Quarterback Tyler Harris is about to find the woman who can get past his defensive line and reach his heart.

With two championships in as many years, superstar Tyler Harris is the best quarterback in the league. Gorgeous and rich, he's at the top of his game. But everyone's looking to take him down. There's a building media frenzy around an unfortunate accident, and the only safe place seems a rundown mansion deep in the San Juans and owned by his late great uncle. There, Tyler gets sacked by the sassy redhead next door. It's more alive than he's felt in years.

Lavender Mead has a good reason to dislike jocks, namely an absentee father who deserted the family to coach college football. Maybe that explains her penchant for bad boys who play ball for a living and break hearts for a hobby. Her new neighbor seems just the type. Yet, something is different about Tyler, and sometimes love requires a Hail Mary. You draw back your arm, pray...and give it all up to fate. And sometimes you win your ring.

Forward Passes is the 2nd book in the Lumberjacks series by Jami Davenport. I LOVE sports themed books for many reasons, mostly of the perverted nature, but I especially love the ones focused on football. It’s not only my favorite sport to watch, it’s also my favorite one to read.

Our Hero of the story, Tyler was first introduced to us in the first book because not only is he the quarterback on the Lumberjacks team, he’s also the cousin to the hero in that book. He’s a bit of a smart-ass with a serious attitude but there was something about him that I connected with and even though he’s an ass, I liked him, I mean, really liked him. So much so, I pestered Ms. Davenport for months wanting to know when his book would be available. He’s one of those characters you know is has a long way to go but you want to be along for that journey because you see his potential. Professionally, Tyler is on top of the world or at least he should be. He’s just won his second Super Bowl in two years but he’s lost the love and passion for the game and life in general that he’s always had. Something tragic happens in the first book and this contributes to part of those feelings.

Once Tyler meets Lavender, things start to change for him. She was a challenge, she wasn’t like any of the girls he usually dated but there was something about her that got his attention. She’s a sassy, spit-fire, tiny redhead who keeps him on his toes. They have a mutual dislike of each other and go at each other on a regular basis, so why can’t he stay away? She has sworn off dating jocks, particularly hot football players. She hates everything he stands for, but it’s hard to resists his charms. Their daily sparring had them sexually strung tight it was only a matter of time. She decides to give in to their raw crackling chemistry and tries to keep it about recreational sex only. What happens is she awakens his passion for life and he proves not all jocks are dumb and deserve a bad rep. They are the perfect match in bed, neither one of them likes vanilla sex and they both like it fast, hard, and rough. Lavender is one lucky girl in that Tyler’s talents go way beyond the football field.

Tyler and Lavender both have their issues and it’s easy to fall into their story and feel everything they are feeling. Something I’ve learned from Ms. Davenport is she knows how to write with emotion and steam, but she’s also skilled at including humor in her stories. The football players, the Brotherhood, and the voyeuristic kitty cat are just a few of the characters who bring out the laughs.

Speaking of emotion, there are a couple of subplots in this story worth mentioning. One is the elderly and how most people overlook them, forget about them, and hardly notice them. They are considered the forgotten generations. Two is parental alienation. This is a very real and dangerous problem in many divorced families where one of the parents does everything in their power to turn the children against the other parent, either by telling them lies about the parent, such as they don’t want to have anything to do with them, they don’t care about them, also trying to keep said parent away from the kids even if they have joint custody of them. It’s a type of brainwashing that happens too often. The children are often left hurt and abandoned, which is something they carry with them into adulthood.

Ms. Davenport’s love of the game and knowledge of the sport shines through with her fictional sports team and this is another great addition to an already favorite series of mine. Don’t worry you non-sports fans, you’ll enjoy this one too because there are plenty of other topics besides the football to keep you engaged in this hot and steamy love story. I have a special place in my heart for Tyler and he will forever be one of my top book boyfriends. I can’t get enough of him and I hope we see more of him in future books.

Enjoy everyone!

Superbowl quarterback Tyler Harris should be celebrating his newest win, but he finds his excitement lacking and making another blow to his already tarnished reputation. Needing a breather he finds himself accepting the terms of a will that leaves him inhabiting a mansion in much need of help, but there is one positive to his temporary move his neighbor stunning Lavender Mead whose immediate hate for him is providing him with a new form of entertainment. Two people who are polar opposites find their mutual attraction to one another forming into a passionate relationship neither was ready to have and unless they address the baggage they both carry they could end up the best thing that ever happened to them.

