If Only We Knew, is a story about two people who understand what it is to love each other, with passion, patience and understanding. For better, for worse, for richer, for poorer, in sickness and in health, until death do them part.
Life is full of surprises.
Matt Johnston married the wrong woman for all the right reasons, but can’t stop thinking about another. When he thought he knew what was ahead, life threw him a curve ball.
Shannon Jones had always known what she wanted out of life, until one night of drunken passion changes her way of thinking.
I married my best friend, the love of my life, we have two beautiful daughters, and I love serving my country. On my spare time, I love scribbling and making my words come to life. I love writing romance stories about couples that go through trials and come out stronger. Love is never easy, but it's worth all the hard work. This is the love story of Shannon and Matt! This story is so true to life it was like it was happening either to me or someone that I knew. These two meet and became friends while working at a bank. I don't want to give anything away but there's plenty of drama in the telling of the story all very very believable. Shannon and Matt go through some very trying times but they make it through and I tell you you will cry at the end. You won't hug your loved ones because tomorrow is not promised to us! This is definitely two thumbs up and five stars I recommend this book to you!
I am very familiar with this Author and have all her books but I have not read them all. I am now trying to rectify that!
This is Matt and Shannon's story. The drama starts from the very first page which is how I like my stories to be. The relationships in this story are complicated and messy. The story takes you on a real emotional roller coaster ride. I loved that the leading men in Ancelli's books can show their emotions and can cry and be vulnerable, which is what Matt shows us during this story.
I could feel Matt's unconditional love for Shannon. However, I felt Shannon was selfish in some of her responses to the circumstances they encountered. This is particularly noticeable regarding her decision about Maykala. I felt she did not really take into consideration Matt's feelings on the subject and just made a unilateral decision without talking it through first with Matt.
This book was so good from beginning to end. I love how the story flowed at a good pace. Not too slow nor rushed. An awesome Love Story about two friends who found love but also found tragedy along the way.
This was one hell of a rollercoaster romance story
Shannon and Matt were best of friends. They wanted different things in life and that was the only reason they didn't date. But, one drunken night changed all of that. They both decided to bury that night and never talk about it again until situations came up that couldn't be hidden anymore. Andrew, Matt's older brother helps him to realize that he married the wrong woman. Shannon was getting pummeled by her parents, especially her father and Matt's mother for how the tables were turning in her life. Karen, Matt's wife was hiding her scheming but Matt discovered the cat in the bag she was hiding. Everyone was hiding secrets to keep others they loved from worrying. Lack of communication among the characters was the biggest problem. With the cat out of the bag, Matt and Shannon can work on their relationship and future. Matt would do anything for Shannon including putting his life on the line and offering to quit his job to be with her. For someone who did not want to be a mother, she grasped her motherhood by both rings.
This story had me from page one to the end. Ancelli I always writes intriguing stories.
Matt and Shannon were work friends who ended sleeping together. That single night changed the trajectory of their lives forever.
This is a heart wrenching story about what if's, could be's and possibilities of what forever could look like. There's plenty of drama and heartbreak between these two and their extended families. But, there's also lots of pure moments of love, happiness, and joy.
I love the way Matt's heart was always open to doing the right thing and letting those he loved know how important their love was to him. Honestly, I had to put this book down because my heart was breaking reading all that these two went through.
I would highly recommend this story, but bring a few tissues along for the read.
Ancelli does it again. My favorite novel by this author thus far.
The absolute champion of twist and turn. Just when you thought it was fabulous..... It got BETTER. The characters were fantastic, and the dialogue was so relatable and realistic it was uncanny. Even the evil characters were entertaining.
I really appreciate novels with children. Get this book.
This book will have you on an emotional roller coaster. Shannon and Matt proved that with love and family support anything is possible. I just think that Tom and Karen got away with a slap on their wrist and should have been punished for what they did to Eileen and Matt.
This book was great. I don't run across many real life books that I like to read, but this book was great. When you deal with real life issues you can help but love the book if they are done right. And this was great. HAPPY READING EVERYONE.
Read this in a different app, truthfully it’s my 5th or 6 time reading this story love 💕 reading it over and over. I have so many books in Kindle I decided to purchase it in her so I can re-read it when ever I want. This is a great romance book🙏🏾🥰🙏🏾
I didn't finish this one. My first book from this author was No Way Out, which turns out to be a smoother flowing, well rounded version of this earlier novel.
Matt and Shannon were friends and became lovers . Their relationship was great ,although they had some bumps in the road. Ancelli writes a story about trust, love , and faith. The secondary characters and the development of the novel was a page turner. Can't wait to get started with the next novel in this series.
This is my first time reading this Author after hearing about her. This story was very good and held my attention alway through the book, I will try her again in the future.
Dismal! Adversities rivaling a Greek tragedy. Friends to lovers-not so much.
