3.25 Enjoyable, though I spotted a few plot holes that made it a little harder to get totally lost in the plot. I definitely enjoy Mentink's writing and will be starting another series of hers soon. Do be sure to read books 1 and 2 first to get a good sense of what's going on between the siblings.
Uncle Paul is a scammer he charms the ladies and is always looking for a get rich scheme. Ava comes home to sell Whisper Mountain Resort because they just can't afford it any longer. Uncle Paul claims to have found a way to save the resort. Before he has a chance to fill Ava in on the things he found someone abducts him in broad daylight. Not worrying about witnesses or anything else.
Luca sees it and then decides to help Ava find her Uncle and try to save Whisper Mountain. A really good book that you will enjoy. check it out I loved it
Final Resort had a strong hero, strong female characters, mystery, drama, suspense and some romance. I kept trying to guess who was the bad guy. One of my guesses was right. I did not want to put the book down till I had finshed. This was also a clean read with a little prayer and faith thrown in. Ava Stanton was meeting her Uncle Paul at the family ski resort that has been closed for years. Ava is ready to sign the papers. Her father wants her to sell. Her Uncle says he found his treasure that he can save the resort. Before Paul can say much more a guy on a snowmobile shows up and almost runs him down. Her Uncle Paul shouts to Ava to get away. The snowmobile rider shoots Paul with a taser gun and wrestles him onto the snowmobile. Ava tries to run after the snowmobile but gets knocked down onto the frozen lake. Luca Gage is on his family ski resort for a visit why they are thier to think of buying Whisper Mountain Resort if it is put up for sale. Luca remembers the good times he had thier and the beautiful Ava that he had a teenage crush on. He skies down that side of the mountain and sees a dog. He tries to follow the dog when he hears and sees the snowmobile rider tase Paul and kidnaps him. Sees Ava get knocked onto the thin ice. He texts his sister to send help and tries to rescue Ava. Luca and his family are treasure hunters. He learns that Paul might have been taken because of him looking for a treasure. He offers to help Ava find the treasure believing that it will lead to ever took her Uncle Paul. Paul is a charming man who is not honest. He always has quick money making plans but he cheats and steals from everyone so thier are plenty of people who want back at him. Ava does not want help, but Luca ,his sister & her husband are going to help anyway. I would love to read more books by Dana in the future especially if they are as good as this one. I was given this ebook to read in exchange of honest review by Netgalley. 02/05/2013 PUB Harlequin Imprint Harlequin Love Inspired Suspense 224 pages ISBN-13: 9780373445264
I completely enjoyed this book. Ava has come up to Whisper Mountain to meet with her adventure seeking uncle and sell her family's mountain home. At the meeting, her uncle is kidnapped and she literally runs into a former acquaintance Luca. Luca is now a treasure hunter and he and his family are now on the case to find the treasure Uncle Paul was abducted for. Problem is, Luca and Ava are drawn to each other and there are too many secrets between them and people willing to do anything to keep those secrets!
I liked all the characters in this book. Ava is such a wonderful character, full of love for her family and hesitation when it comes to trusting others. She has a painful past and so much heartache. Luca is such an adventurer that you have to like him. His sister and her husband add a little flare and make me want to read their story. It wasn't immediately obvious who the bad guys were but not a shock either. I liked the story line and the insight that God is there for us even when we aren't open and speaking to him. He loves us regardless.
I rate this a 4/5. I plan to read the earlier ones in the Treasure Seekers series!
Thank you to the publisher for the review copy of this book (via netgalley). I received this book in exchange for an honest review and the opinions stated above are 100% mine.
Ava watches as her uncle is kidnapped, helpless to do anything. What did he want her to find when he had asked her to meet him on top of the resorts mountain? Will treasure seeker and old friend Luca be able to help? So is the plot of this Love Inspired Suspense book. There is some religion found in the story but not enough to be called in your face.
I gave this book 4/5 stars. I liked the action even the deaths that take place add to the story. I thought the characters were not developed well and could have had more heart. I also did not like the ending. I put all this effort into following the adventure and then was let down with the completion of it. However, this is just my opinion you may still enjoy the story for what it is, a simple love story with a bit of mystery.
I would like to thank NetGalley and the publisher for the copy of this book I enjoyed reading. I gave an honest review based on my opinion of what I read.

Really interesting tale that had my attention the whole time. The pace was wonderful and the characters engaging. Great dynamic in the relationship that made it very believable. Beautiful storytelling that entertained the whole time!
It had really great flow and did the job of making me think at times. I love a book that taps into my emotions. I am a real sucker for a sexy romance!! I laugh, I cry and I wish the hero were real so he could be mine! LOL
I would love to see more from this author! Definitely one to watch in the future.
In Mentink’s love-inspired novel, Ava Stanton has no use for hidden treasures until her uncle is kidnapped. Seeking help, she approaches professional treasure hunter Luca Gage, a man she has worked hard at forgetting. Teaming together, their search for treasure pulls them closer together.
A good installment to the Treasure Seekers series.
A very enjoyable book 3 in a fun series. Now it's time for the Treasure Seekers agency to add a new staff member, maybe a cousin or something, so there can be a fourth book. I'll be sad if this is the last one!
I don’t think that it’s a spoiler to say that all three of the Gage siblings find their treasure-their treasure in God’s love and their treasure in a spouse to love. Luca and Ava’s snowy, and dangerous, adventures made me very happy to be armchair sleuthing from the comfort of my living room! Treasure Seekers is a wonderful series that I enjoyed immensely!
Love that this book had a strong female character as the lead without making it unrealistic. Everyone is not who they seem to be. Grab yourself a copy if you love romantic suspense.
