Love-n-Trouble #2

Trouble Won't Wait

Rate this book
Good things may come to those who wait, but trouble waits for no one…

Cheating is a dealbreaker...or so Mandy has always thought. But when she catches her husband getting some “strange,” she realizes how hard it is to cut and run, or even file papers. She agrees to a month of counseling, which will give her time to grieve the loss of her marriage before she has to tell the world—and the kids. Then she meets Adam, who gives her a hunky, if mysterious, shoulder to cry on, and that thirty-day waiting period seems like an eternity.

Adam has no problem confessing that he’s watched Mandy from his window for months as she runs by his house. If he told her why, though, she’d freak out for sure. He knows they’ve got a future together, if he can think of a way to explain his past. And he’s sure the rat-bastard who cheated on her is putting the moves on her again, but he won’t be the revenge guy. The month-long cooling off period she agreed to is lasting forever, and might just be indefinite, if trouble keeps getting in their way.

Content Warning: Eccentric old lady pushing salt-of-the-earth advice, bossy big brother, kooky counselor, super-secretive hunk, and perfect justice served amidst adult situations and language.

The more I think about this book, the more I like it.

At first, it bothered me that she wasn't more aggressive after finding Mike with Lana bent over the hood of a car in a garage where anyone could find them.

That's just bad manners and I probably would've yelled a little or something. It is interesting to see Mandy's emotions during those fleeting times when she's thinking of possibly trying to make the marriage work, then realizing what a scuzz her man is a knowing she needs to be done with him. It's probably what most women actually go through during a divorce when cheating's the cause.

I loved Adam, even with his needed to keep some big things private, and loved him with Mandy. This was a fun, light read even though the subject matter could've made it depressing.

I'm hovering between 2.5 and 3 stars. I read all the way to the end (no skimming), so maybe 3, but then again...read on for why maybe just 2.5 stars.

This strange book was Mandy and Mike story than became Mandy and Adam's story. The story started as a marriage-in-trouble trope, with Mandy apparently walking in on Mike and his skank Lana getting busy the night before Thanksgiving. Just how busy they were getting was a bit unclear until a little later. On Thanksgiving day, disgusted with both the previous evening's events and her in-laws' attrocious behavior, Mandy takes a walk throught he neighborhood to clear her head. She meets Adam that night and explains her trainwreck life. They begin a friendship.

After being confronted with his trangressions, Mike convinces Mandy to give him another chance in the form of one month of marital counseling. She agrees, but intimates to the reader that it's mostly for the kids that she is doing this. She's cut him off and moved into the basement bedroom. Marital counseling is conducted by a newby grad, completely out of his element and over his head. Mandy spends the sessions engaging in mental jokes about him. Oh, and at one point, he makes a blatent pass at her during a private session. She tells Mike, who doesn't believe her. Mike, meanwhile, continues to hook up with Lana and lie about it. Oh, and at one point, Mike almost rapes her. She starts locking the two doors between her and the rest of the house at night.

She and Adam continue to meet up daily on her walks, but keep it very PG, just occasionally kissing. She wants to wait until the month is up, if for no other reason than to assuage her own guilt. They have an easy connection, but it's clear to Mandy he's harboring secrets. He gets the flu at one point and has a fever of 106 (he'd be dead or brain damaged), but nurse Mandy comes to the rescue by breaking into his house, getting him into a cool shower, making up his bed, and bringing him meds and gatorade. Also, in a fever delerium, Adam calls her another name and tells her he loves her. Once well, he doesn't mention this other person again, and of course, misunderstandings happen all over the place.

Ultimately, Mandy gives Mike the heave ho in a very public way. He's upset because he tried to woo her with gifts and being nice this past month (while banging Lana). She's free to move on to Adam, but OH WAIT! Another very pregnant woman opens his door and calls him "hon", making Mandy believe that this is the woman he loves. She holes up in the house for days, with family and friends checking in, but she doesn't contact Adam. Eventually the misunderstanding is cleared up and happiness happens for Mandy, finally.

Here's the thing. This book was both too much and not enough for my needs. As I was checking the shelves I think this book belongs on in my GR library, I felt like this story didn't quite meet the criteria for many of them, desptie those elements being present in the story. I didn't actually feel the angst that I was reading about. That may have been because Mandy has a kind of dry, salty wit that doesn't lend itself to angst, but I felt sort of robbed. At key points in the story, details are either too plentiful (about things or events that don't necessarily contribute to the story - rose potpouri, Mark's eating habits, Mandy's trip to the wax place) or mostly missing (like when she discovers Mike and Lana screwing in the garage, which would have ramped up the connection to Mandy and her plight from the get-go). Becuase of those either missing or overabundant details at various points, I felt sort of disconnected from the story. I love a great cheating story, especially when the wronged party draws the long stick and gets to move on to more happiness. This story just wasn't a great cheating story for me, despite having many of the tropes I love.

