Tom’s first novel, “When the Siren Calls”, is published in two parts. The first, a “Prequel” is a stand alone short story which introduces the headstrong heroine, the rich and beautiful but neglected Isobel, and the moment her slumbering sexuality is awakened by the mysterious Jay. The second book, follows Isobel’s search for emotional fulfillment as she pursues Jay to Tuscany on the pretext of buying a holiday home, and abandons all her sexual inhibitions in the cinematic love affair of her dreams. But all is not as it seems, and Isobel finds herself trapped in a nightmare of deception and betrayal.

A published writer at University, Tom Barry spent 20 years in management consultancy with Accenture, Deloitte, and PwC, advising the Boards of leading global brands such as Apple, Disney, Toyota and Vodafone. I received When the Siren Calls from NetGalley for an honest review. Upon seeing the beautiful cover, and then reading the synopsis I decided to take a chance on this one. Now, you know what they say about judging a book by its cover and the saying goes both ways… In this case, the cover was beautiful but the book just didn’t live up to it. I’m sorry to say I was disappointed with When the Siren Calls.

When the Siren Calls is told in the third person with each chapter changing focus to a different character. The main story follows Isobel, an unhappy housewife, and Jay, a womanizing sleaze-ball businessman trying to dig his way out of an upside down business deal.

Upon reading a few chapters and getting to know some of the characters a bit, one thing was glaringly apparent--I was not connecting with ANY of the characters. When I read, it is critical that I be able to relate in some way to at least one character. In When the Siren Calls, the emotional charge was just not there. It wasn’t there in the relationships; it wasn’t there in the sex. There was no spark of empathy, compassion, or any foreseeable prospect of me relating to any of the characters. They all seemed very drab and mundane to me, which is the exact opposite of the seemingly rich, glamorous, and exciting people I expected to encounter. The things that they all had in common were wealth, lies, deceit, sex, and cheating. Redeeming qualities? Nill. The only relationship that I enjoyed reading about was the friendship between Isobel and Maria. Unfortunately, I didn't even care for that until later in the book. Maria was herself a rich, entitled cheater, but she was straightforward and honest with Isobel--always; even if it seemed harsh and unsupportive.

Based on my review thus far, you'll understand that I had a very hard time getting through this book. I wanted to put it down several times but persevered and finished it with much relief that it did, in fact, get better in the latter third. At that point, the pace picked up and some interesting developments started to happen. Unfortunately, by that point the average reader has probably moved onto another book.

I wanted to like this book. It had all the right ingredients for a great read but it just didn’t deliver. In the end, the characters felt flat, the sex scenes too short and unexciting, the relationships flimsy, and the resolution anti-climactic. If you’ve read the book, I’d love to know your thoughts!

Isobel Roberts leads a posh life devoid of passion. This lack of passion is suddenly becomes her sole focus after she meets Jay by chance. Months unfold before the two are reunited and able to explore her feelings.
I could not justifiably give this book anything less than four stars. It was well written, the pacing was flawless and I did manage to lose myself in it.

I read someone state that this book is the thinking woman's Fifty. I can agree to that. It is a much better written book. While not a love story, or even heavy erotica like Fifty was intended to be, the reader can not just lie back and let the events unfold. This is not something that the reader can just let wash over them. The author did heavy research and there is a fair amount of connecting the dots that the reader must do.
Also I might add, Jay for all of his flaws, is not a one note man like Christian Grey. The man certainly knows how to mix it up in the bedroom.

I spent 90% of the book hating Jay. It's only when he loses everything that I came to identify with the man. The same can be said of Isobel. During the final scene between her and the two men in her life I wanted to stand up and cheer for her. I knew how Isobel felt for Jay from her scenes in the book. However, the writer never lets us see Jays true motivation when it comes to her. For the other women it is perfectly clear what Jay wants from them. He has his wife, Rusty, for money and comfort. He fears divorcing her because of their prenup. Lucy is clearly around because of her looks and her sexual prowess. I think he has affection for Lucy but not enough to stop himself from stringing her along.

The scenes in Italy were by far my favorite. I hung onto every detail when the characters where romping around in this beautiful background. Everything seemed clearer when they were there. It was only when Isobel returned home that doubts would slip in. It becomes very clear that Jay is taking advantage of a lot of people throughout the book.
Overall, I found this book engaging and fun to read. I recommend it to anyone who wants to read a slightly erotic non-romance romance book. It is definitely worth a shot if you are tired of the plug and play contemp romances.

