Despite my last name being Kingsley, I had to work hard for my crown. I’m a gifted hockey player but earning a spot on the Hannaford U hockey team took more than talent. When it comes to dating, that’s a different story. I’ve always had it easy. There’s never been a girl I couldn’t win over. Until I met Gia Mancini, a goddess among mortals—not only did my charms not work on her, she friend-zoned me. But our story isn’t over yet. She messed up, and the only way she can fix her mistake is by agreeing to fake date me. Now the game is on, and I’m not opposed to playing it dirty.
Omg I didn’t expect this book to be too good😱 A college romance but it’s so very safe and very romantic story🥺❤️ It melts my heart every single time when I read the chemistry between the couple cause it is so freakin romantic beyond words. And also even though the book is long, not a short story, but their love story is not that heavy! So many of the romantic scenes! Like totally a safe book from the start❤️❤️
This author is new to me so I’m so happy to find this book🥺
Sometimes a college romance book that is safe and romantic is very hard to find these days. So many of the unnecessary childish drama and so many drama with other people😅🤣 BUT THIS BOOK OMG. Even in the beginning is very safe!!!!! Like you don’t have to worry about a thing about this book⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ This book totally needs a five stars indeed. Not only the cover is amazing but the whole book is very romantically beautiful🥺 Many positivity and many romance 🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩
I was so happy reading this book that have many positivity and many romance😍 Not all of it though. But still many of that which is very refreshing to read if you are in a mood of not toxic and heavy romance😍😍
Okay moving on….
The book starts with the hero himself is watching the hockey game and specifically watching the team that he will join in a few months when he goes to the university. While he was watching the game and waiting for his row to be empty, he immediately saw the heroine. And he was so blown away with her… “I look around. And that’s when I see her, the most beautiful girl I’ve ever laid eyes on, exiting a row a couple of levels up from mine. Light brown hair secured into two braids, flawless tanned skin, and a face that belongs on the cover of a magazine. She’s perfect.” ❤️❤️❤️ He then follow her quickly hoping to catch her but he can’t find her… Then he goes near to the locker room to see the heroine is talking to her ex boyfriend. Well, by the way they were talking it sounds like a ex boyfriend and that he is🤣 When the conversation got so heat up, the hero saw the ex was so mean to her and he was so mad about it… The hero even likes the heroine is sassy and defending herself to the ex which is wow. “She has the looks, the personality, and she’s loyal—basically, she’s the whole package and is quickly becoming my dream girl. I’m a second away from punching that asshole in the face when someone else walks out.”. After the conversation is over, the heroine hurry up to go to the women’s washroom. The hero was not able to catch up with her because he definitely wants to introduce himself. But that didn’t stop him for still wanting her and obsessed with her 🥺❤️ “Patience is not a virtue I have, especially when I want something. And I definitely want to get to know her.”. Even SIX MONTHS LATER when he finally joins the team and goes to the university, HE STILL OBSESSED AND WANTS THE HEROINE SOOO VERY BADLY. More than ever😍 He still thinks so highly of her🥺 “The girls near the entrance glance in our direction, and they’re all smiles. I check them out because they’re hot chicks wearing skintight clothes, but I’m not interested in any of them. There’s only one girl I’m hoping to see tonight. I haven’t been able to erase Gia Mancini from my mind since I witnessed her fight with Ryder Westbrook, but it’s been two months since I moved to Fairbanks, Connecticut, and I have yet to meet her. It turns out my dream girl works for the team as the social media coordinator. I didn’t meet her in Tampa. She never returned to the locker room, and later I heard she cut her trip short and returned home. To say I was bummed out was an understatement.” 🥺❤️
Like literally the day he saw the heroine and meet her in person, HE CLAIMED THE HEROINE IS HIS GIRL AND DREAM GIRL. HE HAVE TO HAVE HER ❤️❤️❤️❤️
‼️‼️‼️TRIGGERS: Stalking, bad comments on social media about the heroine, violence and alcohol.
‼️‼️‼️SAFE ROMANTIC VERY HOT LOVE STORY.
‼️‼️‼️LOVE IN FIRST SIGHT.
When the hero finally saw the heroine for the first time in front of him and she introduced herself to him. He was so speechless cause she’s the girl that he wants and obsessed so bad for months😍 “I open my mouth to reply, but no sound comes forth. I just stare at her like a doofus, and the longer the silence stretches, the more awkward the situation becomes.”. Even at the beginning of his training at the new college hockey team, he can’t stop asking about the heroine to his teammates like where she is. So in the beginning, all the teammates knows that the hero have a hugh crush on her. And also all of them can see how the hero looks at her ❤️🥺
‼️‼️‼️DUAL POV
‼️‼️‼️The heroine is older than the hero but only like two years though.
‼️‼️‼️NO CHEATING
‼️‼️‼️THIS BOOK DOES NOT HAVE TOXICITY.
