A Killer First Date centered on my two favorites couple in the Drake Chronicles: Lucy and Nicholas, and Hunter and Quinn. It was a cute short story with a little bit of oh-my-heart romance, humor, and fun action.

Lucy and Nicholas are my favorite couple in the series. Their relationship started out tension filled and antagonistic. Here is Lucy’s first line about Nicholas in book one:

“He was gorgeous, there was no use in denying it, but he always knew how to make me want to poke him in the eye with a fork. “

Gradually, their relationship developed into a sweet romance. Still snarky at times, but that’s what makes it so much fun! Being in on their first “official date” was too cute. Unfortunately, the Drakes can’t go anywhere without danger following. So instead of riding the Ferris wheel, eating cotton candy and winning horrible stuffed prizes, they get: stakes, evil-smelly-vampires, and an out-of-control merry-go-round as part of the evening! Don’t worry; there are some swoony scenes, too:

“I bet cotton candy tastes good on you.” I swallowed, reflexively licking my bottom lip. He leaned in closer, his mouth just barely brushing mine when he spoke. “Ready?” I nodded, breathless despite myself. He pulled back as if it was the most difficult thing he’d ever done. Oh man, I was in real trouble with this new Nicholas.

Hunter and Quinn are in on the fun, making this a double first date. They’re my second favorite couple of the series. Hunter the vampire killer (only the bad ones), and Quinn the vampire. Quinn was quite the ladies man until Hunter came along. Now he only has eyes for Hunter.

After finishing this, I’m totally excited to continue the Drake Vampire series with Bleeding Hearts. If you haven’t picked up this series yet, you should! It’s fast paced, action packed and full of witty humor!

A Killer First Date is set between Out for Blood and Bleeding Hearts, where Nicholas and Lucy have finally got round to having their first date at Lucy’s school carnival with Quinn and Hunter but with the Drakes nothing stays calm and simple.

This is told from the POV of both Lucy and Hunter and it has the mixture of action, romance and humour of all Harvey’s novels but for 69p it is a bargain.

What I really like about this novella is how Nicholas and Lucy’s relationship has evolved since My Love Lies Bleeding and how they act together now they have accepted their feelings for each other.

I really like this novella and would recommend this to anyone who has read the first three books in the Drake Chronicles.

It's no secret that I love Alyxandra Harvey's Drake Chronicles series, these books are just so much fun to read and always have me laughing out loud all the way through! So when I spotted this short story for just 65p on Amazon UK for the Kindle I bought it without even reading the description.

Lucy has been my favourite character ever since the first book - I love her snarky sense of humour and the fact that she is so fearless despite being the only human hanging out with the Drake family - so I was delighted when I realised that this is the story of her first official date with Nicholas. A Killer First Date fits into the series between Out for Blood and Bleeding Hearts and is told from both Lucy and Hunter's points of view as they go on a double date with their respective Drake brothers. Hunter is fast becoming another favourite character in the series and I would have a hard time picking between Nicholas and Quinn so I really enjoyed getting another glimpse of their lives now they are couples.

Although I wouldn't recommend reading this story before Out for Blood you won't be missing out on anything if you decide not to read it at all as it doesn't contain anything important to the series story arc. However I'm happy to recommend the story to fans because it contains everything you'd expect from Alyxandra Harvey. You get humour, action and kissing scenes with characters you love wrapped up in a short story that can easily be read when you don't have much time to spare. It's helped tide me over while I wait for Blood Moon to be released in June!

If you’ve read any of my reviews of Alyxandra Harvey’s book, you know it’s impossible for me not to say something about the Drake Chronicles. Seriously, once you read about the Drakes, you’ll be hooked on this smoldering group of brothers.

Vampires will always be in style, as long as there's a Drake brother attached.

Fast read. I liked the characters. The book expects you to know quite a few things before hand but is easy to catch up. This story is however very short as in super short. Filled with action packed sequnces and a touch of romance. Worth a quick read.

A Killer First Date: A Drake Chronicles ENovella by Alyxandra Harvey tells the story of Nicholas and Lucy's first date as well as Quinn and Hunter's. It takes place sometime between Out for Blood and Bleeding Hearts.

It was a very fluffy short story, but it still had all the action and romance that you expect from the Drakes. It may not have very much to do with the plot-line of the books, other than the characters, but it holds it's own. I was very much interested in what was happening plot-wise, even though it was short. And I got to see some more of Hunter's POV, which I always enjoy. (I heart me some Quinn and Quinn is always more present when Hunter's around!!)

It made me smile, a big huge smile that made me look a little funny, especially since I was working at the time. That's okay though, I totally enjoyed myself. And for $0.99 cents, what more can you ask for? If you haven't read The Drake Chronicles yet, I highly encourage you to do so. It's one of my favorites! If you have, the A Killer First Date is a great short story to help you pass the time until Blood Moon comes out in June!

So this e-book finds place after the third book in The Drake Chronicles series: "Out For Blood", which by the way is my favorite of the series so far. The story follows Lucy and Nicholas and also Hunter and Quinn. They all go on their first real date on a carnival. Of course it doesn't turn out the way they all want.
I was really happy to read more about Quinn and Hunter because Quinn is my favorite Drake brother and I think Hunter is the perfect girl for him. I just love the way they are together. And Quinn is the reason why Out For Blood is my favorite Drake book.
As always the story was excellent. A fast, cute read.
I was really excited to read this one because I love The Drake Chronicles a lot. Actually, I just love everything Alyxandra Harvey writes. She never ever has disappoint me with any of her books and I've read all of them. All five stars. So be sure to check them out!

Quinn and Hunter are my favourite couple from this series, so to have Hunter's POV again was great. it was short but it's meant to be. I enjoyed the story and i just adore the characters from this series. Hunter and Lucy are such strong girls and great role models. Love them both.

