I'm being generous with my stars because this book made me laugh. Anytime a book can accomplish this, I give an extra star for a tip.

Got to remember to tip them extra for doing math!

So, we have Emma, who by all accounts seems to be schizophrenic. She has a voice in her head that talks back to her. Get this girl a giant dose of Thorazine!!

See? There's a bright side to everything!

But, alas, Emma is not crazy, she has just been talking to a god all of her life. He's trapped in a jar. I hate when that happens!

I wonder if this scorpion is the voice in my head...

So, he convinces Emma to travel to a jungle in Mexico to release him from his jar. And, guess what? Jar guy is super hot! Lucky Emma!

NO! Not Jar-Jar! Jar GUY is hot. Stupid Jar-Jar ruins everything!

Aaannnd, a bunch of creepy guys want to kill Emma. So, Jar Guy is trying to protect her. But, she's basically an idiot. It's hard to protect idiots. They are just so damned determined to die. I guess it's just Darwinism at work.

Hey, I think these guys are my neighbors!

So, Emma whines, complains, and makes terrible decisions while Jar Guy acts fickle. They are kind of perfect for each other. And, even though I didn't really like either one of them that much, the book was funny and entertaining.

eh, nothing's perfect..

This was a riveting paranormal romance story, full of fun, humor, and excitement that kept me up reading late into the night. Initially, I didn’t expect much from this book, but it turned out to be a pleasant surprise for me.

Emma Keane had never experienced a normal life like other girls. Ever since she could remember, she'd heard the man's voice talking to her, and it'd driven her crazy to the point that she couldn't stand it anymore. The only way to get rid of him was to go into the Mexican jungle where his body was, and set him free from the spell that trapped him for seventy years.

But after successfully saving him, instead of finally getting her life back, she was thrown into a series of dangerous situations. As she was dragged into the world she never knew existed, she discovered who this man really was. But the most shocking thing she found out was the truth about herself!

I enjoyed Emma's character. She was very funny. Reading her inner dialogue made me laugh so hard. Despite the fact that she acted or thought childishly at times, I think I can make an exception for her considering all she had been through. I like that she could be strong and brave if needed, and most of all she wasn't a pushover.

Guy or Votan, on the other hand, had me frustrated several times. He kept telling her to trust him but never told her anything she asked. He promised to tell her the truth after getting out of the trap, but it turned out to be a lie as well. I don't like that he kept her in the dark and treated her like a child all the time. Well, how can you trust someone who repeatedly lies to you? Hmm…

My major problem about this book is the push/pull that happened throughout the story. It is one of my pet peeves that I never want to find in my read, but sadly, it happened. It's no wonder that Emma never believed that Guy loved her and then broke the bond with him since he kept pushing her away and deliberately used the words that he knew would hurt her feelings. Of course, I know he thought he did that for her own good. But please... It was way too much!

However, despite that issue, I really did enjoy this book. It grabbed me right from the very start and held me until the last page. Not only the plot was well-crafted, but also the dialogue. Although the romance part was a bit different from my expectations, there was no denying the sexual tension between Guy and Emma. It was so intense, so much so that I felt like it oozed off the pages! The story moved along briskly and I found myself becoming more and more engrossed in it.

And that ending! Oh, come on, now my curiosity is piqued as the story did end with a bit of a cliffhanger like that. I definitely need to read the next installment soon!

Overall, this was an entertaining, hilarious, and action-packed read. A great start to the series!

The world of this novel is fascinating. It kept me going through almost two-thirds of the book with poor characterization and a flat story.

I kind of wanted to like Emma. She's sweet, but with a hard edge that makes her unafraid to push back on some awful behavior by Guy (or anybody else, for that matter). Unfortunately, she's also either prone to wild mood swings or subject to an author's taste for needless drama (I lean towards the latter) that has her continually signing up for more abuse.

