For a tough as nails Dom hunting a sadistic serial killer is nothing compared to losing his heart. Rome Carino is hunting a predator. One who likes to hurt submissives and the most popular BDSM club’s patrons are being targeted. With each fresh kill, he gets more brazen. Rome knows he just needs one little break, but before he can make headway, the FBI shows up. Worse, the uptight, buttoned-down Special Agent Maria Callahan suggests a plan that is dangerous, but worth it because it might just catch the killer. If Rome can keep his mind on the case and off the beautiful FBI agent, he'll be just fine. Maria is still trying to step out of her legendary father's shadow and knows just how to do it. Luring the killer by posing as Rome's new sub seems like a good idea. That is, until undercover becomes real life and she finds herself tangled up with a man who amazes and scares her at the same time. Her growing attraction to the Honolulu Police Detective is a little too much to handle. Even knowing that, she can't help falling in love with the tough Dom and losing herself in the games they play in the bedroom. Rome is overwhelmed by his need for Maria. He has never had a sub respond to him the way she does and no matter what he does, he feels himself slipping off that cliff into love. As their relationship starts to unfold, he realizes that he will do anything to win her heart, to convince her to become his sub for a lifetime. But before he can do anything, the killer turns his attention on Rome and the one thing he holds dear: Maria.
WARNING: The following book contains: A Dom who thinks he can do no wrong, a new sub who is about to teach him he can, palm trees, a trip or two to Rough ‘n Ready, a flirty Aussie Dom with questionable motives, old friends, and a new enemy. Yeah, it might be called Harmless, but you Addicts know it’s anything but.
"A man who is master of himself can end a sorrow as easily as he can invent a pleasure. I don’t want to be at the mercy of my emotions. I want to use them, to enjoy them, and to dominate them.” - by Oscar Wilde -
3.5 stars. While I really liked the very, very yummy hero, the plot was just too weak to give a 4-star rating.
A Little Harmless Submission is book 6 in Melissa Schroeder’s Harmless series.
There’s big trouble in Honolulu. A serial killer is on the loose. The media calls him The Dom killer because the murdered women are linked to the BDSM club Rough 'n Ready.
Detective Rome Carino (his friends are calling him Romeo when they want to annoy him) and FBI Special Agent Maria Callahan are put together to catch the villain. Carino is a well known and respected Dom at the BDSM club Rough 'n Ready. Maria knows about his 'preferences' and comes up with a mighty bold idea, even though the good detective makes her nervous as hell. She wants to be bait by 'posing' as Rome's sub and 'throws' herself into the BDSM scene. She has extensively researched this lifestyle but has never participated. While the bodies are piling up, the killer turns his attention on Rome and the one thing he holds dear: Maria.
[...]There was no doubt about it. The man was a god. She knew for a fact there wasn’t a heterosexual woman alive who would argue with her. He was tall, so tall, that she had to look up at him. Since she was five foot eleven in her stocking feet, that didn’t happen that often. He wasn’t just tall, but he also had those movie star looks. A strong jaw, swarthy skin, and long, long eye lashes were enough to attract just about any woman. Add in the hazel eyes that seemed greener now that he was in the natural sunlight and he was near perfection.[...]Full sensual lips completed the package, and she had to fight the urge to lick her own.[...]
While the plot totally lacked in the suspense department – at least for my liking - I did enjoy reading about Rome and Maria’s 'relationship'. I wanted to read Rome’s story since he’s been introduced in a previous Harmless book.
Rome gets quite tangled up with Maria. He doesn’t do relationships. And for the first time in years, he feels a deep need to possess – not just dominate. This goes beyond that. And it scares him. He’s falling for Maria and he’s falling hard. And it isn’t just her looks. She is perfect for him in that department, but there’s something more, and it makes him want to risk loving again.
Rome and Maria had good chemistry and they were heating up the sheets and then some! Maria seems to be a bit uptight and can’t imagine that a man like Rome could be interested in her. Boy, was she ever wrong! Maria is tough and aloof and she likes to call the shots. That’s why Rome said the following:
[...]”If you’re going to play the submissive, you’re going to have to be a little better at taking orders.”[...]
What I love about Rome is that he is focused on Maria’s needs. He likes to pleasure her and he is really attentive and caring. And he is careful and doesn’t push her boundaries too far. A Little Harmless Submission is rather harmless when it comes to BDSM. Okay, the spanking made me cringe (as usual) but this story was not hard-core BDSM, not by any means!