‼️‼️‼️NO SEPARATION
‼️‼️‼️SLOW BURN…. But not too long though. And the slow burn is actually very romantic and funny at the same time🥺 and so sweet! Every single time the hero see the heroine and talked to the heroine, he is so happy about it! He smiles too much and like he got this brand new energy. So the slow burn is so romantic cause the hero always make sure to make the bests of it❤️❤️❤️
Slow burn because the heroine at first doesn’t want to date him cause of her past, so the hero arranged them to fake dating. But slowly and surely that changes because both of them liked each other. And the hero is the one who always makes the first move and say the firsts amazing words to her🥺❤️❤️
He chase and pursue her every single day and every single time….
‼️‼️‼️THE HERO IS OVER THE TOP POSSESSIVE PROTECTIVE HOCKEY PLAYER ALPHA MALE.
His personality is very sweet as well actually, well, sweet and soft the heroine only. AND NO HE IS NOT A MANWHOR3. EVEN AT THE BEGINNING WHEN HE GOES TO THE UNIVERSITY AND JOIN THE TEAM, HE NEVER EVER HOOK UP WITH ANYONE THERE. NEVERRR🤩
Well at first when he and the heroine became official or getting closer, many girls likes to flirt with him and twice the hero just kinda say yes when they flirt but never ever touch them though. BUT HE NEVER EVER HOOK UP WITH ANY OF THEM. Also he never ever lets those girls like come any closer to him or put them on his lap, never…
‼️‼️‼️THE HEROINE. She’s actually famous around campus, many people likes her and she’s like a social media star famous sh*t lol. Her personality is good though. She’s friendly, she actually have a great group of girlfriends with her which is surprisingly nice. Cause i thought girls on campus especially some of her best friends are in a sorority, i thought they would be mean and just backstabbing people. But nope. The heroine actually have a great friends with her and those friends even likes to helped around when the heroine needs them the most. The heroine is also not arrogant and super nice to anyone….
She was hurt by her ex who is also a hockey player star in the past but I’m glad that it doesn’t make her down all the time. She have this commitment to herself that she doesn’t want to date another hockey player. But that soon changes when the hero was chasing and pursuing her every single day🥺 And also she likes the hero too at first but because what happened to her, she thought it was a one thing or nothing serious or lasts. The heroine is also sassy 😋 She sometimes can overthink stuff but not too much…
‼️‼️‼️IT HAS PUSHING AWAY FROM THE HEROINE a couple of times but not too much and not annoying…. She also eventually gave in and opened up her heart to him…. “I’ve been in denial land. What we have isn’t fake, Noah. It’s the most real thing I’ve ever felt, and I’m sorry it took me so long to admit it to myself.”. She always melts with the hero especially when he is touching her and saying great words to her lol. The hero never ever push the heroine away…. Never. He loves her too much so he will never ever push her away🥺
‼️‼️‼️NO VIRGINS.
But both are clean
‼️‼️‼️DRAMA WITH OM COUPLE OF TIMES but not too much and not too annoying… Drama with ow but it was before they were even dating and those womens are fans of the hero. But when the hero and heroine started fake dating, those womens go away and never bother him again though. And never even bother the heroine physically. Only hate comments but that happens like only three times and not too much… And those drama with womens is not much either, and definitely not annoying… All the drama is about their friends though, the hero and heroine watching their friends fight each other many times🤣🤣🤣 So I’m glad the drama is mostly from their friends and not each other😁😁😁 Is kinda fun to read how the heroine and hero have to watch their friends bickering and bickering😆😆
The couple have a big family but I’m glad that their family is no drama and so supportive and loving 🤩
Very positive omg🥺
‼️‼️‼️THE HERO IS EXTREMELY OBSESSED AND WANTS THE HEROINE SOOOO VERY BADLY…. Many many times like hundred times he say many great things about the heroine and say those things to the heroine as well that made me omg. Like the hero looks at the heroine like an angel lol. Even when he plays and he knows the heroine is going to be there, he always make sure to look at her row like he needs that so much. LIKE LITERALLY YOU WILL READ ON HOW MANY TIMES THE HERO REALLY PURSUE HER SO BAD AND WILL DO ANYTHING TO HAVE HER… TO SHOW HER THAT HE IS SERIOUS ABOUT HER AND HE WILL NEVER EVER HURT LIKE. LIKE SHE IS IT FOR HIM ❤️❤️❤️❤️ The hero even say yes to the heroine on tutoring her on french language so he can spend with time with her. He knows a little french though🤣
“I look around her bathroom. It’s small, but way better than having to share with an entire floor. It’s also nice to be in a tidy space. Curious and with time to kill, I snoop around. The first thing I do is to check what brand of shampoo and conditioner she uses. I’m that lunatic who will buy the same brand so I can smell her scent whenever she’s not around. Both are a mix of vanilla and coconut. I open the shampoo bottle and take a big whiff of it. Heaven.”