Gostei muito da leitura e não desgrudei até chegar ao final! Gostei da atitude da Mandy que não engoliu a traição do marido e ficou na dela até dar o troco numa boa. Adorei a tia e o irmão dela e principalmente gostei muito do Adam!
Recomendo!

-----------
I enjoyed the read and didn't stop reading until I reach the end. I like Mandy's attitude she didn't swallow the betrayal of her husband and was on hold until revenge successfully. I loved the aunt and her brother and especially I really liked Adam!

I LOVED this book!!!!

Wow…I stayed up till 2am reading this story. It was so emotional, so well written (except for the one typo where Laura/Lana was concerned) and so heartbreaking. What would you do if you walked in on your man getting some “strange”? When I first read the blurb, I was worried that it was going to be him getting it on with a dog or transvestite. But, thankfully, no. It was a straight up against the car balling of your best friends girlfriend. Yuck! But worse yet, it was in your best friend’s garage at his Thanksgiving party with your kids in the other room! What would I do? Grab a crow bar or equally heavy tool and whack the crap out of his kneecaps. But, Mandy is a much sweeter, kinder woman than I.

Mandy, Amanda, has been with Mike for 14 years. They have a 12 yr old son and a 10yr old daughter. She works as his bookkeeper and general homemaker, but recently decided to pursue her dream of writing. After publishing two books, Mandy began to grow in her confidence and into herself. The 20+ pounds she has gained being “wifey” has melted off her as she walks and runs her neighborhood releasing tension. This tension is eluded to more than described. But I could picture her growing frustrations with her in-laws, her inattentive husband and her unfulfilled relationship were wearing her down.

When she sees Mike and Lana in the garage, she literally breaks inside. Thanksgiving afternoon, all is quiet, her house ravaged by her in-laws, she escapes to her run. But today is different. Today, a handsome but older man approaches her….Enter Adam. I love how he is described, cute, dimples, slightly receding hair indicating his age…not perfect and yet perfect for her. But then coming to her senses, Mandy realizes that she is in a cemetery, hidden from the street and alone with a strange man. And yet, he doesn’t feel strange, Mandy notices…I loved their clandestine meeting! Best line at their meet cute, was Mandy to herself: “After all, you can’t rape the willing.”

As the story unfolds, the plot is all about Mandy, her growth and her revelations that her marriage had been less than ideal for some time. Mike, made classic mistakes most husbands do: he took her for granted, put less and less effort into their lovemaking, then sought out something hot and sexy to supplement his appetites. The killer part of this was Mandy, for all intensive purposes, was a horny little thing.
She and Mike did the deed not 1 hour before going to that fateful party at their best friend Brad’s. Also, Mandy loved him. She admitted to herself that she did, that she may be able to forgive and that was the reason for the one month agreement. But also, the one month gave Mandy time to mourn the loss of her marriage and prepare her kids for a new life.

Adam is quite the enigma. I liked him right off, but then every so often he would pull out a bit of crazy. Like threatening to kill Mike if he touched Mandy, or threatening to go over there and haul Mandy and the kids out of the house. Those seemed like red flags to me, but then Adam would calm and Mandy would soothe him with gentle words and promises of the future. They held true to the “letter of the law”, not consummating their relationship while Mandy wore Mike’s ring. But,
their emotional relationship and deep connection seemed to belie any efforts that Mandy and Mike could have made in their marriage counseling sessions. Speaking of which, I feel sorry for Mike at many points and actually believed him to be penitent until the counselor hit on Mandy and he didn’t believe her. Say what? He really didn’t believe that anyone but him could want her, desire her…

But desire her they did: from her brother’s two friends, to the counselor, to their best friend Brad. But in the end, Mandy only had eyes and a mending heart for Adam. I loved the twists and turns along the way to their HEA. This book was a fantastic journey of loss, of love and of second (and third) chances. Enjoy!

I wanted to like this book more than I did. It is interesting because all of the elements are there for a really good story, but for me, they aren't quite all put together to make for a great result.

Mandy and Mike have been married for years. They have two great kids, a nice home, and by all accounts a successful and happy marriage. Or at least they did until Mandy catches Mike in a compromising position with another woman. Mike is remorseful, Mandy is angry. Mike wants to go to counseling and Mandy decides she'll give it a month, but she is really just going through the motions. She feels too betrayed and she's now very attracted to a sexy neighbor Adam.

