Now that Tess Jennings knows that her ghost lover is really alive but in a coma, she is willing to seek any help possible to bring his spirit back into his body. Upon the advice of a friend, Tess has come ask the grand master of the Animus, a sect of powerful witches, if he can help.

Of course nothing comes without a price, and for Tess the price of gaining the new grand master’s help is to find out who killed the old grand master and to help him leave the realm he seems to be stuck in. Tess really doesn’t want to spend the time, but the chance that the Animus might have a spell that will allow Tess to find Kipp and bring him back is just too much to say no to.

As Tess struggles to help a new set of ghosts, she finds out much more about her own powers and also finds a way to split the veil and locate Kipp. With Kipp beside her, even if he is still a ghost, Tess works to find out the answers of who murdered the old grand master and fulfill her promise and get the spell that was promised to her. However, just when Tess believes she is about to get those answers a new shock happens. It seems that not everything Tess has been told is true and now, not only is her life in danger, but also that of her friends who have shown up to help.

When you can see ghosts and fall in love with one, you will do anything to make your lover whole again. Tess does just that in Mystically Bound as she looks for a spell or something that will let her rejoin Kipp’s spirit with his body before it’s too late. For someone with paranormal gifts, I have found Tess is an odd combination of pragmatist and cynic yet with a true want to help the ghosts who just need something to allow them to leave this realm and travel to where they belong. To see that Tess had traveled to seek help from a group that she didn’t totally believe in, showed me just how much Tess wants to save Kipp. I was interested when some of the new information came out about her gift and just how powerful it can be. The fact that Tess found Kipp and was able to learn more about what happened to him proves that nothing much is going to stop Tess. Yet, it was fact that her friends showed up and were willing to help, at a risk to their lives too, showed me just how much Kipp and Tess were loved. I really wanted to slug at least one person Tess found at the Animus house and I hope that before the series is over, he does get some well-deserved payback. The cliff hanger was an interesting one and I can’t wait to dive into the last book in Tess and Kipp’s journey to the love that they so deserve. Mystically Bound is filled with suspense, friendship and the type of love not even the veil between life and death can dissolve.

My Review:
We're getting so close. This book was the third out of four books in this series about the romance between Tess, human, and Kipp, ghost. For me, this book seemed to be a little bit like we were in a holding pattern, setting up for the big finale, but that's not the case with most of the reviewers. Most of them say that this was the best in the series for them. For me, I needed more Kipp and Tess interaction on the page (although what was there was damn good!) This is where my romantic roots show through...I am much more focused on the romance than the mystery and there is a WHOLE LOT of mystery in this book.

This book sets up as Tess is being blackmailed to help solve a murder case. The Animus is a society of paranormally gifted people and up until recently they were led by Alexander, but he's been murdered and the society wants her to contact his ghost. In return, they will help her reconnect Kipp's ghost with his body. But, of course, everything isn't that easy and there is a whole lot of mystery surrounding the Animus and Alexander's death, because he is not a normal ghost. Tess doesn't know who to trust and Alexander's ghost can't tell her.

There's tons of creepy in this book. Alexander's ghost has to hang out in a swamp and of course it seems like the only time they can connect with him is after dark. There are also Wayde and Dane who both have their creepy moments...you never know who exactly is the bad guy in this one. And a HUGE cliffhanger having to do with this side of the story.

With the romantic side, there was a fabulous moment that we've been waiting for....well, it seems like forever. But honestly, it just made me more ready for the HEA for these two. I'm ready. I want them to physically be in the same space and have that space be real and normal and happy. That's not asking for too much, right? I just love these characters so much. I want their happily ever after...

Soon, I know, it's coming soon. Trying to be patient (and then I will be admittedly sad because it's all over...see, there's just no pleasing me here. LOL.)

I received a complimentary copy of this book in return for an honest review:

Stacey has this thing I am not sure what you want to call it but I will explain it to you and maybe any of you can come up with a name for it... She likes to leave you right at the edge of your seat with the endings she creates. I mean during the entire story I figure I am going to learn a lot more and then bang Cliff Hanger from hell. Seriously?!