The second in the Seattle Lumberjack series. The banter between Lavender and Tyler is like a seductive dance of foreplay, humorous and sensual wrapped all up in one. Tyler tries to be such jerk to keep up the guarded walls he has sheltered himself with, but he is drifting and Lavender begins to see there is much more to the dumb jock then she initially thought. I am a big fan of this series and this addition makes me firmly believe they are just going to get better and better as it continues.

What a wonderful and very hot romance! As a football fan myself (Go Cowboys!) I really loved the story from Tyler’s point of view and seeing that as perfect he looks from the outside he has real insecurities inside that he just didn’t want to deal with.

One thing I found very interesting was Lavender’s back story. It deals with a real problem that does in fact happen in families where the parents are no longer together. It is called parental alienation syndrome or PAS for short. I think that Ms. Davenport really dealt with this situation very well. It added such a dimension to Lavender’s character and to her relationship to Tyler.

Forward Pass is the second in the Seattle Lumberjacks series but is perfect as a standalone story. I have not read the first in this series but this was so good I know I will read it as well as the next book.

Caution: This book is for adults due to language and sex scenes.

The two first meet when Tyler's uncle bequeaths him a rundown mansion in the San Juan Islands. In order to inherit the potential cash cow, Tyler must live in the home for 90 days. If he leaves town, the mansion will go to his sexy new neighbor, Lavender. She has plans to bring his uncle's dream of an affordable veteran's retreat to life. Only she lacks the funds.

Tyler and Lavender clash immediately. She finds him arrogant and has a serious chip concerning jocks. Despite mutual dislike, the two have five alarm chemistry. The sex is hot, hot, hot. In my humble opinion, it puts Fifty Shades to shame. Perhaps because Tyler and Lavender are dynamic, interesting characters.

Davenport crafted them beautifully, with rich, complex histories. She makes me care about them and has me cheering for them to take their relationship from steamy sex to true love.

For anyone who likes their romance with a dash of spice, Forward Passes is a must read.

My Review:
After the very first chapter of this book, I was in love with it and looking to see if it was available in print to add to my permanent library (sadly, right now, it's not). Right away, I need to give kudos to Jami Davenport. She wrote a hero (and heroine although she isn't quite as bad) who has some serious flaws, which could make him really unlikable. But he's not...she creates a great balance so you can remain empathetic to him even when he's acting/thinking like a real jerk.

The book starts with Tyler as quarterback and winning his second SuperBowl in a row. The guy should be on top of the world, but he's NOT. He's completely apathetic about what just happened and where he's going in life. Immediately, I was in love with this character...just because my heart hurt for him.

Then you meet the heroine, Lavender at the funeral of a man she loved. Art lived next door to Lavender and she had a close friendship with the older man. They'd planned to turn his mansion into an affordable vacation home for veterans, but that plan is derailed when he dies and leaves his mansion to his nephew, Tyler. Lavender has an issue with jocks. She is incredibly drawn to them, and Tyler is no exception to this, but she's learned the hard way that they mean nothing but heartache. She refuses to become involved with another one, no matter how good the chemistry is.

Like I said before, this is a different kind of book, mainly because the hero is not your normal hero material. Yes, he's gorgeous, but he's shallow and materialistic. He admits to staying with his fiance simply because they have really hot sex...most of it make-up sex. He's plowing through his money almost faster than he can make it and works to build his cocky bad-boy public persona. What he doesn't let anyone see is the real him...the one that gives to charity, the one who cares way too much, the one who's hurt by the dumb-jock persona. He knows that his only life-skill is football and feels really unworthy of all that he's earned because of it.

This book has a slow build up. When it's all said and done it covers almost six months time. Even the relationship between Lavender and Tyler builds up really slowly. I liked that realism, especially knowing Lavender's history with jocks. I will admit I was shocked when the whole story of who her father is came out. I didn't see that coming and liked the way her father has ties to both characters.

