I just love a story that not only entertains but also has a powerful message. Mailbox Kitten is that kind of story. My love of animals is such that the story grabbed me right from the start. What kept me reading was the the author's deft handling of the strong bonds of family and the true meaning of love and loss.
This is the way a children's book should be written. It takes courage to perform even the smallest acts of kindness. Mammy Oaklee realizes this and the reader will too. Whether you're a child or just a child at heart, you will enjoy this book.

Mailbox kitten is a heartwarming story. The author was able to transport me to the little house in the country with the mailbox that brings them a very special gift from God. It is a story of love and loss with a lesson that true love never really dies. Through the pages, you can feel the love that generates from this family. The illustrations are charming. This is a children's book, but I would recommend it as a quick enjoyable read for any age. If you have a child who is sensitive about the subject of death, you may want to wait until they are older to introduce this book to them. Or, you might consider this book as a way to lead into talking about the subject. I hope the author chooses to let us read about other adventures in the life of her family.

This story starts out describing, a mailbox, a joyful mailbox that is the symbol of country living, freedom, and the unknown. It's all about the country living adventure, working on the land and living free. Then there are the mail ladies, the ladies that deliver the mail and will be friends of the farm forever because of their friendly nature. The mailbox kitten came as a gift from the mail ladies, a lost kitten, not belonging to anyone they know, so it was given to Bubba the little boy at Heart of Bottoms Up 2/3 Acre.
They took in the kitten and gave it a good home and a good life. I won't give away the rest of the story, but there is a lot of love and God's will to create opportunity from this experience and adventure. In this story the love comes from Bubba caring for the kitten and Bubba's parents determination to find the kitten, for Bubba and the whole family to love. The kittens have brought the family much joy and adventure. This is a great story for young kids to realize the true meaning of caring, and that God will show us the way to love.

I enjoyed the way the author, Mammy Oaklee, presents her story. It’s simple, effective, and well written. If you are a country person at heart, you will enjoy the book even more. The gray mailbox, the landscape, and the animals in the story are all about country living. The story is told from the point of view of the first person narrator, the author herself. Through the author’s eyes, readers will truly sense of her emotions from her writing. The story teaches us how important love and hope are in spite of all the sadness, disappointment, and loss in life. It will be a very nice gift for young kids from their parents or grandparents. I also liked the illustrations, which are good as some famous TV cartoons.

The book Mailbox Kitten is a wonderful story about a family moving to the country. The mailbox is a big part of their lives as are the mail delivery ladies. The delivery ladies brought much joy to their lives not just by the mail left in their mailbox but by becoming friends. One day the mail delivery ladies brought them a surprise. It was not a letter or a package but a true gift that brought much joy and sorrow to them and especially to their young son. This delightful book is funny, sad and teaches about life. Very well written and left me wanting more! I look forward to more books from this author! "This book was gifted for the purpose of an honest review"

Mailbox Kitten is a beautiful story that grabs your attention right from the beginning, drawing you in to a simplier way of life. It is filled to overflowing with the love of a family, how they cope with situations in life, none more difficult than the loss of one that is loved. Mailbox Kitten will warm your heart and is a must read to all those who are children at heart.

I enjoyed reading "Mailbox Kitten" and so did one of my daughters, who loves animals. We liked the fact that it is based on a true story. We liked the feel of the illustrations and the actual photos at the end of the book. What a wonderful keepsake. It is also a good story for parents to read with their children if they have experienced the loss of a treasured pet.

Mailbox Kitten is a charming and nostalgic story that transports the reader to the Heart of the Bottoms Up 2/3 Acre to follow the adventures of Mammy and Pappy when they move into their new home in the country. A special delivery in their mailbox will bring not only joy and excitement but also will make them face loss, grieve and eventually, hope. I enjoyed reading this short story, told in a very evocative prose. The special quality of this book is that it can help a child cope with the death of a dear pet. But it is not somber or sad in anyway, on the contrary, it ends with hope, with laughter and joy. The illustrations are nicely done and convey the spirit of the story. They can help a wandering little mind to stay focused and understand the action in the story. To read my complete review go to: www.marianallanosauthor.blogspot.com

Mailbox Kitten is a very cute story about a family’s move to the country and one small boy’s happiness when the mail ladies bring them a lost kitten to care for. This short story book teaches about love and loss but is very charming and really evokes the character of life on the home-stead . My kids also liked the hand drawn illustrations which have a lovely folk-art character. It will appeal to children ages 4 through 8.

A very cute story about a kitten who arrived to Mammy, Pappy and Bubba in a unique way, left a deep impression and changed lives. A very sentimental story, this book teaches care, love, loss and how to spread happiness. And it all started with a simple mailbox.
