My very favorite "artist's book". A unique work of creativity; a landmark in the field of "bookbinding as art form". It has fortunately been reproduced for mass market readership. If you own a copy it is definitely something to "keep out" on display. I hope that the original is safely housed in a museum of modern art somewhere; for that is what this incredible feat of the imagination and craftsmanship deserves.

Egyptian imagery. Glyptoglossia. Cryptic. Wordless. Intriguing.

Beautiful original Ancient Egyptian imagery.

Quotes:

"Flight Into Egypt, Binding the Book is a reproduction of a one-of-a-kind painted book ... "

"The original ... includes bits of papyrus and pigments ground from flint that was gathered near the site of the Great Pyramid at Giza."

Simply one of the best books of its kind, if it can indeed be said to have a kind, I have ever seen. It is beautiful, it is cryptic, it is impenetrable, it is thick with recognizable patterns and invited meanings. Books can be art, and maps and doodles and geometry can all be beautiful constituents of an artful book.