And Guy is just an idiot. Also a jerk. A jerkiot? He lies, breaks his promises, discounts Emma needlessly, and is rather brutal. Since Pamfiloff hides all his "history" with Emma in a vaguely referred to past, it's hard to see how she can stand being near him. Oh, right, he's a hunka burnin man-candy. Gah. By the third time he broke his promise to tell Emma everything she wanted to know, I was just done with him. The book didn't survive much longer as I couldn't stand to watch any more needless drama...

The main girl, Emma: *whine, whine, whine, be judgmental, whine, whine, be self-absorbed*
The main guy, Guy: “I’m being secretive for your own good.”

I am sure it is the intention of the author to make Emma whine during her distressing circumstances (as Emma was described as “whiny” in the words of the book). What I am not sure is if I am supposed to react to all of this positively. Was I supposed to find Emma “whining” as “realistic” because a person in her situation would complain about it? Was I supposed to find her “strong” for standing up to Guy and complaining about things, whether she was right or wrong? Was I supposed to find their constant bickering with the back and forth of Emma’s whining and accusations and Guy’s refusing to tell her things “for her own good” funny or amusing? To be fair, I do understand that she is in a terrible situation, with people chasing after her and wanting to kill her, and being frustrated at Guy for not telling her anything. However, I also understand Guy’s choice not to tell her because every time he tries to tell her something, she blows it out of proportion by outright disbelieving or making wrong assumptions, and then, of course… she whines. I honestly had a hard time liking her as a character. I don’t need her to be perfect and I am OK with flaws or the initial misunderstandings, but I just could not connect.

And Guy frustrates the heck out of me with his secrecy/lies. Considering how their relationship has a seriously terrible lack of communication because of his secrecy and her presumptions, I do not really like their romance either. I adore love-hate bantering, but their banter is infused with resentment (mainly from Emma) and a lack of understanding on both parts. In addition, this lack of miscommunication is there for most of the book. If it didn’t take them so long, I might have enjoyed this more. Heck, I actually enjoyed their bickering at the very first chapter, when I was hopeful to see how their relationship would develop. Unfortunately, it takes them a long time to get there.

However, around 65%, it does start to get better. Better communication, more developments. I like that Emma finds her own strength in a way. She is much more assertive in her words and actions near the end of the book. And when the secrecy is all cleared from Guy’s side, I was so relieved.

I am going to give this 2 stars. I do not feel attached to any of these characters, but I am still curious about how might my perception and opinion in the future if I read about the other characters.

Accidentally in Love with…A God? is the first book in Mimi Jean Pamfiloff’s Accidentally Yours series. It’s a light read with a fun mix of fantasy and paranormal romance, infused with gods, goddesses, curses, plans for world domination and, most importantly, hot, sexy men!
Cover:

Twenty-two-year-old Emma Keane has a secret friend. He’s powerful, mysterious, and devastatingly handsome. In her dreams, anyway.

In real life, he’s an enigma. Maybe just a teensie jealous. Definitely overbearing. He’s also a voice only she can hear.

However, the ruthless deity she’s about to unknowingly unleash on the modern world might not be so easily extracted from her life. Bottom line, he’s got enemies, and now, so does she.
This is such an entertaining story! It’s got a great plot, a hot, hunky hero, a sassy heroine, lots of humor and some steam, and there’s a great supporting cast. All those things are a must for me to enjoy a story, but most importantly - and especially so with a series introduction - is that the story easy to follow! That might not be a big deal to everyone, but given the complexity of the world Ms. Pamfiloff has created, it could have been disastrous, but she pulled it off with flying colors.

I did have a problem with the H/h pairing. As I said, they’re great, but only as long as they’re apart. When together? They were constantly at odds. Arguing, bickering, snarking at one another, and that took away from the good-times.

The bottom line: Accidentally in Love with…A God? is a fun, fast paced story, perfect for a day at the beach or anytime you want something easy to read!