I love sports books and this one was a great one. The book takes place during the off-season, but there is still interaction and conflict coming from the team situation. I need to go back to read book #1 in this series and absolutely cannot wait to read #3, because we meet the hero in this book...and yeah, there's going to be some good angst there because he's heading into his final football season. I think I found a new author to add to my favorite sports-author list!

I received a complimentary copy of this book in return for an honest review.

“He was just a guy gifted with an athletic body and a no-quit attitude. He didn't deserve this: the adulation, the money, the fame, none of it.”

Cocky and arrogant yet charming and deliciously sexy, Tyler is the man every man wants to be and every woman wants to sleep with. However, something profound happened that changed the way he looks at the world and his life. It all started with the death of a young man and spiraled further with the death of an elderly relative. Questions of self-worth and purpose have Tyler’s mind occupied while his game suffers. Others are starting to take notice, but after having been saddled with an inheritance he never wanted, Tyler seeks refuge to regroup and ends up with way more than he bargained for.

"At nineteen she'd just dropped out of college with no future plans, an island-sized chip on her shoulder, and a fondness toward self-destruction."

Lavender may not be her nineteen year old self anymore, but she understands that drastic times call for drastic measures and if seduction is what it takes for Lavender to secure an old mansion then she is willing to make it happen. Especially since bad-boy, jocks like Tyler are her specialty. When Lavender gets up close and personal with the object of her lust, things almost immediately start backfiring. Their physical arrangement was never supposed to get complicated with emotions or personal with Tyler becoming acquainted with her family situation. He wants her body and Lavender wants his, but both were blindsided by their stubbornness over an old mansion and an attraction that won’t be denied.

It became apparent fairly quickly that this story would center more on Tyler and Lavender’s personal issues more than football. It allowed the reader to see a completely different side to Tyler than in the first story. Can't say I'm a Tyler fan, but I can definitely see the appeal and have a better understanding of why he is the way he is.

The author admittedly did some research on parental alienation, which is the core of the conflict in Lavender’s life and I felt all of her emotions clearly as well as her deep denial about her situation. It was a pleasant surprise for me to connect and relate to Lavender on such a deep level.

Oddly enough, the story seemed to drag for me. Yes, there is plenty of scorching moments between Tyler and Lavender and yes, there is that all's well that end's well feeling at the end, but the romance just didn't quite make it for me. Aside from that, I am ready to meet the next footballer in need of some life-changing lovin'. Fans of sports romance will definitely appreciate this series.

Review as appears on my blog Amy's Book World:

Football, sexy men and hot steamy love scenes. What more could you ask for? Jami Davenport brings it all to her writing which makes her books a delectable naughty treat. Reading this installment of the series, the sexual chemistry between Lavender and Tyler just flows off the page. These two dance the verbal tango back and forth, generating a heat between the two that can not be denied. When they do get together , you cry out "Finally!". because it is almost too much for you as the reader to take. It's not Happily Ever After yet. Tyler and Lavender have a lot of emotional baggage. They have to sift through the damage that years of hanging on the the emotions has done. In order to move forward they have to resolve their past issues.

When Lavender's grandmother Doris was introduced, I swear I wanted to reach in a strangle that woman. She has to be the most annoying, infuriating character ever. She strolls is and takes control of Lavender's life. What's most aggravating is that Lavender lets her. Lavender is grateful to her grandmother for taking care of her but I think her actions are hurtful. Lavender is not allowed to really be independent or grown up. She doesn't get to experience things like some her age should because Doris comes in and dictates what she can and cannot do. This makes Doris my least favorite character.

Tyler.....that is one fine man. He is the complete package, good looking, athletic, and smart. Did I say good looking? ;) Tyler has a heart of gold but tries to come off as a jerk. By doing this he can keep people at arms length. When he met Lavender, he met his match. She can see through the walls that he has built to the true man that is behind them.

Tyler's uncle Art is a sneaky one. When he passes away he leaves a stipulation on his will for Tyler. He has to live in the house for 90 days in order to keep it or it reverts over to Lavender and the Brotherhood. You know that Art had a trick up his sleeve when he came up with this clause. It seems that even from the grave Art was trying to pair his nephew and Lavender together.

Overall I enjoyed this book. The author did a great job with this book. I did not read the first book in the series. So this is definitely a series that does not have to be read in exact order. Due to hot steamy scenes I recommend this one for ages 18+.