This story started out as a really cute and sweet date between two teenagers, with Lucy nervously planning her outfit with Solange right before it. Coincidentally, Quinn and Hunter, who had just gotten together by this time, were also having their date at their carnival. Since the two dates were happening simultaneously, the point-of-views of the chapters were divided between the two female leads, Lucy and Hunter. Knowing the kind of luck Lucy and the Drakes had always had, something is always bound to go wrong. Usually, it was the kind of wrong that involves lots of blood-crazed Hel-Blar, but this time, some magic is also involved, including some new kind of vampire that sucks energy instead of blood. Luckily for Lucy and Hunter, fighting Hel-Blar was already as common as eating now, so it did not mar their dates too much.
Even though their dates did not go as they had planned, both couples did manage to end their dates on a high. The parts where they did not need to fight off Hel-Blar was quite fun and romantic.

Dating the Drake boys should come with hazard pay. Seriously beginning to think this family is cursed. Even going to the fair is riddled with dangers and that's even if the newly changed vamps can resist the temptation of their very human girlfriends. Movies and popcorn at home sounds like the way forward. this book features Lucy and Hunter on dates with Nicholas and Quinn. Wierdly I think Hunter appreciates dates with a little hunting on the side so dating one of the Drakes is perfect. Lucy on the other hand though she is vicious would like a date with a few less life threatening instances. Perhaps one day...

Told back and forth between Lucy and Hunter. It took a minute for me to catch up to what was going on since I've been away from the drake chronicles for ages, but I kinda remember who everyone is. It was cute enough. Kinda made me want to go back and reread the drake chronicles. I do have some of them.

I really enjoyed this short novella about the double first dates for Lucy and Nicholas and Quinn and Hunter. It was nonstop action as both couples kept having their dates interrupted. (Although the Drake brothers still managed to make their dates romantic for their respective girlfriends.) All in all, I think this is definitely worth a read if you like the Drake Chronicles.

This short story was a little disjointed. I think there should have been just one narrator because of the length. Perhaps, I just wanted to see my favorite main characters.

If you’ve read any of my reviews of Alyxandra Harvey’s book, you know it’s impossible for me not to say something about "The Drake Chronicles". Seriously, once you read about the Drakes, you’ll be hooked on this smoldering group of brothers. I first read "Hearts at Stake" in middle school, and finished the series last year. Six books later, and they will forever hold a special place in my heart.

While I’ve read all of the full-length books, I haven’t actually downloaded any of the e-novellas until recently. I had forgotten just how wonderful Nicholas Drake was and how much I enjoyed reading about his tumultuous relationship with Lucy. "Killer First Date" is after the events of the first three books have taken place. It alternates between Lucy’s and Hunter’s points of view as they try to go on a double-ish date with their own personal Drake brother. But, as usual, nothing with this family is ever easy, and they’re in for a ride—and I’m not talking about the Ferris wheel.

I loved this addition to "The Drake Chronicles". Not only a quick read, but it also took me back to the exciting things that were always happening in Violet Hill. Nicholas and Lucy were by far my favorite couple and having a peek at their first date was exciting. Even though forty pages wasn’t enough to satiate me, I still savored this quick trip back into the vampire mayhem.

"The Drake Chronicles" is a series I would recommend to any vampire or vampire hunter lover who’s searching for an excellent escape into a world of mystery and supernatural beings—that doesn’t bite.

A Killer First Date Review:
A e-novella in the Drake Chronicles, it takes place right after Out for Blood. The First official date for Lucy and Nicholas, Quinn and Hunter, everything is supposed is to be peaceful going to a simple carnival. Unfortunately for them vampires will never leave them. A small action packed, romance filled short story. Fit into the Drake Chronicles. It was a nice side trip away from the doom and gloom of the series as we got to just enjoy a few humor-filled scenes. Wonderful as always!

Overall 5 stars!

So, when I finished the last book of The Drake Chronicles, there was only one thing left to do; read the e-novellas, and this was the last of the e-novellas for me to read. I sad that this was the last time I'd get to read a book from the series for the first time. I have been reading them since 2010, so I have become quite attached to the characters, and I believe that this is a fitting good-bye to The characters I have come to love so much. I'll miss them and they'll always hold a special place in my heart so this book marks good-bye, I guess. Someone reading this is probably thinking, "Honey, they're fictional characters, are you really having a chick-lit moment over them?" Well, yes, I am, because this has been one of my all time favorite book series, and I have grown very attached. In, fact I am growing very nostalgic right now.

Short but it rocked my socks off!

I was surprised to find that Lucy and Nicholas were having their first date because this takes place between the last two books written. I guess it makes sense since there is always some sort danger around the corner.

Lucy and Nicholas go on their first official date at her school carnival. Hunter and Quinn are also there so this book is told from Lucy and Hunter's POV. These are perhaps my 2 favorite female characters in this book. They of course try to have a normal date, but normal for them is a relative term. Throw in some magic and Hel-Blar's and you've got a whole mess of fun.

This is a really short novella, but it didn't disappoint in humor and action. Can't wait for the others to be released.

I really enjoyed this novella, mostly because it features my two favourite couples. My favourite character is still Lucy, she's awesome. I love her sense of humour and the fact that she's the only human hanging out with the Drakes in the first book. But I really enjoyed the idea of these couples going on their first real date. They both head to the local carnival for their date, but things quickly go from great to bad to worse.

Since it's a short book, I don't really want to comment on anything that happens in it because that would ruin it for everyone else?

I know it's a novella, but I'd have loved for it to have been longer, and that is really my only fault with the novella... But it is enough to mark it down...