🥺
“When she returns to an upright position, I quickly lower my gaze. Then she drops to the floor, opens her legs wide, and leans forward, pressing her upper body against the mat. Oh my God, I’m going to die. My dick stirs, pressing against my jeans. This is absolute torture. I can’t move, and I don’t dare breathe.” 🤣
“When I realized that she was my dream girl, I learned everything about her, including her birthday. I can’t believe I forgot it was coming up. The days have been a blur and I spaced out. I’d better pretend I had no idea.” 🤣
The point is, is that the hero really proclaimed himself only available to the heroine only when he joins the hockey team and the university. Even when many girls likes to flirt with him he never ever once let them go any further because he only set his eyes for the heroine only… Even when they started fake dating and getting serious, he always so happy with the heroine and make sure she knows that he is serious with her. That he will do anything to prove her that he is serious and she is the DREAM GIRL of his 🥺❤️
‼️‼️‼️Many scenes of the heroine and hero have to hangout and have fun with their friends 😍😍😍 And also their friends some are mean like the guys are mean but not too much and not too annoying! Is always so funny conversations between them. I love that scenes with their friends😍😍😍😍 NO mean guy or MEAN girl friends that tries to jeopardize their relationship so it was nice😍 Many scenes they’re friends are having fun so it was so very nice 🤩🤩🤩
‼️‼️‼️NO EX GIRLFRIEND OR EX FVCK BUDDY EVER SHOWS UP FROM THE HERO. The heroine’s one ex boyfriend did shows up but not too much and not too annoying….
‼️‼️‼️IT HAS TALKING ABOUT THE PAST FROM THE HEROINE BUT ONLY TWICE AND THE HERO NEVER EVER TALKED ABOUT HIS PAST PARTNERS….
‼️‼️‼️GREAT CHEMISTRY! Like oh my goodness…. the chemistry between them is very much romantic and so hot😍😍😍 THEY GO ON DATES, event together and even taking care of a puppy together that they found omg so cute and adorable❤️ see… many positivity here🥺
“It turns out there’s no better medicine for a hangover than making out with the hottest girl on campus—my girl. That kiss not only blew my mind, but it also it ruined me for the rest. Gia is endgame. I know it’s crazy to think like that, but when you know, you know.”
OMG🥺
‼️‼️‼️MANY JEALOUS SCENES FROM THE HERO AND little from the heroine… Even at the beginning the hero went all jealous to the heroine’s ex boyfriend or any guy who tries to get close to her😏😏
“I don’t like hearing her name come from his mouth. Yes, I’m annoyed that these idiots know who she is and probably drool over her.”
“I’m done with this conversation. It never occurred to me that Gia could have her own fan club. Now I’m wondering how many dudes watch her dance videos and fantasize about her like I did.”
‼️‼️‼️VERY HOT SMUT SCENES oh my…. The hero likes to worships and love the heroine’s body 🔥🔥🔥🔥
“The anguish slashing my heart goes away, and pure ecstasy takes over, overwhelming my senses. I capture her face between my hands and crush my lips to hers. I don’t want to taste her; I want to drown in her, and let her feel all my love. Her tongue is sweet and matches my tempo perfectly. We are made for each other, and I’ll spend the rest of my life proving to her that it is so. I pull back so I can make sure I’m not dreaming.”
🥺
‼️‼️‼️THE HERO IS A HOCKEY PLAYER AND THERE DEFINITELY A PUCK BUNNIES but they showed up at the beginning of the book, before the hero and heroine get close or started their fake dating thing. And the rest of it, nope. Not mentioned it ever again…
‼️‼️‼️HAPPY ENDING.
Have a baby together 😍
👉🏽👉🏽👉🏽Thank you so much for reading my review❤️ For you who loves my review and follow it, THANK YOU SO MUCH. I did not get paid or be told to do a review on a book. I’m here just to write review about a book so i can remember it. Its my honest opinion😚 I didn’t know at first people will find me and follow me and trust me to be honest, I was surprised myself to look at the notifications from people who reach out to me😆 So everything i write down here on a review is based on my personal opinion and based on my true writing. I DID NOT COPY SOMEONE’S REVIEW OR WRITING SKILL because at first when i was using this app for one year i didn’t know how to scroll down on a book and see the reviews from others😂😅🤣 I know, silly me but hey I finally learned my lesson 😛😛😛 Thats why when people assume i copy someone’s review i was like what? Because at first i didn’t know how to use this app properly and i didn’t know how to open someone’s review because for a year i never follow someone or add friends or someone😂😂😂🤣 (I’m laughing so hard) 🤪 AND I NEVER COPY SOMEONE’S REVIEW EVER. IF I WRITE SOMETHING WRONG OR DOESN’T MAKE SENSE PLEASE LET ME KNOW AND BE NICE OKAY. 👈🏽👈🏽👈🏽✋🏽✋🏽 IF YOU'RE BEING MEAN AND NEGATIVE ALREADY WITH A WARNING AND NOT BEING WISE TO ME, I WILL NOT ENTIRELY READ YOUR COMMENT AND REMOVE YOU EASILY AND FAST. I DO NOT TOLERATE NEGATIVE COMMENT SO KNOW YOUR PLACE, THANK YOU SO MUCH.
