Aria Darwin has always considered herself cursed. She is obsessed with finding a cure for the bad boyfriend plague. Worse yet, she’s in denial about her weird abilities and terrified of her mysterious stalker who causes the earth to quake violently with the snap of his finger.
With her two best friends, Aria enters her first semester of college armed with a “no more men” pact in an effort to demagnetize the sleaze balls. Unfortunately, the agreement proves difficult when she meets Liam, a charming foreign exchange student, on the first day of school.
Aria quickly discovers that Liam is not only Mr. Perfect, but he also somehow ignites her supernatural side. Upon the invitation of her dream guy, Aria travels to Ireland through the study abroad program, dragging her friends along with her. But her world of euphoric bliss quickly comes crashing down as she uncovers the truth about her past, revealing who she really is and what she was born to do.
Jenna Bernel lives tucked along the bluffs, spending her days lost in the world of fantasy. When she’s not writing, she’s reading and drinks way to much caffeine to satisfy her love of both. Growing up she traveled extensively through the competitive dance circuit, unaware that at the time it would provide her future career an endless stream of inspiration for the captivating drama of Young Adult Fiction.
Darwin believes that going away to college with her two best friends, seems like the perfect plan. She’s always has had bad luck when choosing boyfriends so she makes a packed with her friends to focus on school. But then a perfect guy, Liam, with an awesome Irish accent shows up. Keeping up her guard, he wiggles his way into her heart and convinces Aria to take a semester abroad in Ireland. He even gives her tickets for her friends to join her as well.
Aria soon discovers secrets about her past and that she is caught in the midst of a great power struggle...a struggle to rule the world.
This was a fun, young adult read. The story is inventive, original and well paced to keep you interested till the end. Lots of unexpected plot twists and turns, great characters, strong friendships...I absolutely enjoyed Unearth and am looking forward to reading book 2 in this series.
This book was given to my by the author in exchange for a honest review.
Don't miss the Jenna Bernel's blog tour hosted by Tome Tender on April 9, 2013:
Mary-Sue has some supernatural abilities but doesn't tell anyone because that's not normal. She's also obsessed with boys, which is. It takes roughly 1/3 of the book for anything to actually happen, which is also normal. She's also a 2-dimensional, boring American tween with the personality of a doorknob. Suddenly, Irish Boy appears and, what do you know, she's off around the world following him like a sad little kitten.
It's a very quick read that bores you to death, and somehow makes time go slower than a vaccum. If you like this sort of thing, then it's for you.
Talk about an emotional roller coaster! What a pleasant surprise to find this slightly different twist in this genre! From the beginning, Ari proves to be fascinating character to watch! We have all thought at one time or another that we just can't seem to find "Mr. Right"-then, one day, there he is. Oh yeah, then you find yourself caught in a struggle to control the world, you have special "powers" and are reminded that you have the best friends a girl could ever have! This series has been recommended and read by several friends, as well as family!! A fantastic YA read with great dialogue, twists and characters!
Oh my goodness. This book is free over on Amazon at the moment, and it's still too expensive.
Here are my main problems with it:
1. The author doesn't use contractions in her dialogue. If it were once in a while, then fine. Likewise if the author was writing in a particular dialect. She's not, though, and she does it throughout the book. These are regular people - or at least they're supposed to be regular people until the big plot reveals toward the end - and regular people speak in contractions.
2. The author isn't terrific at using correct grammar and punctuation, either. Lots of missing commas. I know I sound like I expect perfection (I don't), and I understand that liberties can be taken with the rules if you want your writing to sound a certain way. I do that myself, in fact. The problem is, as I've already explained, that the end result "sounds" like nothing in real life. I caught a handful of misused words that were pretty obvious, too - you could tell she was really aiming at a different word and just didn't realize what the word she ultimately chose meant.
The end result is a story that sounds like it was written by a high school kid in a rush to get the words out and who isn't bothering to take the time to hear them in her head as she's writing them. Actually, I wouldn't swear that that's not the case: I remember when I went through an unfortunate phase of reading fan fiction, and that's kind of what this reads like: someone with the outline of a story in her head, but no real knowledge of how to flesh it out or get it to come alive for others. It's flat.