Forward Passes
Seattle Lumberjacks Book Two
By Jami Davenport

Quarterback for the Lumberjacks, Tyler Harris, has just inherited a rundown mansion from his great uncle with the stipulation that he must live there for nine months before he can sell it. But this is followed on the heels of an unfortunate accident involving a police officer and his big mouth creating media frenzy and his leaving in the midst of the uproar will only cause more speculation. But after Tyler meets his sassy redheaded neighbor he thinks the stay may not be so bad. Lavender Mead hates jocks with good reasons and when Tyler moves in next door she wants nothing to do with him even if he is drop dead gorgeous.

Sexy jock and the feisty girl next door could you get an even better scenario for a steamy romance novel? I loved the quips between the two as they both go through their own tumultuous side stories as they grow together and find a way to become a better person each in their own aspects. The only problem I had was that the author seems to use the word “rooster” (edited to keep this review rated g) so much that I began to wonder if she did indeed know a another word for it. Though this does happen sometimes in romance novels that an author will find one word they like and stick to it. Other than that Jami Davenport has created a wonderful story that is witty and beautiful, I had no idea that this book was a part of a series so now I am off to try to find the first one!

I received a review copy in exchange for my participation in the book tour.

My actual rating for this book is 3.5 stars.

Readers should know that this book is not for the faint of heart. If language and steam-up-every-window-in-the-house sex isn't your cup of tea, you should most likely avoid this book.

First of all, Ms. Davenport did an amazing job making you dislike Tyler, but secretly want to jump into bed with him, as he's the best Bad Boy character I've read in a long time. He is such an ass throughout most of the book, I truly wanted to strangle him until he lets you see into his soul and you understand why he is the way he is.

Lavender is the epitome of a sassy redhead who knows how to hide her heart well. If Lavender was real, we'd be the best of friends as we have an awful lot in common.

Lavender's grandparents are the most horrendous people EVER. I seriously hated them throughout the whole book. Tyler's teammates amused me, but Murphy was such a total douche that I just wanted to punch him in the head several times.

I really wanted to find out more about Tyler's life as well as Lavender's. Why did Tyler's father and grandfather have a falling out? Why did Artie do what he did? Was Lavender's mother that horrible of a woman? Some questions are answered towards the end, but I was still left with wanting to know MORE. Dare I even say that I'd have preferred less hot and sweaty sex and more story?

The reason for half a star is that I felt there were other words that could be used to describe genitalia - both male and female - rather than the same two words over and over again.

I should have done my homework for this book. I didn't realize it was second in a series and really wish I had read the first book before reading Forward Passes. I can't wait to read that and the other books in what I'm sure will be a great series.

Lastly...Ms Davenport? More football, please!

Hmm, reasonable story slightly spoilt by the author's inability to write a sex scene! I don't even want to dignify the scenes by repeating them.

So Tyler was a giant ass in the first book (which also suffered from he same issue). But apparently underneath it all he is a kind and caring guy, brought up to respect Mom, apple pie etc, etc. Of course that doesn't stop him from having a really bad attitude to women - apparently it's all an act to stop people realising he cares.

In a convoluted series of unlikely coincidences Ty inherits a huge old mansion on San Juan island, however in order to keep the house he needs to spend 90 days on the island. If he doesn't, then the house goes to his next-door neighbour and the local Island Yankee Brotherhood. Ty fully intends to stay the 90 days then sell the property and get the hell out of dodge but of course the wily old men of the Brotherhood and his sexy neighbour Lavender change his mind.

Now apparently despite being an NFL quarterback and two times Superbowl champion Ty is a bit strapped for cash and instead of hiring a team of crack craftsmen to repair and/or restore the old house he decides to do it himself. He also can't manage to get a phone line installed!

Ty has lost his mojo since Ryan died of cancer at the end of the first book. He sees his time on the island as a way of avoiding dealing with his loss of the desire to win. Then he finds out that the Lumberjacks (his team) have signed a new player - his arch enemy.

Lavender is under the control of her domineering grandmother who hates jocks and all they stand for.

In other words, there's loads going on, lots of issues, lots of sub-plots etc and if she could write some more believable sex scenes. These are both clinical, graphic and yet a bit meh. She overuses four-letter words and I am reminded of someone uptight trying to talk dirty by just using the same words over and over.