This story focuses on relationships: within marriage, between business partners, between friends and lovers - and describes how lies and discontent can ruin relationships and the lives of those involved.

Isobel, married for fifteen years to workaholic high-flier, Peter, has a chance meeting in Marrakech with Jay, a wheeler-dealer property investor, who is looking for funding for his dodgy tourist complex in Tuscany. While nothing happens between Isobel and Jay, she finds him hard to forget and, when invited to a presentation of his tourism project, she is unable to resist attending. Her discontent with what she sees as an unsatisfactory marriage, sexually and in respect of her husband’s addiction to his work, leaves her vulnerable to Jay’s obvious attractions.

Jay’s life is an unrelenting mixture of juggling marriage to Rusty and his responsibilities to their children with his mistress, Lucy, and his desire for Isobel, while Isobel is hung up with the whole issue of infidelity at the same time as desiring Jay.

With a brilliant opening in Marrakech, and set in the beautiful scenery of Tuscany and Middle England, these characters play out their lives against rising tension in the Tuscan tourist complex between the local Italian population and the mainly British owners of apartments and houses within the complex, who discover they’ve been taken for a ride by Jay’s property company.

Tightly written and with a cast of strong characters who, while not particularly pleasant are certainly memorable, this novel is a potent and thoroughly enjoyable mix of sex, romance and big, bad business.

This book took me quite a while to get into, and honestly I never really did. All the business aspects included made it very difficult for me to dive into the world created. I didn't really connect with any of the characters and when that happens, I find it very hard to enjoy reading.

First off, Jay...Jay was an insatiable asshole. He seemed to screw or want to screw every woman he came in to contact with. All he cared about was himself and had no redeeming qualities in my eyes.

Isobel was just as bad. If she had just grown a backbone in the beginning and told her husband how she felt she might have been a little more likeable to me.

At first I thought that Lucy was a conniving bitch. But the more I read, the more I understood where she was coming from. She turned out to be my favorite character from When the Siren Calls.

This book did redeem itself in the last chapter or so. I was thrilled that every character got exactly what was coming to them, whether it was good or bad.

I had read some great reviews on this book and seen some where it's comparison to Christian Grey. The cover was just stunning. I readily jumped on the band wagon.

I can honestly say that I only got maybe 4 or 5 chapters into the book and was not able to go any further. I attempted to read this multiple times. The book was rather confusing, no real character chemistry, and it did not seem anything like an erotica or Christian Grey I had every read.

Unfortunately I had to place this on my first did not finish shelf. I usually try really hard to finish a book, but I was not able to do that with this one. Please don't let my review stop you from picking up the book, everyone has different taste and you may completely enjoy it.

I was provided with this book from the publisher for free via Net Galley in exchange for an honest review, thank you!

Wow great book!
The book opens with Isobel going out by herself shopping into a bazaar in Marrakech after an argument with her husband Peter . The author describes the scene that ensues so well that you can visually picture her surroundings and taste her fear while she is being harassed fIrst by the beggar children and then by a group of demanding, groping arabic men . Isobel is saved by Jay Brooke a handsome business man she is instantly attracted to.

Isobel and Peter return home to England but Isobel can not stop thinking about Jay so when an invitation arrives to attended an evening out looking at and discussing Jays time share business in Tuscany , Isobel talks Peter into going, then talks him into following Jay to Tuscany to look at the apartments.

Peter more engrossed with his business efforts than his wife leaves Tuscany and Isobel behind giving her and Jay the opportunity to grow their relationship, which flourishes, for Isobel it is the first time in years she feels passion and wanted.
Jay would not be so bad if he was not already married, if he already did not have a mistress and was not running a huge scam with his time share scheme. He is not only scamming the purchasers of the timeshares but he also has scammed and old freind into putting up all the money do the development of the site. Everything eventually comes to a head and Peter finally gets a clue.

Your taken on an emotional roller coaster ride thoughout the book with Isobel and at times you actuall feel
Sympathy for Jay to spite all he represents. The main characters all have money but are lacking so much in there lives, the end of the book was suprise I did not expect. I believe anyone who has been married for a long time or in a relationship for a long time can to some degree relate to one of these charachters and what drives them to seek excitement, but were as we stop before crossing that line the author takes you over the line.

Thought provoking, some vividly descriptive scenes that catch you and draw you in!