I didn't want to start reading Stacey Kennedy's Mystically Bound until after I got a copy of Eternally Devoted. I just knew Stacey was going to end this thing in another one of her diabolical cliffhangers, and I was right. I won't spoil the ending regarding the nature of the cliffhanger, but I will say to save yourself the agony and if you like her Frostbite series, just get both books and save yourself the agony.

Mystically Bound picks up right where Demonically Tempted left off. Which was after one of those damnable cliffhangers. This series has to be read in order, so start with Supernaturally Kissed. And fair warning, it is impossible to talk about Mystically Bound without revealing details from the first two books. If you haven't read them and don't want spoilers for them, take a look at the reviews for Supernaturally Kissed here and/or Demonically Tempted here instead.

So Mystically Bound starts out with Tess in White Castle, Louisiana (no town should be named White Castle, I kept thinking of the little square hamburgers). She's in White Castle because that's where the Animus is, and they might be able to help her get Kipp's spirit back into his body, providing she helps them first.

And providing she can locate Kipp's spirit in the Netherworld. She knows exactly where his body is now. It's in the hospital, in Memphis, in a coma. That's why his ghost never acted like all the other ghosts.

Kipp's not dead. Not yet, anyway.

But the former leader of the supernaturally gifted, a group known as the Animus, is dead. They need Tess to talk to Alexander's ghost and find out who killed him. but it's not quite that simple.

Nothing has been that simple since the day Kipp's ghost drifted into her life.

Escape Rating B+: The Frostbite story as a whole is all about Tess' relationship with Kipp. There isn't a whole lot of Kipp in this book, so that's kind of a downer.

It was all too easy to figure out who both of the "bad actors" were long before they were revealed in Eternally Devoted. One person's motives were clearer than the other, but who they were was just a shade too obvious.

This may be me geeking out just a bit, but having the supernatural society named "the Animus" didn't sound or feel right to me. My mind kept going to either the dictionary definition of animus or the old psychological concepts of anima and animus. Neither may have been meant, but both went to wrong contexts in my head.

Because I read Mystically Bound and Eternally Devoted back to back, the cliffhanger wasn't as frustrating as it might have been. On the other hand, Mystically Bound felt like half a book. I enjoyed it, but not only did I know it wasn't over, it felt like the first part of a two-part episode--the story didn't feel finished.

I'm very glad I waited until the final book was out before I read this one.

We all have our reasons for why we like certain genres. What drew me in and captured my interest in Urban Fantasy was the focus on a strong heroine who is the type to have a tremendously crappy time getting knocked down physically and/or metaphorically, but still manages to get up, dust off and go at the problem again. In the Frostbite series, Tess is no exception particularly in this segment of the story.

After the cliffhanger ending of the last installment, I was so eager to find out what happened next. For those that haven't heard of this series, it is definitely one that must be read in order and it just builds in intensity so you probably don't want to read past this point if you don't want spoilers to the series.

Now in this latest story, Tess, along with her witch friend Gretchen travel to Louisiana to discover if a secret group of magic wielders can help her get to Kip in the Netherworld and bring him back. The thing is that they want something in return for their assistance. Tess must help them solve the murder of their Grand Master in exchange for their knowledge of how to bring Kip back.

Tess feels strong-armed and nearly betrayed when even some of the cards are put on the table regarding this group. Sadly, even with the nasty little revelations she is given, she has to agree to help them to get their help. As the story unfolds, it becomes obvious quickly that nobody can be trusted and there are secrets layered on top of secrets. Discovering motives and solving the murder? Pshht, right! Everyone acted suspicious at some point. The tone of this story was this constant feeling of waiting for the other shoe to fall each time Tess entered a new situation. The atmosphere is definitely getting darker with each succeeding book and it had the feel of a really good murder mystery in a scary old mansion. Brrrr! Well actually, I didn't get scared from the ambiance because I had strong suspicions the whole time and I still think I'm right even if the big revelation didn't happen in this segment of the story. Yep, you guessed it- another startling statement and cliff hanger of an ending. But hey, at least I got a nice strong dose of some Kip and Tess togetherness that I wasn't expecting and there were a few answers from the last book's mysteries given in this one not to mention Tess discovers even more about her abilities.

