The fighting skills of the shadow warrior - the ninja - made them feared throughout Japan. But the wise man had greater fear for their bloodless methods of domination, which the ninja mind masters preferred to crude physical violence. Ninja broke through their enemies' mental defenses using direct attack or stealth, comparing such operations to invading an enemy fortress.
In this guided tour through the mysterious realm of the ninja, martial arts experts Dr. Haha Lung and Christopher B. Prowant reveal the secrets that will allow you to tell when someone is lying to you, implant false memories, tailor your attack by using the specific keys to each individual's mind, use verbal patterns and body language to earn your foe's utter trust, interrogate using unbeatable psychological methods and much more. You will also learn the terrifying truth behind modern mind-control, propaganda and brainwashing techniques used by cults (and our own government), as well as take a look ahead to the future of mass mind control.
The title says it all. Combining divination with an inherently murderous fighting art will leave you demon-possessed for sure. Avoid if you care for your soul. Is learning a fighting art really worth being possessed?
in my opinion this book contains many useful information that focus on mind control/manipulation. It's shocked me how people are controlled and manipulated easily. Knowledge is a weapon, you can use it to protect yourself.
So I found this book in my creepy ass basement. Real fucky book but a fun read. This book is about using the enemy's mind against them so you can avoid physical altercations altogether.
The first half of the book is about pseudo-science indicators that determine a person’s personality, and how to manipulate it. This part is fucky, talks about birth signs, hair color, sibling count, and random benign shit. Then they talk about Japanese social graces. This part does not translate well for English interpretation.
The second half is where it picks up. They start giving A TON of practical techniques to manipulate people’s opinion. How to feign surprises to lower defense, how to spot liars, and how to increase 6th sense awareness. This last technique is created by sharpening your 5 senses. You routinely mentally describe your 5 senses and over time you gain heightened awareness. I have had some success with using these techniques.
All in all, a great read. It clears up any misconceptions about ninja culture. I thought they were cutthroat assassins. While they retain that, they mostly use disguise and deception to defeat their enemies.
This book alternates hard between crackpot pseudoscience/history and real, practical psychological insights. I rather laboured through this read since I felt an instinctive need to fact-check just about everything, and honestly there were times I wondered if I was reading a book on mind manipulation or if the book was manipulating my mind. Some of the presentation (spelling errors, unironic and repeated use of “mind slayers”, etc.) was cheesy and vaguely annoying, while much of the advice was common sense. It did leave me rather paranoid though, and I do feel just a bit more aware of the distortion and manipulation going on around me. All in all, I would give it just one star for its lunacy and poor pacing (Chapter 5 increases the tempo and often comes across as confused) but a second star is duly given for its earnestness and occasional insights.
I certainly went into ALL the various methods of mind manipulation. I was also hoping for some preventative methods but that wasn't included. I left one feeling rather paranoid.
This book provided a keen insight into the power of the mind - or power people perceive the mind to have.
At it's core, it directly shows you how to "read" people. Thus, by having that insight into another person's personality, it outlines many ways you can attack them through various mental manipulations - should that be your goal.
However, it's not a devious book suggesting such actions. It also advocates many times that reviewing this information will allow you to defend yourself against the mental manipulations of others. It brings to light tricks that have been used on people for centuries and offers awareness in place of victimization.
It also details various aspects of hypnosis.
What a truly fascinating, important and educational book.
The books I read as i clean off my shelves... This one really should be renamed 'mind manipulation lite: the cliff notes version'. It had some good stories to tell, but really this is not going to teach you anything. Except now i know that it really WAS a panhandler that I ran into last year telling me a flock of lies on a street corner.... and to not pick up anything somebody drops in front of you because they might kick you in the head and then steal your wallet... This is not the book if you are seriously wanting to be ninjalike, and i'm not quite certain why i had a copy of it in the first place either since that is the last thing ever to appear on my bucket list.
A decent overview of manipulation tactics and some insights into human behavior and motives (not often far off from common sense and conjecture). I wouldn't really call it scholarly and some of the redundant uses of words like "mind-slayer" and "Madison Avenue" get a little annoying. Some of the historical anecdotes are questionable and it's difficult to tell who the intended audience of this book was. The way the author speaks to them makes them seem very sadistic. Overall it was a straightforward and simple read.
Right now i dont like this book but i got it for science so i can get a good grad in there. But i am going to try to finish reading this book so i no what it is about. i no right now it is about Black Science i no that is the title but it is about that and this book is not really about science it is about a person and that is all i noo right now.
Essential reading for understanding the methods of mind control as well as a few tidbits on Ninja history. Great to read along with "What to say when you talk to yourself" (Shad Helmstetter) for two diverse perspectives on how the subconscious mind effects human behavior.
It was a good book. It showed you how to protect you from people trying to mess with your mind. It showed you cool horoscope type things that were pretty true.