I got this book through Netgalley. Thank you very much Netgalley! ;)

First of all, I want to clear something up. It didn't take me 3 months to read this book. I actually read it in 7 days. It's just that I hadn't had much time to read, so, that's why my starting and ending dates are so far off. Considering that I read it in a week, I can say it's a fast paced book.

I didn't read any reviews before reading the book. I was drawn to it by the title and the cover! (those 9 months were worth it Tom Barry! he he he) After reading it, what I get from the cover is that all the characters are sirens drowning in their own ocean of defects.

This one is not a love story. This is a story of infidelity, lies, deception, betrayal, lust and desire. It also teaches you how not to fall in the trap of timeshare businesses in a foreign country.

Isobel had it all, yet she wasn't content with it. She played the role of the desperate housewife that fell in the player's trap. Well player doesn't even cover it. Jay is the jerk, man-whore, douchebag, scum (you get the idea) that makes Isobel want to change her lonely sexless life behind.

Tuscany plays an important role in this book. The detailed description of the place makes you want to travel to be there under the warm Italian sun.

I can't say that I loved this book but I can't say that I hate it either. It was a good read. Although I would've wanted a little more action in the end, especially from Peter. Since this is a trilogy, maybe that's the whole point of leaving you wanting more in the end.

The ending was unexpected for me but left me with the feeling that everyone got what they deserved.

Moral of the Story: Beware when the sirens call.

I reviewed this book from NetGally for my honest opinion.

Let me start the review by stating that since I live in the states and have never traveled outside of them I needed a lot of description to get me the picture of where and what Capadelli was. I felt that part was the hardest for me about this book. I wish some of the description was as well placed as Lucy's and her "I'm the slut with the long legs and tight arse."

The ending was a pleasant surprise. Even though it kind of ended suddenly. Here I was waiting for this big blow up meeting with Peter, Jay, Andy and BB&T guys. I wasn't sure that Isobel was a strong enough character until that last chapter.

It as a very easy quick read. The Author kept the suspense up to the very last page. I think the sex should of been a little more detailed. Less listening to her talk about what they did. More describing as it is being done. The book is after all labeled in the erotic genres.

Even though I am only giving it a 3 star rating I am very interested in the next book of the series to see where Jay is headed.

I didn't know what a "Prequel" was - now i do ! This is a short story, about three chapters, and i read it in one sitting. It is clearly intended to be a free teaser to interest you in the main book. It worked, i'm hooked, and i just bought the full book on amazon.

If you've ever been in a souk in the middle east, which the author obviously has, you will readily relate to this story, and identify with the protagonist and her plight. If you've never been in a souk, you'll think you have by the time you've finished, because the sights and sounds and smells are brought vividly to life. I won't spoil the plot, but the story teases you along with twists and turns that keep you guessing, and is beautifully written. It also titillates the senses. Just hoping the full book is as good as the Prequel.

First of all, i'm not a big reader. Having quite a fast paced job, i find it hard to get into books in the 10 mins standing on the tube or squashed into the 25 bus on the way to work.

This little prequel has made me think it will probably be worth it. Let's put it this way, it made me miss my stop! The opening is fast paced and edgy, the heroine Isobel basically could BE me and i loved reading about the haunting streets of Marrakech in this prequel. Having been there, i can tell you Tom Barry has got it spot on.

The characters are good and 3D and i must say i definitely fancy the mysterious Jay! Definitely giving off a Christian Grey vibe(the hottie from 50 shades of grey for those of you living in outer Siberia).

Gagging for the rest of the book! Definitely think Tom Barry is the one to watch!

I enjoyed this debut novel by Tom Barry. I was able to visualise the luscious Tuscan landscapes and connect with the characters. The story kept me turning the pages. I think it's particularly interesting that Tom's central character is female, as he is writing a woman's point of view from a man's perspective. I was also intrigued by the business aspects of the story as business is not something I know much about so even though I was a bit lost with all the corporate shinnagans for a while, I figured out what was going on and I'm pleased to have read something a bit different from what I'm used to. I look forward to the next part of the story!

This is a 6,000 word (three chapter) prequel - a lead-in to the main book. It certainly got me interested enough to be constantly checking whether the full book is available. The description is evocative and builds tension invisibly, while the characters are believable and well-rounded.
My only criticism of the prequel is that it doesn't deliver enough to satisfy the reader - which is, I suppose, why they call it a teaser!
The nice thing about this sort of sample is you can 'try before you buy'. My advice: Go on, just try it. It's not like you're being unfaithful or anything...

