Rylie Cruz loves playing matchmaker. She even does it full-time at her matchmaking service, Get a Mate. Since she’s a werewolf, she feels that gives her expertise when dealing with the paranormal crowd.
When Rylie’s best friend, Jennifer Matthews, asks her to set her up on a date, Rylie is hesitant. Jennifer hasn’t had luck in the dating department lately.
But when a good-lucking man shows up looking for a date, Rylie thinks Jennifer might be his perfect match. The date turns to hell though when Jennifer displays outrageous mood swings and a new shocking fashion sense.
When Jennifer disappears, Rylie fears the worst. Things get even stranger when a mysterious demon hunter shows up looking for Jennifer. He claims he wants to help Rylie find her friend. Rylie’s boyfriend, Jack Chandler, is trying to save Rylie from the demon hunter, but she isn’t sure she needs to be saved.
Rylie has to find her friend before it’s too late and Jennifer’s swooped off for a staycation in forever damnation.

I don't see how Rylie can find any more trouble. It seems to follow her everywhere . I sometimes wish she wasn't such a smart ass. There are a few times I'm thinking she waste more time arguing then she needs to. I do like everyone and like the actual story. Her and Jake seem to be turning into a nice couple. I am looking toward to moving on to the next book
Love Rylie her quick wit , kind heart and loyalty to those she loves also love her bff Jennifer , boyfriend Jack , as well as Quinton and Cole also Lily can't wait read next adventure
I'm close to have read all of Roses books. They are fun, easy reading. I have enjoyed the characters in Roses books. I love the paranormal, so finding these books were a plus! Read them all, you'll be happy that you did
Another wonderful addition to Rose Pressey's "How to Date [INSERT PARANORMAL HERE]" series. What?? You havent started this delightful series? Girlfriend, stop, drop that OTHER paranormal cozy and run on over to Amazon to get the 1st & 2nd Rylie Cruz books now! *quietly waiting while eating a BLT* got them? OK now you will be prepared for her south-bound turn on a north-bound one-way street. Apparenty for New Orleans this is a perfectly acceptable driving habit, albeit a metaphoric tool of mine involving the realm of story telling in this case.
Rylie has a successful match making business for a client base with very specific needs. After all if you're a paranorm-chaser knowing a few hints; such as always carry an emergency stash of beef jerky when dating those of the "will turn hairy an irrational at the full moon or if you piss me off" persuasion, will come in handy! She also boasts 100% guarantee at her match making prowess! Other than the psycho quasi redneck she-wolf who is a couple if prescriptions shy of the local looney-bins requirements for entrances! Nor will we hold it against her for getting her boyfriend accidentally changed into a vampire either! After all hes only half-vamp oh umm and I think we can look the other way about her roommates boyfriend having the same malady befall him..accidents happen right? plus as it turns out he was....oh wait that would be a spoiler tsk tsk!
This little dating paranorms 101 jaunt has us following Rylie chasing her demon marinated roomie around with the help of a very steamy stranger while attempting to avoid wedding planning for the pyscho ex-customer and new neighbor next door. She better figure out quickly how she'll do it, whose the bad guys, and what not to wear to the ball or the normal steamy New Orleans night on the town will seem like a midnight jaunt in the wilds of Alaska! (and this I can attest to).
I'm a Rose Pressey fan-girl and am in love with Rylie despite her need to shave often and her obsession for porcelain figurines! What is she thinking? How is she going to break the "curse". What curse do I speak of?? Start reading, Sweetie and fall in love with just one if the fantastic series Rose has going!!
I liked this book but it is not my favorite of the series. The writing is straight forward as it always is in these books. The characters are well established though some are so shadowy as to not make you sure what is going on with them. Then you have them talking in a way you sometimes wonder if they are adults or kids playing at being an adult. I did think it was a bit over long and dragged out the action when it could have been ended two chapters earlier because some of the stuff tacked on at the end felt more like filler.
