Terry is beyond hope. Or so she believes. Disabled by an injury and dismissed by the medical profession, she has become a burden to her family. Or so she thinks. Her husband carries responsibilities that once were hers. Her grown sons no longer need her. Her 13-year-old daughter walks in shoes she shouldn't need to. All Terry can do is pray it will finally end, but God doesn't seem to be listening.
Then she receives an unexpected answer to prayer....

Dawn loves to write Christian romance, suspense, and women's fiction, as well as fantasy with a Christian worldview. She took first place in the Contemporary Romance category, as well as winning the Grand Prize, in the Writers On the Storm Category Five writing competition. She lives in the high desert of Southern Arizona with her husband of 20 years and a variety of critters, furred and feathered. Besides writing and spending time with friends, she enjoys crochet, photography, scrapbooking, spinning yarn from wool and alpaca, and lots and lots of reading.
This story started out sad, but ended up on a healing note. I enjoyed that about it. How can you not like a novel that deals with restoration? There were a lot of nuggets of wisdom in this book about relationships, forgiveness, and the healing power of healthy grieving. Oh, and the inspiring theme about dealing with your fears was great, too. I really connected with the characters in the process of going through the fire with them. The husband was a good guy and very patient with his wife. It inspired me that he believed her when she talked about her pain. He never gave up and it paid off in the end.
If you enjoy reading well-written novels involving dogs, horses, and issues with family and God healing relationships, you'll love this book. It was honest and heartfelt, and I really enjoyed it once I got past the depressing beginning. Plus, it was pretty cool that it was set in the area of Arizona where I live. Nevertheless, it hit close to home with my family situation growing up, so it was difficult for me at first.
Terry and Wes Donovon's story, Beyond Hope, is a sequel to Promises, 20 years after their marriage. This story is a strong Christian book with a lot of scripture and faith, dealing with Terry's problems 2 years after a devastating accident on her horse. If you like a book with a Christian message of love, hope and forgiveness, I highly recommend this one. It could be read as a stand alone book, I thing, but I am glad I read Promises first. Both stories kept my complete attention. I hope to be able to read a lot more by Dawn M. Turner.
The first part of this book with the feelings, thoughts, emotions, struggles, etc. of the MC and her family. The day after day, year after year... for them with no end in sight. And for her the survival of now, each moment as it comes, hour by hour living yo get through the pain... No making plans, no promises, no future... Because your life, your body is no longer dependable. These things. These, I live and breath every moment of every day. It is very real. Like reading about myself almost, with details changed or left out.