Honestly, this series is a serious addiction for me. I may need an intervention soon. With that being said, I recommend this series for the Urban Fantasy lovers who like a blend of ghost story, magic and a torchy pair of star-crossed lovers.

Our Review, by LITERAL ADDICTION'S Pack Alpha - Michelle L Olson:

It's a well known fact that I am a Stacey Kennedy groupie and that I love the FROSTBITE series. So, of course I had this book pre-ordered, and jumped on it immediately.

Now when I heard that the final installment of Frostbite ended up being split into two books, I figured that Stacey might leave us with a cliffhanger, but JUST as she got my heart rate fluttering, there were no more pages to be had...

I wanted to rant, but the book was a great set up & first 1/2, and just left me wanting more, so I can't be too upset. ;-)

It's a bit different than the first three books of the series, and I think that's because it was this massive build up for the final grand finale. It doesn't have quite the amount of character interaction that we got in the first several installments, but the mystery is intense, insane and incredible!

Tess is stuck between a rock and a hard place in this release. She remains her feisty stubborn, independent self, but is basically bullied into helping the Animus - a secret society of supernaturals - solve the murder of their leader by trying to make contact with his ghost and therefore find out who murdered him, in exchange for them helping her find Kipp. Like all things in Tess's life thus far though, it's not easy, and nothing goes according to plan.

There are a bunch of awesome surprises in this book, some long awaited (and utterly enjoyable) romantic moments, some fabulous character evolution, and lots and lots of dark mystery, intrigue, suspense and action.

I absolutely cannot wait for the final book of the series to see how Stacey wraps it all up. FROSTBITE is incredible, and I still completely stand by my suggestion that everyone should read this! it's not just a paranormal romance. It's not just a romantic suspense. It's not just a ghost story.... it's all of the above and more, and each and every book of the saga will make you want to call in sick to work to finish reading them. ;-)

LITERAL ADDICTION gives Mystically Bound 4 Skulls and hopes that you will all check out it and its predecessors ASAP.

I loved this book! I've been on pins and needles for Tess and Kipp's story to continue! I couldn't put it down and there were definetly a couple of surprises in the book for me but we got to see Kipp again! Yay! I'm not sure about the Animus though, they seem really snooty and elitist to me. I don't really trust them but I cheered when Tess managed to kick Dane in the balls again! Lol! She learned more about her abilities in this book and I'm curious about Nettie, I hope she gets to talk to Nettie and I wonder about her headaches as well.
I liked Alexander's character and I did like Amelia's but towards the end I was a bit suspicious of her but whether those suspicions are well founded or not will have to wait as I won't know til the fourth and final book. Plus to be honest, with the exception of Alexander and Gretchen I'm pretty much suspicious of everyone in that house!
I'm also thinking that Tess maybe should have listened to Sammy the ghost and I'm wondering if he's really called Sammy because of the surprise reveal right at the end of the book! Guess we'll find out in the next book and I know it should only be about a month away but gah! I want the next book now!
I really hope that in the next book Tess manages to get Kipp the help he needs to return to his body so they can be together properly in the real world. In this book they got a taste of what that would be like and I think it's made it even harder to go back to not being able to touch again cause she can't risk going back to the place where she was able to touch Kipp and have him hold her. It honestly broke my heart when she seen him in the living world again and wanted badly to touch him and have him hold her but couldn't.
The next book can't come soon enough! I could say a lot more on the book but I'm trying not to give any big spoilers or details so I don't ruin it for anyone that hasn't read this book yet but honestly if you haven't picked up this book or series yet, you need to!

Full Review: http://www.twimom227.com/2013/02/revi...