Emma Keane is 22 years old and just wants to be a normal, single woman. She wants to go out on normal dates, flirt, have fun. But that’s a little hard to do when you have had a voice in your head your entire life, a very sexy voice at that. But he’s always there, intruding, bossing her around, being protective of her. She wonders if she is crazy. Especially when the voice whom she has named Guy, convinces her that she must travel to Mexico deep into the jungle to free him from captivity where he has been for the past 70 years. But she is willing to do anything to rid herself of his presence. Little did she know of the adventure that waits for her.

Guy or Votan which is his real name, is a God. The God of Death and War to be exact. He is 70,000 years old and has been trapped for so long. His connection to Emma is the only thing that has kept him sane. And, she is the only one that can free him. Once she does, can he let her go? Or is their connection deeper than that?

I wasn’t sure just what to expect with this book. It is the first book in the Accidentally Yours series by Mimi Jean Pamfiloff. What I got was a fun, sexy book full of great one liners and plenty of snarkiness. Emma is a feisty young woman that is thrown into a world she had no idea existed. And on top of that, she finds out that she herself is not completely human. She is a demigoddess. Half human, half God. And she shows time and time again courage and strength. She finds her power and surprises even Guy with her gutsiness. She thinks that if she can break the bond between she and Guy, she will be free of him and can live a normal life. But can she really? Or is the bond deeper than she could ever imagine?

 photo tumblr_mxzb5hYNMl1rxekheo1_1280_zpseb88b30e.jpg

Guy is, well, he is an immortal God. That about sums it up. He is arrogant, pushy, over protective, and 6’9” of beauty and brawn. He tries to convince himself that Emma would be safer without him, but can he really let her go?

 photo tumblr_myxwvulMsi1rp3mexo1_500_zpsebe75576.jpg

We go on the adventure as Emma travels to free Guy, learns about herself and of Guy’s world. I loved seeing her transform into a self assured woman. And I loved seeing Guy soften. At times I got annoyed at the indecision they both struggled with towards each other. But. I really did enjoy the book. I am confused because in reading the synopsis of the future books in the series, it seems they are not related, but this book ended on a cliff hanger, so I’ll have to keep reading to find out.

Note: This book does contain mature content so is for appropriate readers only.

I'm sorry but I can't stand either of the main characters and I don't really care what happens to them. I gave up at 42%

Emma has done nothing but moan and complain about everything since the very first page. Admittedly Guy would irritate the heck out of anyone but that doesn't mean I want to listen to her whining on for page after page. Guy talks to Emma like crap even though she is going out of her way to rescue him. He constantly belittles her and keeps secrets that put her in danger for no apparent reason. I was over the moon when she kneed him in the nuts because he totally deserved it!

I also can't understand why every single man Emma comes across seems to have the hots for her, she has kissed 3 different men in the last couple of chapters and I've reached the point where I'm just not interested any more.

There have been some amusing one liners in the story but I'm not appreciating them as much as I should because of my feelings towards the characters. It's obviously a case of this not being the right book for me. I seem to be one of the very few people who haven't enjoyed it though so don't let me put you off trying it if it appeals to you.

This man, or whatever he was, radiated hazard. He should come equipped with a set of blinking lights or flares. He was bad. Very, very, bad.

I'm a sucker for a good PNR. Add in a feisty heroine and a sexy hero, and I'm one happy girl. So why didn't I love this book? It had all the right ingredients for a 5 star read for me. Humor, great writing, rich world building, action, it had it all. Maybe it's a case of me being too picky, maybe not. But for whatever reason, this came out to be just an OK read for me.

I think my problem was with the romance. I just didn't feel the love between Emma and Guy. They bickered so much when they were together, I think the only time they got along somewhat was talking to each other in their minds. There was so much back and forth from both sides that I started to get irritated.

Guy would go from caring to rude to seductive to plain mean. I couldn't catch up. Emma was a great heroine; she was feisty, quirky, and funny. I knew I'd like her from the first chapter.

Guy had his moments. At times I liked him, most times I wanted to smack him.

The pace of the story was pretty good, up until the end. The ending felt a bit rushed to me. The epilogue did sum up a few things, but it just didn't feel like it was enough.

