This encyclopaedia of science contains more than 140 experiments and a complete A-to-Z dictionary explaining over 2750 scientific words. Links are given to related Web sites throughout, containing free downloadable images and information.
Естествено, след първата „Детска енциклопедия“, втората предизвика не по-малък интерес към тайните и неизследвани до този момент за един малчуган дебри на науката.
Hands down, this is one of the most informative and comprehensive science encyclopedias I've read for elementary age students. The illustrations are also detailed, informative, and engaging. I recommend the hardcover version of this book often (the softcover is quite thick and will fall apart with frequent use).
Pro mě naprosto osudová kniha. Asi nevyvolala moji lásku k technice, ale určitě ji prohloubila. Troufám si tvrdit, že poznatky mi vystačily až na střední školu. Listoval jsem v ní celou základku. Snad poslouží i mým dětem. Řekl bych, že jim má stále co říct (byť některé věci budou dnes chybět a jiné zase přebývat).
This book was used for my 6th grader’s homeschool curriculum. The pages were almost too busy with text and illustrations, but they did keep the interest of my kiddo. Some minor details were misleading, but I’d say 95% of the information was spot on. The little experiments sprinkled throughout were very easy and quick - which I loved and so did my kid.
I absolutely love and recommend this science book! It has SO many options unlike any of the other science books I've read. This one has all kinds of science definitions in the back of the book and thurly explains all the information. Trust me, this book is a life saver. It saved me from so many tests. And it also has little activities in the book to show you how it works and little QR code's that help you look online with stuff. It's mostly for 7th grade through highschool. Overall it's a great book.
This book is cool, but is also hard to use as a reference. Even so, we pulled it out to supplement our science learning. Like all the Usborne books, it is great to look at and to engage the child’s imagination in learning.
I read this non-fiction book aloud to my children.
This book covers a lot of ground, including: Energy, physics, light, sound, atoms, and electricity. Due to the nature of the topics, there is a lot of information presented on each page. I personally would have preferred a little less information so that the pages did not look so "busy."
The book was published in 1997, so I had to laugh at the section on "Records and Tapes." My kids pointed to the record player and cassette tapes and asked what they were! The book could really stand some updating in the technology section.
One thing that my kids loved were the science experiments, which were simple to do and a lot of fun! I love that the book incorporated some "hands-on" things to bring further understanding to the topics.
The book covers more mature topics that the other Usborne books that we have been reading, so the depth of information is a bit more complex. We still really enjoyed it, although it wasn't our favourite Usborne science book.
The Science Encyclopedia is a book that simplifies scientific information down so that it is able to be understood by kids. It also has 1,000 websites within the book so that kids are able to visit the website in case they want to learn more information about a topic. The topics range from energy all the way to medicine and genetics and gives information and examples of things so that kids are able to understand and become intrigued. I read this book as I was growing up and it taught me a lot of cool facts about many things. It has information on things ranging from dirt all the way to the universe. In the classroom, I could use this for science class and use it to teach about some of the subjects that are in the book. I would also make sure to keep it in my classroom for any student who is interested about a certain subject in science so that they have access to it whenever they want it.
I've learned so much about science from this Encyclopedia and truly appreciate how easy it is to learn information about many cool science concepts and things describing the world around us. All I have to do is read a couple pages and I could've learned a week's worth lesson of science from school. Very useful, convenient and informational! I definitely recommend this Encyclopedia for anyone interested in knowledge of the contents of our world, science, or just if you want to learn new things.
Explains the basic physics and chemistry concepts behind everyday life, such as why the sky is blue, how computers work, and what gravity is. It is filled with colorful cartoons and fun, simple quizzes and experiments that make science interesting for young children.
Really thorough encyclopedia. Love the ease of quicklinks.com where you simply type in your page number to have access to a number of related internet links.
