His brother is human, the thing he hates. He watches as the brother he knew is stripped away by his love for Clara. He's never hated someone as much as he hated her...but the bond forced him to not only want to protect her, but feel things he never had before.
When a girl needs his help, that split second decision changes his whole world in one instant.

Enoch's story!! I'm so excited! Once I finished Consume, I just couldn't NOT write about Enoch. We will definitely see Eli and Clara though, and some others that you may have questioned where they were. I can't wait to finish my other projects to start this. Enoch was so bad....but in such a good way ;)
I hope you will be surprised with who his love interest will be. I am ecstatic! It will be a long road for Enoch to push through the evil, but one that could be beautiful.
I've read every one of Shelly Crane’s books and without a doubt her Devour series has been my favorite. Perhaps it’s because Devour was the first taste of Shelly’s mind that I had the pleasure of devouring (pun intended!) . I adored the edge, the world building. The series dances near the dark side, but clings to the innocents that Shelly Crane is known for. It also grasps that sweet romance, the kind of romance that is heated by the heart and not the flesh. That being said I have to say that Altered rocked my world! The entire time I was reading Consume I kept grinning each time Enoch said or did something wishing I could dance in that boys mind for a moment – and with Altered that chance not only came – it was well worth the wait!
We all love the bad guy, we all love watching him reach a crossroad that makes him question who he is, why he is the way he is. Enoch makes no bones about the evil within him – he’s blunt and to the point with every notion that crosses his path. What I loved about him is that even though he found his place, found someone to see past each and every one of his transgressions he remained who he was. In turn the lesson taught is that you do not have to change who you are to find the one meant for you, you just have to accept them when they dare you to not look away.
Fay is recently discharged from the military and now off in search of her sister, Clara. But when things start going increasingly wrong her first night on the road, she imagines the worst. This may be it for her. She may never see her sister again and be able to right her wrongs. But Enoch wobbles in and saves the day and vows to help her find her sister. During the road trip Fay is introduced to a whole new world while Enoch tries unsuccessfully to prove he is a bad guy and Fay should stay far, far away. It seems Enoch may have finally found his match.
I love me a good Shelly Crane book. But I love me a fabulous Shelly Crane book even more. But really...all her books are fabulous. And Enoch just moved up high on my book boyfriend list. He has taken a seat up there and is in good company with quite a few other Crane Men. How does she do it? She makes them absolutely irresistible. Delicious even.
It has been some time since I read CONSUME where we last saw everyone. And I honestly cannot for the life of me remember what I thought about Enoch. And that is probably a good thing. If I hated him, I like not knowing. Because it was like I was able to start anew in ALTERED with him. I liked the side we get to see of him in this one. He is charming and real and absolutely stole the spotlight out from under Eli in DEVOUR and CONSUME. Yep, I said it. Sorry Eli!
** “Fay,” he begged. “I’m trying to be the good guy.” “You’re trying to be the villain,” I said harder. “You’re trying to show me that you’re not a good guy and never will be. But that’s not true. A good guy saved me that day, twice, a good guy brought me here and took care of me ever since. A good guy didn’t try to kiss me or take advantage of all the alone time we had in those hotels and on the road and when we got here. A good guy took all the hits that people threw at him and let it roll off his back to save me.” I moved the last inch, wrapping my arm around his neck, and let everything I felt come to the surface. All the hours of tension and want. I knew when he registered it by the breath he sucked in. His tongue tasted his lower lip, but he didn’t look happy about it. “Fay.” **
Enoch absolutely stole my heart and devoured it (pun absolutely intended). He is changing and as much as he doesn't like it at first, it is happening. And things really change for him when he happens upon Fay. This human girl frustrates him to no end. But there is also something about her that draws him in. He would love to be able to just walk away from her, but he can't. The Horde is after her for some reason and he wants to find out why.