There is a little blurb on the book that says:

"Warning: Real people aren't all good or all bad. Neither are the characters in this story. The shade of right or wrong you see may depend upon whose glasses you are looking through."

My main problem is that I don't think the book lived up to that warning. I wanted to read about shades of gray and I wanted to feel ambivalent about the husband's cheating. However I didn't. I did think that the characters were painted very clear in their 'right' vs. 'wrong' actions. Mike was clearly placed in the space of 'wrong'. Although he said a lot of the right things, his actions never backed them up. He did not feel truly remorseful. He felt weak and manipulative to me. He felt at all times like a guy who decided to scratch an itch and only wanted to repair his marriage after he decided he was done with the other woman. At one point Mandy wonders if he'd cheated before. I was sure he'd cheat again. And as an added bonus his family were painted as fairly awful people.

I did think Mandy was the grey-er character and it was her characterization that made the book for me. She is clearly the wronged spouse. She is angry and I loved that the author allowed her verbalize and act on her anger in various ways through out the book. One of the things I tend to hate about cookie-cutter romance is that there seems to be some unspoken (or maybe it is said out loud) rule that the heroine can't be loudly pissed off at things. That she has to take the high road and suffer nobly (personally I blame Harlequin romances for that 'suffer-in-silence' shit, those books have taken that to an art form).

But Mandy is also problematic is some ways too. She clearly has no intention of truly working on her marriage through counseling. She's simply stringing Mike along. She is also indulging in her own affair, albeit an emotional one. And even though she and Adam don't "go all the way" they get pretty close well before she is officially done with Mike. So in some ways Mandy could be seen as being just as unfaithful as Mike, but she is placed in a space of 'right' because a)the book is told from her perspective and b)her actions have the approval of the other characters. So while I was very sympathetic to her, I also thought she had forfeited some of her high ground.

With a nod to the title, there is a revenge element here and it left a bit of a bad taste in my mouth. I know that many readers will cheer this part on. For me, though, I didn't like it. For all that Mike was an asshole, at least he was one privately. He cheated on her yes, but it wasn't public. Mandy's payback was, and it felt cheap to me.

And finally, I thought the book, which had been grooving right along, avoiding romance-novel-cliche territory pretty well, stumbled right at the end. One simple question: "Hi my name is Mandy, who are you?" could have avoided several pages of eye-rolling from me.

I think this book would have lived up to it's potential for me if only Mike had been made a little more nuanced and given the more gray treatment that Mandy got.

UGHHHH so conflicted bc this had the revenge/grovel plot of my dreams--ex husband really got his just desserts, but I just could not get past the whole Laura thing. Really creeped me out. And I don't think it was adequately acknowledged or resolved.

Yikes, A lot to unpack here!
If one ignores a perplexing handful of stupid, this is an enjoyable, angst laden tale of betrayal. The h finds her husband banging their friend's hypersexual girlfriend who is apparently a lust magnet to all testosterone in the vicinity. The reactions initially appeared bizarrely inadequate from all involved. Nothing is addressed until the following day.The h questions if she is over reacting, the H ignores the situation til later that night when after out partying, drunkenly calls her to ask if she is mad! ASK IF SHE IS MAD? After her witnessing the deed on Thanksgiving, with kids and nearly the entire town(slight exaggeration) in the next room?!! Next he brags that he could have had a different skank tonight, but used self control to turn her down because he loves her. Stunned, she tells him she has opportunity to do same,he laughs it off as an impossibility!
Then her friend and the H's partner in adultery (and as we later determine, town slut)calls her to ask if everything is ok since she was acting funny after she walked out of the room. Yes she is speaking of her exiting the garage where she witness the couple, her husband and friend Banging!Say What??.Then she flips the narrative, no longer ludicrously.wearing the mask of the concerned friend, and is now in OW attack mode launching all she's got to decimate her self esteem . Next ,she request it be kept on the down low!! We later learn that this is an ongoing campaign she has instigated to un woman her via her own hubby!
So Mike is freaking out, professing love and doing maximum grovel with one huge caveat ...which I don't think I should spoil as it will reveal a major plotlines\ twists. Its a biggie, though.
Meanwhile the h is in an odd new friendship with a dude she met the day after Thanksgiving that immediately evolves into emotional cheating ,make outs and Insta love.Dude has creep factor and appears obsessed but is loving and supportive.
The H asks for a month to heal the marriage and attend Marriage counseling .She agrees because she doesn't want to break up over Christmas . They go to a bizarre hippie type Therapist contracted by the husband ,who after the initial visit separates husband and wife for individual sessions. He then proceeds to suggest a revenge f#ck in a controlled setting......with him! There is nothing remotely enticing about the dude or his offer. Worse yet the husband refuses to believe her on this. Apparently he does not deem her attractive enough for even this shriveled up weirdo to come on to her.But at the same time he is making a concerted effort to win her back with He loves her ,buying gifts, crowding her 24\7,states he is dying without making love to her ect. How many ways can we spell confusing, hypocritical and antithetical?
I know I'm probably forgetting other examples of the crazy and leaving quite a bit out for fear of total spoilage, but as you can see there's this weird undercurrent of strange going on.Hence the original questionable reactions to the infidelity .There exist as well very unusual interactions with in the group of friends.
I will still recommend for those who enjoy, twisty, angst laden tales of infidelity with a side quest for Revenge.Feel free to request further details!🙂