I’m writing my disclaimer again here cause many negative people still don't get it or still be stupid enough not to understand my POV when I already write it so many times before. So here I am writing it again to you beautifuls human being😁😁 WHEN YOU READ MY LONG OR SHORT REVIEW, YOU WOULD KNOW THAT WHAT I LIKE ABOUT A STORY AND CHARACTERS RIGHT... IF YOU DON'T KNOW THEN HERE IT IS: I LIKE A BOOK WITH VERY POSSESSIVE PROTECTIVE ALPHA MALE, NO CHEATING, AND PLEASE NO MANWHOR3, NO MANY PUSHING AWAY, NO DOORMAT HEROINES, NO MANY OW DRAMA, NO S3X SCENE WITH SOMEONE ELSE. AND SAFE ALL THE WAY AND A HAPPY ENDING. Something that I don't like it very much if the hero or heroine have a crazy fvcked up personality and likes. Example: killing someone and let the heroine watch it all and push the heroine to lick all the blood of his victim and made her have to eat the meat of humans. and fvcks many woman in front of the heroine while telling her he loves her. I DON'T LIKE THAT TYPE OF SH*T AT ALL. That's just who I am, that's what I like and I don't like on a book. Maybe you love that, but I don't. We humans are different, we think very differently from one another. You have your likes and I have mine, you have your opinions and I have mine of my own. You think it's stupid of me to love such a book or to not love a book or to hate it whatever lol, I think it's bad you think that way cause I respect people's opinions cause I know for a fact we have our differences. YOU AND ME ARE DIFFERENT FOR PETE'S SAKE. I even have my own friends or people I follow here that shows how much they don't like the book I like, I never even give them a long comment or short Comment. Cause I respect their opinions. I don't like to give people I hard time here cause life itself is already hard enough. I do respect your opinion if you say my review is bad or whatever negative things about it, but in the end of the day I will not changed my mind about what book I dislike and how my thoughts about it. You can't tell me what to do. You can give me advice but it's me who decided to know what's right for me, this is my life and not yours. Read that again. Don’t assume things about me that is not even real, just don’t. cause when you do you’re more small minded for sure. You're thinking why I'm telling you all of this when you already know? Is because you still hating on my opinions and don't understand my POV and don't respect my POV. You think i like writing this disclaimer when obviously you're an adult already? no i personally think this is unnecessary... but because there are people out there who still don't get it *rolling my eyes*. Hopefully they or the people who read this disclaimer can use a beautiful thing called a brain:) AND WHEN YOU READ MY REVIEW, READ IT VERY CLEARLY TO SEE IF I FINISHED THE BOOK OR NOT. KNOW THE DIFFERENCE. AND YES ENGLISH IS NOT MY FIRST LANGUAGE. BUT IF YOU UNDERSTAND WHAT I'M WRITING, THEN IT MEANS YOU UNDERSTAND IT ENOUGH. I DO NOT TOLERATE BULLYING, NEGATIVE COMMENTS AND MEAN WORDS. PLEASE USE A WISE WORDS SO WE DON'T ATTACK EACH OTHER. SIMPLY, I DON’T LIKE TO HAVE AN ARGUMENT WITH STRANGERS LIKE YOU CAUSE I HAVE BETTER THINGS TO DO😚 BUT IF YOU STILL WANT TO BE AMBER HEARD KARENS THAT DON'T UNDERSTAND MY DISCLAIMER AFTER I JUST WRITE IT DOWN, THEN GO ENJOY YOUR DAY AND GO AWAY. IT'S VERY EASY FOR A HUMAN COULD DO YA KNOW. IF YOU STILL HERE HATING ME OR ANNOYED WITH ME, THAT'S YOUR PROBLEM. NOT ME PROBLEM. HASHTAGS BURN😂😂 DON'T TAKE THINGS TOO PERSONALLY ON ONLINE CAUSE WE ALL A STRANGERS, WE NEVER EVER MEET. WE'RE ADULTS HERE SO LETS BE WISER. LAST, I BLOCK NEGATIVE PEOPLE! SO GET WELL SOON TO THE HATERS. HOPEFULLY YOUR HEART AND MIND WILL BE MORE POSITIVE 🙏🙏🙏 AND THIS DISCLAIMER MAY SEEMS LIKE TOO HARSH ON YOU BUT HEY I DON'T LIKE TO SUGAR COATED THINGS. I LIKE TO SAY TO THE POINT WITH MY UNDERSTANDING AND MY OWN THOUGHTS, CAUSE THAT'S HOW HUMANS ARE. WE ARE DIFFERENT REMEMBER👍 HAVE A GREAT DAY EVERYONE!!
