The truth is, Oliver Babcock, a quiet accountant, was henpecked. His domineering wife made his life miserable. When a robbery turned to murder, it wasn't long before Oliver realized that his life was much more comfortable and pleasant. As the years went by in an uneventful retirement, Oliver started thinking that perhaps he should share this gift with other abused spouses.
I’ve read a dozen books by Doris Miles Disney. There are some good ones but this one was rather dull. It was mostly descriptions of the main character’s daily routine and his uninteresting interactions with family and neighbors. Eventually, he tries to murder strange women who resemble the wife he hates. But he goes about this so haphazardly that there isn’t much suspense.