Rylie's best friend and roommate Jennifer has been acting strange since she came back with Jack after his brush with the vampires, but she ignores it. Then she sees that Jennifer's eyes seem to be glowing red after she breaks up with her cop/vampire boyfriend because he is married. When Jennifer asks Rylie to set her up on a date she is reluctant but agrees and as luck would have it the perfect guy seems to walk into her office that same day. And thus begins a chain of events that will test the friendship and resources of Rylie and Jennifer both.
With her best friend possessed by a demon Rylie has no idea of what to do, then a man walks in claiming to be a demon hunter and looking for Jennifer. Over the advise of boyfriend Jack and his vampire sponsor Quinton she allows this guy to lead her around the city searching for Jennifer. What Rylie does not know is that more is going on than she has any idea about and it is all leading to major trouble for her.
This was a fun read but had its moments of drag where you just wanted them to get on with it. It made me smile once in a while but there was nothing really absorbing about it. And Rylie worked my nerves a great deal worrying about her relationship when she was clearly doing everything to put it in danger. If you really like the previous books then read this for the wrap-up otherwise...
Like the first two Rylie Cruz books, I'll give this one three stars. But honestly it's barely hanging in there with a low three, maybe even a high two. It might be because I read the compilation and therefore all three books back to back, but this one began to feel VERY formulaic. So much so that I'd swear Ms. Pressey cut and pasted passages from one book to another! Despite that, I still found disruptive inconsistencies in the story. For example, Jack is referred to as a half-vampire at the beginning of this book, but at the end of book two Quentin turned him from a half-vamp to a full-vamp to save his life. A big deal was kinda made of it. Then at the end of this book he's referred to as a vampire. So, um, which is it? Or the way, in this book, Rylie's curse is said to affect the "first daughter born to each man in the Cruz family," but in the previous books it was the "youngest daughter." So again, which is it? This kind of thing yanks me right out of a story. As do the typos.
As for the story itself, it was ok. I'm not calling it horrible or anything. But I was just so tired of it all. It began to remind me of the opening credits of a Benny Hill episode, Rylie randomly running from one place to another, usually with someone following her. (Just like in the first two books.) Meh. Then I reached the end and a cheesy cackling baddie who claimed, "You walked right into my trap." Really? If that's the case she should have realistically done that on about page 8 and saved me 240 pages of aimlessness. Plus, he/she was defeated really, REALLY easily. Meh.
This is a cute clean series, with a little romance in the first two (not so much in this one). But this one fell down for me. Again, meh. It's the best I can say for it.
This is the third book in this series and it will be the last one I read. I just cannot take any more Rylie Cruz. She's constantly being a bitch when there is just no need for it and I have no idea how someone has not just punched her in the face before now. I like feisty, strong female characters in my books, but she is just a nasty girl with no real reason, such as a bad childhood, to explain her constant bad attitude. She's not even a good werewolf to make up for it either.
The actual plot of this book was good - this time Jennifer, Rylie's flatmate gets possessed by a demon who wants to steal her soul and send her to hell. Rylie will do anything possible to save her friend and there are several twists to the bad guys. She is constantly running all over New Orleans trying to find out where Jennifer is and to try and get information about the demon. She is helped out by a demon hunter, to whom she is really nasty - he should have hit her. (I don't generally condone violence against women, but she is one I would agree on this time round!).
Overall a good plot with poorly written characters and a fair few editing/spelling errors. Not going to be a series I will continue though. Had enough of Miss Bad Attitude now!
First dates can be hell - chosing the right outfit, accessories, and best topics of conversation - and when you add a day when you just don't feel like yourself; well, welcome to Jennifer's world! After yet another disasterous romance, Jennifer turns to Rylie Cruz, her best friend and paranormal matchmaker to help her find "the one"; but when Rylie accidentally matches Jennifer (a demon's dream date) with a demon charged with dragging them both through hell and back, the road to romance gets hot, hot, hot. Once again, Rose Pressey has managed to take the paranormal and make it fast-paced, quirky fun. This story will strike a chord with anyone who has ever had bad dates, bad relationships, or thought romance is hell.
