Pepper Pace is the pen name used by the author. Born and raised in Cincinnati, she has always enjoyed creativity. At a very young age, Pepper had a gift for art and would spend most of her spare time drawing images that she later began adding stories behind. Soon writing became more important than the illustrations and though she still loved art, it took a back seat to her real love.
Pepper wrote her first novel when she was 12 years old and had written 2 more by the age of 18. Too shy to share her work with anyone, Pepper stock piled her many stories into notebooks until she came upon Literotica.com and was compelled to share her craft.
Pepper became instantly popular and won several awards each year in which she submitted a story to the site. After receiving popular feedback, she grew in confidence and created a popular blog entitled Writing Feedback where she encourages her readers to interact with her on topics concerning, music, writing, art and pop culture, and can be contacted at her blog: pepperpacefeedback.blogspot.com/
Pepper lives in Cincinnati where many of her characters also reside.
I simply don't know where to begin with my review, but I want to keep it short and sweet.
This was by far the best book (fiction) I have read in many, many, many years. It had action, suspense, a little violence and love/romance but not too much.
Pepper did a fantastic job at fleshing the characters out. I only wish she touched on Kim's relationship with her next friend, Arnitra. I know she was trying to protect her, but her humanity would not have allowed her to stay away from without at least some explanation.
I truly could not so reading it. Every opportunity I got I read this book. I stopped answering the phone I became so engrossed. If I wasn't reading it, I was thinking about when I would be able to get back to it. This is definitely one I'll gladly recommend.
First, I'd like to say this story had so much potential that just wasn't delivered on in the end. I really wanted to like this novel for so many reasons, but I just can't. The writing seems a bit juvenile and fractured; closer to a fanfiction than a novel, but I read some really good fanfiction, so I'm not sure if that is even comparable. None of the male love interests had real personality, they were all different versions of Kim. It read like a housewives dark fantasy (kind of like the Anita Blake books, but I love those novels) without the ability to carry emotions and actually sell the fantasy/story. I felt as though the author was telling the reader what to feel instead of making them live and feel the emotions. Maybe I'm just too spoilt and I would have enjoyed the read more if I had never read vampire/shifter fantasy novels by authors like Octavia E. Butler and Patricia Briggs.
It could have been really good, but there were just too many faults. I don't think I will be continuing on with this series.
This has to be one of the best IR vampire novels, so far, that I've read. The pacing at the beginning I felt was perfect, it was slow and enticing, but pulled you in. I loved Kim as a heroine; she is sure of herself and confidant, but not to the point of cockiness. Which brings me to a very well written love square Kim Russell is involved in. All three men have something special that gravitates you to them.
The ideas about vampires were very intriguing, not far fetched and not conventional. I'm just really intrigued to read the next book, to get the questions answered that have been left at the end of the book.
This was by far the best multicultural UF/PNR I have read. There were multiple cultures represented in major characters. There of the four mains were diverse. It had a good plot a nice mix of urban/pop culture. The characters were likable. It was probably also the least frustrating love triangle in a book I have read. Kim makes a pretty decent heroine even though she tends to be pretty lucky. I will defiantly check out the next installment.
This is awesome. Talk about funny. I love Kim, she is a bad a$$! I love both Paul, and Tony. I am a little skeptical of Alexis. This has humor, drama, and action. Pepper needs to do more paranormal.
I'm amazed I finished it, omg that was really horrible! It zigzags all over the place in regards to genre, personalities, relations, setting, pace, type and plot. There's no consistency at all. She also managed to make all the characters appalling at some point and spends a surprising amount of time describing outfits... I think maybe I should bleach my brain...
I read this one really quickly, literally couldn't put it down. I only got 5 hours sleep last night 😅 I've read so many vampire stories but this? Gosh, this was soooo good. I'm off to read the next instalment. As always, we'll done Ms Pace!
The author announced that these would be on kindle unlimited. That is pretty much what I read. By the time I want to go out and buy a book, I am broke. So thank God for Kindle unlimited lol I hate stories that are told in first person. This one wasn't too bad. I still feel like I am in my beginning stages of reading but I very picky about what type of stories I want to read. So this book didn't bother me having black male lead, partially. Besides the few mistakes that were noticiable in the ebook, I like the world building. Kim was interesting, I liked her and didn't like her. I wasn't totally annoyed but that is good thing because I like my heroines flawed. What I didn't like is jumping of suppose lovers. I am sure book 2 is about to be even more confusing on who Kim may finally end up with. Overall, I like the book.
This book surprised me I started reading this book because a friend recommended it. I started reading it has a slow start but I found my self so engrossed in this book I could not put it down. This is a different kind of Vampire book and it is really interesting. My question is who will Kim choose? what happened to Paul? and will she stay with Tony? Pepper Pace made a cool concept on vampires I cant wait to read more to find out what she comes up with next.
This was my first vampire book, and I enjoyed every bit of it. The writing is fantastic, and portrays’ the right balance of character development and story development. I would categorize this book as a page turner, because when I finished I immediately bought book two in this series.
Definitely going down as one of my favorite pace story! And mind you I'm all for love triangles I think I'm the only one that does. It was funny, sexy, relatable, and hot! Can't wait to finish this series
This book was like She's Gotta Have It but with a vampire who happens to be a smart sister from the 'hood. Very creative and well written. I enjoyed it and will continue with the series.
This was my first vampire story and Pepper did a phenomenal job writing! I loved reading this book and I can’t wait to read the others. YOU MUST READ THIS BOOK!!!!
This author was featured in my Facebook feed and I'm glad I found her. I found her take on vampire variation explanations interesting. The erotica was good, but I'll need to read other books to determine if I like the style.
The characters are interesting and I can see where she has room for each of the to grow in coming books.
There were errors in the book including striking the word just more than once. Didn't like this but have noticed errors in most books I've read recently.
I would recommend the book for those who like vampires, erotica, and strong black women characters.