My Review:
Usually I hate to read books that involve an unhappy marriage, but something about the description of this story drew me in and I am so glad that it did. I really loved this book. Honestly, I did not put it down from the time I started it until I turned the last page. I just couldn't see how this was all going to turn out for everyone especially knowing that Adam was hiding something and not knowing what exactly it was although I had a pretty good idea.

This book starts on Thanksgiving day with Mandy out walking. She's just walked in on her husband, Mike, and friend having sex on top of a car in the garage and is completely shocked, completely angry, and at a total loss of how to react now. On her walk, she meets Adam. He's been watching her for a couple of months while she walks and has finally gotten brave enough to introduce himself.

The book covers the next month of these people's lives. Mandy quickly decides that her marriage is over, but she's not going to act on that until after Christmas. Mike and Mandy have two kids, ages 10 and 12 and she doesn't want to ruin their holiday with talk of a divorce. In that time, they stay living in the same house and are seeing a marriage counselor (who hits on Mandy when Mike's not around), but she's sleeping in a separate bed. She's also getting MUCH closer to Adam during that time period.

Reading this book was a lot like watching a car wreck. Mandy is completely blown away by Mike's betrayal. They've been married for 13 years and have had a good marriage. They even had sex the morning of his betrayal. She waffles between anger and wanting to give merit to those happy 13 years, but how could she ever trust him again. As a married woman, it's hard to watch her with this struggle. As simply a woman, it's even harder to see her even think about giving him a second chance. It's a tough book and very emotional, but it is so good! It's extremely well-written. You can't help but feel for all of these characters....yes, there were even moments when I felt bad for the jerk, Mike. It's a bad situation and the author shows the myriad of emotions that go with that. BUT even more importantly, she never made it a depressing book. You are caught up in the drama of it all, but never once do you feel like Mandy isn't going to overcome it all...you just are never quite sure HOW she's going to do that.

It was really really good and I truly loved the way that it ended. This book may not be one that I would normally pick up, but I'm so glad that I did today. This is the kind of book that strikes a deep emotional chord and sticks with me for a few days. I love that kind of book!

I received a complimentary copy of this book in return for an honest review.

What would you do if you caught your husband in a compromising position with a neighbor's girlfriend?

For Mandy, catching her husband Mike cheating right before her eyes has turned her perfect world upside down. After fourteen years of marriage and two children, Mandy is having a hard time dealing with Mike's infidelity, and she is torn on what to do. Things become more complicated when Mandy meets a handsome mysterious man named Adam Kraft while she is out running. Adam has watched Mandy run past his home for months, and as they get to know each other they become closer, their mutual attraction is getting harder to deny. Mandy is forced to decide whether she wants to save her marriage to Mike, or choose to have a second chance at love with Adam.

Trouble Won't Wait is an emotionally charged story about a woman who discovers her husband's infidelity, the consequences that it has on her marriage, and getting a second chance at love. Author Autumn Piper weaves a poignantly raw tale written in the first person narrative told by Mandy, who takes the reader on a journey as she deals with her husband's infidelity, and the painful and destructive consequences that his actions has on their family and marriage. This emotional roller coaster ride immediately draws you into Mandy's story, you can't help but feel for Mandy as she experiences the full gamut of emotions that comes with such devastating personal issues. This story will make you ponder what would you do if you were in Mandy's shoes.