** It was the first time I could remember ever wanting to be something else. I would have given anything to be good in that moment, to be someone worthy of her. I let myself have this small piece of time that would flit away into the nothingness when we reached her sister and Clara told her who I really was. Once she heard it from her sister’s mouth, she wouldn’t deny it any longer. She’d hate me then as Clara does. But for this moment, I just wanted to pretend that I could be what she needed. I took her face in my hands, knowing they were too rough against her soft skin. **
ALTERED is a fabulous read and I found once it came to an end, I was so very sad. I would love to read a hundred more books about Enoch, Fay, Clara, Eli and their world! But as they say...all good things must come to an end. 5 Swoon Worthy Romantic Stars!
I loved the first two devoured books. They may very well be my favorite Shelly Crane books, and I have read all her books. But this book fell short. It lacked almost everything that made the other two books so great. I was really looking forward to this book. It just fell short.
This might be favorite of the Devoured series. Enoch you know Eli twins the one with the bad attitude and the complete jerk. I loved seeing karma pay him back for all the things he did to his brother and Clara. Plus I also enjoyed the alternating POV. I'm pretty sure we all felt the same about Enoch but maybe deep down, we all knew there was more to him. I will admit that enjoyed watching him suffer even though he said he didn't have actual feelings of his own. You could tell that wasn't true this was just some pay back for all the hatred he had for Eli and Clara. I know it's a awful thing to say. I mean he did win me over in the end so that counts for something. Overall this book was full of humor, action, and of course romance and I was here for all of it. I'm kind sad that it's over.
This entire series is great! I had recieved a signed copy of Devour (the very first book) and read it in one day! It sucked me in and I just couldn't stop. There are a few grammatical errors but that didn't stop the book from being amazing! The story line flows. Everything from the very beginning, to the climax, to the end just keeps you on your toes! It's a very hard book to put down and you think about it all the time. It's like if you don't keep reading you might miss something or the story will go on without you! I loved being sucked into the Devourer world and didn't want to leave! Cannot wait for more!!!
good continuation but i really hoped for a better conclusion the horde? witches council? what about the war? lots of opennings to continue this story i hope she does
Another great read from the Devoured series! Every book in this series is absolutely impossible to put down once you start reading. I read all three books in two and a half days. I will definitely be reading this series over and over again.
I re-read Devour and Consume prior to reading Altered, and I was really glad I did. This was such a great world to get wrapped up in all over again. I got to watch Eli and Clara fall in love all over again. I also got to revisit all the issues that Enoch had with Eli and Clara's relationship. Going into Altered, I found this really helpful. I also got to see how Crane has grown as a writer, as each book has gotten progressively better. With that said, you don't have to re-read Devour and Consume prior to reading Altered. You will be caught up enough with the newest book.
Now Altered itself was great! It was full of action, with twists and turns, and not a dull moment. From the start we get to see what Enoch has been going through since the end of Consume. And it has not been easy. Fay has been dealing with a hefty load of troubles of her own. Then the two meet by fate and the craziness ensues. I loved following along with Enoch and Fay. I loved all the ways we got to know them - the good, the bad, and the ugly. Their histories are not pretty, but together they can find a way to heal and move forward. And both Enoch and Fay were fully redeemed in my eyes.
Along with great character growth, we also have an exciting plot, following over from the ending of Consume. Remember the rebels? Yeah, there's some great stuff happening with them. Now, to be honest, Clara was getting on my last nerve at times. Girlfriend had some issues. Fortunately those issues were eventually addressed. But, seeing Eli and Clara together again was still a plus to this story. And I was completely satisfied with how this book ended (although, like any well-respected book addict, I would always welcome more stories in this world and with these characters.)
Overall, I loved this story. Not only do we get the continuing story of the Devoured world, but we get another sweet love story, which Shelly Crane does so well, adding Enoch and Fay as another one of my favorite couples. Along with the sweetness and the love, we get forgiveness and redemption. And all of this comes in an exciting, page-turning package.