3.00 stars. This story is a stellar example of an author's overuse of conflict, drama and adversity in a story with little or no attention to character development. Example, how did the protagonist, Matt Johnson and Shannon Jones settle on a friends relationship when his brother and her sister and others thought they were in love with each other; other than drink, what made that one night stand happen? The characters were lost to the events; Matt's mother's absence in his and his brother's life was explained by having Shannon become an expectant breast cancer patient on top of all the other calamitous events in their underdeveloped relationship.
First of all... Matt was everything, everyfreakingthing! he was an amazing character and his love knew no bounds, he made me want to scream because in his heart he knew that answer to his question and I wanted to yell "DEMAND THE TRUTH" but he found out in the most perfect way.
Shannon, I loved her... I mean seriously loved her character! She was refreshing, kind and caring and she put others before herself. Not once in keeping her secret was it about herself it was all done out of love.
This book also made me cry... I couldn't understand why things were happening that way and I wanted to literally scream.
I will be recommending this book to ALL of my friends!
This was a story about love, friendship, betrayal and faith. It had me gripped throughout, I loved Shannon, hated her father, Loved Matt and Andrew and their father, hated Karen. The story was beautifully written and designed to make you think, the live scenes between Shannon and Matt were steaming hot and very sexy. I held my breath after they realised they loved one another and then tragedy strikes, I thought that's it and thought they'd never get their HEA. Then another tragedy strikes, just as you think they may have escaped you're thrown by the luck they are having, or the lack of it per se. Nevertheless, the story continues and the epilogue gives you hope and all ends well.
I love how Ancelli writes from her heart and soul. Her stories reached inside and grab a hold of you and take you on an emotional ride. You cheer for the hero and heroine and then finding HEA.
Ancelli has become one of my most favorite authors. This story is about having love in front of you and not acknowledging it; making mistakes but learning from them and not allowing others to punish you for your mistakes. It is a story of survival, love, forgiveness and pain. A masterful job and one that has me shedding tears along with the characters. Everyone that believes in love and redemption after the pain should read this book.
When you realize that what you were looking for was in front of you all the time, then what? Matt and Shannon had been besties and at a pivotal moment they indulged in a fantasy. The result a baby was made. Matt married someone else without knowing of the baby. Shannon refused to burden him or try to entrap Matt. Lies are told and deception abounds. What will Matt do when he discovers the truth? Will Shannon finally tell the truth? Can both find their soulmstes? Will Shannon overcome another life threatening event in her life?
Fabulous read...Thank you Ms. Ancelli for a heart wrenching read...
It's amazing how much your emotions go up and down in this book. I was angry with Matt at first then I was back to being in love with him and then I'd repeat with Shannon. I love the whole best friends scenario. I think everyone has had a best friend that they have felt like this with and it's just nice to see it come true. I hated it took so long for them to figure out how they felt, but then again if you're friends and in a situation like this it'll take time. Ancelli, you could write 5 more stories all about friends and I can guarantee you that I will read them. Nice job. Loved it.
imgiving this book 3 stars because of the major improvement that I have seen. The author has come up with a more concise plot ( still a little too soap opera-ish for me) but she definitely cut the amount of drama down. the plot was good and I'm happy to say that I enjoyed this book. I still only gave it three stars because there were still a few errors and there were still too many plot twists for such a short book.
I can't believe that I am just writing a review. I have read this book at least five times. I love it from beginning to the end. Ancelli's relatable characters are refreshing and Matt and Shannon are at the top of the list. Not only do you see the wonderful love they have for each other but Ancelli beautifully depicted familial love. Love Matt's brother, father and Shannon's sister Sherry. This book is a wonderful read and a true romance.
This was a love story. Two friends that fell in love cute and I like it. Their story was rocky and hard. I know they went thru a lot....but Shannon( the heroine) got on my nerves at times. I don't care the circumstances...She lied to the father of her child a few times. I love star crossed lovers but Shannon was a little annoying. To me If you have that knowledge in mind you will enjoy the book.
This was another great hit by this author. If you love friends to lovers stories then this is the book for you. This book revolves around Matt and Shannon who are not only coworkers but best friends as well over the past five years. On the night of his bachelor party their friend status changes in a way neither one of them could have imagined. This book has enough drama and intrigue to keep you reading till the end. You will not be disappointed.
I usually love friends to lovers books but this story got so complicated and challenging I almost threw my kindle! Shannon's story alone was beautifully written. That alone was 5 stars! Matt was just icing on a very sweet story. I would love a story for Andrew with maybe Sherry. There was something there between them. As always Ancelli, you impress and move me. Thank for this story.
Although I really liked this book, it did have it's quirks (slight lag in a few areas, dialogue issues in a few areas, and initial issues with the development of Matt's mother).
Other than that, this book was a captivating concoction of delicious drama, hawt hawt sex, & heartwarming romance.