i’m sorry that i’m saying it but this has been definitely the worst book i’ve read this year so far
it was so bad that hurt my eyes.
list of things that i don’t understand and i hate. (this gonna contain a LOT of spoilers)
1. the guys trying to get advantage of gia, it’s just mentioned once and boom, is never mentioned again. Why put the attempt of sexual abuse if it is not going to contribute anything in the development of the character and not gonna be talk about it? 2. call me ignorant, but i still don’t know the reason why ryder broke up with gia (and i’m not reading a second book to find out). Maybe it was said and i didn’t pay attention. 3. lack of plot, there was a point that all what they did was having sex. 4. poor writing skills + cringy, just adding information that contributes nothing to the book 5. mentioning TikTok 6. “pretty please?” okay u jeremiah fisher 7. noah being a weird “stalker”, yeah okay, we're all a little stalker, but the fact that the guy smelled the shampoo from her shower like the first week of meeting??? it’s kinda weird 8. “my big cock filling you, ” that was supposed to be dirty talk, and lemme tell you nobody that i’ve read in good smutty books, says that about their dick 9. unnecessary chapters, meaning: there was a moment that five chapters were a whole night 10. a book that never ends because of all the unnecessary things that are said 11. yeah i like emotional characters but… girl… she still felt guilty for something that happened six months ago... and it wasn’t even her fault. and crying over abandoned puppies… i mean yeah it’s kinda sad… but like, people abandon animals every day and it’s cruel i know… but girl don’t be crying over alive puppies 12. everything going so fast: the fact that it hadn't even been two months when he told her “i love you” or a less than a week knowing her when he asked her to be his fake gf 13. frequent use of nicknames that hurt my eyes so bad, “babe” and “sunshine”, there was a point it was repeated in every dialogue that i was going to stop because of it 14. PREGNANCY TROPE, bitch what? that was so unexpected, she just reminded me why i don’t like the trope
and yeah it was cringe asf but that got me reading too, i’ve laughed at most of the scenes and some characters are great and i’ve loved them, the problem was everything going so fast that nothing made sense.
Also, it was very noticeable the fact that the author really wanted to write about a hockey romance so much that everything seemed forced. It's true, hockey romances have attracted a lot of attention this year but not everyone is made to write them.
pd. i don’t expect you to agree with me about all of these things, just saying my thoughts
This entire review has been hidden because of spoilers.
What a spectacular start to a new college sports series! 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
The ingredients to this book were at times random, but somehow EVERYTHING worked for me 😂 I couldn't sleep with this one, always wanting one more chapter under my belt 🤣
The hero sees the heroine during his college visit and instantly falls in love. 6 months later, he's a freshman at that university and she's a sophomore there, plus working as social media manager for his hockey team.
Noah (H) is driven, goal oriented and is willing to do anything to get his girl, but at the same time he's a pure hearted cinnamon roll, who you can't help but fall in love with. He would be so wholesome at all times, except when it came to their bedroom times😂 he'd turn into a panty melting smut god in no time!
I loved the heroine, Gia! She was hesitant to enter into a (fake😜) relationship with Noah, because she was burnt in the past, but she managed to open her heart to him and never regretted it!
I LOVED THE COMMUNICATION BETWEEN THE COUPLE! There was a particular scene, filled with OM drama (an unwanted kiss), that i was DEAD CERTAIN would turn into a misunderstanding and a fight between the main couple, but the heroine acted like a real human being and warned the hero before it got out of hand 😍😍😍😍😍🎉🎉🎉🎉👑👑👑👑
The whole friend group and the hockey teammates are all very well-written and bring so much colors to the story. Can't wait to read their books 😭💓
The douchebag being called Martin, which is the name of my cat, sent me for a loop, but what an asshole was that character!
The story features 7 ADORABLE dalmatian puppies and the whole friend group will each adopt one. The cuteness overload was remarkable with that one 😍😍😍😍😍😱😱😱😱❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
SPOILER ALERT AND AN IMPORTANT NOTE 🛑🛑🛑🛑🛑🛑🛑 . . . . . At around 90% the heroine finds herself pregnant with the hero's baby due to vomiting her birthcontrol pill. They have the baby, which I found kind of adorable and fitting for the story, despite them being still in college and so young. But nevertheless I'll put it out there, because for a lot of people this might be a turn off. But the couple was established before that so the baby was NOT a deciding factor in them being together.
Loved the hero, Noah. Loved the book. Loved everything. Will try to write a better review later. But Noah is the perfect book boyfriend and even tho he is 19, he never seemed immature to me. Gah, just swoon!