This compelling story will keep you riveted as Mandy's story unfolds and she goes through the various stages of deciding what to do with her marriage. And if that isn't enough to keep you engaged, the author adds a handsome mysterious man, Adam Kraft, into the mix as a potential new love interest for Mandy, but he has a secret past, can it get any more complicated than that? Can Adam's intense and raw devotion for Mandy be enough to sweep her off her feet? Can their mutual attraction and desire for each other sway Mandy's decision and give her a second chance at love? With realistic and complex characters; riveting dialogue and interactions; and a storyline that has enough twists and turns to keep the reader engaged; Trouble Won't Wait is one woman's emotional journey of love, loss and second chances.

Trouble Won’t Wait is a fast paced, engaging contemporary romance that shares the story of Mandy who is faced with having to end her marriage of thirteen years after discovering her husband Mike was unfaithful. Despite the heavy themes in this book, the author Autumn Piper does a great job of adding some well needed levity to the situation with great dialog and light interactions between the different characters.

In this story, Mandy and Mike commit to one month of marriage counseling to attempt and repair their marriage after “The Indiscretion.” However, that proves difficult when Mandy meets a wonderful and genuine guy and strikes up an immediate attraction with him. Adam definitely plays a huge role in helping her walk away from Mike with little to no attempt at fixing her marriage, but as a reader I found myself rooting for these two characters.

At first, however, I felt that she should have given Mike a fighting chance, but truth be told - infidelity is something I couldn’t forgive, so I can’t sit here and hold a fictional character to higher standards. Albeit a small part of me wishing Mandy would have stayed away from Adam during her one month marriage counseling, I did enjoy her interactions with Adam as he proved to be extremely caring and loving. I was happy to see Mandy didn’t dwell on the “woman scorned” bit, but immediately looked for ways to put her life back together as quickly as possible. She made the right choices for her family, without sacrificing her own happiness, which I was nice to see.

This book discretely forces you to think about things such as betrayal, honesty and commitment on so many different levels, so I appreciated the lengths Piper went to keep her story “open-minded” yet full of depth. In the end I felt there were no hidden agendas, just downright good storytelling. At the end of the novel, Mike sort of won me over despite his cheating ways so I’m looking forward to reading his story to see what life has in store for this character. Good book that was entertaining and quick to read.

I thoroughly enjoyed Autumn Piper’s “Trouble Won’t Wait.” I read it in two sittings, which is basically unheard of for me, as I have four active teens constantly vying for my attention. In truth, the house could have burned down around me and I would have been sitting there with “Trouble Won’t Wait” in one hand, holding up the other hand, saying, “Just a minute…” When I finally put the book down, the house was a complete shambles. But, to be fair, it was that way when I picked the book up, too. Hardly Autumn Piper’s fault.

Ms. Piper’s characters were so real I was actively worried for them. Her heroine, Mandy, scared me sometimes because I thought she might be playing with fire a little too much. I actually stopped to tweet the author and she assured me that there was a happy ending, which is good, because I feel cheated if I don’t get my happy ending. I loved Aunt Clara, who was both a sage, and a hoot. I wish I had an aunt like her. I just wanted to take her home with me. And I love, love, loved Adam. I wanted to take him home with me, too. But for an ENTIRELY different reason! Hot and hunky, I couldn’t get enough of him! Mandy’s son, Ben was awesome, as was her brother, Mark and his wife, Kenna. All of these characters were very relatable, flawed, but endearing.

But the thing that really stood out in this book was the freshness of Autumn Piper’s voice. It was a delight to read. Any downsides? There were places that seemed a little bit slow, but probably only because I couldn’t read it fast enough to find out what was going to happen next. There were things that could be considered cliché, only the author added just enough doubt that while you thought something was the case, you weren’t completely sure. I was totally engaged from start to finish, the characters’ actions all rang true, and, in closing, I highly recommend this book. A great, angsty read that will have you as torn as Mandy is. Brought to you by OBS reviewer Autumn

*Beware of possible spoilers*

Mandy thought she had a pretty good life. She has a successful business, two healthy children and a beautiful home. Until she finds her husband in a compromising position with a neighbor’s girlfriend…

Mandy is torn about what to do. Part of her wants to work on her marriage for the sake of her kids but the other part is telling her that the handsome stranger she met while running near the cemetery is worth taking another chance at love.

Adam has seen Mandy running by and day after day he works up the courage to go out and speak to her. She confides in him about her marriage and soon the attraction between them can no longer be denied. Mandy has to make a choice. Can she forgive her husband knowing that he will never change or can she open herself up enough to let in the enigmatic and mysterious Adam?