I didn’t like this overt possessiveness and jealousy. Actually, what’s this all about when the guys are claiming "I want to beat the hell out of him"??? Men don’t cease to 'amaze' me. Don’t think with your d*ck, better yet activate your brain, Romeo! That was over the top, at times.
I didn’t appreciate the fact that the bodies were piling up in the background, and I couldn’t read how this happened. Too much telling not enough showing...And don’t expect police procedures, either. I have to accept the fact that Melissa Schroeder isn’t a suspense storyteller. She’s got more strengths in other departments - if you know what I mean. *waggles eyebrows* Furthermore, I think that the book needed better editing.
The sex scenes were well written and steamy. Actually, I wouldn’t expect anything less by this author. I liked to read about the banter between Rome, Evan, and Micah. It felt like coming home to old friends. Again.
A Little Harmless Submission is an entertaining and enjoyable read. I must admit that I did enjoy it because of Rome(o). You are one yummylicious guy, that’s for sure!
Please keep in mind: this book contains graphic sex (oral/anal play), sex toys, spanking, bondage, and a blindfold.
My Review: Whoa! I LOVED this book. I will take one Rome....delivered to my house with restraints in hand. Talk about an amazing alpha hero...Melissa wrote a really good one here!!! And he has met his match with FBI agent, Maria, who is pretty much an alpha herself in her everyday life, but when this Dom gets her in the bedroom, well, then she is the perfect sub. Theirs is a great romance and I loved that I got to read it!
But it is not only a romance, it's also a great suspense novel. The reason that Maria and Rome are even together at all is because they are working a serial killer case...Rome through the Hawaii Police Dept. and Maria through the FBI. This serial killer is killing subs so Maria has put herself out there as bait...something that does NOT sit well with this strong alpha hero at all. He knows that she is a good, capable agent, but he is starting to care for her and to put her in the line of fire goes against EVERYTHING that he is, because first and foremost, he is a protector.
Maria is a complex character. She has a lot of different aspects that Melissa created brilliantly. From the time that her mother died at the age of 12, Maria travelled with her FBI father, who was famous for catching serial killers. She went with him to investigate and even crime scenes at a very young age. Although it's never talked about directly in this book, it is hinted at and there has to be lingering mental issues from dealing with those types of things at such a young age. Now she is an FBI agent herself and she's good at it, although she is feeling like maybe that isn't enough (maybe issues with the fact that she went on scenes at such a young age here too.) She has also started writing romance novels on the side (LOVE that about her!!!)
Then there is Rome. *sigh* He is just dreamy. Obviously, he is a Dom, but he's so much more. He's a police detective, caring, sensual, and sexy. He has never really seen himself for a commitment type of guy, but he falls hard for Maria. He is also good friends with Evan & Micah. I love the scenes with those guys. Melissa writes awesome bro-mance!! I really love the group of friends that make up the hearts of this series and we get a good dose of that in this book too.
I love the entire ALH series, but this one is definitely one of my favorites. You absolutely do not have to read the prior books to enjoy this one, but I highly recommend them. It's a great series: 1. ALH Sex- A 2. ALH Pleasure- B+ 3. ALH Obsession- A 4. ALH Lie- A 5. ALH Addiction- B 6. ALH Submission- A-
A Little Harmless Submission is book six of the ALH series and is as great as all the others Maria Callahan is an FBI agent who looks like she has everything going for her, at least that is what she projects to the outside world. She is trying to prove to all that she can live up to her famous father, a man who raised her as they traipsed all over the country solving various crimes for the FBI. Maria has been called to Hawaii to help solve a murder mystery since she has been investigating other similar murders they believe "The Dom" is responsible for - a serial killer who targets BDSM clubs and women that frequent them. Rome Carino is cop working in Hawaii who belongs to the most popular BDSM club on the island and who just happens to be a Dom himself. When Maria and Rome meet there is instant chemistry however each are not sure if this is a good thing or not, Maria is just here for the case and Rome only wants someone who lives "the lifestyle". As they discuss ways to investigate, Maria comes up with a plan to bait the killer by posing as a couple at the Rough n’ Ready BDSM club. Everyone believes this may work however Rome becomes uncharacteristically furious at the plan as his protective side comes out with Maria and he does not want her hurt. The mystery keeps you going until the end along with the blossoming relationship that both Rome and Maria fight. They clearly enjoy each and secretly do not want this to end although they will not admit it, even to themselves. The story gets hot and steamy as they take their relationship to the next level. Although they are pretending to live the lifestyle at the club, it has crossed over into their personal life and Maria decides that maybe she likes this lifestyle after all. As with the others books we get to visit many of the regulars at the Rough n’ Ready club, the owners and their soon to be wives that we met in previous books. I love seeing how their stories are evolving. A Little Harmless Submission is a great story with characters that are both strong and intelligent and grow together as they face the dangers associated with their jobs.
