This remarkable post-apocalyptic webcomic has some of the most amazing scenes I've ever seen. It's developed with a bizarre and delicious mix of digital and real-life imagery and it really is kind of a masterpiece, as far as graphic novelly type things go. The plot's a bit thin on the ground, but some of it is really quite funny. And honestly, it could be written in ancient Aramaic for all I care about the words. The pictures are seriously cool.

I'm currently following the updates of this series online, and I think I now know what my definite favorite graphic novel/webcomic is.

The post-apocalyptic setting isn't generically gloomy, which is a relief.
The humor contrasts with the (awesome) art so much it's even funnier, and the newer updates are indescribably mind-bending (example of "indescribably mind-bending": Stanley Kubrick's 2001: A Space Odyssey) when you suddenly get the meanings and references. The plot just gets more and more mysterious, and I enjoy deciphering everything Pilot says and the stranger story arcs like "Lady Amber's story." But just as things get off-puttingly mysterious and strange, something insanely funny happens.

Vitaly S. Alexius has perfectly combined humor, epicness, and what I will call "metaphor-ness."

Oh, and there's no romance to speak of.

I read the first half of the series on WEBTOON, and this is probably my new favorite web comic next to kid ‘n’ teenagers. This is a dismal apocalyptic story without all the nihilism and angst that most post apoc stories deal with. You follow the character Snippy ( Charles snipes ) as he has to deal with the craziest idiots the apocalypse has to offer. I love zee captain; they and their jealous partner pilot are just so fun. I like how this story will do some world building hints at what caused the downfall of humanity, and the rise of a mechanical deity, BUT the world building is never discussed by anyone sane, so you can’t tell what really happened or if they’re just talking out their butt. *Update* I read the whole series & let me tell you I was wrong. every gag in this was foreshadowing.. for some really trippy events & emotional pain. This comic started as a joke & ended up being a dark surreal thriller. I cried...I cried...I cried.

Romantically Apocalyptic was strange and hilarious at the same time. Its weird humor comes mostly from the lunatic (or not so lunatic) ramblings of the Captain and Pilot, while Snippy, the last sane (or so he thinks) person in the world balances surviving the elements and surviving his crazy crew. Unlike most post apocalyptic fiction, it has a very upbeat tone. I've heard it described as "a merry romp through the wasteland". One of my favorite elements is how EVERYTHING is sentient. Laundry, cake freshness-sensors, benches... do yourself a favor and read this. It's available for free online as well.

The art is 5 stars and the writing is 3 stars so 4 stars seems fair.

Nice blend of prose and digital art, but the “sO rAnDum!!1!” style of comedy isn’t really my cup of tea.

Absolutely one of my favourite comics, web or otherwise. I started reading RA online and adored it from the beginning. The art was amazing (seriously if you're a fan of art you can just stare at it because it's so beautiful) and the characters were interesting. It started off like little stories that didn't really seem connected but now the plot is really...confusing but still very very good. If you're put off by "confusing" don't be because it's not like "Lost" levels of confusion. More like "haha what? That's kinda weird". Still this is one of the best comics I've read and I will continue to read it. You can buy the physical copies of the comic or read it for free online. I do both because I like to support the artists and writers and all the people involved with this comic. There's also really cool posters and mugs (Zee Mug) and the people are just very nice in general. I highly recommend this comic to anybody with an interest in post apocalyptic worlds and mind boggling plots and laugh-your-tooshy-off humour. Also the art. Seriously people the art is to die for! Go check this out! Like right now. You're on a computer or something at the moment. You could literally do it right now. You'll love it I swear.

This is seriously one of the most visually stunning things I’ve ever read.

Set in a post-apocalyptic world (duh) the story follows the adventures of Zee Captain, a half-mad nincompoop in a land of half-mad nincompoops. He leads mainly due to the fact that he is crazier than the rest of them, as far as I can tell, and the adventures are hilarious. Puns and simple random occurrences add to the whole sense of absurdity.

Yet the real appeal to me is the artwork. Darkly gorgeous, highly detailed and brilliantly composed you really feel like you are inside the world, or Captain’s mind, or some horror-story combination of the two. The sparse use of colour, and occasional interspersion of brightly coloured doodles, its one of the most visually stimulating things I’ve ever opened up. Just let go and spiral down into the twisted corners of this mad genius’ mind. For in the face of apocalypse, how can anyone remain sane?

Highly recommend this one guys. Seriously. GO OUT AND FIND IT.

Also, check out Alexius’ deviantArt for proof that you need to read this.

The best webcomic on the internet! My absolute favorite.
Thrilling, dramatic story with nonstop suspense, filled with cliffhangers and plot twists, and I can honestly say I fell in love with the characters, each one of them.
I can absolutely recommend everyone to read the comic and its marvelous story.

So fantastic. Hilarious, ridiculous, and macabre with some of the best scifi artwork I've ever seen.