ETA:
Noah is absolutely the best book boyfriend. I love him so much! Even tho he was only 19 he seemed older. I love that he fell first and just never gave up on Gia. She was his everything from the moment he saw her. I did like Gia too. Loved the pregnancy, the protective hero, the spiciness and the dirty talk.
Super loved this one! Noah was so swoon-worthy with what he said to Gia and how he was with her. Just loved it!
Favorite quote:
💖 "...I would have found a way to steal your heart. I've always known you were my forever girl.
This was my first by Michelle Hercules and I cannot wait to see how this series progresses. This was such a fun, light read.
Noah is the new hotshot hockey player of Hannaford U. Gia is an influencer that does social media posts for the team. When a live interview gets the campus in a competition to find Noah his dream girl, the only solution is to fake date each other. But Gia was Noah's dream girl along.
I love the he falls first trope and this book did it well. Noah was so swoon-worthy and adorable. He is a total cinnamon roll and will literally do anything for Gia, even pretend he knows French. I loved how Noah and Gia's relationship developed naturally, as she got to know him more. Also loved how they worked together through some of the drama. There was some twists at the end that I def did not see coming.
This was super sweet!! Noah is a AMAZING hero who sees the h and she is it for him! He is just starting his freshman year in college playing hockey. Gia is maybe 2 years ahead and she is working the media for the hockey team. She was in a recent breakup with another hockey player and does NOT want to go down that road again. I loved that there was absolutely no OW drama🙌🏻yes there were girls throwing themselves at him but he didn’t care for it or want anything to do with them!! Some OM drama, her ex is playing for another team now but he still comes around and you can tell has feelings still. She does not! Another guy who she makes dance videos with is always wanting to be with her and causes some issues later but again, she does not want hm at all! Noah is so great throughout this book🥰 No matter what happens he is there for Gia
I skated through Play It Dirty! Noah Kingsley is the new star of the Hannaford U hockey team, but after an interview with the team’s social media manager Gia has every girl trying to be his dream girl, they can only think of one solution: they fake date, only Noah isn’t looking for pretend—Gia is his dream girl. I love a guy falls first, especially when it’s a hockey romance. This book was sexy and fun. I loved the campus dynamics and all of the very genuine friendships and love in this. Noah is a sweetheart—he’s enamored with Gia right away and I loved the cockiness he has mixed with his overall hopefulness when it comes to winning her over. It’s a perfect level of alpha, but he’s definitely a cinnamon roll hero. And Gia is so intriguing, she’s been hurt and is healing and I love how Noah lifted her. Plus their chemistry was off the charts. It’s steamy, it’s angsty, it’s dramatic and just an addicting read from start to finish!
On paper this book should’ve been a hit for me. All my favorite tropes: fake dating, hockey, golden retriever MMC, teammates like family, but something just wasn’t clicking. Nothing grabbed me in this book. The author wasn’t bad, the characters were ok, storyline was boring.
The book is fine but I-wasn’t-interested-in-finishing-fine.
Rating: 🏒🏒🥅 (2.5⭐️) Heat: none in 32% Least favorite trope warning: Surprise pregnancy (towards end of book, not epilogue) <—-dear author this was an unnecessary addition that added nothing to the story expect saddling 20 year olds (not even 21) with a baby while in college
I love hockey romance so when I saw this cover/blurb I knew I had to read it! Sadly, it didn't work for me. I loved Noah, he was so sweet and determined for Gia. I loved all the tropes! But, I just couldn't get into the book. I finished it but struggled throughout.
This was my first Michelle Hercules book, so I wasn’t sure what to expect. It is the first in the Players of Hannaford U series, but it can be read as a standalone.
When Noah Kingsley first sees Gia Mancini, she instantly grabs his attention. He doesn’t talk to her though because she’s in the middle of an argument with her boyfriend during which he breaks up with her. That was before the school year started and Noah was watching a hockey game for the team he was going to be playing for as an incoming freshman.
Gia is part of the social media team for the Hannaford U hockey team. When the semester starts, Gia has to work closely with the hockey team to keep up their social media presence, so she has to record videos of them and do some “Live” recordings with them.
Noah sees his chance to talk to Gia, so he flirts with her. During one of her live interviews, she asks him a question that ends up leading to girls all trying to win Noah’s heart, and they really do some absurd sh*t to gain his attention. To get them to back off, his teammates tell him he should get a girlfriend, so he guilt-trips Gia into fake dating him since it’s “her fault” that the girls are all acting crazy trying to win his heart.
They do end up fake dating, but it didn’t ever seem fake. Gia is guarding her heart, but not because her ex hurt her. But Noah is so damn sweet, and he lets Gia know how he feels even though she may not feel the same way. He doesn’t give up and eventually, Gia realizes how she feels.
