This book is so funny. Take the rhyming verse of ‘Twas the Night Before Christmas and subscribe to it the tale of a tired, overworked, and unsung hero of the holiday Mrs. Claus and you have A Bit of Applause for Mrs. Claus.
Oh, no!! Santa’s sick with the flu! Christmas is coming, what’s Santa to do? No worries, Mrs. Claus steps up and takes charge in this adorable new children’s book. Set in beautiful watercolors, the brightness and rhyme scheme of this tale will cause both children and adults to cheer! A must for any Christmas bookshelf.
Loved this illustrations in this one! So fun and colorful. The story itself was fine (though I would've appreciated a direct note of appreciation from Santa!), and it was really the drawings that made it good.
I just love to read Christmas picture books as a way to get into the mood! This one was a delight because of Wendy Wallin Malinow's colorful and whimsical illustrations especially Mrs. Claus's hair and clothes which are similar to a Christmas tree. The story by Susie Schick-Pierce and Jeannie Schick-Jacobowitz is a bit too simple and boring. Mrs. Claus in the story has such a traditional female role as the housewife and helper, and shows no spark of individuality.
Santa Claus isn't feeling well on Christmas Eve. Mrs. Claus rushes to get everything ready in time. Santa feels well when it's time to take off, so Mrs. Claus takes a well-deserved rest.
With simple text and brightly colored illustrations, this book is great for a Christmas storytime for toddlers.
Henry and I took turns reading this book on December 7th. Henry says there wasn't anything special about this book other than it was a good practice reading book for a kindergartener. He says the illustrations were just ok.
A very cute almost a poem book of something gone wrong at the North Pole. It is a good story book and one that will make your little one either go OH No or laugh in places. What happens when Santa is sick and there is plenty that still needs to be done.
