When Dr Tom Hotson takes rooms in Laker Avenue with amateur detective Hemlock Bones, he has no idea that he is about to enter a shadowy world of criminality and violence. Nor does he anticipate falling in love with Holmes and having his sexual needs attended to in a way he had only previously dreamed about.
Accompanying Bones to an ill-omened house in south London, Hotson is startled to find a dead man whose face is contorted in a rictus of horror. There is no mark of violence on the body yet a single word is written on the wall in blood. Dr Hotson is as baffled as the police, but Bones’ brilliant analytical skills soon uncover a trail of murder, revenge and lost love…
Along with Bones, Hotson throws himself into finding the killer, but also finds himself. As Hotson reveals more of his desires to his lover, Bones does his utmost to make sure those desires are met. In a heady time where Hotson is thrust into a horrifying murder case, the love he feels for Bones, and the sexual experiences they share, help him to remain level-headed until the killer is caught.

A Study in Scarlet is a detective mystery novel written by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, it is the first story to feature the character of Sherlock Holmes, who would later become one of the most famous literary detective characters, with long-lasting interest and appeal. The novel, A Study in Scarlet, introduced the eccentric genius of Sherlock Holmes to the world. This baffling murder mystery, with the cryptic word Rache written in blood, first brought Holmes together with Dr. John Watson. It tells the history of the case and the love and hatred between the prisoner and the victim. In the first part, after careful observation, Sherlock Holmes found the blood word “RACHE” painted on the wall. According to the characteristics of the blood characters, the general characteristics of the prisoners are inferred from the excellent deductive method. In a series of twists and tums of the plot, after another victim after the front of the dead (the secretary), holmes set a trap, and disguised as a driver with the prisoner caught in London. In the second part, it tells the experience of the prisoner in Utah and how the prisoner followed the enemy to London and carried out his revenge to the capture. The book is known for his proficiency with observation, fornsic science, and logical reasoning that borders on the fantastic. For example, a four-wheel two-man carriage rolled over the dirt, a pinch of cigar ash powder, a faint acid from the mouth of the dead. Especially after he has just discovered a few letters of RACHE, the sentence “ With these two implements he trotted noiselessly about the room, sometimes stopping, accasionally kneeling, and once lying flat upon his face.” Although this sentence seems simple, but it can directly show the characteristics of the meticulous observation of Sherlock Holmes. In meticulous observation, Sherlock Holmes has always been able to solve the case, but he is not proud of his achievemengts. What’s more, the logical reasoning is the best in this book, such as the sentences “ There were no scars on the dead man, but the nervous, excited expression on his face convinced me that he had foreseen his fate before he was dying. If it has been a heart attack, or other sudden natural death, there would have been no expression of that nervous expression in their faces under any circumstances. I smelt the dead man’s lips a little sour, so I came to the conclusion that he had been forced to take poison. ” This part is a step in his reasoning, Sherlock reasoned out the characteristics of the murder gradually and clearly in the siightest clue he has found before, and according to it, we can see his logic and rigour. The story not only uses a lot of words to shape the character of Sherlock Holmes, but also renders the beautiful and pure love between him and Lucy. And in the book, from the emtional point of view, we can know that a real friend is someone who always stand by your side without any complication. And to Sherlock, John must be that person. We can feel the strong friendship between them. Whether it is riforous reasoning or careful observation, the emotion conveyed between the lines is the essence of this mystery novel. And in content and form, it is the double detective mode, which is similar to the straight and funny in cross talk. It adds to the pleasure of reading. In the end ,I’d like to say one of my favorite sayings in the book is that “ When all other possibilities are ruled out, there is onr left, no matter how improbale, that is the truth.” I ‘d like to recommend this book for you.

A Study In Scarlet by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle is a short mystery novel beginning the adventures of Sherlock Holmes and Watson. In the first edition of Sherlock Holmes Watson and Sherlock Holmes discover a murder that has happened within there city. The murder victim has been killed in a way that no one can figure out except for Sherlock Holmes and with only a corpse with red hair to figure out the study in scarlet.
I loved this book and the well developed mystery that was written within it. I listened to the audio book with this book and it added way more depth to the story and made me want to come back and read it more and more. I would rate this book a 4 out of 5 stars because of its almost peaceful mood and how the mystery is so in depth and makes you question your own theories on the murder. I would recommend this book to anyone 6th grade and up because it is a simple mystery to wrap your head around and it is a quick read depending on how fast you read books. Overall the story was a great read that makes me very excited for future books in the series.
This book is written on the point of view from Dr John A. Watson, who was injured in the war, and is now working on a case with Sherlock Holmes. Sherlock is a scientist working on a case about someone who was murdered and the murderer had written: RACHE on the wall with blood. I really enjoyed this book, it was very interesting how he was so good at figuring things out, and it was suspenseful, and thrilling.
