As a woman who has been married for twenty years, I'm not quite the intended audience for How I Met the Man of My Dreams, but I agreed to review it anyway. It appealed to the hopeless romantic in me, and I had a certain degree of curiosity as to what the author had to share. Now that I've read it, I'd have to say that overall, I was pretty impressed with her advice. I think more single women who are looking for a man should read this book and take its messages to heart, because all too often, I see them making mistakes. I'm a big fan of the television show, The Bachelor, in large part, because I'm a student of human nature. It might sound weird to say, but it appeals to my inner psychology geek. The women on the show frequently make the dating mistakes I mentioned earlier, especially those who are trying to force a relationship that just isn't in the cards for them. Perhaps the producers of the show should hand out copies of Ms. DeRose's book to all the ladies who don't get roses. In all honesty, I'm not really joking here, but I digress.

Seriously though, many women try to force chemistry with a man based on wishful thinking or outright force a relationship that isn't truly working or what they're truly longing for, because they're afraid of being alone. Ultimately, this is probably going to be a recipe for disaster in the long-term. That's why I really like that the author councils women to face their fears and let go of relationships that aren't working, while believing that the right man is out there. However, the reader may need to work on herself first before she'll actually be ready for the Man of her Dreams, and this waiting period is preparing her for that eventuality. She simply needs to chill and be patient, as well as learn to be happy and content with herself as part of getting ready for that dream man, which I think is very sound advice.

What I liked most about the book was that even though I'm not in the target demographic, I found much food for thought that could be applied to daily life, not just MAN-hunting. Ms. DeRose talks a lot about adjusting our beliefs and clearing out old belief garbage that may be holding us back from our full potential. I also liked what she had to say about Reactance and Resistance. I'm admittedly guilty of both more often than I'd like to admit, and think I (and many other readers) could definitely benefit from reducing Reactance and Resistance in my life. I can't help thinking that I'd probably be a lot more content if I did, so that's something I hope to work on. I also gleaned a lot of wisdom from the sections on active appreciation vs. gratitude and thinking more positively. Even though I'm not currently seeking a man, being a list-maker, I could appreciate the advice on making a list of MAN-qulities or building your ideal Franken-MAN. It seems that making lists like this might be beneficial in other areas of life as well.

In addition to all the bits of wisdom I took away from this book, I really just simply enjoyed reading it. Ms. DeRose has a very easy-to-read writing style that is part straight-talking, part humor, and part empathy and compassion. Reading this book was kind of like sitting down with an old friend to discuss these things. Again, the hopeless romantic in me enjoyed reading about her personal love connection too. Now admittedly readers will probably have to be open to at least the idea of the metaphysical (or “woo-woo” as the author calls it) in order to fully appreciate this book. I consider myself to be a very open-minded and spiritual person, but there are still bits of the woo-woo that feel strange to me (I'm sure the author would say that my physical-mind is getting in the way:-)). In general though, I really liked the positivity and feel-good nature of this book. I may not be looking for a man, but I came away from reading it feeling inspired to make some changes in my life and my thinking.

Note: I received a copy of this book from the author in exchange for an honest review.

I've already found the man of my dreams, but I still enjoyed reading this book because a) it's hilarious and b) there are a lot of good ideas for how to make your life what you want it to be, even if that doesn't involve finding love.

I read Debbianne's other book first and enjoyed it so much I decided to read this one too. And like the last book, I found the final chapter of this one to be a powerful denouement that shows how *after* she found the lover of her dreams, all was not necessarily a bed of roses. She shows how she was getting in her own way, and how she stepped aside to allow the relationship to flourish.

I'm hoping her next book follows up on these ideas by depicting more of how she continues to live the life of her dreams with the man of her dreams.

4 Clarifying stars I recommend this to all my friends who want to attract a significant other.

To those of you who don’t believe in the law of attraction please give this a skip!

*Special Note for all Law of attraction books I have read.

I am giving this book 4 stars. I read a lot on law of attraction and I believe in it after conducting a lot of experiments on my own.

The Secret was only about 20% of the information. You need to read up on Abraham Hicks or listen to their audios. For experiments to see if these principles works, follow the experiments on Nine do it yourself energy experiments that prove that your thoughts create your reality by Pam Grout

A friend of mine recently gave me many books on law of attraction and I have been also given books by authors to review. I have read up a lot of law of attraction and I have to admit this is well written book with loads of good advice and the book was also structured well.

This friend of mine said"I attracted my boyfriend using this book and 5 others which are all in this box." I was impressed. Her boyfriend was a sweet guy who we all adore so much. She has been through her own dark years of abuse and finally her pattern broke and the sweetest and most gentle guy turned up for her. She is getting married early next year. And yes, I will review the other five books too.

Well, Did i attract a guy? I don't know as I just finished reading this book. But I can tell you I have attracted books, events, job assignments, acting gigs, modelling jobs , extra cash by using the principles outlined in the book.

I have read so much crap in Law of attraction books written by people to make a quick buck. Usually these people don’t know what they are talking about and are just repeating words which don't make sense to them which gives a bad name to law of attraction books. Hay house always publishes great books.

Law of attraction has become mainstream and I am thankful I have been working with LOA for a long time and I can pick out the books which are horrible duds.

But I can tell Debbianne has really studied and understood what she is saying. She explains everything so clearly. She structured out her book well and explains in layman terms. This books reminded me of the Barbara Mohr’s Cosmic Ordering.

The first two chapters were a bit too far out for me when she told her story. I liked her story very much but she also spoke to astral travel and a lot woo woo stuff. She herself tells of her adventures in the woo woo world and how she came to explore and practise what she does.

That being said, don't let those first two chapters deter you from reading the book. Those 2 chapters do not in any way foreshadow what the book is about in the coming chapters. The rest of the book has packed some practical advice and exercises.

I liked many parts of the book and even purchased the Kindle version so that I can pass the physical to the next girl who needs some help.

There was a line in this book I loved so much . Doubt is not a lack of faith. It is trusting in something you don't prefer.

There are many gems throughout this book. This book makes sense to me. It doesn’t judge or preach but just goes on to tell how you can make your dreams come true. You just need to focus, feel good and stop holding contradictory thoughts. Monitor you thoughts and get rid of the junk in your head and you heart will feel lighter too.

There is no harm in trying everything lined out in this book. There is no limit to what you can attract. And for the skeptics, Please try out the Pam Grout’s book before heading to this book. I was a hardcore skeptic before.

I am beginning to realise how much I am always experimenting with Law of attraction.

Buy or borrow this book if you understand and know and have experimented with LOA and thoroughly understood the principles. Apply it. What do you lose?

As soon as I have some time on my hands, I am going to try the experiments and exercises outlined this book as well the other five books.

Happy reading!

Self help book are difficult to review because they are a matter of interpretation, what might help one might not help another. That is the good thing about reading the title and the synopsis because you can tell if it is a good fit for you. Looking at the title of this book who wouldn't want to meet the man of their dreams?

Many self-help books are so harsh and strict that people lose interest in them not long after they start reading them because they get discouraged if they don't have immediate results. This is not one of those books. This book gives you help from a personal perspective and is fun and witty at the same time and gives you pointers on how your should approach reaching your goal of getting the man of your dreams. There is no pressure on the reader to reach goals by a certain timeline, the ultimate goal is to be happy and that is what self-help is about, helping one self to be happy. I enjoyed this book and the author and her group of friends are AWESOME. Debbianne DeRose is on to something with her style of writing and I have enjoyed it very much and look forward to reading more from her in the future.