While I enjoyed this book, it will not be going on my favorites list. I really liked the writing style and humor in the story, so I plan to read the next books in the series. Particularly with the way this book ended, I'm very curious to see what happens.

There is no cliffhanger with the couple, but there is an event that leaves you hanging, wondering what happens next.

I really liked the plot and everything about it but the MC’s.... my GOOOOOOOOOD. I was ready to pull my hair out with them. They were sooooo fucking annoying.

Like don’t get me wrong, the banter back and forth was amusing but there gets a moment when they idiocy just vexed me to no end and made me almost stop reading all together.

The plot was A+ though and the history and just everything else made me continue reading but I swear..... those characters....... lol.

She's been hearing his voice in her head for her entire life. But recently he's become a real pain, preventing her from getting a life (read: love life). She really needs to get this guy out of her head.

And he has a solution—travel to Mexico and free him.

Mexico, Mayan ruins, ancient gods, ancient god-feuds, an ancient god with a hunky voice (and later on a hunky body). Seems like my sort of book, right?

Unfortunately, wrong.

I just couldn't get into the story, but I refused to let it become yet another DNF, so I persevered, hoping it might get better, it might pull me in. Nope. Didn't happen.

The constant changes in narrative modes (jumping between first-person POV of the heroine and third-person POV of the hero) annoyed the crap out of me from the get-go. Chose one and stick to it, please.
The changes in voice, maybe slight, in different narrative modes also bugged me.
I just couldn't grasp the concept of a seventy-thousand(or something)-year old god using modern language.
All the 'screaming' done in this book (even the male characters screamed!) got on my nerves.
I just didn't 'get' the whole lets-destroy-the-world scenario. Maybe my attention was already shot by that point and I simply didn't care, I don't know.
I. Loathed. The. Heroine. I know, I know, feeling something about the protagonists is better than not feeling anything. But this went beyond normal obtuse, somewhat TSTL Romancelandia heroine. She was a whiny, bratty, bitchy, selfish, idiotic, jumping-to-conclusions, self-centered bitch, and I simply couldn't understand the fascination a GOD (!) could have for her. I just couldn't see it.
I didn't really feel the hero either. Yeah, he was there, I was told he was the hero, he received much 'screen-time', but I just didn't get the 'hero' vibe. He was supposed to be a god, for eff's sake, but he acted like any other guy out there with all the chest-thumping, keeping the chick at arms length, yadda, yadda, yadda. He wasn't even badass, and I've come to expect major badassery from a god (or a romance hero). This one was just meh. Average Joe, even.
There was just so much crammed into the story—romance, suspense, world-building, gods and goddesses, the links/bonds between the deities and humans, the destroying of the world etc. There was too much of everything and it ended up clashing instead of 'working together' to form a coherent story.

It just didn't work. Not even the humor, sorry. Didn't even crack a smile. I guess I was just too busy rolling my eyes.

Right away I was struck with out much I liked Emma when the story started. She is the queen of one liner’s and she has a pocket where she stores problems she can’t deal with. Well in this story she must have over filled that pocket over and over. One thing that did get me about her was there seemed to be a love triangle that really didn’t make me happy. Most of the time I was kind of in a jumble of how she felt because she flipped back and forth a lot.

Voltan, Guy or whatever you want to call him…man I want to fall in love with this God. He has been in Emma’s life, though only as a voice, since she was a baby. While he may be seventy thousand-year old God, he falls hard for he woman he has been a part of for 22 years. When she rescues him from his cenote, you often questions his actions towards her. Mostly he did everything to protect her, but I also would have been a very angry person if he kept avoiding the questions Emma asked.

The story had an interesting voice. When Emma was talking it was in first person. While in Guy’s head it was in third person. You always knew who was talking but it was hard at times going back and forth between voices.