Noah was a ray of sunshine and a total cinnamon roll the whole way through. He was just so sweet and adorable. He also didn’t get jealous over the guys that were interested in Gia because he knew they didn’t matter. Oh, and when they found a box of puppies, he instantly fell in love and wanted to take care of them and keep them. Now, that was a little random, and how he could keep a puppy when he lived in a dorm that doesn’t allow animals and he had an intense hockey schedule is a question to me, but I still thought it was cute.
This was a cute fake dating, college sports romance. There was a touch of suspense as Gia had a stalker that was calling and leaving threatening messages. Honestly, I wasn’t all that surprised when the stalker was revealed. But it was her ex, Ryder, who helped save her, and he broke up with her in the first place to keep her safe. I’m actually really curious about Ryder because nothing about his reasons for breaking up with her and leaving the hockey team was revealed.
Oh, and I also liked Noah’s teammates because they had great banter. There was definitely a lot of tension between one of his teammates and one of Gia’s friends, so I can’t wait to read their story.
I have a new hockey book boyfriend that I’m here to introduce to y’all! Meet 𝐍𝐨𝐚𝐡 𝐊𝐢𝐧𝐠𝐬𝐥𝐞𝐲, the newest hockey member on the Hannaford U Hockey Team. He’s the “I know who I want and nothing will get in my way” type. He’s also 𝐬𝐰𝐨𝐨𝐧𝐲, 𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐲 𝐦𝐮𝐜𝐡 𝐠𝐨𝐥𝐝𝐞𝐧 𝐫𝐞𝐭𝐫𝐢𝐞𝐯𝐞𝐫/ 𝐜𝐢𝐧𝐧𝐚𝐦𝐨𝐧 𝐫𝐨𝐥𝐥 𝐯𝐢𝐛𝐞𝐬, and a tad bit 𝐨𝐛𝐬𝐞𝐬𝐬𝐢𝐯𝐞. Just a tad 😂.
When he first meets the FMC, 𝐆𝐢𝐚 𝐌𝐚𝐧𝐜𝐢𝐧𝐢, he’s immediately stunned by how gorgeous she is. Lucky for him, she’s the social media rep for his hockey team. As he tries his best to charm his way in, he gets friend-zoned. But of course that won’t stop him; he knew he had to try everything to work his way in, so when the opportunity for a fake relationship presents itself, he immediately takes it.
Let me tell y’all, I ate this up! We are given 𝐛𝐨𝐲 𝐟𝐚𝐥𝐥𝐬 𝐟𝐢𝐫𝐬𝐭, 𝐟𝐚𝐤𝐞 𝐝𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐠, 𝐭𝐮𝐭𝐨𝐫/𝐬𝐭𝐮𝐝𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐫𝐞𝐥𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐬𝐡𝐢𝐩, and we even some 𝐩𝐫𝐚𝐢𝐬𝐞! He’s a 𝐝𝐢𝐫𝐭𝐲 𝐭𝐚𝐥𝐤𝐞𝐫, and I was here for it! Since this is the first book in the series, we are introduced to many of the side characters, and I honestly can’t wait to find out who will be getting a book!
After watching TikTok’s of this book I was set on finding this book and been looking everywhere for it. When I saw it was on KU I was super happy. I needed a wholesome book after reading Haunting Adeline so naturally I jumped into reading. I had really big expectations when I started and I’m going to be honest I was a little let down after reading 100 pages. It was cute but there was something about how it was written that was throwing me off. I felt like it went too fast and there was no depth to the book.
Noah~ Okay this man is such a sweetheart, I absolutely loved him. He’s definitely a golden retriever boyfriend. He’s super mature and knows exactly what to say so when Gia mentioned that he was 19 I was surprised. He seems older and it threw me off every time someone mentioned that he was younger than everyone. The only thing that I hated was when he would call Gia “kitten”. (I don’t know why but it was a big ick for me)
Gia~ She seems like the sweetest person ever so the fact that people were bullying her annoyed the hell outta me. The author never mentioned her age or grade so I was struggling to fully picture the age difference between her and Noah. I also don’t know why Ryder’s (her ex) betrayal to the team hurt her more than their breakup. I get that she said she was starting to fall out of love with him and didn’t see her relationship going anywhere but like they were together for a year.
3.75 It was good but I feel like it was really long and dragged out and kinda rushed at the end it took me a while to read bc it was on my phone and at some points I wasn’t too into it but I loved the characters. If it would’ve been a little bit shorter I would’ve enjoyed it a lot more I also didn’t like how they made her pregnant at the end I felt it was kinda unnecessary especially since they’re in college and Noah’s only 19 if it was a series I could see that happening but not in the first book especially since it took Gia so long to realize he was in love with him. I wish we got to see more about Ryder especially when they were talking about her stalker bc he said a lot of info but was like no it’s a secret like no tell me🙄🙄

Noah is the new hotshot hockey player of Hannaford U. And when a live interview with their social media manager, Gia Mancini, gets the campus in a competition to find Noah his dream girl, the only solution is to fake date each other. Barely did Gia know that she was indeed Noah’s dream girl all along!