As a sports fan and an avid romance reader, you’d think that I would have enjoyed this book more than I did. It’s not that it’s a bad story. But it’s more I had trouble connecting with the characters and their motivations.

Let’s start with Tyler. He’s fresh off winning a Super Bowl and now he’s stuck in the San Juan Islands for a couple months in order to claim an inheritance. He constantly projects a bad boy persona to the public, but private he’s not sure who he is… and the reader is taken along with his journey of self discovery. So, yes, Tyler does grow during the book. But it was that trip that often had me shaking my head. Tyler yo-yoed so often, I was confused throughout most of the book.

And then there is Lavender. A girl with some major family issues and a dislike of, but an attraction to jocks. So, when Tyler moves in next door, she’s not happy. Throughout the story, Lavender has to deal with her insane grandmother, absentee father and odd relationship with Tyler. Lavender grows as well, and I was often shaking my head here too. I just could understand her and all her screwed up relationships.

The love scenes were scorching hot and plentiful. Ms Davenport was quite inventive in a few of those scenes. But, they also fit into the story and help with the development of Tyler and Lavender’s relationship.

The book was well written and obviously well researched. The book touches on emotional abuse within a family. And while I was often frustrated with the characters in the situation, it was handled quite well.

In the end, this was a middle of the road read for me. It was enjoyable enough, but it doesn’t stand out. However, I am curious enough that I will likely check out some other books in this series to see what Ms Davenport does to these football players.

My newest obsession comes in the form of a Sports Romance series – Jami Davenport’s Seattle Lumberjacks! I read the first book, Fourth and Goal, and I NEEDED more so I immediately downloaded Forward Passes!

I had one problem with Forward Passes, Derek’s jerk of a cousin. Tyler. (Yet that didn’t damper my enthusiasm to read this second book, despite knowing it was Tyler’s story!) Luckily, Tyler redeemed himself in this one – sure, he’s still a jerk. But? Some guys are always jerks, I supposed. And while his dealing with a few horrible incidents definitely do not explain his jerk status prior to the end of the last book? They do start the building blocks for him becoming likable!

Violet, our fabulous female lead, hates Jocks. She’s bitter towards Tyler, which is totally understandable, based on his merits alone! But as we get to know her, we learn that her Dad is a jock – in some way, this story unfolds slowly – and that he’s basically abandoned her. (This story plays out in a way that pulls me close to an ugly cry. Jami Davenport is good at that one.)

Once again, this book is about so much more than just the romance – although that is smokin hot!! It’s about Tyler and Lavender finding out who they really are. It’s about Tyler getting his passion back, and getting in touch with his roots. It’s about Lavender finding out what really happened in her past. My only (minor) complaint? These two are trapped on an island (read it – it’s a great plot!) and so there are limited scenes with the rest of the Lumberjacks. But the story more than makes up for that!

Jami Davenport has become my new “Must Read” author, and I have very little doubt that she will become yours too!! Fans of Jaci Burton, Toni Aleo and Jill Shalvis would easily be captivated by her magic!

I was given a copy of this book to write an honest review for Netgalley and Cocktails and Books.

FORWARD PASS is a charming story about Joe, a retired professional quarterback. Since retiring Joe spends all his time on charity work and his sports show, but he is still having a difficult time trying to overcome his wild reputation from his younger days. When Joe decides to visit his best friend in Austin, Texas the last thing he expects is to spend time with Shay, his friend’s little sister. Shay is living with her brother and is surprised when Joe unexpectedly shows up. Her brother is out of town and she has to entertain Joe, which is not a hardship for her. Shay had a crush on Joe years ago, even though at the time, he never noticed her. Joe and Shay are thrown together and sparks fly from the moment they see each other again and now, Joe sees Shay in a whole new light. Shay is nothing like the little girl Joe remembers. Joe cares about Shay and he never gives up trying to show her how he feels. He knows she is afraid to trust him and he is patient and understanding.

Shay is a successful designer and she has just moved back to Austin from New York. Even though it’s been years since they have seen each other, when Shay sees Joe again she is still attracted to him. Shay would like to believe Joe when he tells her how he feels, but she worries he is still a player and he will only break her heart. Although I thought they fell in love a little too fast, I enjoyed this entertaining story and Joe and Shay have lots of chemistry sparking between them.

