Angel Hill #5

The Man in the Window

Rate this book
When Todd Morgan finally moved out on his own, the last thing he expected was the feeling of isolation that came with breaking his leg in a new town, far from his home. That feeling only got worse when the man in the window showed up, a small somehow familiar man who did nothing, just stood there and stared. The worst part is Todd’s the only one who can see him. But this is no imaginary playmate. The man in the window brings with him memories Todd buried years ago, and once they’re woken, he’ll have to make a trip back home to evisit the worst day of his life.

3.5 star read.

This was a damn creepy book! The author does an excellent job of stoking the fires of intense dread throughout the novella and also the sense of isolation that our main character is feeling. The bugs alone were enough to raise the poop-your-pants tension ..... I HATE bugs!
The last third of the story took all of the "unknown" premise from the start of the book and wove the threads together to reveal the reason why everything was happening. It's hard to say much more without revealing the occurrences that build the terror towards the grand finale and surprising reveal.
My only complaint was that I found the two "parts" of the story didn't quite mesh together smoothly; it felt like there was a distinct Part A and Part B of the novella.
The story has definitely heightened my interest for the rest of the Angel Hill series. I want to find out what else happens in that creepy little town!

This was a pretty good story set in Angel Hill, MO. I liked the set up and how the point of it all came to light in the end once our main character Todd ( I think that is the fella's name:-/ and I'm too lazy to check, sorry), figured out what was going on. I'm a chicken and listening to this on audiobook while I worked from home freaked me out a little bit, but I liked that thrill. I suggest the book to anyone who likes a good creepy book every now and then.

It’ll scare the wits out of you.

Todd, a young man who moved out on his own to a new town, breaks his leg, and starts to see a man in the window. A man he is the only one who can see. Only this would be creepy enough, but there is roaches.
The first time he sees the man in the window is outstanding. It scare the wits out of you. Believe me.
Because of his broken leg, he takes painkillers, and the author keeps us wondering if the man and the bugs are just side effects of the pills, or if they’re real. The hallucinations or visions (whatever the truth is) drives him to a point of almost insanity.
Moore is a remarkable writer. He leads us through Todd’s mind making us feels antsy, scared, and even makes us realize that we’d probably have the same reactions as the character. Yes, sometimes I guess I would leave my lights on at night and the blinds down like him. I’m not kidding.
I’m horror addicted. I love reading and watching horror movies and TV shows. I’m proud I can usually figure out what is going to happen next or how the book or film will end. Well, it’s not the case here. I was totally surprised by the ending. I could never foresee that coming.
It was the first book I read by this author but I’ll certainly read more books he writes. I highly recommend this book.

Is the man real or a hallucination? Only the storyteller knows.

It has been a long time since I read a story that kept my interest like The Man in the Window. I can only best describe the experience as being like driving by an accident on the highway, you don’t really want to look, but you can’t stop from looking because there is that innate human curiosity for such things. The prologue of this story was much like the accident, once I had seen it, I needed to know more and to see the results. Suffice to say the body of the story kept my interest and then took such an unexpected turn at the end.

I received The Man in the Window: An Angel Hill novel from an author giveaway and chose to provide a review.

This book was not as good as Moore's Third Floor, however, I liked how there were different situations that the characters were in in the different novels. It didn't seem that the stories repeated and the plot was rather intriguing. I just wish that it could have been dragged out a bit longer. Other than that, it was a good read.

The Man in the Window, my thirty-fourth read from author C. Dennis Moore. Another well-written & enjoyable read in his Angel Hill series. I always look forward to the next work from him. I bought Kindle copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review. I look forward to reading more from this author. Time to read yet another Angel Hill book. I really enjoyed this book, very fast read. I wonder if there will be a sequel, since the ending kind of left you hanging. Don't know what happens to the main character.

The Man in the Window is the second book I have read by C. Dennis Moore. It is a good, creepy horror story. Todd has finally moved out of his parents house and rented a house in Angel Hill. He is illustrating books for a living so he works from home. Todd is not in his new home long before he breaks his leg on the cellar stairs. His car is a stick shift so he can not drive. He begins to see a man in the window starring at him. No matter which room he goes to the man is there. No one else can see him. He seems vagely familiar to Todd.

this was a weird one but it all started coming together near the end and i really liked the last 20 pages, i was really IN the story. Still left me with a number of questions and a few little holes in the story, but it is what it is... a nice rainy day novella, with some twists and lots of bugs... the first paragraph actually creeped me out, i hate roaches and bugs so much.

Very good book, when you are in the mood for a good scary story. The ending left me wanting to know more about what happened to the main character. Maybe a sequel coming?

This wasn't as gripping as "The Third Floor", but had enough spooky moments to keep me reading. Really like this author and his "Angel Hills" books though.

I didn't like this one as much as The Third Floor but it was still decent. I'm a fan of the sad happy endings.