Interestingly…I didn’t feel a great love between the two characters. Attraction, yes, but especially in Emma, I just felt she was confused about what love was at time. Guy being a God, it made sense why he kept fighting the feelings he had for Emma thinking he would kill her if he loved her. Emma in my mind fell in and out of love with Guy and another character on whim every other chapter.

Overall, I enjoyed the book. Had a few problems with minor points, but in general, I was laughing most of the way. The book leaves you with a cliff hanger that will make you beg of the next book.

I wanted to give it more, but I hated the way the chick and the dude couldn't make up their minds! One moment he was truthful, the next he was cruel and he lied. One minute she was kinda in love with him and ready to trust him, the next she changed her mind. It got exhausting.

"Accidentally in love with.. a god" is the first book in Mimi Jean Pamfiloff Accidentally yours series. I read her first book in the spin off of this series called Immortal matchmaker, inc. and liked it so much I decided to try this book. Well this book is not as good as the Immortal matchmaker book but i still liked it.

I really didn't care for the heroine Emma really at all. I will say more towards the middle of the book she seemed "ok" but you could tell she was a young girl. I would of guessed maybe 16 or 17? But she was 22. She was irritating. Most of her thoughts and actions were so annoying and immature. I almost stopped reading because of her but glad I kept going.

Now Guy, I liked him. I thought he was way more rational than his immature mate. It sucked for him to be saddled with Emma but whatever.

Really didn't get into their relationship. I mean he has been with her (in her head) since she was born. He is stuck in a parallel sort of state and his bond transferred to Emma from her grandmother when she was born. And for some unknown reason Emma can communicate with him in her head. She was his only way to pass his time and stay sane. You would figure that there would be some trust built, respect for one another etc since he was there during I would assume bad times in her life, happy times, sad times but it was like they really never knew each other when they meet for the first time in person. She just acted like a spoiled little brat and kicked him in the balls?? when she meets him. I just didn't get it. She was dumb.

Ok well other than that the story itself was interesting. Will see how the other books in the series pans out.

ACCIDENTALLY IN LOVE WITH...A GOD? (a Paranormal Romance) (Accidentally Yours) (Kindle Edition)
Mimi Jean Pamfiloff is hysterical. This is the first in her Accidentally Yours series. Can't wait for more.

You will love Emma and the arrogant god she can't see. She does not dare let people find out she has a relationship with someone she only knows through dialogue in her thoughts. Her friends and family will think she is bonkers.

But when he calls her into the heart of the Mayan jungle to free him from some ancient ruins, with a promise to finally leave her alone after that, she finds that he is not only real, (and gorgeous) but about to further turn her world upside down.

Her desire to have a normal life, without some voice bothering her, may be a futile desire. Because desire is the word. This ruthless warrior-god is the most amazing male she has ever seen or imagined.

Emma is in big trouble. She realizes that her god is as dangerous as the other crazy gods, including my total favorite, wild and crazy Cimil. You are going to love Cimil and laugh out loud at her antics. Is she going to help Emma with the evil that has been unleashed into the world, the terrifying Uchben, or is she only going to make things worse?

You know there's something really wrong when you finish a book and actually have to think about whether you liked it or not.

Mostly I guess I kinda did. Only, I liked our MCs in the being when Guy was just a voice in her head and before Emma when on a journey looking for god. (Pun definitely intended)
After that point it just all went down hill. I didn't like either of them much after and their "romance" was just . . . wrong.

I mean I have read the, "No you're not schizophrenic, the voice inside your head (other than your dubious conscience that is) is just your one and only destined true love/mate" trope before so this wasn't something new but it really didn't gel well here.
It felt really forced but I still can't convince myself to give this less that 3.5 stars.

Turns out I'm not the only one feeling particularly generous and my friend Jilly's review clued me in on the "why".

It was funny.
It made me laugh.
And even with the weird slightly slimey "romance" I enjoyed reading this.

Not enough to read the next book but I'm also not giving up on Mimi Jean just yet.