This was by far, my favorite book in this series. This book focuses on Enoch and Fay and is told from alternating POVs. I seriously disliked Enoch most of the time in the first two books but I knew that deep down, there was more to him. This is his story and boy, what a great one it is! This series reminds me of Shelly's Wide Awake series because the last book focuses on the brother of the hero in the first two books. In both cases, I like the 3rd book the most. <3 I am so glad that Enoch got his HEA. I do have to admit....I still feel like he got the short end of the stick. Eli is human and will live a human life with Clara. Fay is human and will only live as long as a normal human will live. Enoch will have to watch everyone he loves grow old and die. I can totally see him taking himself out with a goblin's tooth when this happens... and that makes me sad. I would have also loved for the rebels to take down the Horde in the end. I still loved this book and it's definitely a series I would recommend. <3
Wow!! Remember Eli’s brother from Devour? You know the really dark, brooding, hot one with the really bad attitude? The total and complete jerk? Yep, that’s him. He’s back. But now it’s time for Karma to start paying him back for being such an asshat to his brother and Clara. All it takes is one move to help a girl and everything he was so sure about is shot to hell. I can’t even begin to tell you how much I enjoyed watching him suffer through having some actual feelings of his own after all his hatred for Clara and Eli. But somehow, someway, he managed to win me over. There’s nothing like a completely evil, bad boy that has just a tiny bit of good inside waiting for a way out. And come on, he’s always been the kind of guy that even though you wanna jab him in the eye with a fork for being so rude and annoying, he’s still totally dark and sexy. So to sum it up – I LOVED IT!!!
Wow, I wasn't sure about reading Enoch's story but it was my favourite. This story's starts off from just after the end of Eli and Clara's story. Enoch is going through lots of changes and he's trying hard to be different but it doesn't fall into place until he saves Fay, who just happens to be Clara's sister. They begin an easy friendship but are drawn to the other. Through lots of twists and turns we see them change together for the better but where will their future take them. This story is great, you get to see Enoch at his worse and at his best, but you also see what meeting Fay does for him and how she also heals as a result of meeting Enoch. The story and plot are great, original idea's which follow on from the previous books, the characters are great, lots of angst, sweet moments, and romance amongst the war that's brewing. Some grammatical errors but nothing changing my love of the story. Overall this book is a must read for paranormal and Shelly Crane lovers.
This was a hard book for me in that sometimes it was really good and other times it was really bad. Ethan, eli's twin from the first books is changing reluctantly. He completely does a character 180. And he falls for Clara's older sister who was dishonourably discharged from the military. So I expected badass from the start. Eh??? No. She cries a lot in this book and finally gets some at the end. Unfortunately by then I had had enough of her. Throughout the book Ethan talks about her eyes which are blue then green then back to blue again. He calls her blue eyes, princess and love which is Eli's endearment for Clara in the first and jus sounded weird. Clara who you liked in the first book became a little b**** in this book and acted like a spoiled princess while Rli tan about at the back of her. It jus seemed all over the place. Sorry :(
This is another amazing book by Shelly Crane. Altered is the third book in this series. In this story we fine out more about Enoch and Fay, Clare's sister. From the beginning to the end, you have not stop action. The things that happen to Enoch and Fay will keep you guessing until the end, what will happen to them next. We even get to see more of Clare and Eli and all of the rebel gang in this book also. Just when things start to settle down, more things start to happen that will keep you reading this book until the end. This is a awesome paranormal series like no other story and it's unique storyline makes you want more even when you are finished. I read this book in one afternoon because I had to finish it. Loved it!!
As is the case with most of what Shelly Crane writes, I loved this book. Enoch is one of those guys that is trying so hard to be bad but just can't do it once he finds "the one". I enjoyed his perspective for half of the book.
Fay is also an interesting character and learning more about her was good especially given that she didn't seem very kind and caring in the first two books that focused on her sister, Clara.
I want to read more about the characters in this world and see what happens next for the rebels but I think Crane is finished with this series.
Finally!! I loved the first two books in this series, I hated to see them end. However I was beyond thrilled that Shelly wrote this book.
