I recommend to read this book before starting The Brief History of Time by Stephen Hawking because each concept is explained easily with an example.

After finishing you will have some idea about quantum mechanics and relativity but it is enough to make start wondering the difference that exist between the two extremes of the world we live in and what will be the theory that unites both.

One particular concept which felt is proof of some higher power is "Quantum Entanglement".

Finally this book is Just exactly what the cover says "Popular science for the general reader with little or no background in physics".

*I was given this free review copy audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this review.*

Book: 4.5
Narrator: 2.5

I absolutely loved how easily understandable quantum mechanics are made in this book.
This is a non-fiction that brings a regularly hard topic to the general public. It uses examples from daily life to do so and achieves its goal masterfully, even using some nice jokes.
However, I'd love to buy a physical copy of this one.
The narrator doesn't make it easy to understand. He doesn't tell you the stoy as if it was his or he was talking to you, making you have to make a bigger effort to engage. He doesn't keep a steady speed, sometimes (too often) he's reading and has doubts, which kicks you out of the topic given is pauses. It is obsiously much more evident when you listen at a higher speed.

i chose this book to read by looking at the title and the tag line the author had mentioned(popular science for the general reader with little or no background in physics).the author is successful in making the concepts comprehensible though not clear(its the handicap of the reader if the reader doesn't hail from the domain of physics).the analogy that he puts in the places to drive the concepts in to the intellect of the reader will marvel the reader.the author has intended to make even the layman understand what physics is all about but i would like to mention that to understand this book the reader should at least have a basic idea of what elementary particles are and stuffs related to it.the best of this book is when you put it down after the read, your brain will want to know more.the author has undoubtedly succeeded in breaking down the complex theories of science that had been elusive and difficult to comprehend.
it becomes needless to mention that this book would cause disinterest in putting it down before it is completely devoured.

The journey of science is a multifaceted journey and one that requires tremendous effort to comprehend, particularly for those who do not venture far with it professionally. The Speed of Time by Sharad Nalawade is an inventive and remarkably simple book that helps demystify the complexities of science in the easiest way possible. The book provides great insights into the depths of nature and robustly captures the very essence and indomitable spirit of science. The contents have been ingeniously designed to reveal unique elements that help in the reasoning of complex science-related issues. It is replete with some humorous examples to help understand how science and scientists work. The author’s grasp of the subject is clear as he steers you through the various concepts of scientific facts.

The book keeps its promise and appeals to the intellect of any general reader with or without a background in Science. It is very lucidly written and covers a very broad range of subjects right from quantum theory of sub-atomic particles to the relativity theory of infinite galaxies in the universe. Through the book, the reader keeps getting amazed at simultaneously seeing the weirdness, randomness and order observed in the workings of nature. In spite of being a Science graduate, I appreciated many new things which I read in this book and enjoyed reading the entire book. The best thing about the book is that it raises a curiosity in the mind of the reader for further reading on esoteric theories of physics and its relation to various natural phenomena. A good read.

A great introduction to the key concepts of physics. Sharad Nalawade explains the core of physics, from Einstein's famous theory of relativity to quantum entanglement. The great hunt for the theory of everything to link everything together is amazingly well-explained in the most layman terms possible, with no jargon. However, the book gets slightly repetitive and often reiterates the point as if we are truly kindergartners (for some reason trying to learn about quantum mechanics) and while supposedly a text that simply states facts, the obvious biasness in some of the articles are shown clearly as some theories are favoured to be explained in much more depth than others, while not explaining the pros and cons of each. Great analogies to explain the complicated mechanics of the universe.

I was totally gripped while reading this book. This book provides a true insight to some of the most important, puzzling and highly debated upon topics of science today. Written in a lay man's language, this book is easy to read, understand and this really enhances the overall experience - making the read more interesting while also maintaining momentum. The book focuses on some amazing topics like entanglement, consciousness, time and related topics of quantum mechanics. All-in-all. this book was a fabulous, rather, a fantabulous read for me and I recommend it all as it can really hype your interest in science and make you wonder about the small things happening around you.

When you read some headlines in the Science section of google news, and that little part in you wonder, if you could have the same enthusiasm and curiosity in science that you had as a kid, well, this book will take you back to that.

The book is very well written for anyone with a hint of interest in science.
It covers major fields, and gives an introduction to what is going on in science, and leaving you to pick any one such topic and explore.

I would recommend this book, if you were that kind of a kid, and got lost somewhere while growing up to this world.

This was my first time reading a science book written for a general reader and I am glad I read this.
'The Speed of time' explains the most complex theories of science in the most simplest way possible.
After reading this book, you would truly appreciate and admire the intricacies of nature and mankind's curiousness to discover the ultimate truth.

"What separates mind from matter? "
The Speed of Time presents some of the more fascinating and esoteric aspects of math and physics, from Einstein's relativity to quantum mechanics and string tbeory, in a way suitable for the job scientist to begin to grasp and, more importantly, wonder. Because this is a book designed to get people thinking. For the uninitkated, it is not an easy read but well worth it: so many wonders.

The contents have been checked for accuracy, apparently, so even some of the more exotic seeing observations should be reliable (although I was surprised to hear '21' being given as an example of a prime number). The narration by Doug Briggs is fine, if irritating, seemingly trying too hard to be.The friendly informant. However, overall, the book is there to give a taster for the layman of a very strange world of wonders within which we all live and mostly just accept.Sent

My thanks to the rights holder of The Speed of Time, who,at my request, freely gifted me with a complimentary copy. It has been the most accessible book of it's type that this uninitiated reader has been able to begin to understand. Highly recommended to anyone fascinated by the micro and macro rules of the universe around, and within, us all.

The cover of this book says that "Popular science for the general reader with little or no background in Physics". This book definitely lives up to that statement.

Author has did a great work in explaining such esoteric concepts like quantum entanglement, relativity, space-time frame, string theory and many other such concepts.

Diagrams are used at times to better illustrate the concept and they present a clear picture.

It is definitely worth a read for readers with an interest in Science. Of course your educational background doesn't matter here. What matters is your curiosity.

The author has really tried to make things simple for the reader and I appreciate this. However, the book feels disjointed with concepts strewn here and there. I was not able to see a logical thread running through. Could not really understand why the author had chosen to bundle two concepts together. At some places the author seems to be building up to some logical conclusion and then suddenly just abandons the topic and moves on to another without explanation.

Having said that, I did learn some interesting new facts about the universe and our physics.

This book feels like an excellent exploration for anyone and everyone. It delves deeply into concepts while narrating them as stories, which is quite engaging. I never wanted to put down the book. I hardly remember reading about Schrodinger's cat was so much fun!

This is the first particle physics pick I have read and is definitely a good read for a basic reader who is new to particle physics. Each chapter is well explained and is backed with enough explanation. The author's style, unlike text book writing, is not just to the point. It is as if you keep getting information based on whats going to come. A short one though, I would definitely consider reading it again.

Knowing nothing about space science and other stuff, I started reading this book. The way author explains the confusing topics - Relativity, Quantum Mech., etc. made me fall in love with Astrophysics to the extent that now I am even learning astrophysics on my own (as much as I can).