Trouble Won’t Wait was both an emotional and funny read. You can’t help but relate to Mandy and feel both her pain and her joy. You put yourself in her position asking yourself what you would do. You also find yourself being swept away by Adam and intoxicated by his raw devotion for her. This was an unexpected and enjoyable find that will have the hardcore romantic reading way into the night.

Mandy plans to leave her husband the minute their month of counseling is over. How can she forgive his outrageous affair? It would almost be funny if the consequences weren't so harsh. They've got kids, and families with strong -- and warped -- opinions on marriage. While her clueless husband launches a campaign to win her back, Mandy meets Adam, the perfect shoulder to cry on. Will perfect justice prove just how sweet revenge can be when you wait for it?
Content Warning: Real people aren't all good or all bad. Neither are the characters in this story. The shade of right or wrong you see may depend upon whose glasses you are looking through.

I did enjoy this book just to see what the wife would do to avenge the 'Indescretion' of her husband. The secondary characters could have been given a bit more depth and a view from the husband's point would have made the story even more stronger, but it was still a good read for a novella.

When Mandy discovers her husband’s infidelity on Thanksgiving, she’s torn between kicking him out immediately thereby ruining her kids’ Christmas and hanging onto a fourteen-year marriage. She even agrees to a month’s counseling. Meantime, she meets Adam, a gorgeous hunk who thinks she’s beautiful. While he’s a balm to her shredded ego, she won’t have a revenge affair.

Autumn Piper uses humor and pathos to tell a story of heartbreak and indecision. Her depiction of a woman whose principles take a beating seems so realistic. At times, I wanted to shake Mandy and tell her to wake up and smell the coffee—her husband wasn’t going to change. Then Aunt Clara did it for me. She stole every scene she was in with her down-to-earth wisdom. Just what Mandy needed—along with a brother who offered to beat the husband to a pulp. This story of small town life where family supports each other is a great read.

I read this book under the newly published "Trouble Won't Wait"

If you have a cheating, asswipe of a husband and you need to seek revenge?... Then THIS IS A MUST READ FOR YOU!!! LOL

What is it they say about a woman scorned?.. Hell hath no fury? Geeez..... but dear Mandy has every right to be!!! I can't say I would have handled it the same but she was sooooo good at it! Her stupid douchebag of a husband is clueless! (but, most men are) Adam is a sweet heart but I still don't know if I would have been as receiving as Mandy was when his secret is revealed.... that would make me feel a little funny, I think.

Overall, this is very good read. I have loved everything that APiper has put out there for us! Mandy is was superior at conniving her revenge and that made the story take on a whole new type of suspense for me!

A lovely romance to leaf through next to the Christmas tree and which can warm your dreams near the fire in these winter holidays. It is the story of Mandy, Amanda, a woman who believes her life is wrecking after finding out her husband, Mike, cheating on her in their own house on Thanksgiving day. She can't believe her eyes when she discovers him in flagrante delicto: he and one of their friends' girlfriend having sex in the garage of their house! Amanda is out of herself with rage. She will never forgive him. Never.

She thought they had a satisfying relationship, she was sure of that and loved Mike dearly. And even after her husband betrayed her, ignored her efforts to keep fit and attractive after having their two children, didn’t even realized she wrote books in her spare time and never read what she wrote, she accepted a month’s counseling to try to save her marriage. She can’t love Mike any longer but her sense of duty is strong enough to let her promise him she will meet the bizarre marriage counselor he chose.
She is so angry with Mike, who goes on cheating on her even during the counseling, but she tries to bear his presence in her life and in the same house for 4 weeks more. Where does she find the strength? In the newly acquired friendly bond with a mysterious, fascinating neighbour, Adam.

Adam and Amanda are clearly attracted to one another, but she doesn’t want to give her husband any reason for blaming her for the failure of their marriage, so she decides she can’t have an affair before her marriage is officially over.
Will she be strong enough to resist temptation? Then, what does mysterious Adam hide in his top-secret past? Why has he been watching her from a distance in the last months and knows so much about her?

Autumn Piper’s prose is vivacious and her narration involving, she brings to life realistic characters with whom you’ll find easy to relate, especially Amanda. The experiences she includes in her novel are ordinary but made special by romance and irony and will give the reader an occasion to reflect on love, temptation, trust and loyalty.