I love a good bad guy, especially one that makes your heart cry out to fix them. Enoch is that yummy bad guy for me. I loved watching him grow and change into the man Fay (and I) knew he could be. And wasn't Fay such a huge surprise?!? I loved her and what she brought to the table. This book was full of humor, romance, and action. Loved it!
Shelly Crane does no wrong and this book is more proof of that. Who can take a big bad devourer and make him swoon worthy...Shelly Crane! I loved this series and this book was no exception. Enoch is the bad guy all us women really want. Fay is a tough but tender hearted woman. Put that together and you have an absolutely beautiful love story plus all the action I've come to love from Shelly's books.
I enjoy all of Shelly Crane's books. I like the dialogue between the characters and their relationships whether they are supernatural or not. Altered is the third book in the Devoured series; we met Enoch in Eli and Clara's story. He is Elijah's twin brother who doesn't have any love for any humans; even hates Clara for stealing Eli from him and turning him Human. He meets Fay who is Clara's sister. He wants nothing to do with her but is drawn to her.
UGHHHH!! Fey was so annoying and IMPOSSIBLE to tolerate! I couldnt stand how she blamed Clara for her problems and only found her because she had no where else to go! She acted like she was so much better than Clara and knew more when she didnt know jack!! ANNOYING! She ruined the ENTIRE book for me! Everything else was okay. I enjoyed getting Enoch's perspective(dont know how he could fall for someone like fey) and getting more of Clara and Eli (they are so precious!)
I wanted to hate this... but I totally love this... I was so mad that the story was being moved from Clara to Enoch... but oh how I adored it. Enoch hates Clara, hates humans in general... but he really hates Clara for taking his brother away.. since the union of Clara and Eli, life has been different for him, he's trying to fight it.. he loves being a devourer, but he just might find he can love a human even more.
Loved the story of Enoch and Fay. I feel like this series needed more though. It was mostly about the love and feelings and connections the two couples had rather than focusing on the whole story. There is so much story and action that could of been written into these books. I am kinda sad to say goodbye to these characters when their world was so intriguing. Also I've noticed her books have a lot of spelling and grammar problems. Overall a great read though and would definitely suggest it.
I had read the other two earlier, and decided to finish the series. Overall, it wasn't bad, but it became a bit too repetitive with Enoch constantly in turmoil over who he is. I enjoyed having Enoch and Fay's story and seeing old characters, plus meeting new, along with having the series complete. It wasn't the worst that I read, but it wasn't my favorite of hers either.
I thought that the continuation of the story was fantastic. it was cool to see how much the characters have grown from the other books. The end of the book though doesn't really feel like the ending, like there could be more to the story, or not. good overall story.
I have never read Shelly Crane beforetoday but I will say she is going to be one of my favorite authors now! Altered was fabulous! I really enjoyed reading this book! It was well written and it kept me interested in reading it in every page! I loved Enoch and Fay she made these characters very fun to read! I hope you enjoy this book as much as I did.
I didn't realize this book was about Enoch. It was basically reading the same story over again. I don't know that I would have read it if I had read the description before I bought it. As I said in my other reviews of the other books if you liked Twilight this is a cheesier option. That being said I did read it quickly and enjoyed it like the others
Enoch was a bad guy turned good. All because of his little human. Fay was just trying to get to her sister but she met trouble at every turn. Enoch knew he was changing but didn't know if it was right or if anyone else would accept it. Thankfully Fay believed enough for the both of them.
I just love Shelly Crane. Her books are nice and light and original. This wasnt my favorite but it was good. She really should continue on with this series but apparently its over. Keep writing, anything youve got will be read!
This book was the best one of a 3 I loved there story and and see him get to change who and what he is for love was cool I loved the ending it told whAt was going a year later so I loved this book
I was worried I wouldn't like this book as much as Eli's story, but lucky it was just as good if not better. Enoch is the opposite of Eli. Though I may like Enoch a little bit more because he's got that bad boy bit down. Loved the book.