"When The Siren Calls", by Tom Barry, is the first book in a trilogy.
The intriguing storyline revolves around the precarious personal and professional lives of the characters. The plot twists involve lies, betrayal, money, power and sex.
I found it difficult to find redeeming qualities in any of the characters portrayed in this book and wanted to smack a few of them at times.
However, the author's writing kept me absorbed in the story and the surprise ending was ideal.
I look forward to where Mr. Barry takes this story in the next novel.

I don't know how to categorize this one. I got through half of it and finally gave up. It has a little romance, sex, and some intrigue. But it really wasn't for me. The writing was too much for me. I was bored mostly and I cared very little for all the characters. I gave it 2 stars because I do think there is an audience out there for this type of book, it just wasn't me. Too many business discussions made my eyes want to cross. I just didn't care to read anymore.

Wow...to say a book has gotten me a riled up would be an understatement...actually on second thought 'riled up' would be the appropriate term to describe how I was after reading this great book.

First off, I have to give a big THANK YOU to the author Tom Barry for enabling people such as myself the opportunity to receive this book for free. It was generous of him to do so and just wanted to convey how much I appreciate it.

This book is about a married woman, Isobel, who feels stuck in a rut of a marriage. She feels frustrated being in a passion-less marriage with a husband who seems more excited being on his cell phone (which Isobel has a hilarious nickname for) making business transactions than having a romantic night out with his wife. Then on a trip to Tuscany, she meets a charismatic man, Jay, with whom she feels a strong attraction to. Thus leading to a dilemma: to go against what she has believed is against her nature and start an affair with the alluring Jay or stay faithful to her seemingly oblivious workaholic husband?

If you're thinking this is just your run of the mill 'to have or not to have an affair' story with an aura of Fifty Shades of Grey then you are selling this debut novel from Mr. Barry short. It is a well written story of a woman wrestling with her own morality against her desires. The characters are in depth, with no clear good guy/bad guy (although I have to admit, I don't like Jay very much; even before finishing the book). Barry does a good job illustrating the romanticism and exhilaration of being taken in by passion, but also the strain on one's emotions and the confusion it can leave you with. It makes you both admonish Isobel for the affair but you also feel the turmoil within her mind about it.

There is an aspect of the story that may leave you wondering 'how does this fit into the story?' or 'what is the point of this?' - which I felt while reading. It isn't until you get to the latter half of the book where it becomes clear how it fits in the story. And I thought it was a great way to have Isobel confront her situation and pave the way for her to come to the decision she makes in the end.

The only thing I have a hard time with the book is how I never really understood the reason for why Jay fell in love with Isobel. All I got from him was the sexual attraction he felt and possibly the dominant hold he seemed to have over her. Otherwise, I would've like more clarification on how he came to love her. It just seemed false to me.

This is a great debut novel from Tom Barry. It's not a one sided story and like the characters in the book, the story has many sides to it. It is well written and has left me wanting to read the sequel to the book, which shifts the focus on Jay's story.

I really wanted to like this book. I read some of the reviews and saw the cover (yes, I do judge my romance novels by their covers) and I was excited to read another captivating romance. I was not captivated. I had a very difficult time reading this book. There seemed to be so much going on at once and I often felt that some parts of the story lines were lacking. I am willing to admit that I haven't read a lot of literature from English authors so there might be some cultural idiosyncrasies that may not have come across well.
The author does do a wonderful job of describing Tuscany (the main setting of the story); I could envision the vineyards and the cobblestone streets as I was reading. He also has a vast vocabulary and I found myself every so often wishing that I performed better on my SAT's and didn't have to keep looking up different words to understand what he was trying to convey.
I found that most of the romantic entanglements seemed to be glossed over. Just when you think you are getting to the good bits, the author has fast forward to another scene. This was true with all of the romantic liaisons except for the one with Isobel and Jay in chapter 37. I don't know if this is the norm for all English prose, but as an avid reader of romance I want to be a voyeur. I want to be swept away by the passion and romance. When I am reading a great story, I am so caught up that the characters seem real. I have to know will happen next. I didn't feel that with this novel. I wanted there to be a happy ending I wanted there to be some redeeming quality to Jay. I wanted Isobel to find her true passion in a forbidden romance or maybe discover that there could be a deeper truer love with her husband Peter. I felt that was what I was promised by the brief description given, but that wasn't what was delivered.
I did find that the author seemed to find his footing a little more than halfway through the story. It was at that point that I felt drawn in. However, I was disappointed when it came to the ending. It seemed a little unrealistic that all of a sudden Isobel has a back bone, when there didn’t seem to be an indication that through her turmoil she found an underlying strength in the process.