After a while the heroine and her snarky comments became really annoying. The suspense of the story became annoying. I needed to know the why before it was explained later. I don't like being kept in the dark about the bigger picture. I want to know the bigger picture early in the story. Last, I didn't feel the romance. The snarky comments overshadowed it I think.
I have the rest of the books in this series and I hope for better results.

I think I have found a new author to follow...

I'm assuming if you've gotten to the reviews that you've read the synopsis. No need for me to retell the story here. If you like a spunky humurous leading lady then this is the book for you.

I loved the Emma's spunky attitude, she was no wilting violet. I also loved that she had a shock threshold. She dealt with most things in as best she could and some things she didn't handle so well. She wasn't perfect, but I appreciated that as well. Of course, I loved Guy/Votan- tall, gorgeous god who can kill a man with his pinky? What's not to love. The story was well written, fun, and fast paced. I also apprecieted that while there was plenty of chemistry between Emma and Guy/Votan, that it wasn't the driving force in their relationship or in the book. There is one sex scene, a couple of steamy lead ups, but I appreciated that we weren't stopping the story to drop in sex scenes at every opporutnity (and trust me I do appreciate a good love scene).

I did get a little frustrated with Emma and Guy/Votan at times, but mostly Emma. She was a forceful personality, which I loved, but she had a tendency to fly off the handle now and think later. She didn't always listen very well and had a tendency to think the worst of Guy/Votan, which is a bit understandable given some of his choices. Still, there were times I wished she would shut up and listen. On the other hand, given the situation she found herself in and her understandable difficulty to fully assimilate everything, she was an understandable and extremely likable character, even if I didn't like all of her choices.

Being the first book in the Accidently Yours... Series, I would say this series is off to a great start. I'm picking up the next book today and will put this author and series on my list of those to look out for.

I don't think I can even give it 2.5 stars. This did bring the funny, but the 2 MC's were just too much to even make me appreciate the funny. I put the audiobook at 1.5 speed with the hope that I didn't waste my money yesterday on the Kindle Daily Deals for books 2& 3. Good narrator. I'm continuing because the author is humorous, and Jilly said they get better. I'll try book 2 after I finish up "The Emperor's Railroad." So, likely tomorrow.

So, I just basically wrote a review via comment to Jilly's review. I'm going to copy/paste it. I'm very sleepy. I'm just trying to give context:

Jilly wrote: "Darn! I'm sorry you didn't like it. I didn't like the two main characters either, but it did make me laugh. And, the books do get better. But, I think the series after this one was much better: Imm..."

Not your fault, sweetie. Your reviews were extensive and clear and well-stated. You let me know what I was in for. My choice to try it out, and you weren't the solo influence.

It came to my mind when I was reading it that it was like the female MC had a really huge flower with all the petals in a round, like a sunflower. She just kept going "he loves me, he loves me not." And those was the major underpinnings. I got whiplash from how frequently they both went "OMG, I LOVE YOUZORZ" to "OMG YOU'RE MANIPULATIVE, FALSE, ETC. vs YOU NEVER TELL ME THE TRUTH BUT IT TURNS OUT IT'S YOU ALWAYS KNOW BEST BUT THEN YOU DON'T AND YOU BREAK YOUR PROMISES BUT NOT REALLY, but I'm bipolar but it's ok because I'm funny and you're super-toned and have a big penis, so how could I not love you???!!!)

I think I just showed the complaints of just the female MC in both sides of the argument of why they irritated the complete lower intestine out of me. I'm just too fucking tired. I think I just ACCIDENTALLY wrote a review. I might as well go copy/paste.

From Netgalley in exchange for an honest review

I'm really torn about reviewing and rating this book. I loved the writing ,the alternate POV , heroine's was first POV and the hero's was third POV which suited the story really well. The storytelling was great ,there was enough humor ,drama and action to make this a very exciting book.
Unfortunately the romance didn't work for me or I better say it was non-existence ! The hero was somehow bonded to the heroine for her whole life and she could hear him in head but I couldn't feel any romance there. It was more telling than showing. The lying and bickering was also a bit too much .I wish they had started getting along and being honest a bit earlier in the story.