3. The story is kind of lame, too. It's too bad, 'cause it has potential, even though it's awfully similar to other, better-written stories out there. That might have been overlook-able if there were good characters, but...the author didn't write characters. She wrote archetypes. You've got the damsel in distress, and the evil villain, and the good guy who isn't trusted until too late, and it's all so predictable and shallow. The protagonist is an cute-boy-blinded idiot who shouldn't have been allowed out of her parents' sight. The only reason the bad guy isn't twirling his mustache and tying someone to the railroad tracks is because the mustache would detract from his perfect looks. There's no depth anywhere in the whole story!
Yes, yes, I know. It's young adult. That's no excuse. I've read some outstanding young adult fiction. I can't get over the idea that it's labeled YA because high school kids might not notice that this is really really bad.
ReUnearth is a rather quick read centered around Aria, a new college student with some very odd abilities. The main focus of this book seems to be letting the reader get to know Aria outside of her ‘destiny’ and to form attachments with her and Liam, as the supernatural side takes a back seat until much later.
The story itself left me sort of bored, but it’s easy to see the potential of it. A lot of you have probably heard of similar storylines, and I can’t say Unearth offers anything new to the category. For as short as this is it felt like it was much longer, as the story was drawn out and more focused on Aria and Liam’s relationship than anything else. And yes, the relationship does play a pivotal role in the overall story, but we don’t get to know any of that until about 70% through. At around 60% we begin to get some answers as to just what the ‘supernatural’ elements in this story are, but anytime before that it’s mostly just implied or mentioned. A few hand touching zaps and inferred floated, just didn’t cut for me unfortunately. The book does speed up towards the end, and we get more information in last 50 pages than anywhere else in the book and it was a bit much to add in all at once.
I can’t say I felt anything towards the characters either. Aria is a super sweet girl, but she comes off as a bit of a mary-sue in some aspects and unfortunately is not a very memorable character for me. Her two friends were fun and a great support system, and I was happy to see that they were not just there for drama or to interfere with Aria’s relationship. So kudos to that! Liam seemed sweet as well, but he was also fairly one note even after more information is revealed later in the book.
Overall the book was okay, but I didn’t feel myself leaning one way or the other when it came to the struggles Aria had to deal with. I think the fantasy buff in me was a bit disappointed with the shallow nature of the world and character building, and brought my enjoyment down.

Jenna Bernel, I had never heard of her but amazon said hey read it.. Glad I listened. Lol.
Aria is starting college and her two best friends are in tow. Morgan & Kayla. Ari has a bad habit! Jerks!! She honestly has no luck with guys. She has a fear of a stranger. The same stranger whom saved her once at the lake. She would have drown that day. He saved her. This was all before her and her friends take off for college.

I liked this book and would say the rating is 3.50 stars.
I was not crazy about the decisions Aria makes and it makes me have a harder time rooting for her to overcomes.
She talks about making bad relationship choices, but continues do so repeatedly. I did not feel the growth of her personality. She falls so deeply for Liam without knowing very much about him and travels off to Ireland with him and her two friends. Yet she continues to blow off her "stalker" and believes the worst of him.
I would have liked to seen more world building about the Irish fae and spent a little less time in Aria's head. There were a few twists and turns that keeps you involved in this book.
Overall I liked this book and was interested to continue to the next book to find out more about Aria and Clay. I would like to see Aria not be so gullible and start making more intelligent decisions. I know she is only 18 but some of her angst is more reflective of a 16 year old. She has some big decisions coming up and she needs to start making more mature decisions.