This was good. I started suspecting the villain near the beginning, but there were some twists at the end that I didn't expect. The theme of the man-who-will-never-settle-down is common in erotica, but it's always sweet to see them fall. Such was the case with Rome. I sort of question his Dom nature, though, because he let Maria speak to him in the club in a way that has not been presented for a sub before, at least in terms of how she talked to him. I guess she wasn't truly a sub, but she submitted to him, and considering he was this well-known Dom, you'd think that would mean they'd have to really play the part. But he was so tangled up inside about her, he seems to have lost all self-control. Maybe that was why she got away with so much.
But it was still a sweet story. I wonder, since Malachi Dupree was in this one, if the next story will be about him. Whoever it's about, I'll read it. This series is entertaining.
I am now officially a fan of Melissa Schroeder. This is my first book by her and I am sold. Hook, line, and sinker she got me. First off, from the first chapter I was sold. She developed great character personality right off the gate. I wasn’t irritated; I was swept in and ready to follow along with Rome and Maria’s story. I knew that this book was BDSM related; I had bought the first book in this series and hadn’t read it yet. Well, now I regret that in a huge way. I want the other stories. I want to know how they all met and how it all comes together in this current installment in the Harmless Series.
What a totally fantastic story. As hot as the BDSM sex was I was totally consumed with the internal story. The intrigue with hunting a serial killer, I’m a huge fan of shows like Law and Order SVU and this reminded me so much of a really good episode of that show (If Chris Meloni would get down and dirty with a flogger I would be a happy camper for life). A lot of times with crime novels you get an over kill of the detail, there is so much attention to detail that you get no time to really sort out if the killer is someone close and often times you get bored. In this I wasn’t bored at all, if I had to put the book down I was thinking about it, reasoning it out, and trying to find out my own answers.
Inside that incredible plot was a love story. And what a great love story it was. Can I just say that I love when a book makes me want the couple to be together from the first moment they meet? Sometimes I find myself going “Eh, this might not work out.” But not even knowing any background from the series at all, I loved each and every character that was passed through in the book. I wanted more, and I enjoyed every part of it. Nothing was left open and untold, the romance was perfect, the sex was hot (mainly because it included bondage), and the couple clicked for me. I was left wanting more and soaking up all the free excerpts that were dropped into the ending of this story.
This book has left me with a warm feeling in my belly for Melissa Schroeder. I will be reading a lot more of her stuff in the future.
I received this ARC for review from the author.
Favorite Quotes
He studied her for a moment, no expression on his face. Then, he placed his hand on the wall next to her head and leaned closer, as he did in the elevator. Gawd, he smelled good. Earthy and sensual, and all wrapped up in a dominant package of a man.
She needed to attract the killer, and she needed their help. She'd have to trust them and Rome to get this bastard. And, if it meat decking herself out like a sex toy waiting to be played with, she would do it.
The simple answer made him smile. It had come out just like a perfect little sub should answer her Dom. A possessiveness he didn't expect slapped him in the face, and he had to fight the urge to claim her. It wacked him upside the head like the club he should be carrying. It was primitive, Neanderthal almost.
"You will let me know the pleasure I give you, but you do not allow yourself that pleasure. It's mine to own and mine to offer."
"You didn't have to do that. Shouldn't have without permission." She gave him a cocky smile. "I'm sure you can figure out some punishment for me." He laughed, feeling lighter and definitely in a better mood. "After dinner."
This is the sixth installment in Ms. Schroeder's Harmless series and is a great addition to an already well-written series of books. The mix between eroticism and mystery is nicely balanced in this story with plenty of suspects to keep you on the edge of your seat and guessing until the end.