I couldn't finish this. I got to 24% and every character seemed to either be over-reacting or under-reacting. Mandy supposedly thinks her marriage is great until she finds her husband boning the skanky wife of one of their friends in the garage at a party. Instead of confronting them, she walks out and spends the next 24 hours, maybe it was more, behaving as if nothing happened to the rest of the people at the party, her husband, her kids, her in-laws, everyone except for the neighbor that she meets while she's out walking. This guy, the neighbor, has apparently been watching her go for walks for a long time and has the hots for her. That wouldn't have been so bad, except this guy seems very stalkerish. His emotions when they come to her burn way to hot way too soon after she meets him. Putting myself in Mandy's shoes, I would have run for the hills from this guy instead of returning interest in him, hanging out with him, etc. Meanwhile, her husband keeps acting like he didn't really do anything wrong and apparently thinks that buying her an expensive present will fix it. And really, Mandy doesn't seem to be all that hurt by her husband's behavior. She even has a thought akin to, "Oh! A sparkly!" when she sees the ring her husband bought her (That wasn't really the thought she had, but it may as well have been). It seems to me that she's more mad than hurt. Also, much too quickly, she contemplates jumping into another relationship with this stranger she just met. Yet she keeps thinking about how she loves her husband, but I wasn't feeling it. And her concern about what people will think when they see them walking into counseling just felt so shallow. I was growing to dislike everyone in this book. None of it felt believable, and it had taken me almost a week to get through a quarter of the book, so I gave up.

Trouble Won't Wait drew me into a story about one woman's journey through ending a 13-year marriage and discovering a new love. Autum Piper made Mandy, Adam, and even filandering Mike so real that I laughed with them, felt their sorrow and shame, and was lifted by their hope as their lives tangle into an endearing tale of give and take, betrayal and trust.

Adam isn't perfect. He's pushy and demanding and kind of stalkery. But he's also genuine and caring and very, very patient. What Mandy feels for him is new and realistic in light of the problems she's having in her marriage...yes, you heard me, her marriage. And Adam isn't her husband.

There's infidelity in this one, folks, but it's not what you might think, and it's done superbly. Trouble Won't Wait is one of my favorite reads of 2012. It's a study in craft and a journey into one woman's heart as she decides whether to resuscitate her dying marriage or pursue something that has the potential to be beautiful with a neighbor who is keeping secrets but being incredibly sweet and real.

Trouble Won't Wait is romance, but it also feels a bit like women's fiction to me since Mandy's heart, decisions, and consequences appear on every page and drive the story every bit as much as the romance thread. You might not always agree with her decisions or her reasoning (I did, but some women might wish she was firmer with her husband at the start), but they are HER decisions, and they are true to her character and fit her life. By the way, there is a kick-butt lay-it-all-on-the-line scene where women everywhere will stand up and cheer.

Please, please, if you love romance done realistic, sweet, and with a little bit of spice, check out Trouble Won't Wait

Trouble Won’t Wait is a thoroughly enjoyable contemporary romance that will keep you reading from the first page to the last. It has it all . . . humor, sizzling sensuality, and a story that will grab your attention.

Autumn Piper delivers a well-written fast-paced novel with a diverse cast of characters. The story includes a cheating husband, a hunky irresistible neighbor, an interfering old-woman, the town slut, a well-meaning big brother, an obnoxious counselor, and a wise-beyond-his-years teenager.

The story is a humorous and sexy look into the life of a wronged wife who is faced with many decisions as she struggles to prevail over adversity. The characters were well-drawn and totally believable. The wife, Mandy, is strong, spirited and gives as good as she gets. The sexy tension between her and the hot neighbor is palatable and will have you rooting for the happily ever after. The writing flows and the chemistry sizzles.

If you like sexy, romantic novels where the heat level is steamy and the heroine is smart, self-sufficient, and not afraid to overcome the tribulations of life then this book is one you definitely want to read.

I received a copy of this book in exchange for my honest review and participation in a virtual book tour event hosted by Buy the Book Tours.

Until a night ago, Mandy thought she had the perfect life; a wonderful husband and two amazing children. But when she catches her husband Mike in a very compromising position with another woman, life as she knows it changes forever. As she struggles with her husband’s infidelity, Adam Kraft enters her life. Adam’s attractive, kind, understanding, allows Mandy to cry on his shoulder, and he’s undeniably attracted to her. The two hit it off and genuine feelings become involved. Now Mandy must decide if she can forgive her husband or if she should take a chance on a new love.

Trouble Won’t Wait by Autumn Piper paints a vivid picture of infidelity and its’ consequences. Through Mandy we see just how destructive, painful, and humiliating infidelity can be. Mike’s affair affects not only their marriage, but their children, family, friends and even Mandy’s self-esteem. She experiences a wide range of emotions. From one minute to the next she goes from hating her husband, to loving him, to questioning whether or not she can ever forgive him, to thinking about taking him back, and so on and so forth. It was an emotional roller-coaster as well as a harrowing journey for Mandy.