Aria Darwin is getting ready to start college. She can’t wait to live with her best friends Morgan and Kayla. She has lived the life of an adopted child who almost drown with an overprotective mother. She is ready to make her own choices. Unfortunately life gets even more complicated. Her jerk of a prom date comes back for more and she fights back but is ultimately saved by a strange man in the woods. She fears for her life. That man is familiar and she knows he is stalking her. Once she gets to college she meets Liam. He saves her from further humiliation her first day. They are drawn to each other, but after Doug, Ari has sworn off men for the first semester. It is a difficult pact to stand by as Liam wiggles his way into her life. Things seem perfect but Ari knows Liam is going back to Ireland after Christmas. Things start getting weird when a mystery man shows up and warns her away from Liam. She is afraid for her friends and Liam. So when the chance arises to go to Ireland too, she jumps at it. Unfortunately things get worse when she gets there. She doesn’t know what to do next. This book was pretty fast paced. I like the mystery of the boy in the woods. You don’t know who he is or what he wants. It freaks Ari out. Then add in her visit from Doug and her record with boys suck. Next Liam enters the picture and he is sweet, she finally drops her walls. It is fun to watch them grow closer. I like that the author keeps throwing in the mystery guy occasionally to keep her on her toes. She hides what she can do from her friends and Liam. You want her to tell them until she does. Once she confides in Liam things change fast. I wasn’t expecting everything that happened. I was hoping for the best. I become completely invested in Ari and her story, so I really wanted things to go well. Unfortunately everything fell apart as she learned who and what she really is. It was a great read for the first book in the series. I give it a 4 out of 5.
Quick Info Standalone/Cliffhanger?: Standaloneish Part of a Series?: Yes POV: Aria ---------------------------------- Meeting the Characters Aria Darwin - Naive college student Liam - Hot irish college student ---------------------------------- What happens? Aria has a bad experience with an ex and is saved by a mysterious being. She swears off guys but ends up attracted to an irish guy who woos her into breaking her promise to no dating and falls into lust with Liam.
Liam has to go back to Ireland and invites and pays for her and her two friends to come with him. And study for a Semester in Ireland. Her 'stalker' as she is calling him tries to prevent her going which just pushes her closer to him and it just ends up a big mess. Final thoughts So I have been putting off this book for a while and while I can see why I did that its also not that bad. Its just aimed at younger readers and at the ripe old age of 25 (fast approaching 26) I don't really get going by a young college woman falling foul to some pretty boy speaking the right lie to get her to believe him. Its an interesting concept and if I was oooo, 5-10 years younger this would probably appeal to me. As it stands it was a fine read but I wouldn't rush out and read the next one. Would I read again?: Nope Would I read this author again?: Possibly.
Summary: In a normal world where her only concerns are her friends, her family, and dancing, Aria soon learns she is anything but normal. She is a part of a long lost line of fairies. With the head of all things evil hot at her feet, she must learn to except who she really is to save the world she learns to love. But it all seems to be too hard to comprehend, especially with a creepy stalker who seems to have the ability to make the earth shake. Not to mention her habit for attracting the wrong kind of men. Still, when her past is truly revealed, the question remains, can Aria save this new world and can she come to terms with who she really is?
Personal Reaction (contains spoilers): These types of books are not ones I normally gravitate too. I tend to stick to realistic fiction. But in reading this book where fantasy comes to life, I found a new genre I quite enjoy. I loved the romance between Clay and Aria and I loved how relatable the characters are. The author does a good job of painting a world where reality and fantasy come together. But, there are some grammar errors!
Content Warnings: -Kissing -Talk of drowning -Self-image concerns
If you could win awards for the amount of jerk boyfriends you’ve ever had, Aria Darwin would get the gold. Too bad her life is way more complicated than that. Not only is she cursed when it comes to love, she also has weird abilities that would get her thrown into a psychic ward if anybody ever found out about them. When Aria enters her freshman year of college, she makes a pact with her two best friends: no more boys. This would be great amd dandy if the dashing boy from Ireland wasn’t determined to steal her heart. Liam, her Irishman, is perfect in every way, and Aria feels like he’s the one that’ll break her boyfriend curse. But when a stalker who can move the earth starts following her as far as Ireland, Aria knows there is something wrong. Her bubble starts popping, and soon she can only face the truth about her life and her future.
The best way to sum up Unearth in a sentence is this: it’s a great first draft. I enjoyed editing, and picking up on the writer’s strengths and weaknesses. The problem with this, of course, is that I shouldn’t have even been in my “editor” mode, I should have been in “reader” mode. To be fair, Unearth is definitely imaginative and full of very realistic descriptions. In fact, I was impressed on how well Jenna Bernel could write such relatable feelings. Some key examples of this are in the beginning, where the story starts on a lake with Aria floating. Over and over again while reading, I made notes on how well mundane activities were described. So kudos to the writer on this talent.