Rome Carino is a great hero with just a bit of baggage. The killings going on around him are related to the BDSM club he inhabits and some of the women being targeted have a history with him. This leads to a lot of guilt on his part and frustration. He's desperate to find the killer. When the opportunity to go undercover with tough as nails FBI agent Maria Callahan comes up he's at first leery because of a bad experience in the past with a corrupt partner of his. Once they start working together portraying a BDSM couple the initial sparks between them really start intensifying. Once Maria gets in harm's way Rome is finally forced into admitting the truth about his feelings for her and uses his Dom personality to get her to admit her true feelings too.
Maria has her own baggage living up to her father's reputation as a famous profiler. She's been forced into the world of serial killers since she was a child being taken to crime scenes by a father who found this a good way to bond. It's not the life she wants though and she eventually finds the strength to admit that with the support of Rome. She's a tough woman in the male-dominated world of the FBI but is more than willing to let Rome dominate her in bed. They bring out things in each other, show a different side that they normally keep hidden and this made them a great match.
The mystery surrounding the killer is actually a good one with some believable red herrings thrown in to keep the reader guessing. The pace of the mystery blends well alongside the romance with an ending of whodunit wrapped up nicely. The sexual interludes are well paced and intense. There's a lot of chemistry between Rome and Maria from the very beginning which makes their sexual interludes believably erotic and loving. Considering it's in the world of BDSM though I found the sexual interludes a bit light when it comes to dom/sub play. So those leery of strong BDSM elements will find this just right.
There's plenty of intriguing secondary characters showing up from previous books with a new one or two that has me longing to see more of them. This book can be read on its own but you'll definitely want to catch up on the series after discovering how entertaining this installment is. Add in a very likable main couple and you have a book that I was immersed in from page one until the very end. For those who like a good whodunit with a nice bit of spice look no further than A Little Harmless Submission.
I am a newbie to Ms. Schroeders work for the most part. I have read a couple of her shorts and was quite impressed. Getting my hands on her latest offering, I was quick to set aside the massive pile beside my bed and dive in. I was very glad I did and am now in the process of ordering the rest of the series. FBI agent Maria Callaghan has some pretty big shoes to fill. Her father was a legend in the bureau and a respected man in almost every law enforcement agency. Many thought she was riding on his coattails even after his death and wanted nothing more than to set her back a few notches. Getting a chance on a high profile serial killer case was just what she needed to step out of the shadows and prove herself. Getting approval to go to Hawaii to follow the killers path was OK'd by her superiors but going in under cover to a BDSM club was not the plan. Getting involved with the HPD officer working the case was not the plan either but submitting to his desires and the ones he awakened in her might lead them closer to the killer than they ever imagined. Rome Carino had not let a woman get close to him in years. The BDSM club and the owners he considered friends and family were the only ones that he had allowed himself to connect with since being burned and leaving the mainland behind. When agent Maria Callaghan walked onto his case he couldn't deny the instant attraction and desire that she stirred up within him. Her revelation that she planned on going in undercover was more of a shock but the biggest one of all was his determination that the only covers she would be sliding under would be his own. The dominant in him wanted only one thing from the sexy agent..... total submission. With a serial killer picking up his victims from the BDSM club that he played his games at, Rome realized that Maria might have the right idea for flushing him out. They must play a role if they hope to stop him. A role that has them pushing boundaries between them that they never imagined before. Their connection blazing immediately hotter than they expected, Rome and Maria are put to the test when their case becomes more intimate and the killer makes his next victim a personal challenge.
Sexy, smart, sinful, exciting, delicious and suspenseful. I can honestly say that I was captivated and wrapped up in this mystery from the first page until the last. Maria and Rome were perfect together. Their chemistry immediate and intense, it made this story even harder to step away from. I wanted more. Their sexy interludes were not over the top.... especially with the fact that this was a BDSM book. I found it a softer intimacy which I really enjoyed. I plan on taking the time to dive in to the back books in this series and suggest that you do too.
Rome Carino is a Honolulu homicide detective working a serial killer case where the killer targets female subs from BDSM clubs. Rome happens to be a Dom who goes to the BDSM club Rough n’ Ready and knew some of the latest victims. Maria Callahan is a D.C. FBI agent who comes to Hawaii to catch the killer and she has a plan to use herself as bait. In order for her plan to work needs Rome’s assistance to get the killer’s attention at the club. When Maria and Rome meet and have an instant spark of interest, you know that more sparks will fly later on when they start working together on the case. Is the BDSM play all an act or are they both falling for one another?
