way more than the small glimpses we got here.

ㅤ ‍‍‍‍‍‍ ✧ Huda - I want to personally thank her for taking lessons from Hazan in "putting Kamran back in his place and giving him a reality check" because she was an absolute menace in this book. Her friendship with Alizeh is also so entirely endearing.

ㅤ ‍‍‍‍‍‍ ‍‍‍‍‍‍ ‍‍‍‍‍‍ ‍‍‍‍‍‍˗ˏˋ★‿︵‧ ˚ ₊⊹ should you read this?
ㅤ ‍‍‍‍‍‍ It looks like I already managed to accomplish my goal, as it seems I have already convinced a rather impressive number of people to read this book. But, just in case you haven't read my previous review and you don't know about my self-imposed quest of convincing everyone to read this series, then the simple answer to this question is yes, you should definitely, absolutely and without any doubt read this book. It is absolutely beautiful, and where it lacks in plot development, it makes up for it in magnificently beautiful writing and feelings.
ㅤ ‍‍‍‍‍‍ I am willing to do anything to have the next book sooner....I am unsure what I am to do until September....

”Fiction or not, she'd embedded inside him, replaced the air in his lungs. That she'd proven to be real--more exquisite than he'd dreamed--and entirely ignorant of him, had been more than he could bear.”

it killed me a bit that i didn’t love this one but it felt kinda dull compared to the previous 2 books. Alizeh is basically out of commission for a section of the story, so we get more of the side characters and Kamran. i honestly didn’t know that people disliked him but now i kinda get it cause he was sooooo dramatic and whiny throughout this whole thing.. it was grating on my nerves. i still love Cyrus and his relationship with Alizeh, this man is down so bad and i always love that. i also really enjoy Hazan and all his witty commentary.

”He wondered if she had any idea what he'd do for her, the worlds he'd destroy for her.”

i was so bored for the majority of this and even though book 2 didn’t have much of a plot either, i still ate that one up while this felt like it dragged on even with the audio. the ending does pick up and I’m curious to know more about Cyrus’ situation, he’s always in pain and turmoil but im hoping Alizeh will be able to help him. i still plan to continue on with the rest of the series but this was a big disappointment for me unfortunately.

”He might be driven to kill a man just to improve her view out a window. He might renege on the entire deal, just as the devil desired.”

I finally read!
I honestly kind of expected an "Ignite me"-experience, so I'm a bit disappointed that not much happened 😅
but since we are getting 2 more books, I hope we'll get more Cyrus/Alizeh-moments 🙏🏻♥️

This was so bad. So bad.

1. Taherah Mafi has such a talent in dragging the plot at an absolutely glacial pace. Why does it take CHAPTERS AND CHAPTERS to spend time on the tiniest bit of plot?

2. Why were we present for only 48 hours of this book? The time skip was SUCH a cop out. TM is allergic to passing any time whatsoever

3. Cyrus was not compelling to me whatsoever. I’m supposed to feel bad for him? All this mfer does is talk to the devil and dream about sleeping with Alizeh. HOW IS THIS ROMANTIC…

4. Alizeh has spent 48 hours with Cyrus and feels all these intense emotions about him… why??? It makes no fucking sense. STAND UP ALIZEH, this guy SUCKS

5. Kamran was given the Tamlin treatment, aka making his personality so insufferably bad so that we are forced to like Cyrus as the main lead. His character is a polar opposite to the guy we loved in Book 1, and his entire character arc was thrown out the window. S M H

6. The Huda/Kamran impending enemies to lovers arc is somewhat interesting, albeit still poorly done

The ONLY shining point in this book was Hazan. He was more interesting than the other 2 leads combined. I’m begging for a happy ending for this man.

Needless to say, if I become insane and choose to read the rest of this series, I’ll borrow it from the library/find a download. This was not worth my money.

CYRUS IS THE STANDARD!! the way this man yearned for alizeh and painted his WHOLE kingdom with pink roses just because she liked them?!?! 🥺

i am so glad we got cyrus’s point of view this book because seeing how he viewed alizeh and his PINING for her was so heart wrenching!! please tahereh mafi give him a happy ending next book because this man was GOING THROUGH IT!!

finally kamren was not an absolute annoyance because him and huda?! now that’s real enemies to lovers—they don’t even have a SLIVER of attraction for each other. their little banter moments and fights were SO CUTE!!

aside from the romance and found family aspects though the book, the plot itself was pretty much more “tell than show.” the first half of the book i felt like stuff was happening but nothing too significant to the plot itself. it also ended on kind of an anti-climatic ending so i feel like it could benefit from more action plot-wise.

still though, the SECOND the 4th book comes out i am RUSHING to the store to get it because i love cyrus and alizeh so much!!🥺

╰┈➤ tropes to expect!
✎ blood oath between fmc and mmc
✎ heir to the throne fmc
✎ yearning mmc
✎ marriage of connivence
✎ found family aspects

okay it’s finally time to start this sequel!! i fell in love with cyrus in ‘these infinite threads’ so i only have the highest of expectations for book 3!!🩷🤍

(P.S. if you love aaron warner and want him in a fantasy book with amazing world building—drop your tbr and read this right now!!)

‎ well someone please tell me why Cyrus is so underrated? That's crazy

‎ I started this woven kingdom a week ago and I couldn't stop reading the series until I'm done, and I'll have to wait until September 30 for the next book. You may be asking why I've done this to myself? I̶t̶'̶s̶ ̶b̶e̶c̶a̶u̶s̶e̶ ̶I̶'̶m̶ ̶a̶ ̶b̶i̶t̶c̶h̶ ̶a̶n̶d̶ ̶I̶ ̶l̶o̶v̶e̶ ̶t̶o̶ ̶s̶u̶f̶f̶e̶r̶.

‎ well you know what the best part of the book is? 𝐂𝐲𝐫𝐮𝐬
‎ he was so desperate for Alizeh, literally yearning for her😩😩

‎ My girl Alizeh, she has been unconscious for a while in the beginning, why? Oh because of the manchild Kamran 🤓
‎ she's  kind and amazing as usual. I loved that she now doesn't see Cyrus as a cruel mad king as everyone sees him.
‎ And the last sentence she said? I'm so down to see what's gonna happen next🤭

‎ arrogant, stupid, spoiled, and I'd be so grateful if he died 🙈

‎ And Hazan is so attractive wth?🙈 his conversation with Cyrus was a bit suspicious, so he better not be hiding something bad😔