I also give her points for having the characters college-age. It’s not an entirely marketable idea considering most college students skip to adult fiction, and ignore young adult novels. The readers for the book will mostly be high-schoolers/those interested in young adult literature. But as a college student myself, I can definitely back-up some of these activities Aria and her friends do as well as her feelings as a new freshman. I do wish the author had delved more into the college experience, because by the end of the novel, Aria has made no new friends other than Liam (unrealistic), has not joined any clubs, etc., and there are so many little details that could have made this part of Unearth more interesting. Another unrealistic portion of the whole college theme was when Aria decides to study abroad in Ireland second semester. Freshmen are still so new and learning the ropes even after the first couple months – most won’t study abroad until that summer at the earliest.
Unfortunately, those points I just said above were honestly the only highlights (for me) when it came to reading Unearth. This book is so poorly edited. There are so many missing commas that it made the grammar nazi in me want to cry, and simple mistakes like changing “Mom” to “mom” killed me every time. There were too many adverbs and exclamation marks, repetitive sentences, and even apostrophes weren’t put in the correct position. These are huge errors that I usually point out when critiquing work that hasn’t been published yet. Another consistent mistake was the forced descriptions of character appearances. All the words Aria uses to describe her supporting cast are so stilted, not to mention uncreative. And a huge part that annoyed me was the fact that this mysterious stalker was only described by his hair and eye color. How old is he? Is he cute? These are important questions because we have to know who to root for when it comes to the heroine’s heart. I’m a girl, sue me. The mysterious stalker was never gentle and always rude, and since he’d been with Aria for awhile, it was difficult to figure out how exactly he factored in to everything. Not only that, his name didn’t fit him at all. (And yes, this point is a bit irrational, but totally true.)
Aria is a very timid, weak character. If she had actually gone through with the “no boys” rule, she’d have turned into a more self-reliant, confident woman. Instead, she sticks to Liam like a leech, and believes his every word. Not only is she super naive a majority of the time, she is a coward. She never tries to be brave until the very end, and by then it’s too late to change the reader’s mind. I wish she had been a little feistier, a little more daring. I also wish the author had given the supporting characters more back story. I feel like these kids are going to play some major roles in the future, and right now all they have are paper-thin complexions.
I guess I’ll give away the paranormal, mythical creature that will be talked about in this novel (not that the title doesn’t already give it away): the Fae. To say that I was pissed about the storytelling here would be a bit of an understatement. Fae are just some humans with supernatural powers now? What is the fun in that? Ireland is rich with culture and mythology. If you’re going to have the plot set in Ireland and the characters come from Ireland, do some freaking research. It also irked me when the author barely went into the truth on what Aria was. I know it’ll happen in due time, but really? Why can’t there be more world-building when it comes to the topic of the Fae? This is the whole reason for the novel.
If this book had gone through another few turns at the typewriter, it would definitely be a force to be reckoned with. Till then, I recommend it for only you empaths who love description. While the story has plenty of potential, it still is very rough, and the mistakes can be hard to go through.
The only question I leave to you is this: Why is this trilogy called the Fae-Witch Trilogy? Where on earth are the witches?
Aria, Morgan and Kayla...all high school friends about to graduate. Aria has an ex boyfriend who is a complete waste and the three of them are off to college rooming together. Aria has never told her friends about her special ability, mainly because she thinks it's all in her head and she doesn't want to lose them.
She meets the perfect guy...Liam. Irish accent and all. He saved her from the ex. She has told no one about the person who keeps to the shadows who she thinks is stalking her. Interesting change of events when Liam convinces her and her friends to study abroad in Ireland this next semester. She thinks she loves him, so they agree.
But Liam and the hidden stranger have agendas of their own. Which one is there to save her and who wants her for her powers?? It's an interesting story. A bit slow in the beginning, but did get better.
Ever feel a bit off? Has anything ever happened to you in your past that was earth shattering, or maybe strange that at every waking moment you can't seem to shake the memory? All this was a way of life for Ari. Then she and her friends go off to college and life takes on a whole new meaning. A chance meeting with irresistible Liam from Ireland, an adventure to his homeland with her friends Kayla & Morgan in tow. Another man who shadows her every move making the ground quake when he is near. There is mystery, magic, and betrayal in this story. I can't wait to read the next book in this series!