Mystically Bound, the third foray into Ms. Kennedy’s Frostbite series, is the strongest story and my favorite to date. Tess has come along way since we first met her in Supernaturally Kissed. She has learned to accept her “gift” of communicating with the deceased and has gained confidence in herself from her recent experiences. Having developed a close-knit bond with Kipp’s police force partners, she’s learned to trust in others as well. She's become strong but remains caring. She stands up for herself without turning a blind eye to those that need help. She's still Tess but with an extra coating of toughness now. The growth of her character helps to create a better story.

The mystery of who killed Alexander is intriguing. Although Tess has no emotional investment in helping Alexander, I found myself drawn to his plight and wanting her to help. However, it’s not the walk in the park that previous mysteries have been for Tess. Alexander is not a normal ghost, and he cannot talk to Tess because magic was used in his death. This creates unique situations for Tess - and some down right fun as Alexander attempts to use charades to communicate.

Overall, Mystically Bound is an outstanding, entertaining story! The book is well written with compelling and cohesive story lines. The mystery of what happened to Alexander is fascinating, especially since it appears to be tied to Tess and Kipp. With everything that has occurred thus far, this mystery appears to be multifaceted and complex. I wish I had more now but honestly, I am good with the cliffhanger ending, especially knowing the rest is coming soon.

What a build up! I want to rant and rave at the same time. But really my only rant is about the last installment and I want it now. Mystically Bound totally set the stage for the final book and I am so excited it for it!

In the beginning I was like I want Kipp back and I want him now. But when he did enter the scene, man did he enter and enter it good. ;) Tess learns she has even more tricks up her sleeve and this totally helped us get some good ol' Kipp action. I won't tell you exactly what that is but you should know that it is good and something we've all been waiting for. But by no means is their ghost and non-dead relationship much better. Just read it and see what I mean.

On top of Tess losing Kipp she is now backed into a corner helping people she doesn't trust just to try and get some answers. But her friends in Memphis aren't going to let her face this alone especially if there is a killer in the house she is staying in. They come to her and its just so sweet to see how much they have all grown to care about each other.

I can't wait for the last book. I need it now. Mystically Bound has gotten me even more excited with how its all going to end. Seriously this book was just a major build up. I am glad it was split into 2 books so we can get the full effect. I can't even imagine what Stacey has in store for us but I know its going to be awesome. She always throws in some crazy surprises and I love her for it. And despite all the obstacles standing in Tess and Kipp's way I just know they will eventually get their happily ever after. If you haven't checked out The Frostbite series then you really need to.

Do not read the review to this book if you don’t want spoilers for the previous books. This review is free of spoilers from Mystically Bound only. This is a series that has to be read in order. It simply cannot work any other way.

I have to admit I spent the majority of the time reading this book with the thoughts of “Get on with it already” screaming through my head. This is not a bad thing with this tale though. It wasn’t a dragging feeling. Readers learn in Demonically Tempted that Kipp is not dead. He is in fact in a hospital in a coma. So this can only be going in one direction. This man needs to get back in his body. We want a corporal, healthy Kipp. Stacey has created a series that is built around an insane anticipation factor.

My heart truly goes out to Tess. This girl just wants a normal life. She is plagued by ghosts needing her assistance, demons that need to go back where they came from, and skeptical people who assume she is crazy. She has found a group of people similar to her. These fellow gifted individuals also know of spirits and magic and the other. They possibly have the answers to her problems. They use the possibility of this knowledge to force Tess into assisting them with their own mess.

To say I am impatiently waiting for Eternally Devoted would be the understatement of the year. It’s for several reasons though. Kipp and Tess are the obvious reason. The murder mystery created in Mystically Bound is the other. There are many secrets at the Animus house. Everyone there also seems to be either hiding something from Tess or they are doing things for completely selfish reasons. Tess just can’t seem to catch a break.

Arrgh! Cliff Hanger!

I was so into this book, it was amazing. The best book in the series so far. I was completely thrown by the cliff hanger; I knew it but didn’t know it was specifically that. Sorry, but I wouldn’t want to spoil it.