I love a guy falls first book, and Noah is the perfect boyfriend! Caring, attentive, swoony - a dream come true. It took all my self control not to call off work just to keep reading!
I absolutely loved Noah and Gia’s interactions, their banter and their love story! And honestly, I can’t wait to read more about their friends too. (Michelle, I really hope you ARE writing more about their friends 👀)
I really enjoyed this read! Noah was such a great book-boyfriend and often had me kicking my feet in joy. Gia was a great character too, though honestly a tad bit flat - but Noah made up for it! My favorite take-away from this book, was that opportunities for the mis-communication trope (my least favorite type of trope) were introduced, but there was NO miscommunication. They talked!! I can't remember ever reading a contemporary romance where the author sets up the scenario where the mis-communication would normally happen, but then instead she had them communicate about it. I loved that! Gia was a great communicator and they both gave each-other benefit of the doubt which had me swooning. I get that without this added drama, the pacing of books may feel slow - but this pacing didn't! There were other things to pay attention to, so I'm thrilled the author chose to avoid miscommunication as an added drama. There is a trope in this book that I know a lot of people don't like, so I'm going to put a spoiler warning here >>> that you can chose to read or not. It's not like it spoils a huge part of the story - but for those that like the surprise maybe don't read the spoiler. I will say that trope is a very very small part of the story at the very end - so it's not really part of the overall story. My ONLY criticism of the book, is that I still don't know why Ryder and Gia broke up. Why did he quit hockey? I'm not sure if I missed something - but this kept getting mentioned and I was in the dark. Maybe there is another connected series? Or maybe I missed it in the book - but if not, it would have been nice to just know that stuff (otherwise what was the point of having Ryder in the book at all?) If you love hockey romance, golden-retriever book boyfriends, and fun banter - I definetley recommend checking this out! Happy reading!
"I don't want any girl. I want you. I'll just have to work harder to prove to you that I am real boyfriend material."
⭐️ 5/5 🌶️ 5/5 Book #1 of Players of Hannaford USeries **Reread**
I first read this book last year and feel in love with Gia and Noah story. I know I would want to reread this book again when I get into a reaching slump because it’s such a fun book with amazing side characters that just add to the story.
Play It Dirty is about rookie Noah Kingsley and Gia Mancini. Gia has just broken up with a fellow hockey player who recently quit the team at Hannaford U. She's sworn off hockey players and focuses on her part-time job as the social media coordinator for the hockey team. Something happens during a hockey game and she needs to put a stop to whoever is behind it. That's where Noah steps in to help. Noah fell over heels for Gia from the moment he laid eyes on her and had no problem with suggesting they fake date to save her job.
Let be honest Noah is the ultimate golden retriever boyfriend and Gia really didn’t have a chance with not falling in love with Noah. Gia was hesitant at first to enter into a fake relationship with Noah, but she managed to open her heart to him and never regretted it.
This was a slow burn but in the best way, it was actually very romantic and funny at the same time and Noah embarrassed himself multiple times that made the slow burn even better. Every single time he way Gia it’s like the world stopped and he didn’t know how to form a complete sentence.
I’m definitely going to have to reread the 2nd book in this series “Play it Hard” which is able Alex and Blair✨✨
I LOVED this book!!! It was so much fun and sweet and adorable and just amazing!!! I love the hockey team/friend group vibes, it reminded me of the closeness of the team from The Deal by Elle Kennedy!
I loved Noah! He was the sweetest MMC! He was so in love with Gia and he would do whatever it takes to get her to agree to be with him forever.
I loved the suspense aspect, it added a little something to the book that made you curious and intrigued. Plus I always love a protective man. And OMG the spice was just amazing! I loved it and we got a good amount of it too!
I’m really glad I read this book and I’m excited to read rhetorical entire series when they all come out!
The spice and the banter in this book was top tier in my opinion. I'm a sucker for the "she's mine" vibes. This is my first book by Michelle Hercules and I enjoyed every second of it. I read it in a little over 24 hours. I didn't wanna put it down. The chemistry between Gia and Noah had me in all the feels! And I laughed so much during this book. I liked the shout out to one of the NHL booktok hotties 😆 iykyk haha This book is in my top 5 reads for the year and I won't take any criticism on it 😀 🥰
This was a wild ass ride. I was loving every second of this for the first 60% and then it took a dramatic turn that didn’t need to happen. I didn’t mind the insta-lovey vibe but the end was wild and unexpected but not in a good way. I’m still giving it 4 stars, probably closer to a 3.5 but I’ll be generous because I very much enjoyed the first half.
Well it was your average fake dating, new adult/college hockey romance between a freshman rookie player and the social media manager who is 21. Then we get to the 90% mark and there was an accidental pregnancy followed by a stalker situation. Just gave me the ick. No thank you.
