The perfect cookbook for authentic simple recipes and straight up travel porn. I wish I could stowaway in David and Nina's suitcases and then when they found me, they wouldn't be mad, but somehow just accepted it and fed me all the noods.
David Rocco focuses on simple Italian dishes made with seasonal and local produce, high-quality oils, and fresh herbs. He repeatedly asks readers to throw out their dried herbs! It has an attractive, colorful layout with full-page photographs of dishes and Rocco and his family (and sometimes Rocco cooking without pants on). Most recipes are printed in white text against a dark-colored background; for the most part the readibility is good, but some pages might make you squint a bit. His recipe instructions are written in more of a story-telling fashion than your usual regimented "Step 1, Step 2, Step 3..." style. My favorite part is the chapter devoted entirely to recipes you can make from leftovers or things out of the pantry. It's a cookbook after my own heart.
One of the BEST cookbook ever read!! I can hear him telling the stories and see him making those dishes. The pictures are wonderful; recipes are very inspirational; the stories are the icing on the cake. Love it!
One of my favorite chefs on Cooking Channel!! Free spirit and full of inspiration! Got his new book - Made in Italy as well! Tried few of his recipes. They were wonderful! His "Lazy man's lasagna" is absolutely delicious. In fact, that's going to be our dinner tonight. Can't wait to read his books.
Who gets sick during Christmas?? Maybe that's because I've been negging too much. It worked, I got David's book for Christmas. Best gift ever!!