Wow, completely in love with Tyler! Just when you think the series can't get any better you are WRONG! I would highly recommend this book to anyone who loves football and romance.
Tyler is on top of his game with football, but not with life. He hides his real feelings by being cocky, rude, arrogant, and a foul mouth butt. Not sure but I like when the male is arrogant butt because I know I am going to get an amazing woman in the story.
Once Tyler meets Lavender at his uncle's will reading they fight the sexual chemistry they have for each other. Because they both hate each other, and they both tell each other this every time they can. As things go they start having sex with no strings attached, but as the story goes along Lavender has brought Tyler back to life. As Lavender has brought him back to life he has fallen in love with her.
Of course there is a bump in the road before we get the HEA we all want. Tyler tries to help Lavender with her relationship with her dad. The relationship has been estranged due to her Grandmother meddling and just being evil. Helping ends up blowing up in his face a little, so he ends up leaving to go back to spring training. Lavender thinks ending their relationship is what needs to be done since shes too big of coward to follow her heart.
Instead of following her heart at first she starts to fix things first. Once she has everything taken care of she goes and gets the man that has stolen her heart.
I loved the first book of this series, but I LOVE this book even more. I highly recommend this book to everyone!

Forward Passes is the Second book in the Seattle Lumberjacks Series. After reading the book, I didn't think it would be possible to top it or even be as good but I was wrong. Jami Davenport didn't disappoint in Forward Passes. This was Tyler and Lavender' s Story. Even though this is a Football series, they are heartwarming, touching, funny books. I truly can't say enough good things about them.

We meet Tyler in the first book and was Derek's cousin. He came across as a self-centered jerk, who didn't care about anybody but himself. But that wasn't really true, I think to a degree it was an act. Really he extremely loyal, caring, giving, protective, passionate. In the first book he was with Cass, I really thought they were bad together and was glad to see when they decide to go separate ways.

Lavender was extremely strong-willed and caring, I felt sorry for her because the one person she really needed to stand up to was her grandmother but she let her walk all over her.

This was a truly great book filled with love and loss. That I highly recommend. My review can be found at

This is the second book in the Seattle Lumberjack series but they can be read easily in any order which is the way I like a series. This is Quarterback Tyler Harris's story. With two super bowl rings he should be on top of the world but he ends the season jaded and questioning his passion for the sport and even life. He has a reputation for being a real bad ass, potty mouth and all but after the death of a young athlete he finds himself fighting to hold this image.

When his Great Uncle leaves him the family mansion on a San Juan Island with the stipulation he has to be in residence for 90 days he is plunged into a world remote from the party life he's lived. Boring, not -- at least not when his feisty neighbor takes no guff from him and gives back as good as he dishes out.

It's a roller coaster ride of emotion and Ms. Davenport builds the characters to match it. If you aren't a sports fan I wouldn't hesitate for a moment to recommend this read. I'm not and I thoroughly enjoyed it.

I really wanted to love this book. But I had a really hard time getting past the arrogance of Tyler and the refusal of Lavender to pull her head out of her ass and realize the truth. I also don't get how she could make excuses for certain people, even after learning of all the crap from her childhood.

I did love that Lavender was, for the most part, an independent woman who recognized her sexuality and her needs. While conflicted, she did accept that Tyler was screaming hot and a sexual dynamo. Their chemistry was undeniable.

Tyler, on the other hand, is an arrogant jerk. He lead a pretty perfect life, yet he is feeling sorry for himself. I did enjoy watching him come to realize that he has skated through his perfect life and has pretty much nothing to show for it, including money which he has managed to piss away.

I didn't hate the story, I just felt like it could have been so much more.

Forward Passes is the second book in the Seattle Lumberjack series and gives us Tyler's story, who was introduced in book one. Yeah, he's arrogant. Yeah, he can be an ass. But it's all am image he projects. Lavender has been burned by men involved in sports. She had no wish to get involved with an athlete. When Tyler's uncle dies and leaves him the family estate on an island with poor cell services and a stipulation he can't leave the island, the two of them are thrown together. He's introduced to the inhabitants and we glimpse some of the heartache of his past. Lavender learns that those she trusted had lied to her. Tyler learns that he can trust himself again and maybe get that third ring. Jami one again delivers a hot book with emotional ups and downs. I wanted Lavender to find her HEA with her family. And I wanted Tyler to live the game again. Can't wait for the next installment of the Lumberjacks.