All of Rose Pressey's book are witty, charming, and fun. She takes a very popular, everyone is writing it, genre and manages to give it a fresh spin. She is not heavy on the 'dark' side of paranormal; instead, she gives it a fun - even-your-best-friend- COULD-be-one, flavor. Her characters are likeable, and you always want to know what happens to them next. I would certainly recommend her to anyone.
I enjoyed this one more than the last one- that is to say, I didn't actually skip any pages this time. Then again, this time I actually kept track of what bugged me with the writing style- and really, I can only hope that I got a messed-up digital version, and not that her editor hates the author.
"It wasn't often I was left speechless, but Jack did it to me often." ...erm?
in a cafe there were "small iron tables and matching tables" Glad I don't need a place to sit.
"And that was all he was- a hindrance. The best thing for me to do was get away from him. and a few sentences later "As a matter of fact, it looked as if it would be a better option to do it without him. I'd walk a little bit further with Cole, then I'd lose the guy." Didn't we establish already that that was the plan?
"He weaved through the crowd and made it to our table. The vampire who claimed to know so much approached the table." Did he teleport back across the room between the two sentences? Or was she trying to build up tension?
Anyway- story was fine. I liked the setting, even liked some of the characters- but the writing... grated on my nerves.
It seems that lately I've run into an awful lot of books with many grammatical and spelling errors and it's very frustrating for me. My skill set is secretarial so my mind is always on alert to find errors, even when I'm not at work. Sometimes it can be annoying because it's a distraction to me. It takes my attention away from the story and the characters and I obsess with a sentence until I find the error and figure out what it was supposed to say. This book was no different. It was like reading a badly spelled menu at the corner diner. The errors were many and quite frankly, the plot was not so great that it outweighed the errors so my mind tended to wander constantly. When I finished the book, I said (out loud, yeah, I really did) "I'm glad that's over". I think that pretty much sums up what I thought about this book. I've read several books by this author and they are usually a fun read but this one hit a low and I'm not sure I can come back from it so this author may have to do without me.
I only read this book because I read the first two...come to think of it I only read the second one because I read the first one. I liked the first one and figured I would like the others. Not the case. After a while the main character became annoying. Supporting characters were very unlikable and at times unnecessary. The story became drawn out and boring. I would have been okay with everyone dying...
It took me a long time to get through this book and my heart just wasn't in it as much as the others. I wanted to like it but was a little disappointed, as I was with the most recent Jolie Wilkins as well. Not in a paranormal state of mind i guess, surprising for Halloween time. Vastly prefer the Larue series to this one, so hoping there is another in that series to look forward to.
I love the Rylie Cruz series. It is so fun and book three is no exception. The twists and the turns of the story keep one guessing. The diologue between the characters will make you laugh out loud. I can't wait to see what awaits Rylie next, you know she doesn't know how she always gets herself in "these situations".
Third book in this series, and again I thought it was just ok. I have really enjoyed Pressey's other series, but for some reason Rylie just irks me. I've found all three books to feel rushed but at the same time anti-climactic. Again with the distracting proofreading errors on the e-book. I guess I will just keep my eyes open for the next Larue or Veronica book...
This book was the least entertaining book in the series. The series itself wasn't exactly that great. There were some inconsistencies in the books. I don't know if it was just the e-book or what, but there were many spelling and grammatical errors in this book. There were places in the book where I got confused and had to re-read parts many times.
these are the first books i have read by rose!! they are amazing i did not want to put them down!! you just wanna keep reading to find out what rylie is gonna get into next and the next thing you know....your done with the book. i give it 4 stars as a must read..and re-read....and read again
If I didn't have the trilogy on my Nook and I hadn't been home with the flu, I probably wouldn't have read this 3rd in the Rylie Cruz series after reading the 2nd one. This one was a little better than the 2nd one but still the same old run around New Orleans trying to find someone.
The 3rd in the Rylie Cruz series...and it didn't disappoint! Fresh, Funny, and Feisty, and enough twists and turns in the plot to keep you guessing right to the end, highly recommend!