Great story! Lots of sexual tension! If I caught my husband cheating, I would not have as much restraint as she did! LOL!

Ridiculously unrealistic. Lacking depth and emotions. I think it's trying to be funny but it's just not.

Wow…I stayed up till 2am reading this story. It was so emotional, so
well written (except for the one typo where Laura/Lana was concerned)
and so heartbreaking. What would you do if you walked in on your man
getting some “strange”? When I first read the blurb, I was worried that
it was going to be him getting it on with a dog or transvestite. But,
thankfully, no. It was a straight up against the car balling of your
best friends girlfriend. Yuck! But worse yet, it was in your best
friend’s garage at his Thanksgiving party with your kids in the other
room! What would I do? Grab a crow bar or equally heavy tool and whack
the crap out of his kneecaps. But, Mandy is a much sweeter, kinder
woman than I.

Mandy, Amanda, has been with Mike for 14 years. They have a 12 yr old
son and a 10yr old daughter. She works as his bookkeeper and general
homemaker, but recently decided to pursue her dream of writing. After
publishing two books, Mandy began to grow in her confidence and into
herself. The 20+ pounds she has gained being “wifey” has melted off her
as she walks and runs her neighborhood releasing tension. This tension
is eluded to more than described. But I could picture her growing
frustrations with her in-laws, her inattentive husband and her
unfulfilled relationship were wearing her down.

When she sees Mike and Lana in the garage, she literally breaks inside.
Thanksgiving afternoon, all is quiet, her house ravaged by her in-laws,
she escapes to her run. But today is different. Today, a handsome but
older man approaches her….Enter Adam. I love how he is described,
cute, dimples, slightly receding hair indicating his age…not perfect
and yet perfect for her. But then coming to her senses, Mandy realizes
that she is in a cemetery, hidden from the street and alone with a
strange man. And yet, he doesn’t feel strange, Mandy notices…I loved
their clandestine meeting! Best line at their meet cute, was Mandy to
herself: “After all, you can’t rape the willing.”

As the story unfolds, the plot is all about Mandy, her growth and her
revelations that her marriage had been less than ideal for some time.
Mike, made classic mistakes most husbands do: he took her for granted,
put less and less effort into their lovemaking, then sought out
something hot and sexy to supplement his appetites. The killer part of
this was Mandy, for all intensive purposes, was a horny little thing.
She and Mike did the deed not 1 hour before going to that fateful party
at their best friend Brad’s. Also, Mandy loved him. She admitted to
herself that she did, that she may be able to forgive and that was the
reason for the one month agreement. But also, the one month gave Mandy
time to mourn the loss of her marriage and prepare her kids for a new
life.

Adam is quite the enigma. I liked him right off, but then every so
often he would pull out a bit of crazy. Like threatening to kill Mike
if he touched Mandy, or threatening to go over there and haul Mandy and
the kids out of the house. Those seemed like red flags to me, but then
Adam would calm and Mandy would soothe him with gentle words and
promises of the future. They held true to the “letter of the law”, not
consummating their relationship while Mandy wore Mike’s ring. But,
their emotional relationship and deep connection seemed to belie any
efforts that Mandy and Mike could have made in their marriage counseling
sessions. Speaking of which, I feel sorry for Mike at many points and
actually believed him to be penitent until the counselor hit on Mandy
and he didn’t believe her. Say what? He really didn’t believe that
anyone but him could want her, desire her…

But desire her they did: from her brother’s two friends, to the
counselor, to their best friend Brad. But in the end, Mandy only had
eyes and a mending heart for Adam. I loved the twists and turns along
the way to their HEA. This book was a fantastic journey of loss, of
love and of second (and third) chances. Enjoy!

I love this book, over the years I've read it again and again, you know when sometimes you find a book that's just it, it's one of my go to books if I don't know what I fancy reading then I have my favourites which I turn to.

It's the story of a happily married couple Mandy and Mike who go round to a friends one night and she catches him having sex with his friends slutty girlfriend Lana, she's struggling since they have two children Ben and Rachel, can she throw away what's been a happy marriage with a great guy she loves, but can she get over the fact that he's cheated on her and continues to cheat on her, how can she continue to live with someone who would do that to her. On top of this, the day after the cheating she meets Adam a fantastic guy who makes her feel like there could be life after divorce, Adam makes no secret of the fact that he's been watching her run past his house and that he's very interested in her so, should she stay married, confront Mike and get a divorce or get revenge....