I received When the Siren Calls from NetGalley for an honest review.
I heard that the book was a bit "50 Shades", which I have not read (I know, I'm one of the few) and was curious to see what all the hype was about.
I've never read anything by this author, and am always interested in expanding my horizons.
I'm not 100% sure I know how to feel about When the Siren Calls. While it was well written, the descriptions putting the reader right into the scenes, the characters were pretty controversial for my taste.
We meet Isobel Roberts, a rich, beautiful, well preserved, bored and vain woman who is tired of being ignored by her workaholic husband.
In steps Jay, the suave playboy who literally rescues from harm and boredom.
Now let me tell you about Jay. Jay, the man-whore. Jay, who not only cheats on his wife, but highly recommends that everyone else do so as well. Jay is just bad. Bad, inside and out. As in, a complete jerk.
There is a lot of sex in the story, however it is more sensual than erotic. Not overly-detailed or "too much".
One character I really enjoyed was Lucy. I love Lucy. I know I shouldn't but I do. Eventually, Isobel discovers that Jay is only sleeping with her in order to cheat her and Peter out of money, and what does she do??? She continues to sleep with him! What is wrong with this woman's self esteem? She eventually finds some by the way.
I found the pace of the novel to be well-paced. The ending was a complete shock. I did not even guess the book would end the way it did, and I may have to read the sequel for some closure.

Note: I won through LibraryThing Member giveaways.

Isobel, trapped in a stifling marriage, seeks excitement and freedom when she receives an invitation from the charismatic Jay to visit his Tuscan resort. Despite her husband's objections, she heads to Tuscany under the pretense of searching for a holiday home. There, she embarks on a passionate affair with Jay, pushing her sexual boundaries under his encouragement.

However, the idyllic Tuscan retreat holds secrets, and Isobel becomes entangled in a web of deception and betrayal. She finds herself in a dangerous love triangle, unsure if Jay is her savior or her enemy. As her world unravels, she must make a choice between the woman she used to be and the woman she has become.

I was first intrigue by this book solely because of the cover and then I read the description and thought why not. Well, it was 50 Shades of Grey gone wrong.

The characters were overly annoying. There was nothing redeeming about Isobel, she was purely spoiled and naïve. She does everything in her power to act stupid and get into dumb situations. Jay is just a jerk, and NOT in a good way. Basically everything he says is just to get into her pants and his choice of career is less than honorable. There was just nothing to the characters making nothing come out of their relationships. This should not be described as romance either, its just something else entirely.

After trying to win this book several times through the goodsreads giveaways, the author offered me a free copy of the novel via netgalley.com. I appreciate his kindness and really enjoyed the book.

As I am not a world traveler there were a few situations that were slightly confusing to me, and I wish that Isobel had met Jay in England rather than Turkey as I think that is the one part of the book I really didn't enjoy that much. The rest is a well written noire. While the plot of the story is indeed character driven, there are parts of the novel that are so beautifully written they could serve in any travel guide of Italy in particular. The author wrote so well you could almost smell and feel the air around you as you were reading. The characters, while at times despicable and self-centered did come across the page as real humans and you wanted to keep turning the pages to see what would happen next. I particularly enjoyed the ending which came as a complete shock and give kudos to the author for not settling with a sterotypical ending.

I was intrigued at first by the concept of this book, especially the notion of an older woman escaping to Italy for an affair. However, I would probably describe this as semi-erotica for several reasons. Firstly, it took far too long to get the premise of the book, the hook that was promised in the synopsis. Secondly, the book was focused too much on the issues to do with the business that the romance took a back seat. I knew a lot more about holiday home scams than who Jay actually is.

The characters were far too unlikable to get into the story. There are no redeeming qualities about Jay, who seems content to be a lothario and unethical at business. The sex scenes were lukewarm at best. No real chemistry between any of the characters and while there were a couple of shock scenarios thrown in, they tended to 'fade out'. I personally won't be reading the sequel and if you're looking for a captivating erotica book, this isn't for you.

I first read the teaser from Amazon and I really liked the premise but as the story moved forward, I found myself losing interest in the story. Try as I might I can't find it in me to connect to any of the characters. Jay is too suave, I see him as this oily, up to no good scoundrel who thinks he's so cool. And Isobel, your husband is obviously not in to you so why wallow and debase yourself with Jay? Either you get out or you try and fix it. Don't stay in the middle.