Tess has to stand on her own and make some serious decisions regarding trusting the people of Animus, she extremely suspicious of all of them. She is however learning about her gifts and how they work. Tess still has many questions. I really like her character. Tess has much more courage that she thinks she does and I really like her sense of humor.

Kipp is extremely in love with Tess. I like Kipp, he is protective, funny, smart and a great judge of character. He is exactly the person that Tess needs. I find their trust refreshing, and I am mesmerized by their love, respect and attraction to each other.

The supporting characters are also great. I find myself swept up in their lives. I am so looking for a happy ending for them.

This is the first series that I have read from Stacey Kennedy, I like her writing style. Her characters are witting and realistic. She is a great story teller. I would definitely say her writing has high blush potential.

I highly recommend this series. The books just get better and better. I can’t wait for Eternally Devoted, which is due out in March of 2013.

I love the characters in the Frostbite series and this time around we meet a few more characters and the plot is totally thickened. We thought we knew what was going on in book 2 (Demonically Tempted), but as it turns out there were a few things we didn't know. The things we find out here even twist and turn through this read. Stacey has a way with exploding a theory wide open and still leaving tons of things to figure out. It's so much fun.

There's a lot going on in this book, a new mystery, a love story, loads of conflict and even an OMG moment. No, she's not really suggesting that, oh my, she is moment. I'm not giving any spoilers here, I'm just going to say you need to read this book.

Here's one of my favorite lines in the book: My desire to see him as a living-breathing man held more strength than my desire to touch him again...for now.

Book 3 does end with a cliff hanger and I can not wait for book 4.

I received a copy of this book in exchange for an honest and fair review.

I am anxiously waiting to find out what happens in the final installment.  Stacey did a great job in "Mystically Bound" and built it up to the cliffhanger at the end. I am sad to know that the next book is the last.  I love the characters Tess and Kipp...but I know Tess and Kipp need to have some happiness eventually...at least there better be happiness in the next book. Tess deserves some happiness, Stacey.  I'm just saying. Tess has been put through it all. I have several questions after reading this book not only because of the cliffhanger but because of certain characters. If you are a fan of Stacey Kennedy, definitely check out this book and if you have not read this series yet, you are missing out. I give this book 4 full moons and highly recommend this book to urban fantasy and paranormal romance readers out there.

More good stuff from Stacey Kennedy.

What can I say? I love this series. I picked up the first book last year, loved it, grabbed the second…and then there was this HUGE cliffhanger and I had to wait almost a whole year (or at least it felt that way) for this one. Thank God the final book is out in a month or so.

Yes, there is a cliffhanger in this one (but not such a big one), and there is a reunion (kinda…sorta…yeah, there is…oh just read it already!). I really like all the characters – well, except for Dane and maybe not so much any more. Tess is awesome. Her sense of humor is great. Caley? Do NOT ever cross that woman – oh, hell no. Kipp is transparent, but he’s supposed to be. And Gretchen is a witch. Really, she is.

Another great addition to my Kindle.

This third installment was a bit difficult to get into. Tess is looking for Kipp, who has disappeared and she knows he is not a ghost in the 'dead' sense of the word. Together with Gretchen she has travelled to meet a group of people with great powers, people like her. They tell her that their leader, Alexander, has been killed and they need Tess to find out who killed him. In exchange, Tess will be provided with a spell to connect Kipp's body with his spirit.

Tess is exceptionally whiney and annoying in this book. She constantly snaps at people and ghosts. I started to really dislike her!

Kipp is my favorite and hardly in this book but when he is, WOW.

The story ends with a shocker so it is on to book #4 to read the conclusion.

The book wasn't at all what I expected. After a couple of hints left by the author, I fully expected some sort of resolution, not more questions and intrigue. In that regard, I felt a bit cheated and little lied to. Even so, the book turned out rather good and much spookier, however entirely too short once again. Since the next book promises to be the last, I assume a resolve will finally be delivered. These books are short enough that they could have been grouped into twos. Maybe that way, the author could have completely avoided disappointing a majority of her fans.

The Final book, Eternally Devoted, is set for a Mar 2013 release.
