Obviously there are some parts to this that you have to view through the 1977 publication date lens. But even with current parenting books, you need to have a "keep what makes sense, discard the rest" attitude anyway. There are always going to be some things that don't jive for you or your child or your family situation.

(Like when he advises parents to let their children play in the bath as long as they want before getting them out. HA. You come sit with them, pal. Just kidding, he died in 1993.)

But that all being said, for the most part this book offers solid techniques to try to understand and really listen to your child at every stage of development. I found it really comforting and relatable and will definitely put some of these ideas into practice.