I have to admit, it was hard for me to get into this story at first. The characters are good, the writing is good as well. The storyline just really felt like a college romance for quite a bit, which wasn’t what I was hoping for. This book isn’t terribly long so I endured until it got to the otherworldly elements. Now I am interested and actually want to know what lies ahead for Aria. All my reviews are always voluntarily written.
Six years ago Aria almost drowned and all she remembers is a guy with black hair. She doesn’t know if he was trying to save her or kill her.
Now, six years later she is headed off to college. She just needs to get away and maybe she can make herself do what she did years ago. A secret only she knows, an ability she has yet to perform again. She is also swearing off guys. She calls herself a jerk magnet, but when she meets Liam, who is anything but a jerk she can’t resist. The only bad news is she knows someone is watching her and has no idea why. The only thing she is certain of is her feelings for Liam. But then she learns about her parent and herself and everything changes. She doesn’t know who to trust anymore.
Aria needs to make a choice and this choice could be the life or death of her.
I finished this book in no time. It wasn’t short, but it kept me interested and when you are in a book time flies by. My only problem with this book was I knew what was going to happen waaaaay before Aria did. I felt like I was watching one of those Horror movies where the girl is going up the stairs and you’re like NOOOO Don’t Go Up The Stairs. I still wanted to see how everything played out though. I very much enjoyed it, finding out about Aria and the other characters. I loved the last part of the book the best. Things finally starting to pick up and the ending was great. It wasn’t a cliff hanger, but it still left you wanting more. I’m so glad I got to be a part of this tour which I am reviewing all three books. :D I don’t have to wait for the next one and can POP it open at any time. I can’t wait to start reading it and learn more about Fae.
Aria calls herself a jerk Magnet and well she is. The problem is when she is with her friends, she is herself and when she is with a guy, she lets him run all over her. That is, until Liam. She couldn’t resist his charms. Oh, and she is a major daydreamer and the book says she is always getting lost, but she always knew where to go. That confused me a little. Anyways, I liked her, but I didn’t feel like I connected with her. Hopefully in the next one I will.
Liam is an all around nice guy. He really cares about Aria and is very protective of her. When he finally becomes her boyfriend and as the story progressed he was more of a body guard. Aria’s words not mine, but you’d have to be blind not to see it. That’s all I’m going to say about him at this time. :D
Put on your seatbelts folks and get ready for a bumpy ride because you never know what kind of turns this book is going to make.
This book was an interesting start to a trilogy that promises to be exciting.
I'm gonna jump right into it and discuss the gorgeous Irish men who fill the pages of this story.
Liam was delectable. A real charmer, and even though I had my suspicions about him, I moved them a side for the time being, because who can resist a sexy foreign accent and those gorgeous grey eyes. Although Liam had the prince charming act down pat, I was extremely intrigued by the 'shadow man', as I like to refer to him, Clay. He had that dark, mysterious, bad boy appeal and I couldn't wait for him to make more of an appearance. I also had my suspicions about his motives, though.
I'm not really sure how I felt about Aria. She wasn't a complete flake, but she was just a little too naïve and clueless. I mean, anyone who thinks about giving, douchebag Doug, a second chance has obviously never heard of the saying, "Fool me once, shame on you; Fool me twice, shame on me."
And then to top it off, she was so easily swayed to forget the pact she made with her girls. And I couldn't believe that she didn't even think twice about traipsing across the world for a guy, no matter how she felt about him. Silly, silly girl. Even after shadow man's warning and the strange electric spark that passed between her and Liam whenever they touched.
I guess we've all had those moments of weakness when our heart wins the race before our mind has even had a chance to process things properly. But Aria's actions were far more dangerous than simply resulting in a broken heart. Something she soon found out when things went pear-shaped in Ireland.
Overall I really enjoyed the mythology in this story and the spin Bernel put on the Fae folklore. It was an enthralling read and I was sucked in from the beginning.
Readers of YA Paranormal Romances will love every bit of this story, and I for one am excited to read book 2.