I guess I'll never really find out Barry's objective or the point of the story because the road towards the end is challenging for me as a reader. I suppose I'm suppose to feel the lure of Jay's world and the freedom it offers Isobel but there was something "off" about the whole thing that reading it has become a chore.

This book has a great cover! The business mystery part is interesting, and there is some adult romance throughout; however I would not put this novel in the erotica genre. The luxurious settings are pretty well described, but most of the major male characters need a little work to make them more likeable. Maybe Jay will have some redeeming qualities revealed in the next one. Overall, the book was put together well and is gritty enough to feel quite realistic.

The cover of When the Siren Calls by Tom Barry sold me before I read the e-mail pitch. The cover is beautiful. The woman on the cover looks mysterious. She's floating in the water. She's barely above the surface of the water. She's about to drown. Is she drowning literally or figuratively? I wanted to know.

The story opens with Isobel trying to navigate the streets of Marrakech, Morrocco. Aggressive merchants in the marketplace are preventing her from leaving, until a dashing stranger saves the day. Jay whisks Isobel away and takes her back to her hotel.

I have to say that at first this book was really hard for me to get into. There was a lot of business and explanation of everything before it got to the romance part of it. I didn't really connect with any of the characters and Jay was a little hard to like, but in the end I did end up liking this book and would read the next one. My favorite character was Lucy even though I know I shouldn't like her. I didn't have much faith in Isobel, but she did surprise me along the way. All in all it was entertaining and an interesting read. I appreciate the opportunity to read this through NetGalley in exchange for an honest review. Thanks Tom!

I was hoping for something much more than what I got.
I was not drawn in at all I wanted to like it I really did but just couldn't get pulled in.

I don't have an issue reading about cheating but I know many do. I didn't like Jay at all and I doubt anyone who has read this book will like the guy.

It did leave you on a tad cliffhanger but for me it wasn't enough to make me want the next book.

I have read other books where there was a "pyramid scheme" and this was a smidg different but there was still a scam and that was the main topic of the book, it over took the entire storyline, and like the last one I read that was similar I just wasn't a big fan.

The prequel to Tom Barry's highly-anticipated novel opens with a woman wandering lost and tormented in the souk in Marrakesh, Morocco. And lost Isobel is, in many ways. Although just a taste of the novel due in November, this short sample is a fascinating story with an intriguing female lead. Barry has done an excellent job of hooking this reader with a taste of what's to come. Men sometimes have trouble writing from a woman's point of view, but he's captured Isobel's frustration and longing for "more" perfectly. I can't wait to find out where the story goes.

I won this book on LibraryThing's giveaway. It was a light reading. The story is set in England, Italy, Marrocos and USA. The places are beautifully described. The character feel real. But what made me give 3 stars is that I didn't like very much all the talk about Jay's business and I missed some hot sex scenes. There are, don't mistake me, but T.B. closed the door on my face before the end, if you get my meaning.
I did enjoy the way T.B. sets the scenes in Marrakech and Tuscany, specially the opening of the book. It really did it for me.

Disclosure: This ebook was provided to me free of charge through NetGalley for the sole purpose of an honest review. All thoughts, comments, and ratings are my own.

Let me begin by saying I do not like stories about cheating. That is one of my hard limits!

This book was well written and intriguing regardless of my opinion of the subject matter.

I never could really connect with Isobel. And Jay wasn't much better for me.

It really wanted to be s sensual read but just came off smarmy in my opinion. Still I would give the author a shot on another book!

I'm glad I had a chance to read this book. If you just homed in on the title you would think this book was all about sex - it wasn't. The book was more complex and dealt with other human issues as well. It was a love story but the love was not fulfilled in the end (ready for the next book in the series?). The conclusion was not what was expected and the themes were weightier than the title would suggest. Interesting reading.

I'm not sure if I really enjoyed this book. The inner look at relationships, A deep view into the personal lives of the characters, Their unhappy marriages, still unhappy while cheating, unhappy in business. On one hand it reads like a book on business, and on the other, it's like a full on smut novel. I think this is a reason men shouldn't write romance. They turn it into something dirty. It's interesting to see how each person handles their situation, but at the same time, there are just long, drawn out parts you have to struggle through. It wasn't a horrible read, just, eh. Just there.