A Little Harmless Submission, the newest in the Harmless series has all the usual elements found in the previous instalments. Hot Doms and subs, a storyline that interests the reader, a tropical setting that makes me want the first flight there, and of course a bit of kinky “fun time” in the bedroom. It also introduces new characters with ease and brings back old favourites for a visit. There’s even a good amount of suspense with the whole serial killer on the loose. A red herring or two to keep us wondering who is up to no good and who is just up to some naughty mischief.
I love mysteries and suspense, and to have this in an erotic romance book gives it an extra layer for me to enjoy. I like to try and see if I can spot the clues as to who the killer will turn out to be. Melissa Schroeder gives us a few suspects who could fit the bill nicely to keep us guessing. The BDSM was well played. Nothing over the top for the characters personalities. With Rome being an experienced Dom and Maria posing as his sub, it was kept to light bondage play and the occasional toy, which made sense for what was going on in the story.
My way of thinking for erotic romance books is that, if you can remove the sex scenes and just go on the base story and it still keeps you interested, then it’s a good book to read. A Little Harmless Submission does just that. The Police/FBI hunting the serial killer preying on the submissive women members of the BDSM clubs grabbed me. It had a flow to it that kept it moving forward and wanting me to keep reading to find out what happens next. As for the love scenes, they were tastefully written and easy for me to visualize as I read them. They fit in well with the whole storyline. I thoroughly enjoyed reading ALHS!
What can I say but I am one of the many ALH reader addicts? Am I ashamed of such an addiction? Not even close. I personally believe each books gets better, as the characters expand and more stories emerge. Ms. Schroeder has created magic with each book,, and it gets a bit harder to choose which couple as my favorite, but this couple are tied with my first choice in “A Little Harmless Sex Book 1". Now as my second favorite is “A Little Harmless Submission Book 6". I fell in love with Romeo Carino in “A Little Harmless Submission” because his passionate thoughts and feelings for Special Agent Maria Callahan. His name fit him so well as the story just unfolds to reveal his Dom nature. He is excels in how he reads Maria from the very beginning, and the fire that burns so hot between the two practically singes pages. I expected the combined need that drew the two together to be hot and sensual, but again Ms Schroeder has outdone herself as she weaves the tale in their reaction to one another. Sizzling is a mild word to describe how Rome and Maria come together once they are alone at Rome’s home. Maria may have studied and researched the BDSM world, but she has yet fully experienced it until Rome takes control in their encounters. Can we say bring out the fire extinguisher, and watch the scenes play out? The two of them are like gasoline and a match when they come together. You need a large fan and a whole pitcher of ice water to cool you down. The suspense is keeps the reader on their toes as the story unfold, and both are ready to stop the madman as quickly as they can before the killer strikes again on another member of the BDSM world. Ms Schroeder has done it again with the awesome world of ALH. She weaves a story with excellent character development and plotting. You just never get a bad story, and they just keep getting better and better. I can’t wait to see what is coming next, and eagerly await the continuing stories in the future. Ms. Schroeder delivers with each story in the saga, and we the readers eagerly anticipate each and every wonderful tale. Kudos to this wonderful author! You have another forever ALH fan.
I enjoyed this book, but I can’t say I loved it. The story carried along at a nice pace, the love scenes were hot and plot was decent (though I knew who the killer was from the start). I had a few issues with the story, though. The first, the hero and heroine fell in love WAY to fast. I understand its fiction, and I’ve come to expect some fast courtships in a romance, but this story only spanned about a week. The couple end up in bed together only hours after they meet, and they declare their love and decide to get married by the end of the week. For me, that was just too fast and not believable at all. Why does it have to end with a proposal? Why couldn’t they agree that they had something special and decide to pursue a relationship? Or, perhaps the story could have been more spread out.
Not only that, Maria, the heroine, wants to make a name for herself in the FBI (at least at the beginning of the book), but by the end of the book she hates her career and decides to give it up. It seemed a little contradictory, and it felt like it was thrown in for the sole purpose of the happily ever after.
There was one more thing that niggled at me a little while reading this novel—the BDSM was off (to me). I just didn’t buy Rome as a Dom.Jealous and bossy? Yes. Dom? No. On the surface he seemed to order her around a bit, but it felt like she complied only if it suited her. And if he decided she needed punishment? Well, I wouldn’t really call what he did punishment. The hero called himself a Dom, and apparently he was a good one (according to what we’re told) but I didn’t feel it in the actual scenes. I wanted to feel that he was truly in control and she was really submitting, but I just didn’t.When I read a BDSM book I like a little struggle. I want to feel that the submissive is actually giving over control. Maria definitely doesn't give up control or struggle.
