This was one of my favorite reads this year so far. One, Ireland (hello???!!!???!!) Two, heart warming romance!!! Easy to read. Fell head over heels in love along with the main characters~ Loved this book so much I am wanting to spread it across my reading circles~~~ Amazing read! Author really makes the characters come to life~~~ AWESOME!!!!!!! MUST READ!!!!
This was a cute Hallmark kind of story. An American businessman sailing his yacht ended up docking in Ireland for a business deal. When he arrived their was a Matchmaking Festival going on and Annie assumed he was registering for the event. He played it out until her realized he had feelings for the organizer(Annie), she was subbing in for her I’ll father.
When the feelings became mutual how was this relationship going to work with an ocean between them. Both had come from relationships where they were cheated on.
You've heard of online love sites, but none compare to being in the annual Durna Matchmaking Festival. Everyone from places far away come to the festival hoping to be matched to their soul mate. This year, though, it is up to Annie Devine to find the matches. Her father, Bull, is the matchmaker, but she doesn’t want to disappoint her father. Her main goal right now is not finding love for people but to win the Artisan chocolatier contest. This is the main thing she has been working hard all her life to accomplish. She doesn’t need a man like Jack Miller to distract her or making her rethink her goals. Her heart is not into the festival and the people don’t take her seriously, which for some reason hurts her more. Jack somehow has made people trust her, something that Annie knows will be gone once he’s gone. What started as a game has escalated to a love she has never known before in her life. Can she continue on the charade knowing that she has really fallen in love with her matched?
Jack Miller had no plan of finding love, but somehow he landed on the week of the biggest matchmaking festival. He never knew something like that went on or heard of a town called Durna. Somehow what started as a charade in helping Ms. Annie Devine has grown to something he is scared of happening. His assistant says he has a type, meaning blonde and bossy, something that is so opposite from Annie. She is beautiful, smart and ambitious, something that has been missing in his life. She denies the attraction but her passionate kisses say something else to him. He wasn’t looking for love but something about Durna speaks to him like no other town has done before. Can he just walk away from Annie? Can he pull her away from accomplishing her dreams?
It is a small town but one that has magic in the air. It is a magic that everyone comes for a whole week to find that special someone in their lives. The Durna Matchmaking Festival is the biggest, even of the season for Durna and one that Annie Devine hates. I loved that she has a legacy to fulfill but she has her own dreams she wants to finish. Now Jack Miller is a man who has many questions that are not answered and he’s searching for something. I loved Annie the most in the book for here is a woman who has a legacy of matchmaking, but she wants to find her own love. Together these two were great and definitely not your usual story line. I applaud Sally for making a magical story come to life.
Catch me a catch is one of those little romance novels to read and enjoy on holiday or to just pass the time, with a little spice and a good plot line, it’s just right for a light read.
We meet Annie and Jack. Annie use to live in Durna and after a failed relationship years previous, she now lives in Dublin and hope to make a name for her in the Chocolate industry. Now back in Durna, it falls on her to help her father, who becomes unwell, to help in the Matchmaking festival, where for two weeks, the Devine’s match up singletons who wish to find their true love. Use to dealing with Bull Devine; Annie’s Da, the locals are not warming to Annie and she struggles with the matchmaking. As the only child it falls on her to carry this tradition when Bull retires, something Annie is not relishing, though unable to speak out in fear of hurting her parents feelings and her reluctance doesn’t help in warming to the locals either.
Jack is sailing from America to Ireland to get a feel for the yacht before doing his presentation to the yacht company in order to secure the advertising contract. Near Durna Jack hits a storm and lightning shorts out the electrics. Forced to moor up, he goes in search for a Chandlers. Devine’s is closed for lunch when he arrives though a local points him in the direct of Annie, where everyone is of the assumption that Jack is here for the festival.
Relationships bloom in Durna, especially during the festival and Annie and Jack are no exception to this rule either.
This is a quick read which provides some humor with romance.
Annie has been drafted into being the town matchmaker during the Durna Matchmaking Festival. Her father is normally the matchmaker, but he is ill. The position has been in the family for a couple of generations.
In her normal life, Annie is a chocolatier in Dublin. She hopes to become a winner in a prestigious contest. Winning would make a dream of hers come true.
Then Jack walks into the pub. He is looking for a chandler to help him with repairs to his yacht. Mistakenly, Annie drags him into joining the search for his perfect match. He goes along with the error because he likes the way Annie looks.
This is a pretty easy story to follow. Annie and Jack are drawn to one another because of physical attraction and eventually they learn to like one another as people.
Annie and Jack are likable characters. Each of them provide the reader with a great deal of inner thoughts. I think I might have liked a little more actual verbal honesty between the two.
There are terrific secondary characters in this story. Annie's parents and family members, some village citizens and some of the people involved in looking for matches are absolutely wonderful for adding to the color and texture of an Irish village.
The plot is straight forward with expected twists and turns along the way.
This is a quick read which is easily completed in an afternoon. I would have liked a little more unexpected action.
This book, in my opinion, was not even good enough to be a summer read. The writing was poor and the plot was predictable. Boy meets girl, they fall in love. But it took 2/3 of the book with silly misunderstandings and miscommunications for them to finally end up in bed together. The writing of the love scenes was forced and overdone - the author tries too hard. Characters are shallow and not well developed. Mostly I was just annoyed the whole time because the writing was so bad. I skimmed the last four chapters just to finish and got the predictable ending. With so many books out there, don't waste your time on this one.
A cute romance story!I am a romantic at heart.I really love romance stories.Reading this made me love chocolates more and more.LOL.I gave fours stars because no matter the situation or circumstances , I really like how Jack and Annie met and fall in love with each others during the Matchmaking festival. But the ending was short.I wanted more and more . Anyway overall it was a good read and hoping to read more of Sally's books.:)
I thoroughly enjoyed this novel and highly recommend it. The characters were likeable, and the banter between them sparkled. Though written in a light-hearted style with humorous touches, the story is not a comedy; it is a moving love story that draws the reader in from the very first page. I also loved that this story was set in modern day Ireland - a setting I'd love to see more of. I'm looking forward to this writer's next book!
I love books set in Ireland and that is honestly the only reason I downloaded this book. It was a lighthearted love story in a unique setting and it made me smile. There is no deep hidden story, no surprise ending, in fact you probably won't ever think of the characters again once you finish this book but I enjoyed it for the predictable love story it is.
Annie Divine makes divine chocolates. The author succeeds in making your mouth water to taste the sweet morsels and somehow you just know you have to grab a piece yourself. The romance is believable and progresses naturally. I liked that Annie was wounded and hurting, but she remained a strong woman. Overall this was a delightful read that kept you reading until the end.
this was a cute, easy, fast read. set in ireland so it automatically makes me happy :-) reminiscent of my favorite irish set movie, 'the matchmaker'.
like in most romances, the speed of their relationship is a little unbelievable, but i liked both characters and their story, along with the town, to overlook it. i wish it was a series!
The book was okay. It had a good story line, but the way the story was told it came off a little cheesy. The ending kind of left me hanging, wondering where Annie went with her chocolatier business, and Jack with his advertising business.
Cute, quick book that I received free on my kindle. It's an adorable and romantic read, and if you love chocolate - oh gosh, you'll love some parts in this book. A great enjoyable book for anytime!
Sally Clements is one of my writers to watch. She writes beautiful, warm hearted love stories with sympathetic characters. This was a lovely light read.
This was a wonderful story. Loved the characters and the author brought me right into the story. I read this in one sitting. Could not put down till I finished.
