879 AD, Norway. Halvdan , son of Ragnar Lothbrok and King of Dublin, is locked in a savage war with Irish Dubgaill warriors in a battle for supremacy of Ireland’s coastal strongholds.
Hundr , a Northman with a dog's name… Viking warships flying the raven banner… and the echo of Ivar the Boneless .
Hundr and Einar the Brawler are drawn into a search for the son of Bjorn Ironside , lost during the war for Ireland’s future. Old enemies seething with vengeful fury emerge to throw Hundr and Einar into the most dangerous fight of their lives.
Hundr must join the war between the Finngaill and the Dubgaill and decide the fate of Dublin. Can he survive brutal betrayal and vicious shield wall battles in this fast paced Viking adventure with striking characters and bloodthirsty action?
The Raven and the Nine continues the unmissable Viking historical fiction saga series which began with Award Winning Author Peter Gibbons' debut novel Viking Blood and Blade.
I am an author based in Kildare in Ireland, with a passion for Historical Fiction, Fantasy, Science Fiction, and of course writing! My books include the Viking Blood and Blade Saga and the Saxon Warrior Series. You can visit my own website at www.petermgibbons.com or find me on Facebook at https://www.facebook.com/Peter-Gibbon...
As always a brilliant book with wonderful storytelling. Descriptions of places and people are vivid, battle scenes are also very graphic. The author certainly knows his stuff. The history is great and well-researched and I enjoy looking up all the real people and battles that were fought at that time. I even Google how to pronounce the Norse names and in this book anyway, the Irish ones too. First class writing by a first class author. Throughly recommended.
The whole Viking saga is brilliant. Will have to put it in my top 10. Such a good read. I couldn’t stop after the first one. I wish there were more to continue the series created. The way my mind built the characters from the description the author gave us, was like a series of Vikings in my mind constantly. Amazing!
All of the Viking Blood and Blade Saga books are first class. Mr Gibbons ability to build characters and develop them is masterful as is his attention to detail. The pace never drops and the plot twists and twines like a Viking's plaited beard. The author deserves to be spoken of in the same breath as Conn Igguldson and Bernard Cornwell. Now on to the Saxon story line.
Super excellent series if you're a viking warrior freak like me. I was hooked from the 1st chapter of the first book in this Blood and Blade series and read them all. This author goes above and beyond in his descriptions of characters and battle scenes. You can literally visualize what's happening as if it were a movie. This series should be movies.
Glad I found Peter Gibbons and will definately be reading and following all his stuff. THANK YOU!
Book number 6 Hundr the man with the dog name finds himself in another dilemma this time a Volva or witch also Finns mother. This story has a lot of action, violence, and even betrayal. I hope this is not the final book. Please Peter Gibbons 1 more fight with Rollo and the Frank's in book 7.
This series is top notch. Absolutely brilliant. Superb characters and a fast paced storyline leaves you wanting more and more. I love this series and if you're a fan of Vikings, you will love it too. Highly recommended.
Gibbons keeps getting better and better as a story teller. His books aren't just fighting, but woven with intrigue as well. Both his story and character development is unrivaled. I only wish that his books were longer.
I appreciate that not every writer can be one of the greats. I have often seen writers compared to those I would consider greats, like Bernard Cornwell or Conn Iggulden. This book series is truly fantastic. It gets better with every book.
This is an excellent series of books and captivating stories. Peter Gibbons is now one of my favorite authors. Looking forward to reading more of his stories.
Great work moves along smoothly with out missing a beat. A long lost love is never more. A man that is like a son is shamed an lost for every. Hundr moves forward an never look back
This series of books by Peter Gibbons just get better and better, this is book number six and follows the adventures of a Viking war band and there adventures in Dublin, if you enjoy historical fiction then these come highly recommended.
Absolutely brilliant book. Action packed throughout. Incredible storyline. Could not put this book down. Eagerly awaiting the next book in this series. Thank you.
I have long awaited this chapter in the saga of the man with a dog's name. It was well worth the wait, but now I have to wait for the next one (Groan)!!!
Never get bored of the Hundr saga . Whilst occasionally predictable , it matters naught … PG’s fluid style of storytelling , compels you to keep on reading !