A few small inconsistencies aside, I still enjoyed the book. Though, I probably won’t reread it.
Snap, Crackle Sizzle…is how I would describe Schroeder’s latest novel in the “Harmless” series. Sex, murder, sex, bdsm, sex and Hawaii are all included in the story. Rome Carino is a no holds barred detective in Hawaii. A body turns up that indicates a serial killer may be on the loose. The body isn’t just a random murder. The body was the latest to turn up near a local BDSM club. The FBI soon enter the picture and much to Rome’s surprise he is assigned a temporary new partner for the case, Agent Maria Callahan. Rome doesn’t enjoy the FBI looking over his shoulder while working on this case and Agent Callahan doesn’t enjoy Rome’s smugness over any and everything. Yet, they both have an instant attraction to each other. The case calls for the Rome and Maria to go undercover and a dom and sub in the BDSM club scene. The irony here is that Rome really is a Dom in every sense of the word. Maria who is by no means your average sub would be better described as a switch. After a very lusty evening at the Rough and Ready club with friends Micah and Dee, Rome’s feelings for Maria have intensified. Maria’s libido is sky high after seeing Rome in this new situation. Surprising Maria even further is the fact that she wants to be dominated by Rome. Their first encounter is one that brings about an alpha male and an alpha female. Rome’s feelings for Maria go further than the D/s relationship. Maria trusts Rome and that surprises her as she not only lets go of her inhibitions, she lets go of the tight control on her life. While Rome and Maria continue to work on the case, things take a serious twist as the killer sets his sights on both Maria and Rome. Schroeder’s acerbic humor weaves it’s way through this story and the location of Hawaii makes this story that much hotter.
I am a huge fan of Melissa Schroeder’s Harmless series and I think this one may have been one of my favorites. Rome is not only a strong Alpha male but just an amazing hero who any girl would love to get their hands on. Maria is actually an FBI agent and pretty kick ass herself. When Rome and Maria get together in the bedroom he realizes that she is the perfect sub to his Dom. This isn’t just another sex story but a wonderful romance in its own and has suspense that will have your heart pounding.
These two are working together to solve a major serial killer case. The killer is out killing subs so Maria has decided to go undercover and become partners with Rome, who works for the Hawaii Police Dept. Rome knows Maria can take care of herself but that doesn’t stop him from him worrying about her and wanting to protect her.
The scenes were very much believable and had a lot of details that kept the story pushing through. The way Schroeder explains every detail is absolutely outstanding. I loved that fact that you had emotions, suspense and an actual story to get lost in. The characters are very well developed and strong in their own ways. They were honestly the perfect match for each other.
This is a must read for all those who love a strong heroine and hero. The best part is that you can read these as a series or a stand alone. I haven’t read the first few books but as this series goes on I will have to make it a point to go back and start from the beginning. I can’t wait to see what else Melissa Schroeder will have in store for her fans.
Wow! This story is HOT. The characters, the plot, EVERYTHING, makes this story one of the best in the Harmless series! Even though I have the most overwhelming reading pile that actually makes me nervous, as soon as I was sent an eARC, I put everything else aside to read it. As soon as I found out Submission was going to feature Rome, I could not wait to read it! Schroeder, once again, has written a fantastic novel and clearly does not disappoint.
Rome Carina is a tough detective whose latest work has him looking for a serial killer that has been killing subs that go to the local BSDM club, "Rough and Ready". Being a member of the club as well, Rome finds this case very personal and will do anything in his power to find the killer before he kills another female. Maria is a member of the FBI who goes to Hawaii to catch the killer. She is willing to do anything to prove herself in force, even if that means posing as Rome's sub and putting herself right in the killer's view.
Rome and Maria have amazing and hot chemistry. I could not have asked for a better couple to get to know! I really enjoyed watching their relationship grow. It totally worked for me because it seemed so real.
Evan is still my favorite Harmless hero, but Rome is definitely a close second! A Little Harmless Submission is not to be missed! Actually, the entire Harmless series should not be missed!
Rome is a detective trying to catch a serial killer who is killing submisives from Rough-n-Ready BDSM club. Rome is also a DOM at said club. Maria is a FBI agent who is following in her father's footsteps. She is in town to help with the investigation. Except the only way to catch the killer is to pose as a submisive and have Rome as her DOM.