Aria is just your average girl who is finishing school and dealing with a loser ex boyfriend Doug who just wanted to sleep with her. He even turns up at her house in the dead of night drunk and tries to take advantage of her but this mysterious guy shows up and scares him off. He is familiar and Aria feels afraid but doesn't know why. She is adopted and nearly died when she was young and has nightmares dreaming of this guy who seemed to be watching her drown and then he shows up in her back yard. She has made really bad choices when it comes to men as she seems to end up with losers who hurt her so she makes a pact not to date any in College. Her two best friends agree with her and they all make the pact together and head off to start college together. One the first day there she meets Liam, a charming handsome Irish guy and immediately the pact is forgotten and then proceeds within a few days to fall madly in love with him. The author kind of loses me here for awhile as I find it so hard to believe after her stalker experience and Doug that she can fall in love so quickly without knowing anything about Liam. Then to decide to move to Ireland to be with him and blow off college and he of course pays for her and her two friends to go. Warning bells would be going off loudly for me by now but Aria decides to go with him. Nothing is what it seems and there are a few twists but I found it hard to care about the characters though Clay had me curious. I did persevere and thought maybe the second book would clarify things more.
I did not like Aria. I did not like Aria. It becomes a problem when the reader doesn't like the 'heroine'. She's absent-minded, a daydreamer, a loyal friend yada yada yada. She's also weak. Anyone with half a brain can literally smell if something is off about someone or a situation. The old motto if it doesn't feel right, it isn't rings true everyday. She ALLOWS herself to suffer at the hands of 2 men in this book. I can only imagine how many more douches she allowed to abuse her. Doug is a tool. Why can't Aria see it? I did wonder at her intellectual level at some point. She falls for his shit as well as Liam's crap too. I didn't like the guy from the beginning. The whole situation seemed too contrived as well as the moments the author wrote to 'indicate' an expression or look Liam gave towards Aria not in tune with his personality. Hell, I thought Liam was a leprechaun lolol. Clay was written so abstractly, I didn't care to know more. Although I have the ability to reason, unlike Aria, I wouldn't have necessarily gravitated towards him unless he would clue me in. Kayla & Morgan were way cool. I liked both of them. The ending of this book indicated both had an affinity for fae & witch. I believe this plot point was so unecessary. Well, I bet you can, the reader of this review, can guess what my next step is! Yes, YES, I will not go onto book 2. Don't bother because "Ari" (what she likes her friends to call her), is not worth reading about. I can not recommend this book to anyone. I am moving on & forgetting this experience.

Jenna Bernel is obviously a very imaginative person. Unearth is creative and not repetitive at all in comparison to other fantasy novels about the same subject, Fae. The main character is strong without knowing it and in this way is desirable. The plot is well rounded and doesn't slow down to a boring point. All of this is commendable and makes a great story but I believe it could've been written better. Now take this with a grain of salt, I can be very picky when it comes to editing and the overall writing of a story. Bernel does really good with the story part but telling it is another matter. With editing mistakes and a plot that can sometimes drag on unimportant details, I can't give Unearth any more than three stars. Either way I do recommend it, just with a warning. If you pay more attention to the structure of a story than this isn't the book for you. However, if you are just looking for a great story with action and romance-gone-bad than go for it! I did go on and read the other two books so I'm not totally bashing this book. I believe in good structure, though, so this book pricks my side at certain points. All-in-all, yay for Bernel on a creative and imaginative spin on the subject of Fae, but maybe it could've gone back to the drawing board one more time. -your fellow reader
For me this book was a been there done that story with a twist.
Aria Darwin is a teenage girl of to college with a past of dating jerks she creates a pact that allows her and we two friends to not date during the first semester of college. Then she meets a cute guy named Liam and break the pact- she practically dropped at his knees and couldn't stay away! So much for making a pact.... Then she allow herself to travel from America to Ireland with him, even though her stalker-I-can-cause-earthquakes guy warned her about Liam. Only to find out the he is an obsessive King Famorii/demon/devil person who wants to have her as his possession and that she is a Queen Aira Fae. Really if someone says 'hey this guy is dangerous' you don't run of to a different country with him after two months of ignoring him! This character really got on my nerves she is totally oblivious to everything because she is to caught up on whether she should rip Liam's clothes off or just flirt.