I received a copy for an honest review.
To say that Tyler has had a chip on his shoulders for a while, is an understatement. Cocky, showboating quarterback just giving attitude in a fake persona; However, that's not really who he is. You could tell in book 1 of this series that he had things he was hiding, but just not sure what it was. He actually has feelings but unsure of how to show them. Then he meets Lavender... And he starts to slowly creep out of his shell. The chemistry between them is there, and they truly are good for one another. I really enjoyed this book, and liked Tyler more than I thought I would. The only thing I would have liked more is if the story went a little faster. I felt some of the 90 days on the island were drawn out and repetitive. I needed more movement to the climax. Overall it was a great story and I definitely would recommend it. On to book 3!!!

DNF 50%

In general the book was mediocre. Nothing special came out to play.

Arrogant jock inherit an island mansion from his old dead uncle who befriended his young neighbour who was the heroine. The jock had to live in the mansion for three months to earn his inheritance.
The hero meets the heroine sparks fly and yada, yada, yada, yada....

The heroine was annoying and weak letting her bitter and angry grenmother control her life to the ninth. She was twenty seven... pppffffffff realy?

And also, I think, less explanations of every little thing on earth and less exhausting monologues could've improved my reding.

The only bright spot in the book was the hilarious, with a lotttt of attitude, cat who belonged to the late uncle and the hero inherit it with the house.

This book was okay, not as great a story as the first but just as hot. Tyler & Lavendar are scorching together when they get past their dislike for each other. Tyler's lost his edge & love for the game of football & Lavender has lost her father to the game years ago. Having to remain on an island to inherit a family mansion, Tyler meets Lavendar & decides if he's stuck there he might as well make the best of it. Chasing her down he catches her and a relationship begins. Their troubles come full circle and cause a rift. Will the past win out? Will the over bearing family of hers be a downfall? Will he get his edge back? Definitely recommend this book.

This was a very interesting read. The topic and back story where so graphic it makes me want to look at my own relationship with my kids. Lavender the leading lady of this story has to deal with some very real and disturbingly common problems for divorced children. It was wonderful to see the growth and development of the Star quarterback of the Jack team. This book has a lot of meat and is really not intended for young than 18 readers. The storyline is good. The sex is hot. Above all the touching on such a common but profound topic with sensitive but frank regard amazing. A very good read. I was given this copy in trade for a fair review.

First off, can I say how much I love that Ms. Davenport writes guys so well? There’s testosterone aplenty in this story, but it doesn’t eclipse the relationship between Tyler and Lavender. Those two have got it bad. The sparks fly between them from the start and they’ve both got solid reasons to not get together. I enjoyed them sparring and getting along both. And the getting along? Sizzling!

Bottom line – I’m not a diehard sports fan, but I’ve become a Lumberjacks fan. I loved reading this book. It’s hot, sexy, and has some great characterization.

FORWARD PASSES is one of those formula romance novels that will not disappoint readers of this genre. The men are tempting and the women are feisty, the romance sizzling and the bed scenes scorching. Seattle Lumberjacks 2 might feel and sound familiar but the packaging JDavenport wrapped it in is crackling with sexual tension and funny interludes that made FORWARD PASSES a very good short novel to pass the time with

This book is okay, and I'd probably rather give it 2.5 stars, because I don't know if I'd go so far as to call it good. I was often bored, and kept checking to see how much farther I had to go until it was over. It seemed like the author thought they could say "C*ck" and "Fu@k" a bunch of times, add some steamy sex scenes, and call it a story. Truthfully, I only bought the book because I thought the cat was funny when I read the sample. And honestly, the cat is the best part of the book. 2.5 stars for Cougar the cat!

Ms. Davenport's style captivates and brings you along for the ride. You find yourself laughing, crying, holding your breath, and drawn into the lives of the characters. You are caught up in the hot and sexy world of football players and their lives. It also makes you realize that not everything is as perfect and pretty when you are in the limelight. I give this book 5 starts, you won't be able to put it down until you finish it.