This is a fantastic read. Rome was absolutely smokin HOT and the perfect DOM. He was alpha and in control but he had a soft side that he showed with Maria. He was very controling yet protective and sweet. Maria was determined to prove herself to everyone at the agency and was willing to do whatever necessary to get the job done. She was strong on the outside but vulnerable on the inside. The chemistry between the two was explosive and you could practically feel it. The BDSM scenes we definitely D/s yet they were soft and emotional. Rome knew exactly what Maria wanted and needed and he never once overstepped. I especially enjoyed the banter betwen Evan, Micah, and Rome. It was a very pleasant addition to the story to revisit the guys from the past. We also got to see Dee and May and they added a light touch of humor to the story. I love the feeling of friendship and family I get while reading these books. I am excited to read the stories of a couple of men we were introduced to and to see what MS has in store for us next.
I'm not sure what to say about this one. I did enjoy it, but it was a bit disappointing. I would say the title is dead on. Rome is a cop in Hawaii on the trail of a serial killer who is targeting submissives the frequent the club Rough and Ready. Maria is a FBI agent also on the trail of the killer. She heads to Hawaii to go undercover as a sub to catch the killer. First off there is very little submission in this book. Rome is supposed to be an experienced Dom, but we don't see much of that here. There is some bondage play and spanking. I understand that Maria is a novice, but I would have loved to see her induction into the life written with a little more detail. That being said, I did enjoy Maria and Rome's romance. Each had there own quirks and hang ups but I think Ms. Schroeder made me believe they were falling in love. The suspense aspect read OK. For an avid reader of rom-suspense it might be on the light side. The ending was a bit rushed and the bad guy while not disappointing, was a bit flat. I would have loved to see a bit more action in and out of the bedroom. This is part of an on going series and although I haven't read any of the other entries I didn't feel lost. I got this during AllRomance's x-mas promo so it was a freebie. If I can get another book in this fashion I'll be giving Ms. Schroeder another try.
A Little Harmless Submission is yet another great addition to the Harmless series. Melissa Schroeder has once again written an amazing story.
Rome Carino is a determined detective on the hunt for a serial killer, who is targeting BDSM submissives. Rome is a Dom and a member of the BDSM club Rough 'n Ready. His interest in tracking down this killer is both professional and personal. Friends with the owners of the club, and having seen or met some of the victims has him outranged at the brutal murders. Maria Callahan is FBI; the daughter of the famed FBI agent who made it his life's work hunting down serial killers. Maria has lived in her Father's world and in his shadow as an FBI agent. Maria knows she needs to prove herself and now is her chance to stand on her own. Maria hopes to enlist Rome's help to set a trap to catch the killer. Maria's plan is to pose as a submissive visiting Honolulu, in order for her plan to work she needs Rome to be her Dom. Neither Maria or Rome are prepared for the attraction to each other. Working undercover as a Dom and a Submissive is going to be a pleasure and a distraction.
*Warning* this book has a great plot, hot steamy sex and two headstrong determined detectives. Read with a cool drink and a fan.
FBI agent Maria Callahan has mighty big shoes to fill and needs to solve this case to prove to the other agents in her department that she is worthy of her position, not just riding the coat tails of her father’s legacy. Maria has a plan—bait the hook with herself as a sub to lure in the killer—hopefully ending the sideways glances from within her department once and for all. She enlists the help of Rome Carino, HPD detective and frequenting Dom of Rough-N-Ready and look out … Game. Is. On. Rome finds out she is not the icy woman she first appeared to be, she’s the perfect sub and a truly beautiful woman who evokes reactions in him that throw him for a loop. For Maria, Rome just may be the ambassador for the male species, proving that not all have an agenda to use her as a step-ladder to gain position…well, maybe as a Dom he DOES gain position, but only in the bedroom!
I’m a Big Harmless fan of the Little Harmless series! Rome and Maria are loveable characters in this story with good dialogue, even pacing, sexy bedroom scenes, suspense and an HEA. I’m anxiously awaiting #7 – A Little Harmless Fascination – Coming in January 2012.

A little Harmless Submission by Melissa Schroeder.
WOW another awesome story by Melissa. From the start, you got idea's into who the killer could have been.
Rome and Maria's relationship that almost wasn't. Then was and the smokin hot sex that followed. Love at first sight! Maria was a stong person, or tried to be on the outside. But she had alot of insecurities on the inside. Rome, he also had some problems to work through. Together they made a great couple. They played at home, but not at the club, and the play at home was hot.