The relationship problems took centre stage in this book, I wanted to know more about her secret stalker Clay (he ends up being a Prince Eartha Fae who is her protector) like why did he suddenly show up 6 years ago and save her? Nothing about the Fae world is really shown I found this disappointing since I thought this was a magical mythical story.
it was DIFFERENT! exactly what i had been searching for i was tired of reading same old witches, vampires and fairies and what not! i wanted something new and voila! i found this... Aria is like any other teenage girl but has a bad boyfriend curse on her and her best friends Morgan and Kayla help her through out. they all make a pact when they enter college NO BOYS! but soon Aria finds herself falling for an Irishman! but there is someone who tries to protect her lurking in the shadows, causing earthquakes whenever he wants, but Aria doesnt accept that he protetcing her she thinks he is a psycho stalker trying to kill her and Liam the Irishman can protect her. SPOILER ALERT! she soon confides in liam when in ireland that she can see visions and a guy is stalking her maybe trying to kill her but who knew Liam is the Bad Guy not the stalker! (whose name im not going to tell you! he is so OMG) but can Aria accept her destiny, or take everyone including her human friends down with her it was an awesome read im looking forward to the next book! yeyeyeye i want Clay and Aria im on team Claria!
Ari is 18 yr old girl who picks douche bags for boyfriends, has two great best friends, and was adopted at one years old by a set of loving parents. She also can levitate in the air , and, sees visions among other things. She keeps these abilities to herself. Along the way a child hood memory of almost drowning, and a black haired kid resurface when the raven haired, blue eyed boy is all of a sudden following her. The same boy protects her one night from an ex who gets to rough with her. Off to college Ari goes with two besties in tow with a plan to not fall for any guys at all. Enter Liam, mr. perfect, sexy Irishman. Ari slowly starts to fall for Liam who in turn convinces her to go to Ireland with him for a semester. Ari's stalker(protector)warns her not to trust Liam. but she goes with him to Ireland anyway thinking she is in love. When they get to Ireland things get bad quick, and Ari finds out she is Fae, and Liam is not Mr. perfect. Lies, and betrayal, along with heart break is what she gets from him. This was an interesting story, and I'm excited for the next book.
This may sound odd, but there was only one instance that I felt was too contrived to be 'real'. That said, this story centers on supernatural beings with magic set in modern times.
I thought the characters were interesting, and though for the most part very static, by the end of the story each had changed a bit. I really like the mysterious guardian and hope to see lots more from him. I have to admit, though I thought it was too good to be true, Liam sounded/seemed awesome and despite the author's foreshadowing I, like Ari, wanted to believe it was possible. This sounds confusing? Yeah, sorry, I don't want to give anything away!
I stayed up past my bedtime to finish this story because honestly it felt like the entire last third of the book was the climax. It was enthralling and I enjoyed the book immensely! I picked up this book for free, but I think I have to invest in the rest of the series ;D.
I waffled back and forth between 2 and 3 stars. I'd probably give it a 2.5. It was interesting enough, but there was something lacking. The main character didn't do the traditional ignoring of reason and falling head over heels in love with the guy from minute one. She was cautious and tried to just maintain a friendship. Of course, that didn't last, but at least she tried. *SPOILERS* Even the way it's written gives no real clue that Liam's going to be the bad guy until well into their relationship. I started to feel he was weird when he had bought a car just for his 3 month college visit to the US. Then, the necklace. Then the plane tickets. Whatever the Eartha Fae guy's name was could have prevented all this had he just TOLD her what was going on, but of course, that would be too easy. I don't know. This book just didn't do it for me. I got it for free, so it's not like I'm out anything, but yeah. Won't be continuing this series.
Aria has always know there is something different in her...and there's someone out there who is stalking her ...but all she wants is to be normal n enjoy with her friends, come out of the boyfriend 'curse' problems.
When she joins college and meets Liam..she gets her perfect prince charming ..though it takes her sometime she knows he is the one she loves and follows him to his homeland.
But that's when things change...secrets gets revealed..now she know why she is different and the person who she thinks is good turns out to be more than evil and one who she always has run from becomes her rescuer..in a world full of supernatural..she has to find her place..cos a war is coming and she has to fight it.
Though the story was little slow paced but the twists and turns were definitely the highlight..shockin me!I totally loved the story... On to read its sequel! Sri.
