This book has predictive text. Each time he blows a bubble and it turns on him, the same sentences are repeated "So I blew another bubble. And that took care of that" The illustrations in this book look like they were done with watercolor. They are very detailed and realistic.
A little boy buys a magic bubble blower from a street vendor and finds he can blow bubbles in all sorts of marvelous shapes--airplanes, a jack-in-the-box, even a kangaroo. It's great fun until some of the bubbles shaped like animals seem to come to life and turn on him. How's he going to get out of this predicament?
The illustrations are classic Mercer Mayer, colorful and infused with touches of humor. Any child who loves bubbles --which is any child--will love the imaginative fun found here.
My daughters 4 and 18 months currently both LOVE this book. It's about a little boy who buys some magic bubbles and the shapes end up trying to attack him, but not before he blows another bubble to save the day. The pictures are bright and fun and the words are short and somewhat repetitive... its a winner in my house for sure. This out of print book is hard to find, but I might have to get an extra copy because we read this one nearly every day.
This book is about a little boy who blows magic bubbles. He ends up blowing animal bubbles. Then he once blew a mean snake bubble. Then blew another bubble to help scare the snake bubble away. Once he took care of the scary bubbles, he decided not to blow magic bubbles anymore.
This is an adorable and humorous story. A boy buys a magic bubble maker and blows amazing bubbles - magic bubbles - of all shapes and sizes. When they become too much to handle he knows what to do to save himself. Such a cute ending to this beautifully illustrated story.
Looking for books for a bubble storytime. This might work. I can get the preschool kids to tell me what animals the bubbles are making. Brief text, so this would be more of a filler. Would probably work in a toddler storytime as well.
10/9/13: I used this as an opening book. The kids loved the pictures and loved telling me what they saw. I wish I had a larger edition of this, but it worked for the smaller group that I had.
Adorable wordless picture book. Mercer Mayer was very creative in telling a story of magic bubbles and the magical creatures that it creates. The cutest illustration is at the end where they boy pours out the bubble solution from the container and a dragon comes out, looking sad that the fun is all over. This is a must read with young children. Kathy Blose

I would use this in my classroom because it is an easy book and the pictures are good.