There were few mistakes and confusions story wise but other than that the world building was great ,there wasn't an info dump (at least for the first 80% of the book) all the details and fact were introduced gradually .

(I have to say it again ) Unfortunately the confrontation with the Villain was so unrealistic and rushed that left me wanting something more.
I'm going to ignore the the last 20% that I didn't like at all and rate the book 4 stars based on the 80% that I liked.

As for reading the next book in the series , I'm going to give it a try ,I only hope the ending is better than this one. Did I say I loved the writing style?

So...I came across this book by accident on Amazon and thought with a great price like this, why not? I love paranormal stories with gods/goddesses. And I like reading new authors because you never know who might be your next new favorite.

I was not disappointed. I like Pamfiloff's tone through out the entire book. She is funny! It was kind of Kresley Cole-esque but with a lighter tone(There's a Nucking Futs Nix-like character/goddess named Cimil. Me likey a lot). I wanted to smack Emma a couple of times...she is foolhardy (sometimes). She really is that girl in the horror movie that you want to yell at. I didn't mind Guy's/Vortan's over-protectiveness. He's a god, so he obviously knows a couple of things. But if Emma didn't do these things...I guess it would leave you with a crappy book and no plot. So for the literary goodness of this story...I'll turn a blind eye to Emma's impatient ways. And because of the reactions I've had to this story...it's pretty good.

And I hope the author's plans for Tommaso are going to be good because...I was not on Team Emma for her decision.

Would I recommend to read? Yeah. Especially if you're a Kresley Cole/ Sherrilyn Kenyon fan...I don't think it would disappoint.
Would I read the next in the series? Um...YEAH!

Mostly loved it

I love the world that this story creates. The gods, Maaskabs, and Uchbans are very interesting and a bit mysterious. I thought Emma and Guy were a mess. I can understand that they have been living intimately in Emma's head her whole life, but it is hard to see them hurt each other throughout the story. The constant back and forth was a bit tedious after a while and Emma was a bit dramatic. This is a great example of love making people nuts.

16%. Disjointed and somehow dragging while being packed too full of stuff? It's a mess.

I wish there was a way I could put how much I despised the heroine into words.

Neither characters were perfect. He was manipulative, kept secrets, lied to her but overall no matter what he did, it was to keep her safe. But our heroine? She doesn’t stop whining about how much she hates him.

To make matters worse she meets Tommaso. He is her guard while the hero is away. Tommaso kisses her (keep in mind this is after she has already met the hero in the flesh) and she develops feelings for Tommaso. Love triangle🤮

Throughout the book, even after she is with the hero and they had sex for the first time which was literally in the last 20 pages of the book, she is still begging the hero to do anything he can to save Tommaso. Even if this includes making Tommaso a god.

I don’t remember the heroine ever admitting she doesn’t like Tommaso like that but you would think after she is fully committed to the hero that she wouldn’t be doing everything she can to help Tommaso. This unnerved me so much.

Here’s a quote from the last ten pages of the book:

One tiny consolation to this mess—not that Tommaso cared—but he was even hotter now that he’d gained a new pair of turquoise eyes just like mine.

Hmmm… you’re with the hero but still falling other men hot? The fact the heroine says he was hotter can give you a clue that she definitely found him hot before. She’s admitted it too.

I feel bad for the hero. He waits his whole life to be with her yet he had to suffer through watching her kiss multiple men and had to seduce her so that she wouldn’t fuck others. (He was trapped in the ground so he couldn’t come out and just take her away.) To top it off now the hero has to abide by the heroines wishes and save Tommaso even though he hurt her and wasn’t loyal. I mean who would want to watch their significant other do everything they can to save someone who they have kissed multiply times and had feelings for? Not me.

Safety:
Dual V
No OW drama
Om drama (love triangle ish)
Heroine has kissed others before and kissed one other after meeting hero in flesh.
No condoms
HEA but slight cliffhanger