I almost thought that Mr. St. John was the Killer, but in the back of my mind, I thought it could be the partner too.
The ending is fierce(spelling?) But sweet.
As with all of Melissa's books, you get a short look at past books and it will be interesting to see if there are little ones running around for this couple.
thanks Melissa for another AWESOME Harmless Book!

Rome Carino is a police detective on the hunt for a serial killer. Maria Callahan is an FBI agent assigned to oversee the case. Immediately the sparks fly.
This was a well developed story. The main characters were really easy to identify with and like. Revisiting old characters was absolutely fab (love Evan and Micah). Great back story on Rome and Maria, the right motivation for why they are the way they are. The mystery played out nicely through the end. Smexy scenes were deliciously hot and just the right amount of them. BDSM elements were on the sugarkink side.
Conclusion...This is another great story by Melissa Schroeder. Hot alpha male, nicely submissive but independent woman, great sexual tension, steamy romance, and a fascinating mystery. Altogether delicious! I could NOT put it down!
A Little Harmless Submission is the story of Detective Romeo Carino and FBI Special Agent Maria Callahan. They are put together to solve the murders that are linked to the BDSM club Rough N' Ready.
Rome is a well known Dom at Rough N' Ready and Maria has extensively researched the BDSM lifestyle but has never participated. This story is about their professional and personal lives crossing paths and discovering the difference between being controlled in one life and controlling in another.
This is an excellent sixth instalment of the much loved Harmless series and as usual it is hard to stop reading. Submission has everything that you would expect from Ms. Schroeder, not only are there a few new characters that have been introduced, the loveable banter between favourite characters is here again and it feels like you're catching up with some old friends.
A Little Harmless Submission by Melissa Schroeder I am so glad that Melissa Schroeder has decided to continue this series. A Little Harmless Submission is the 6th book in this series (but can be read as a stand alone) and I really got a kick out of it. Rome Carino is a cop and a Dom working a serial murder investigation. Subs are being raped and killed. Maria Callahan is a FBI agent with a need to prove herself. She plans to use herself as bait to catch the killer. Rome and Maria are combustible. I love how Maria shakes the ice cold Dom. This is a wonderful mystery and love story. Keep them coming Ms. Schroeder
Sexy as hell and a little scary there for a minute or so.
Both Rome Carino and Maria Callahan are trying to catch a killer who is going after subs. They find there self’s not able to stop how they feel about one another. Maria never thought her self as a Sub. In addition, finds Rome a very intimidating Dom with a passive strike. Therefore, to find and catch a killer they have to pull together!
Like I said very sexy and steamy story!! This one will get you hooked** Recommended to the Erotica > Bdsm readers!
Maria is a FBI agent, an Alpha female, determined to find The DOM, a serial killer, to prove she earned her spot on the FBI, not just given it because her father was a big time FBI agent. Even if it means "pretending" to be a sub to Rome. Rome is a DOM and the HPD Police Officer in charge of the cases involving the serial killer. There is an instant attraction and chemistry between Rome and Maria, it is hot and emotional.
Melissa Schroeder hits it out the park again with the newest addition to the Harmless series. I didn’t think that I could love a hero and heroine more than her past characters, but then comes Rome and Maria to prove me wrong. I instantly fell in love with Rome Carino and rooted for Maria Callahan and her sexy FBI attitude. Rome definitely met his match and you’ll find yourself wanting to read this book over and over again. If you haven’t read any of the Harmless books then you need to jump in with both feet now.
Omg I so took my time with this book lol I didnt want it to end lol.. Melissa Schroder did an awesome job on this book. Det.Rome Carino has women turning up dead in Hawaii. The FBI have been chasing this killer around for 2 years and finally send FBI Agent Maria Callahan over to help catch this killer. there is light BDSM in this book which i love and suspense. you have to read it for your self to see how this book is hard to write a review for it :) its that good and one to re-read over again. Loved it
I wanna Rome of my own. This book was Hot and who wouldnt want a Dom of their own. Maria was one lucky gal who got the man at the end of the book.. This book has it all, bondage, BDSM, steamy sex, shower sex, wow, Melissa Schroeder is an amazing writer. BRAVO!
As far as the "Who done it?" part of this book I knew right away. The rest of the book was great! Wonderful new characters, lots of hot steaminess, and passion for days!