I can only blame myself really. I didnt know that this imprint series whatever the effe Love Inspired is considered was the Jesus imprint. Not that I have anything against Christian romance. And its not like I HAVE to have graphic content, heavens no. *gigglesnort* Okay, that pun was not intended, and I apologize for it. I just generally avoid it because well Ive been burned before.
See, for me, the main criteria for a romance of any genre is the feeling that the characters at least like each other. It doesnt have to be right away. Hell they can spend 90% of the book thinking they hate the other person while ignoring their butterflies. But at some point, Im going to want to have the sense that the characters have hit that point where even if its unlikely, they want to spend more time with the other person.
I didnt get that here.
What I did get was that these two characters knew each other as teenagers, always kind of had a crush on the other, and then spent under a week searching for treasure and missing uncles together. Then end up together, of course, because Well I dont know why actually
Because God put this person from their past back in their path I guess.
Listen I run into lots of people I knew from high school. That doesnt mean were meant to be. It means I live in the same town I grew up in
Now, I cant say this is true for every Christian romance, I can only tell you that its a trend in the ones Ive read. Maybe I havent given the genre a fair shake, and if there are Christian romances you just love then PLEASE send me any and all recommendations because there are times where Im honestly like ugh another scene with boots knocking? Really? and would love a fall back genre.
Back onto Final Resort though.
So I wasnt feeling the whole relationship and honestly I didnt get a very good feel on either of the main characters. They felt a bit err generic to me But what I can say is that the mystery was
Okay, it was kind of generic too. Like there were a couple of moments where I was all oh you mentioned that lemme guess in three pages were going to have some CRAZY scene with yup there it is.
2.5 stars. There was nothing wrong with it. Not really. Aside from Ava being called something different every other page. It was just kind of blah.
This was an okay read but my least favorite in the series.
Ava Stanton's uncle is kidnapped at her family's defunct resort before he was able to tell her about a treasure he has in his possession. She is hoping the find is worth enough to save and restore the family resort on Whisper Mountain.
Luca is a skiing friend of Ava's from long ago and it has been a while since they have seen each other when he shows up at Whisper Mountain. By profession Luca is a Treasure Hunter along with his brother and sister. He promises to help her find the treasure if there really is one.
Ava is a tortured soul and seems to be content wallowing in self pity and living in the past with a constant dose of woe is me. She became very tiring after the first couple of chapters and I had hoped she would come around by the halfway point but that was not to be. I have to say I was disappointed in the story. Luca was such a good man and he cared deeply for her but he continued to receive nothing in return.
Recap… in the first book of the series, Brooke Ramsey meets Victor Gage… in the second book, Victor’s sister Stephanie is reunited with Tate Fuego… and in the third (and final) book, their brother Luca is reunited with Ava Stanton.
What happens when Ava’s uncle is kidnapped – and she must rely on Luca Gage and his family to help her? Can she trust him? Can she trust anyone?
Time and again, Luca comes to Ava’s rescue. Oops… okay, I have to stop – or I could give away some really good twists and turns in this story!
So I’ll stop now, but don’t miss out on this great mystery – if you are reading the series, you can read any of the books in any order – but it’s much better (in my opinion) if you start at the beginning, with Lost Legacy, then continue with Dangerous Melody and end the series with Final Resort.
And don’t forget to read all about Mack Dog… he’s a great character! Dana Mentink excels at creating interesting, realistic characters – and keeps the excitement going – and their stories continue throughout the series.
We learn *nothing* about the heroine except that she insists on laughing off the amusing antics of her con-man uncle (aka the scoundrel, rascal, etc.) despite his decades of being a slimy and manipulative THIEF.
It's OK that Uncle Paul destroyed her parents' marriage, stole her inheritance, and made enemies of ALL their family, friends and neighbors by stealing THEIR money, because he's just so "charming." And, of course, he's *~*FAMILY*~*, which means he gets a pass for EVERYTHING.
GAH. Ava is almost as TSTL as the "heroine" in Susan Mallery's Summer Days. I felt ZERO compassion about her uncle's abduction, and I saw ZERO potential for respecting Ava as a character by the end of the book. I just wanted to smack her.
NOTE: I read a digital review copy provided by the publisher via NetGalley.
Treasures of the heart, love, family, or worldly. Which will you chose? Hopefully the best treasure of all. Ava returns to Whisper Mountain, a ski resort, to sell it. Her Uncle Paul tells her he can save it. But he is abducted, dies and a treasure hunt follows. The plot thickens again and again as Luca tries to help Ava solve the mystery of her Uncle's death. But Ava questions his motives over and over gain. Danger lies ahead for Ava and Luca. So many times their lives hang in the balance. Ava would never believe it could be some of the people for she has known them for a long time. Finally they think they have the treasure. Lives again at stake over 3 romance novels. Not the treasure. The treasure is found but Ava and Luca do not want it. They have found the real treasure money cannot buy.
I won this book with goodreads first reads so first off I would like to say thanks. I enjoyed reading this book, full of action it tells the story of Ava who goes back to her childhood home whisper mountain to meet her Uncle Paul who has another treasure quest money plans, so like the hundred of other he has had or so she thought but things don't go to plan when her uncle is kidnapped right in front of her and her old friend Luca, now a professional treasure hunter and a man she tried so hard to forget comes back to lend a hand. Good fast paced book worth reading.
I really like the overall story of Luca and Ava's reunion after meeting in high school. The wrong turns Uncle Paul sent them on for the "pearl," were an entertaining twist. I just wish Victor had a more significant role.
Actually gave 3.5 rating. I liked the pace and the premise of the story. Ava had a tendency toward whining but other than that she was a blast to read. Luca's adventures were enough to give me a heart attack. The two together were the perfect match.
I felt like I was watching a Scooby-Doo mystery. Twists and turns, suspense and the like. It was an easy read. There were a few elements in this book that made you ponder things about life.
